Chapter 80
"Callie?" Arizona called as she walked through the front door of her home after work. Unlike the brunette, she wasn't fortunate enough to have the day off. "Babe?" She called out again as she threw her keys on the table and pulled off her shoes and socks before doing the same with her jeans. It was hot as hell outside and all she wanted to do this evening was relax by the pool and drink margaritas with her wife. Callie alway made the best drinks.
"Oh, hey boy." She petted her dog as he trotted into the room. "Where's mommy? Huh?" She said pulling out a piece of paper that was stuffed in his collar. "Whatcha got here?"
You're mission, my beautiful wife, should you choose to accept, is to find your weapon within the next five minutes and avoid being hit. First person with five kill shots gets an evening of pampering. Should you win (which is highly unlikely) you will sit back with your feet propped up while I make you an amazing dinner followed by some pampering. Should you lose (very likely) I will receive the pampering, including a very long back rub. :)
P.S. We love you, but for the next ten minutes or so, you and Charlie are our enemy.
XO, Callie & River
Laughing at the note, the blonde, laid the paper on the table and went in search for her weapon. "Should we accept their challenge Charlie? I did have a rough day. Mamas feet hurt. I could go for a foot rub." She said, looking at her watch.
Walking into the kitchen, "Where did she hide it, huh?" Arizona asked, looking through all the kitchen cabinets. "Not there. Help me buddy, times a waistin'." She said, opening the pantry door finding two empty Nerf gun boxes on the floor. "Uh-oh.. Busted. Mommy left a paper trail, so at least we know what we're looking for." She said moving the two boxes. "Where's it at.. huh?" She said, causing Charlie to bark. "Show mama." She said as he ran off into the laundry room.
Hot on the dogs trail, she followed him into the room where he went straight for a basket. "No." She slapped him on his behind. "No biting." She said as he growled and let go of the handle of the basket. "Ah-ha!" She said pulling the Elite Blaster Nerf Gun from the clothes hamper. "She's not too smart if she let you watch her hide it, huh?" She said making sure the gun was loaded. "Good boy Charlie." She said looking carefully around the room, making sure the brunette wasn't hiding somewhere in the corner. She was going to win this battle because she sure as hell didn't feel like cooking tonight.
"You're too damn loyal." Callie growled. Giving a slight whistle to get the dogs attention as Arizona walked back out of the laundry room. She had watched from the doggie door leading to the garage as Charlie showed Arizona where she had just recently hid the gun. Quickly pulling out another piece of paper, she scribbled something down on it and stuffed it back in the Britney's collar for the blonde to find.
Dashing out of the house through the garage, she then ran around to the front door, slowly creeping inside and up the stairs not to be seen. Hearing footsteps downstairs, Callie took her place on the hallway floor in front of the banisters where River was still lying. Her fully automatic Nerf blaster already locked and loaded waiting for the blonde to walk by at the right time.
Since the miscarriage a month ago, they both have been present and up front with each other about how they've felt about their situation. Both had some rough days, but now they were trying to put that part of their life behind them. Every weekend since, one of the girls would plan a date on the weekend and tonight was the brunettes turn. Callie had had the day off and decided to have a little fun tonight with her wife, she wanted to get back to the fun and romantic side of things. They hadn't been intimate since before the mishap, Callie didn't want to push her wife into anything she wasn't ready for. She remembered that Addison had told her that sometimes women would find it hard to be intimate after a loss like that, so she kept things low key with only a few make out sessions on the couch. This weekend she had hoped it would be their weekend to be one again. All week her wife had been extra flirty at work and at home and Callie felt that Arizona was telling her she was ready. She just hoped she was right.
Hearing a noise, Arizona turned around firing the gun without even realizing what she was shooting at, she just wanted to make sure she got the first hit. "Damn it, Charlie." She said as he walked by her. "Whoa..." She pulled the rolled up note out of his collar.
You look cute walking around here in your panties ;) XO
"Calliope Iphigenia Robbins, come out and show your face." She yell after reading the note and walking back towards the laundry room where she had just came out of. She knew her wife had to be around there somewhere because the dog had been behind her the whole time.
"Shh.. River. Hush." Callie whispered as her dog let out a bark when he heard Arizona yell.
Hearing the husky yelp out got her attention, Arizona turned back around and walked out of the kitchen towards the living room. "River, come to mama." She called out hoping that he would give away their hiding spot.
