Disclaimer... The same as usual, I only own the plot.

i really thought you guys would have been more vocal on that last chapter!

To address a guest reviewer. Yes, I know having sex increases chances of the insemination taking and I know you can have sex after, BUT I have plans for this story so like I said before, I'm making it my own. Also, I know that you can find out fairly quickly if you're pregnant or not in any case. My sister found out right before new years that she was only a week and a half pregnant! Thanks for the review though. :)

And another guest review.. Rubbed one out in the office.. Ha! That made me chuckle! I have a plan.. :)

Chapter 72

"Babe? Have you seen my iPad?" The blonde yelled out as she came down stairs with her luggage.

"Yeah, I put it in your carry on." Callie said, walking through the house. Gasping when she saw her wife carrying the large suitcase down stairs. "Arizona Michelle." She scolded, throwing out her wife's middle name, letting her know she wasn't happy with her. "Addison said, to take it easy for a few days or so.. that sure as hell doesn't mean hauling a huge heavy piece of luggage down the stairs." She said, meeting her wife midway and talking the suitcase from her. It had only been three days since the implantation and she couldn't help but to take care of her wife.

"I'm a big girl Callie, I think I can handle pulling luggage downstairs. I'm not fragile. Plus it's been three days, a few is two!" She rolled her eyes behind her wife's back. It has only been three days since the insemination process and Callie was acting like the blonde just home from a traumatic injury.

"She said two or three days... And don't roll your eyes at me." The brunette sighed, rolling the luggage to the door.

"I'm not.."

"Arizona, I know you better than anyone. You were. I'm sorry, I don't mean to hover but I just.. don't want to risk anything." She shrugged.

"I know.." She sighed. "I should be a little more cautious about it, but I forget." She shrugged.

"Well.. you're leaving for a whole week sweetie, please take care of yourself and eat. I don't want to have to worry about you." Callie told her while putting on her jacket.

"I will.. I don't want you to have to worry, honey." The blonde said, stepping up to her wife and placing her hands on her hips. "They're catering breakfast and lunch during the conferences. And the hotel has a restaurant that stays open late, so you don't have to worry okay?" She reiterated, leaning in for a peck on red lips. "I promise to take care of myself." She said, resting her forehead against her wife's.

"I'm really going to miss you." Callie sighed, closing her eyes, trying to soak up this moment. "But I'm also happy for you."

"I know you are." Arizona said, kissing her forehead. "And I'm going to miss you so much more, but I'll be back before you know it."

"Yeah." She said, pulling her wife in for a tight hug. "Lets get you off." Callie said, breaking the hold and grabbing her wife's luggage.

"Wait." She said, walking over to the dogs where they were sitting in the family room. "I have to tell my guys bye." She said, petting the duo. "They don't like me anymore." She pouted as they ignored her. "Bye babies." She said, kissing the tops of their heads.

"They do too, they're just sad like I am that you're leaving."

"Yeah, maybe. But they've been acting like that for a few days now. It's like when I come into a room they turn the other way."

"Stop, they have not." Callie said, walking out of the door with her wife's luggage in hand.

"You're not going to put them out?" Arizona asked as she followed her wife with her carry on.

"Nah, I won't be gone long."

"If they destroy anything it's on you."

"They won't babe, they're good dogs. We've trained them well." Callie laughed, throwing the luggage in the jeep.

"Ummhmm.." Arizona laughed jumping in the jeep.

The quick ride to the airport was fairly silent as they held hands all the way to SeaTac. Finally making to the departure gate just in time for Arizona's flight to be called. "So much for long goodbyes huh?"

"Yeah." Callie sighed, pulling her wife in a hug. "I love you."

"I love you too." Arizona replied, pulling her wife in tighter. "Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone, like sit on the couch and eat junk food and sweets every night."

"What else am I suppose to do then?" The brunette laughed into her wife's neck.

"Facetime your wife." She said, kissing her wife's face.

