Chapter 11
Rudy's Take
Rudy
He sets the bo staffs back in place. He has done this ten times before making this the eleventh time. He glanced up at the clock and sighed.
Everyone is late. Again.
Just then the glass doors opened letting Phil in.
"Hello, Rudy."
"Hi, Phil."
"I was wondering when the Wasabi Warriors are coming over for falafel. It's been too long, Rudy. I never see them anymore. No, I did see Jack and the Kims but, they were not talking. And I saw Eddie at this healthy store... Come to think of it I see them all the time. Why the not come to see the Phils. Was it something the Phil said?"
"No, Phil, it wasn't you." Rudy answered.
Phil pat his chest in relief, "good, the Phils was scared."
"I don't know what's going on. We were fine not three weeks ago, now it's like i'm some stranger."
Rudy slumps down on a bench. Phil sits beside him and frowns.
"Don't feel bad, Rudy. They will come around."
Rudy looks up and over to Phil, he tried to smile. Right at that moment he spotted a familiar face in the courtyard.
"I don't know but, I'm about to get answers."
Rudy got to his feet and rushed out to Eddie. He standing next to a table on his phone with ear buds in. Rudy stopped right across him only the table between them.
"Eddie," He called out to him.
He didn't hear him so, Rudy went around the table until he was in front of him. Eddie looked up and smiled.
"Hey, Rudy, what's up?"
"That's all you have to say? After a week and a half of no communication or anything. That's all?"
"I'm sorry, Rudy. I've been really caught up with other stuff."
"Like what?"
"Well, I'm singing again."
Rudy tilted his head in slight confusion. He had known Eddie for a long time, longer than any of the other Wasabi Warriors. He also knew why Eddie gave up singing. It was such a dark time for him. He remember his parents dragging him here because he was at risk for diabetes or other weight related diseases and his anger issues. He had gotten over it somewhat but, now he seemed like a whole new person.
Not just physically but, his mental state has seemed to improved as well and this was only an observation.
"That's great, Eddie. What made you want to start singing again?"
Eddie sighed, "I just felt like I needed to grab a hold of my life instead of it having a hold on me."
Rudy smiled and nodded.
"And Drake. But I don't want to go into all that."
"Drake? Like the rapper?"
"What? No, Drake like the guy that was with Kim."
"Isn't she supposed to be with Jack?"
Eddie tilted his head in confusion.
"What? I'm their sensei and I'm not blind. So, what's up with them?"
"Jack missed out big time. Kim gave him two chances to tell her how he felt and he didn't. Jerry won't talk to Jack because of it."
"Because he used to like Kim."
"Yes, Jack liked Kim since he got here but, Jerry has had a crush on her since we started high school. Kim, you know, kinda gravitated toward Jack more than Jerry. So, Jerry backed off."
"What about Milton?"
"I don't know. I talked to him yesterday and he said that he's been doing fine but... I don't know. I'm actually on my way to see him."
Rudy knew this was his way to reconnect. Finally, the pain of loneliness would be gone. Finally, he could be with at least two of his Wasabi Warriors.
"Can I come with?"
Eddie smiles, "sure."
./.
Eddie knocks three times and then they wait. Rudy is excited with a big smile on his face. Eddie is concerned with a worried look on his face.
The door opens revealing Milton. He is in a plain white t-shirt and sweats. His usually spiked hair is a mess and his eyes are squinted because of the bright afternoon light the open door is letting in.
Milton looks between them both, "hey guys."
"Hey, Milton, " holds up a bag of doughnut balls and tea, "I brought the stuff."
Milton moves the side letting them both in. They walk in and sit on the couch. The t.v is on blasting some old Bill Nye video.
"Hey, Rudy." Milton says as he eats a doughnut ball.
"Hi, Milton. So you want to explain to me why I had to enroll old people so, I can teach jujitsu and keep my dojo afloat, instead of teaching karate to my favorite students?"
He didn't mean it to come out so rude but, he was in pain and couldn't help it. Milton leans against the pleather couch and winces slightly. Rudy notices this and frowns.
Has he been trying to learn karate on his own?
"I've been slammed with work." he lied.
Rudy leans forward onto his knees. The euthasism for seeing his friends has died and is replaced with bitter anger. He grits his teeth to keep from saying something he would regret.
"Milton, I know you better than most. And I can tell when you're lying. Please just tell me what going on."
Milton stared at him for a moment before looking away. He intertwined his fingers.
"Well?" Rudy urged.
"Rudy please." Eddie cut in.
"No, he is hiding something. Aren't you Milton?"
Milton didn't move a muscle.
"Do you know?" Rudy asked turning to Eddie.
Eddie opened his mouth but, closed it when he realized he had nothing to say. He didn't know either.
Figures.
"Why haven't you been coming to karate?"
Milton remains still and stares at the screen.
"Milton."
Rudy grows impatient.
He stands, "Milton."
Milton jumps up, suddenly, and away from Rudy. He trips over his own feet and falls. He scoots away with his hands covering his head.
"Please don't - don't hurt me please."
Rudy steps back and Eddie rushes past him.
"Milton, calm down. No ones gonna hurt you. It's just me and Rudy. No ones gonna hurt you."
Rudy watched in partial horror and surprise as Milton began to cry into Eddie's shoulder. He didn't know what to do or say.
He felt utterly useless.
./.
He knocked on Jack's door four times and waited.
His father answered the door.
"Hello, Rudy. What can I do for you?"
"I actually need to speak to Jack. Is he around?"
"No, he's hanging out with a girl named Donna, I think. You want me to pass along a message?"
"No thank you. Have a good afternoon."
"You too."
He closes the door but, Rudy is still. He didn't know what to do.
Kim. Maybe Kim's free.
Rudy jogged over to Kim's house. He knocked on the door and waited. A few minutes passed and no one answered. He knocked again, still no answer.
No one must be home. I really need friends my age.
./.
Jerry didn't pick up his phone. So, that left Rudy to either himself or his girlfriend. He sat alone his dojo where his quest to figure out what was going on with his Wasabi Warriors began. His quest had yielded results just not the ones he wanted. He rubs his face and tries to think.
What can I do?
Then an idea popped into his head.
All he needs to do is get all the Wasabi Warriors together. It would take some lying and manipulating but, he will succeed, if everything goes according to plan.
Rudy smiled at his cleverness and wit.
Not too shabby, Rudy. Not too shabby.
Hello everyone!
So, Kickin' It just ended a few days ago.
Moment of silence for the end of the best show in the world.
*Silence*
I think the thing that will stick with me the most is the Wasabi Warrior Code to never give up and never say die. How they were totally different but, the same. How their chemistry was enough to make me to see that in my own life. How they ruined my life but, in all the best ways. How they taught me how to be brave for not just myself but, for other, especially those in need.
I will forever and always love Kickin' It and the Wasabi Warriors.
We swear by the light of the Dragon's eye to be loyal and honest and never say die. Wasabi. ~03/25/15~
Alright, now that I got all that of my chest. How did you like it? Please review, favorite, and follow.
Even if you didn't like it.
Again, thank you for all the ideas but, I would really appreciate some actual feedback.
Also, no this is not an AU. This would be the fourth season if, instead of Kim leaving, new people came.
I love you all and hope you stay committed to the Kickin' It FanFiction.:)
Oh, and Leo's hair is great. I don't know about all of you but, I love it short. And that jawline, it cut me just looking at it. lol ;D
