Chapter 74
Deciding on taking a seat in the back of the auditorium so she could take a few breathers every now and then because let's face it, Callie thought this conference was boring. But seeing her wife strand at the podium and demand attention was getting her all kinds of hot. Watching her wife work the crowded room with ease made Callie so proud, yet turned on something fierce.
During Arizona's time on stage a slightly familiar dark blonde kept interrupting her presentation yet again for the second day on a row with nonsense questions and Callie had about enough. The same thing had happened yesterday during the first conference Callie had attended with her wife and now yet again the woman she now knows as JoAnn was testing her limits. Callie couldn't help but notice the way she was looking at her wife. And after talking to Arizona about it last night in their suite room, she decided to just ignore the woman the same way the blonde had all week.
Watching the woman walk out of the room after her wife sat back down in stage, Callie suddenly had an urge to use the bathroom. If JoAnn was going to have a little fun, so was she. Quickly making her way out of the room just a few yards behind her wife's ex girlfriend, Callie followed her down the hallway to the restrooms. "Perfect." She smiled to herself seeing there was a small line at the ladies room. Walking up behind JoAnn, Callie smiled brightly when the woman turned towards her for a quick moment.
Leaning against the wall, she let out a sigh to get the other woman's attention again. "That was some presentation by Dr. Robbins, huh."
"It was." JoAnn politely turned and smiled at her, not recognizing the brunette.
"That was some tough questions you were asking her, but she handled them gracefully don't you think?" Callie asked.
"She did." The dark blonde nodded.
This was going to be harder than Callie thought. She wasn't one to confront people often not that she was confronting JoAnn, but it seemed like when her wife was involved she would go into predator mode to let people know she wasn't the one to be played with. "She's something else."
"Yeah.. She's pretty great." JoAnn agreed.
"Oh.. you sound like you're speaking from experience. Do you know her?" Callie played into her.
"You could say that.. yeah." She shrugged.
"Ahh.." Callie nodded. "Were you a... thing?" She asked, looking the blonde over. She wasn't drop dead gorgeous like her wife, but JoAnn was a very attractive woman.
"Yeah, we were... could be again." JoAnn shrugged. "I don't know. It's complicated right now, but the balls in her court."
"Really.. It's just.." The brunette shook her head. Callie knew what had happened between this woman and her wife and she didn't fear of her marriage because she knew Arizona loved her. "Nothing, sorry. I don't mean to be nosy." She smiled and leaned her head against the wall.
"No, go ahead."
"It's just.. She doesn't seem to be the type to.." Callie shrugged.
"To what.. to be gay? Are you one of those people that says, it's a shame all the pretty ones are either married or gay."
"No.. no not at all." Callie said. "She just... doesn't seem to be the type to go for someone like yourself."
"What is that suppose to mean?" JoAnn turned fully towards the brunette and crossed her arms.
Shrugging. "It means.. I'd think she would go for someone hotter.. more sexier.. more.. badass than.. well.. you." She said, looking the woman up and down.
Scoffing at the brunettes words, JoAnn rolled her eyes. "What? You'd think she'd go for someone like you?"
"I don't know.. maybe? I mean it's not too far fetched, I'm pretty.. Right?"
"You're okay... But Arizona being interesting in you.. only in your dreams." The blonde laughed.
"Oookay... Let's make a bet." Callie as stated.
"What kind of bet?"
"I bet I can get her to take me back to her room."
"Ha! In your dreams." JoAnn rolled her eyes. "Like she would ever go for someone like you."
"Why? What's wrong with someone like me?" Callie asked her. She tried to hide the grin that was forming on her face. She wasn't always confident, and didn't find herself sexy like her wife did but she felt that way when the blonde was around.
"Look at you." JoAnn said, looking the brunette up and down. "You know what.. never mind." She smiled at the brunette, trying just bite her tongue when the blonde they've been talking about came into view. "If you think you are all that, then why don't you go try."
"You know what, if you're so confident. Why don't you go first." Callie said, turning and seeing her wife standing by the door of the conference hall.
"You'll regret that." JoAnn said forgetting all about using the restroom and walking up the her ex girlfriend.
Callie watched at the very confident woman stride over to her wife. Seeing Arizona roll her eyes as the other blonde walked up, Callie couldn't help but giggle out loud as she caught her wife's eye and sent her a wink.
Watching as her wife quickly shut down the darker blonde, Callie hid the grin on her face as JoAnn walked back over to her. "So.. didn't go so we Huh?" She gave the woman a sad look.
"She's just.. busy. Maybe later." JoAnn shrugged.
"Fifty bucks says I can kiss her within the first thirty seconds."
"A hundred bucks if you can get her to kiss you." JoAnn stated, knowing there was no way in her the woman would be able to do it."
"Deal." Callie said, holding out her hand for the woman to shake.
"Remember, she's got to initiate the kiss."
"Got it." Callie said, straightening her blouse and giving her hair a quick flip.