"Hmm.. Maybe." Callie winked, pulling back from the hug. "Please be careful." She said, cupping her wife's face. "Call me when you land and every chance you get." Callie said, capture her wife's lips in a passionate kiss.

"I will." Arizona smiled, getting teary eyed. She was excited for this opportunity that she really hadn't thought about being away from her wife for a while, but now that the time was here, she was gettig sad about leaving.

Noticing her wife's watery eyes, Callie dried them with the pads of her thumbs. "Go be amazing." She told her. If Arizona didn't turn and leave now she wasn't going to let her go.

"Kay.." She smiled and kissed red lips one more time. "Love?"

"Love!" Callie replied as she let her wife's hand slip out of hers. She stood there watching until Arizona disappears down the terminal before she headed back to her quiet house.

Storing her carrying above her head, Arizona sat down next to the window in the back of the airplane. Putting her headphones in, she picked up her iPad to do a little tweaking on her speaking notes for the conference. Pushing her home button, she noticed her lock screen had been changed from a picture of Callie and the dogs playing at the river to a screenshot of a notepad.

I kind of love you! Okay... who am I kidding? I'm crazy about you. I love being with you. There is no one else I'd rather be with. You make me smile in a way no one else can and you make me laugh like no one else can. You're the first person I get to see in the morning and the last one I see at night. I've never loved anyone the way I love you. You're my other half. My love. My best friend. My happy ever after. You're everything I have ever hoped and wished for. I love you my darling Arizona. Only you! You are my everything.

Now go show those doctors just how amazing you are.

BE AWESOME.

P.s. In case you didn't get the hit... I LOVE YOU!

P.s.s. I miss you so much. Hurry home baby.

Counting down the hours and minutes until I see your face again.

Love, Calliope

Smiling, she took out her phone and sent her wife a text message before switching it to airplane mode just as they were about to take off.

Walking back into the house after dropping her wife off, Callie threw her jacket on the table by the door before making her way to the kitchen to fix her some lunch. Hearing her phone beep while she was rummaging through the fridge for something to eat, she closed the door and retrieved her phone. Seeing a text from her wife.

- Bedroom.. Your pillow. - XO Missing You -

"Okayyy.." She laughed at the simple text. Not knowing what Arizona had meant, she went up to their bedroom. Seeing something on her pillow she walked over and sat down on the mattress. Picking up the piece of paper she unfolded it.

Why do I love you, Calliope?

I love you for so many reasons, big and small and all of them are so wonderful. I love you for all the special qualities that make you one of a kind. You're the only one in the world for me. I love you for the things you do that bring such special meaning to my life. I love you for the silent times when your eyes and arms tell me all I want to know. I love you because I do. Because now... In the deepest part of my heart... A place where there was nothing before, there is love.

P.s. I'll be home before you know it!

Always yours, Arizona.

Sliding the note under her pillow, Callie laid down with thoughts of her wife on her mind.

- You are so sweet. I love you, more than life itself. - XO Calliope -

Callie sent her wife a text back, and curled up to the blondes pillow as the dogs both jumped on the bed to join their mommy for a nap.

Running down the stairwell of her clinic, Callie made a beeline straight for Teddy. Arizona had been gone for three days now and she felt like she was loosing her mind she was so lonely. They had talked several times throughout the days and also facedtimed at night until one fell asleep but it just wasn't the same as having that physical connection. "Teddy.." Callie said, halting herself at her friends desk.

"No!"

"No what? You don't even know what I'm going to ask." She rolled her eyes.

"I talked to Arizona.. I told her and I'm telling you.. I'm not doing it!" Teddy mumbled. Taking the pen out of her mouth she looked up at the Latina. "Get it outta your head now, it's not happening." She said, getting up to file her papers.

"Wha.." Callie was confused. "What are you talking about?"

"The only reason I did it for her was because you were in a coma in the hospital and she needed it. But I will not sleep in bed and cuddle with you just because you miss your wife." Teddy turned back around the the brunette. "She's my friend and I would do anything she or you needed, but not that. Come to me when she's in a hospital bed in a coma, then we'll talk. Until then, I'm going home and cuddling up with my fiancé."