Callie was thankful their dogs were pretty well mannered, one glare from her could usually get them to stop in their tracks and heel, but her stare this evening weren't keeping the husky from being excited to see that his Mama was home from work. "No." She whispered as the blonde came by the stairs, causing, River to bark again and run down to meet his other owner.
Seeing the dog coming down the stairs, she also saw her wife lying on the floor upstairs with her gun pointed right at her. "Busted." Arizona yelled up to her wife as she hid around the corner of the room. "Give it up."
"Never." Callie shot the gun at her wife as the blonde poked her head into view.
"Oww.." Arizona yelped when she was hit right in the forehead.
"One down, four to go. Give it up now Robbins and I'll take it easy on you."
"No hitting above the shoulders, you'll put an eye out." Arizona yelled up to Callie as she darted back behind the corner of the room.
"Buck up you sissy." She heard her wife yell. Looking around the area, she tried to come up with a strategy to get to her wife without being the target. Deciding to dart past the doorway opening in hopes of not getting hit, she made it to the other side of the room where she could easily get her wife without being seen so well. Lightly stepping under the breezeway where Callie was laying above her, Arizona held her gun up blindly shooting off bullets, hoping it hit her wife.
"Oww, shit.." Callie yelled out grabbing her eye.
Stepping back, Arizona saw Callie kneeling up on her knees. "Oh god. Did I hurt you?" She threw the gun down on the nearby chair and ran up the stairs to her wife.
"Suckerrrr..." Callie laughed as she turned the gun on her wife and blasted her with multiple bullets.
"What the.." Arizona yelled trying to cover her face to shield herself. "You are such a bitch." She laughed when Callie ran out of ammo. "You tricked me." She pouted at the top of the stairs.
"All is fair in love and war babe." Callie shrugged, sitting her gun back down.
"Oh no. No.. no no.. THAT isn't fair!" She said seeing her wife's gun. "You gave me that little pussy ass gun and you have big Bertha. Totally unfair."
"Your gun isn't little."
"Compared to that it is." Arizona laughed pointing at the brunettes gun.
"Okay, well how about we'll cook dinner together? I know I said we'd go out tonight, but I'd rather stay in. I don't feel like putting a bra on." She laughed. "It's been pretty nice walking around here all day without one."
"So you've free boobed it all day, huh?" Arizona arched her eyebrow.
"Yep." Callie smiled as her wife pulled at her shirt.
"I'm sorry I missed that."
"Don't be, If your nice, I may go the rest of the evening like that too." She winked.
"Well.." Arizona said, brushing her thumbs over her wife's nipples, eliciting chills from the brunette. Giggling when she saw her wife shiver, "How about we order some Chinese and relax down by the shore for the rest of the evening? Because I really don't feel like putting my pants back on or cooking either." The blonde chuckled.
"Mmm.. That sounds like a good night." Callie said, kissing her wife and wrapping her arms around her. "How was your day?"
"It was good. I missed you though."
"I missed you too." Callie replied with another kiss to pink lips.
"Mmm.. I can tell you have."
"How?"
"You've sat on the couch all day and ate Oreo cookies!" Arizona giggled.
"Damn it, I totally forgot to brush my teeth." She pouted.
"And probably a whole pack."
"Hey! Listen, you know good as well as I do that if no ones around, calories don't count."
"Of course they don't love." Arizona said, grabbing her wife's love handles.
"Hey." Callie pouted.
"I still love you. Even if you ate ten packs."
"Good, Cause I ate probably a half a pack." She grinned.
Instead of ordering out, they decided to make dinner together. The whole time they were cooking small caresses and touches were shared, just enjoying each other's presence.
"So, I talked to Addison today at lunch." Arizona told her wife as they enjoyed a moonlit stroll on the beach in front of their home after their dinner.
"Oh, you did?" Callie asked nervously. She wasn't sure if they were ready for this conversation or not.
"Mmhmm."
"What about?"
"About trying again."
"So.. you're ready?" Callie asked nervously.
"Well.. no not yet. I mean, we've not even made love since.." She shrugged. "But I want too."
"You do?" Callie asked looking over at her wife, seeing the moonlight dance on the water behind her making for a beautiful view.
"Yeah, I do." Arizona said, brushing her wife's stray hair behind her ear.
"I don't ever want to rush you into anything, if your not ready, we'll wait. I'm fine with waiting." She said, grabbing her wife's hands.