Walking up to her wife, she gave her a quick seductive wink before stopping in front of her. "Hi." She grinned.
"Hey you." Arizona replied, tucking a section of hair behind the brunettes ear. "What are you up too?" She said leaning in for a quick kiss.
"Nothing.." Callie shrugged, looking over seeing JoAnn's mouth was agape in shock. "You just kissed me like you would kiss your grandma. Kiss me like you mean it." She whispered to the blonde.
Pulling Callie in by the front of her shirt, Arizona cupped the back of her wife's head as she poured all the love she had into that one kiss. "You feel loved now?"
"Mmhmm.." Callie moaned as her wife pulled back from the kiss. "You were amazing up there yet again. I'm so proud of you Arizona."
"Thank you, Calliope. But it's all because of you. You make me strive to be my best." She smiled, caressing her wife's face.
"That's what I'm here for, to keep that ass in line." She winked, laughing when Arizona pinched her on the side.
"Let's go get some dinner and then call it a night. I can't wait to get home, it's been too long." This was her last night as a speaker at the conference and she thought about staying through the rest of the weekend until the end of the talks but decided against it when she saw her wife. It only made her miss home and their dogs more.
"Okay.. Just hold on one second." She said, dropping her wife's hand and sauntering back down the hall to JoAnn.
"What the hell was that?" The woman asked after she watched the exchange with the two woman.
"What can I say... No one can resist my charm." Callie smiled at the woman. "Pay up!" She said holding her hand out. "She's taking me to her room."
"Bull shit. What the hell did you say to her to get her to kiss you like that?" JoAnn said, pulling a hundred dollar bill out of her wallet and handed it to the brunette.
"Well.." Callie said, sticking the money down her bra. "I just said hi." she shrugged. "And she like.. attacked me."
"No.. that..." The blonde shook her head. "That's not her. Just kissing some random stranger."
"Ohh.. I'm not random nor a stranger... I'm sorry, I stood here and had a personal conversation with you and I never introduced myself. "I'm Callie." She said, holding her hand out for the dark blonde to shake.
"JoAnn Blankenship." She said, shaking Callie's hand.
"Well.. Dr. Callie Robbins actually. And I know your name already JoAnn. You're the woman who kissed my wife the other night." She smiled seeing the dark blondes eyes widen at her realization.
"There's no way she'd pick someone like you." JoAnn said as Callie held up her hand to show her wedding and engagement ring on her finger. "You just played me." She scoffed, pushing the brunette on the shoulder roughly.
"Just like you played my wife.. or should I say your then girlfriend.. when you cheated on her... huh?" Callie smiled. "She's a lot to loose, so I understand.." She said, looking around to make sure no one else was around. "..why you threw yourself on her the other day. I can't blame you at all." She said, pushing JoAnn back on the wall in the hallway, just like the other woman did her. "Look at her." The brunette said, grabbing the woman's jaw and turning her head towards where her wife was standing. "She's beautiful.. breathtakingly stunning and you let her go. That was your choice, not hers. But I'm thankful you did, because she's mine now and I'm never letting her go. So if you ever.." Callie gritted through her teeth, when JoAnn's eyes widened. "Look at her, much less touch her again, I will break every single bone in your fucking body. Got it?" She said, shoving her again when JoAnn tried to fight back.
"Who do you think you are. I can get you for assault."
"You have no proof."
"Hotel footage!" JoAnn smiled, pointing up to the camera in the corner.
"Ha! Try. My maiden name is Torres.. as in the Torres Estates that your sorry ass is standing in. One word from me and those tapes are gone. I can be your worst nightmare, just try me."
Shock evident on the dark blondes face, she couldn't believe the brunette but she was never one to back down from anything. "I'm not scared of you."
"Oh, honey. I don't want you to be scared of me, there is nothing to be scared about.. Unless you cross the line again. And then.. the only thing you should fear is your life." Callie glared at her.
"You're just a little tramp she calls her wife, but you'll drive her away, or she'll push you away. That's what's she's good at, let me guess.. Does she put her family first? I know she doesn't put her brother first anymore since she went and got his ass killed. That's what she used to do to me, Tim was always first when it came to her. Kinda made you wonder what was going on in that relationship. I mean.. lets face it, siblings shouldn't be that close if you know what I mean." She said, grabbing Callie by the collar of her jacket and pushing the brunette off her.
Callie was surprised by the woman's strength, her eyes widening when JoAnn tried to insinuate something between her wife and her brother-in-law. "You don't know anything." She said, jerking JoAnn's hands away from her. "If anyone got him killed, it was you. How do you sleep at night JoAnn? Huh? Knowing that because of you, they were at that park. They both were attacked. Arizona almost raped and he was murdered. That's because of you." She said, pushing the woman's shoulders again. Hearing JoAnn basically trash her wife and her dead brother-in-law infuriated her. "I've know the Robbins since I was little and they are humble people, every single one of them." Callie growled. "And now they are my family and I protect the things I love. I won't let you or anyone else talk about them like that. So I suggest you shut your goddamn mouth now, or I'll shut it for you."