"I don't want you to cuddle me. I'm not ten."

"Well, Arizona thinks that's what you need. But I will give you a hug if that's what you need?" Teddy said, holding her arms out.

"I don't need a hug." She said, pushing Teddy's arms away. "What I need is you to listen."

"Okay.. I'm all ears."

"That's besides the point" Callie snickered.

"Hey."

"Sorry... But will you please please feed the dogs and chickens tomorrow and Friday? Ooh and maybe Saturday?"

"Where are you going?" The blonde questioned.

"I'm going to fly out to San Fran and surprise Arizona. I only had two surgeries left this week and one canceled and the others insurance still isn't straightened out yet so they rescheduled. So I'm free.. unless I want to help Taylor and Jackson the rest of the week and I don't. So I'm going to go bring my wife home."

"Make Karev do it, after all that's what he's hired to do."

"I can't." Callie sighed. "He asked for this weekend off a few weeks ago and I can't ask him to do it. Please Teds?"

"She'll be home in a couple of days." Of course Teddy will do it, she just liked to see her friend sweat it out.

"Teddy..." Callie whined. "Pleeeease. I miss my wife."

"Give her a call." She shrugged.

"I did! It's not enough. I've not had sex in a week and we had phone sex last night or.. Facetime sex and that wasn't enough either. I have to go see her."

"Tha.. that's.. that's enough. I don't need to hear about that. Of course I'll do it."

"Yes..." Callie said hugging her friend.

"But..."

"Oh no.." She dropped her head.

"You have to name your first born after me." Teddy countered.

"You don't like the name Theodora and I'm sure as hell no going to put my kid through that either."

"Touché. Okay.. then Henry and I are going to enjoy the hot tube tonight and Friday night."

"Done deal." Callie said, kissing her friends cheek. "You're a godsend Teds." She said, quickly turning around to go home and pack. If she timed it just right she would make it to Arizona's hotel just in time for dinner. "Oh and Teddy.. No sex in my hot tube. I don't want to have to drain and sanitize it."

"But you have sex in it." Teddy countered.

"Because it's mine."

"Okay.. and tomorrow and Friday.. It will be mine." Teddy winked before going back to work.

Arizona had just giving her last presentation for the day and she was hungry yet exhausted. She wasn't sure which she wanted to do first, sleep or eat.. or eat in bed until she fell asleep. The conference had been long but yet interesting, much different than last years.

As the meeting came to an end, Arizona quickly made her way off the stage trying to make a beeline for the exit. The first day she was here she saw a familiar set of green eyes on her that she never expected to see again in her life. But lucky for her she was able to avoid the woman by going out to dinner with a few of her fellow colleagues that she went to med school with. But unfortunately for her, this evening they all were headed out for drinks. She had to opt to stay in because of the chance that she could be carrying their baby right now.

Making her way out of the room, Arizona headed to the restaurant to grab a quick bite before heading upstairs to her room to have her wife talk her to sleep. Walking in the establishment, she was immediately greeted at the door by the hostess not feeling those green eyes on her yet again. After placing her order, she decided to call her wife as she waited. For the first time ever she consciously cupped her belly, thinking about what was to come for them. Tomorrow would make a whole week since she had been inseminated and if the next four or five weeks would go by as slow as this one she felt like she'd die. She could only imagine how her wife was feeling.

'Calliope, it's me. I just finished for the day and I'm at the restaurant downstairs in the hotel and I kinda feel like Birdee off Hope Floats, eating alone in the cafe.' She giggled, that was one of her favorite movies she loved to watch with her wife. 'Anyway, I just wanted.. well needed to hear your voice to get me through the rest of this week. I miss you so much babe. Call me soon. I love you. Bye.' She said before hanging up the phone and trying Teddy's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Atlman. Whatcha doing?" Arizona asked her friend.

"Hey Ari. I'm just getting off work."

"Was Calliope already gone?"

"Geez, no hi. I miss you?" Teddy scoffed.

"Of course I miss you, my darling Teddy. But I really miss my wife and I can't reach her." Arizona said.

"She misses you too... boy have I heard about it. All she does is bitch and moan... Arizona this.. My wife that. She's so annoying." Teddy teased.

"Watch it Altman."

"I'm playing, but she really misses you too. I'm headed over to your house actually. You know.. To relax and chill out in the hot tube." Teddy replied. She didn't want to ruin Callie's surprise so she didn't tell her friend that she was relaxing with Henry in the hot tube and not Callie.

"Aww. Thanks for spending some time with her Teds. She was excited for me to do this but I know it's killing her just as much as it is me that I'm away for this long."

"You can always count on me buddy. Well... except cuddling.. I still refuse to do that."

"Whatever Teddy." Arizona rolled her eyes as the waiter came and brought her dinner.

"How you feeling, sweetie?"

"I'm feeling fine. Normal." She shrugged even though Teddy couldn't see her. "I'm tired, but I'm sure it's from sitting in those chairs all day. I'm not used to that. But.. I've been extremely hungry lately."

"Oh yeah?" Teddy sounded exited.

"Yeah, but it's not because of that." Arizona said, cupping her stomach again. "It's because I've done nothing but sit there all day and all I think about is food.. Because I get bored." She laughed. "But it's still interesting."

"Are you wanting to eat because you're bored or are wanting to eat because you're depressed that you miss me so bad?"

"Because I miss you so much Theodora." The blonde laughed as the waiter brought her dinner. "Listen, my food just arrived, tell Cal to call me."

"Okay, stay safe. Love you Zo."

"Love you too Teds. Bye" Arizona said, hanging up the phone, seeing the woman that she's been avoiding all week walk into the room.

"Shit." She mumbled under her breath, not looking back up at all costs. Hoping if she was on the phone the woman would get the hint and leave her alone, Arizona dialed her wife's number again. "Please pick up.. Please pick up." She said to herself. "Hey it's me again, I miss you." She sighed, hanging the phone up just as a woman walked up to her table. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath.

"Wow. You are one of the hardest people to get up with." She said, pulling out a chair and sitting across the blonde.

"What are you doing here?" Arizona asked, laying her hands in her lap.

"I just wanted to come and say hi, and congratulate you on your success. You really have made a name for yourself in just a few years Robbie."

"Do not call me that, JoAnn." Arizona said, through her teeth. She's not heard from her ex girlfriend since the night she caught her cheating on her in her apartment. Not even a text or an I'm sorry about the loss of your brother, Nothing. And for that, the blonde had been thankful because she didn't want any sympathy from the woman. And now when she thinks back to that night and the repercussions of everything that happened, she was somewhat thankful for the dark blonde haired woman. Because in a strange way she led her to Callie.

"Sorry." JoAnn said, holding up her hands. "Just habit I guess. But you've done so much with your career in a few short years. It's amazing.

"When you surround yourself with people who love and respect you.. and who wants what's best for you and wants to see you accomplish so much.. it makes it essay." Arizona smiled.

"And you were offered the Carter Maddison? Wow.. I just wanted to say I'm proud. But I can't believe you turned it down.. Are you crazy?"

"Well first off, thank you JoAnn." Arizona smiled, thinking about all the new people that has came into her life in the last few years. And now talking to the woman, it seemed like JoAnn had turned her life around. So maybe avoiding her all week was meaningless. "It was an easy decision for me, I never wanted this award. I'm stunned and it's a great accomplishment that I was awarded, but I have bigger and better things in my life that I want more than this, so." She shrugged. It wasn't something she needed to think about, she would always pick Callie over anything and everything in her life. "How have you been? What are you doing here? You were an RN when I last say you." Arizona asked, taking a bite of her pasta.

"Oh yeah, that was what? Almost three years?" JoAnn laughed.

"Yeah. Three next month." The blonde confirmed.

"Well believe it or not, I'm here with my classmates. I'm getting ready to graduate with med school and I'm interested in working with kids." She shrugged.