"After the kiss we shared the other day.. She'll come running to me sooner or later, she's got my number." JoAnn said, straightening her clothes.
"In your goddamn dreams." Callie scoffed, crossing her arms, trying to keep herself from strangling this woman right now. She really had some gall. "From what she has said since she's been with me, you were the biggest mistake of her life."
"I don't see it at all." JoAnn mimicked Callie's stance.
"See what?"
"She said she couldn't breath or some bull shit when you weren't around. She also told me something else." JoAnn stepped closer to the brunette. "She said she was going to have your baby." She laughed. "I know, Arizona. If you make her have a baby.. much less carry said baby that she has never wanted, she will be out the door and in no time back in my arms. Trust me."
Callie laughed at that. She was the only one that really knew Arizona besides Teddy, and even then she knew her wife better than Teddy. "You think what you want." Callie said, fixing JoAnn's collar of her shirt she had previously ruffed up. She was finished with this conversation. "But just remember, try anything again.." Callie said, leaning closer to the blonde. "..and I will kill you with my bare hands." She whispered before walking away to find her wife while leaving JoAnn to swallow the huge lump in her throat at Callie's threat. She had never come across someone as bold and confidant as Callie before. Looking around, JoAnn straightened her shirt one more time before clearing her throat and turning to enter the now empty bathroom to collect herself.
Making it to her wife, Callie smiled at the squinting blonde. "Ready to go, babe?"
"Mmhmm.." Arizona eyed her wife. "What did you say to her, Callie?" She crossed her arms. She had saw the whole thing between her old ex and her wife even them putting their hands on each other but deciding to stay away cause she knew her wife could handle the dark blonde on her own. She didn't need to be in the middle of that, not in her possible condition.
"Nothing." The brunette shrugged. "But.. dinners on her tonight." She smiled pulling out the hundred dollar bill out of her bra.
"And why do you have that?" Arizona said, taking her wife's hand and leading them to the elevators to go back to their room.
"Well we had a bet that I could get you to kiss me within thirty seconds." She laughed.
"Calliope, you are evil." She chuckled. "What all happened over there.. It looked pretty heated?" The blonde asked.
"Nothing.. it doesn't matter." Callie tried to brush it off as the entered the car.
"You can go ahead and say it Cal. I know how she works. She always downed me or my family." Hearing her wife talk, Callie looked up at her sadly. "Ahh.. so she mentioned Tim." Arizona nodded. JoAnn always through her relationship with him up in her face because she was jealous of him.
"It doesn't matter what she said, what matters is she got the point after I was finished with her." Callie said, snaking her arms around her wife's waist. "How could you be with someone like that?" She asked quietly.
"I don't know.. I honestly don't know." Arizona said shaking her head. "But now I have someone now who loves me unconditionally and always puts me on a pedi stool even when I think she shouldn't."
"You deserve everything."
"So do you." The blonde nudged her. "Thank you." She smiled sadly at her wife.
"What for?"
"For defending my honor."
"I protect the things I love." Callie winked, placing a kiss on her wife's temple as she lead the blonde by the small back out of the lift and to their suite to get ready for dinner.
"What do you say we go out to that Italian restaurant down the block?" Callie asked after they went into their room.
"I was just thinking the same thing. I could really go for some lasagna right now." The blonde said pulling her shirt over her head to change into something more comfier now that the conference was over. "Hey Cal?" Arizona said, wanting to voice her thoughts to her wife about earlier.
"Yeah sweetie?"
"If.. if she said anything to make you doubt me, you'd tell me right? I know her.. and I know her games she plays. She can easily get into you head and you don't even realize it."
"She said some stuff." Callie confirmed. "But not until she found out who I was.. that's when she really ran her mouth. But I don't believe them babe. I guess you had told her we were going to have a baby?"
Sighing, she didn't think JoAnn really caught on to her slip up. "Yeah, it just came out and to be honest, I didn't think she was hearing me."
"It's okay.. don't apologize for her, honey." The brunette said walking up to her now redressed wife. "She tried to get to me, but I know better. She things she knows you, but she doesn't know you at all." She said talking her wife's hand.
"So you're not going to tell me what she said, huh?"
"Nope, because it doesn't matter what she said. I love you and I think you may love me a little." She winked. "And we're starting a family... That's all that matters, not some whore monger from your past." She said, kissing her wife's knuckles. "You know why else it doesn't matter?"
"Why?" Arizona laughed.
"Because she's your past. Me and this little guy here.. our your future." She smiled, placing a hand on her wife's stomach.
At her wife's soft touch, Arizona's eyes watered. She was so in love with this woman in front of her it was ridiculous. "I love you, Calliope." She said, nestling her face against her wife's.
"I love you too, Arizona."
I really enjoyed this chapter and badass Calliope Robbins! Sorry this one isn't as long as usually, but with my mom in the hospital, I've done a lot of running back and forth and my time is minimal for a little while.