"I thought you used to hate kids?" Arizona questioned. "You hated visiting me at work because of them."

"People change."

"That they do." The blonde nodded. That was one of the truest statements she has ever heard. Because before Callie, she never saw herself getting married and having kids, much less carrying a child.

The two continued to make small talk for several minutes while Arizona finished her meal. "So what's new with you?" The woman asked.

"Everything. I'm a completely different person than I was before. I've got a ton of friends and someone amazing in my life that makes me want to just scream with joy just thinking about her. My life couldn't get any better even if I tried." Arizona replied.

"That's good."

"What about you JoAnn?"

"I.. ahh.. Well I've just really immersed myself with my schooling. So that's all I've known for a few years." JoAnn shrugged. She knew this was her chance, it was now or never. "But.. I will say this.. seeing you this week... It just makes me miss having someone to love. I miss you Robbie." She said, laying her hand on top of the blondes. "I miss what we used to have. I have never stopped loving you, Zoey."

Arizona was shocked, she hadn't seen this woman since the night her brother died and now she has the gall to sit here and talk to her like nothing ever happened between them and then tell her how bad she misses her? "I'm.. I.. You don't miss me!" She said, taking her hand out of the woman's hold. "You don't miss me." She stood up from the table, for some reason hearing her ex say this just set her off. "What we had was nothing. It was toxic. You never loved me, you never cared for me. I think I was just good for your ego.. Or or maybe you just didn't want to be alone. Or maybe I made you feel better about your miserable life. And I know it was miserable. And I know it was miserable because I was miserable when I was with you. You never loved me and I know I never loved you."

"I did and I know you did too." JoAnn stood up in front of her. "And seeing you again made me realize, I still do. I love you Arizona and I miss you so much." She said, takin the blondes hands.

Arizona was frozen in her spot, she couldn't even fathom JoAnn would try to even hit on her let alone this. She expected the darker blonde to put her down at every chance she got just like she used to do when they were together.

"All I'm asking for is a chance. A chance to see let you see I've changed. Let me show you what it's liked to really be loved." She said, bringing the blondes hand up to kiss the top of her smooth skink.

Scoffing, "Really be loved? I am really loved.. beyond words." She rolled her eyes. "I.. I.. I'm married and I may very well be carrying her baby..." She let slip out. "I'm happy. Happier than I could have ever hoped for and I love her. And I'm not just saying love. I mean.. I love her. It's like I can't think about anything or anybody. I can't sleep.. or.. or breathe when she's not around. Every second of every day.. she's all I think about. It's.. it's like I'm infected by her. What we had JoAnn was nothing. You never loved me, because you don't hurt the person you love." Arizona said, jerking her hands out of the woman's hold.

"Let me show you." JoAnn said, cupping the back of the blondes neck and pulling her in for a kiss. It wasn't anything sensual, no tongue but it wasn't just a peck either.

Before Arizona could even comprehend what was happening, the other woman pulled back from the kiss. "I've changed, Arizona." She said, pulling a business card out from the inside of her blazer she was wearing. "Think about it, Robbie. I'm here till Friday." JoAnn said, before turning and walking out.

Arizona just stood there, reeling about what just happened. It took all she had to not run to the bathroom and throw up the small amount of food she had just consumed. She couldn't believe JoAnn kissed her. She needed to go.. she had to get out of there before the darker blonde decided to come back. Arizona felt like she needed to wash her mouth out with bleach after feeling someone else's lips on hers that wasn't Callie's. Berating herself for not shoving JoAnn off her, she reached for her purse on the table as she cursed herself under her breath. Glancing up, she saw a set of brown eyes she didn't expect to see for another two or three days. Callie was standing with tearstained cheeks frozen in the window staring at her. "Calliope..." She gasped.

Just to reiterate what I've said throughout this story, I'm having things go the way I want them to go and sometimes it may not coincide with reality.

Uh..ooooh.. What's going to happen now?! Will Callie go all firery latina on her and then hop on the first flight back home... or to Miami?! Or will she stay and hear her wife out?!