"You're not rushing me into anything. You've been so patient with me. And I appreciate it, because I've not been ready for that yet. But I'm ready now. I miss you."
"I miss you too." Callie smiled softly.
"Glad to hear that." She winked, leaning in to kiss red lips.
"Lets sit." Callie said, when her wife pulled back from the kiss. Sitting down in the sand and guiding the blonde to sit between her legs. "So what all did Addie say?"
"Well.." The blonde said, sitting down and leaning back against Callie's front. "She said that we could try again whenever we were ready. Said that the sooner we try, the better the chances are of a good outcome." She said as Callie wrapped her up in her arms.
"Well.. I'm going to be honest with you. I'm ready, but I'm also scared, Arizona." Callie whispered.
"I am too, Calliope." She said, lacing her hands with her wife's. "But we want this and I'm sure when we do become pregnant again, every little hiccup I have I'll want to go get checked out."
"And I'll be there to keep you calm." She laughed, resting her chin on the blondes shoulder. "I don't want to rush out tomorrow and try to get you pregnant. I still think your body needs some more time."
"I do too."
"I need to tell you something though before we decide on anything." The brunette said.
"Kay?" Arizona said, turning in her wife's arms, giving the brunette her full attention.
"I love you and I'm not with you for the sex which is damn near spectacular for the record." She grinned. "And I'm not with you just to have a baby either. I'm with you because I want to spend my forever with you." She stressed. "I just don't want you to think you have to do anything right now for me. I'm not rushing you, I have only wanted to give you time. Because I understand it. I mean.. I'm not you, I didn't loose the baby. But it feels like I did. Maybe it's just because I'm a woman, I don't really know how I'm suppose to feel." She shrugged. "But I felt this loss just like you and I know I wouldn't have wanted to be pushed into anything.. sex or another baby. So I want you to know right now.. I'm not asking anything from you. I don't want you to feel like you have to try again for me. I'm ready when you're ready, whether that's next month, six months from now or never. If you feel like you can't do this I don't want you too. I don't want to put you through that again if it's not what you want."
"Calliope." Arizona smiled, taking her wife's hands. Sometimes it blew her mind that she ended up with such an amazing, caring, selfless, loving person to spend her life with. "You have been so selfless this whole time. And in the beginning, I thought it was going to backfire on you, and it kinda did at first." She chuckled. Referring to the night her wife had gotten drunk at the bar and was brought home by Erica Hahn. "But you've been selfless in the best way possible after that. You've been so amazing with me. You have been gentle and gave me space when I didn't even know I needed it. And you've never left my side when I thought I needed space. You knew what I needed even when I didn't. And I can only hope I've been there for you too through all of this. Because WE lost the baby." She stressed. "This whole thing isn't just about me. It's about us as a couple. Because if it weren't for you, they would have never been a baby."
"You have, in every aspect." Callie assured her.
"You have never faltered with me, even though you were hurting. I couldn't have hoped for a better partner in life. You've not once pushed me or made me feel bad for not wanting to be intimate." She said kissing her wife's knuckles. "Most importantly, you've gave me time. I wouldn't tell you I was ready if I'm not. And I just want to thank you." She leaned in to peck red lips. Depending the kiss when she felt her wife part hers.
With all the flirting all week from the blonde and the playful caresses they shared during dinner this evening, Callie couldn't stand it any longer. Cupping her wife's face after pulling back from the kiss, "Lets go to bed." She said, brushing the pads of her thumbs over her wife's cheeks, receiving a nod and a tender smile in return.
"You're not wearing this." Arizona said, walking over to the bed and picking up the suit Callie had laid out to wear. Last night they had finally made love several times for the first time in over a month, and in Arizona's opinion more than made up for all the lost time.
"Umm yes, I am." She said taking the one piece bathing suit out of her wife's hand.
Today was the Fourth of July and they had plans to spend the day with Arizona's parents at the river, then all their friends were coming up that evening to spend the night camping. Daniel promised both girls a fun day in the sun, so he was loading up his boat with fishing gear and heading off to the camp grounds.
"No, you're not. I want to see you in this." She grinned widely, pulling out Callie's little black bikini.
"Arizona, I can't dress like that in front of your dad. I would feel to uncomfortable. Besides you're wearing a one piece."
"So! And you can wear a cover up."
"And then the point of wearing the bikini would be?"
"That way I could still sneak peeks." The blonde pouted.
"Aww.." Callie said walking closer to her wife. "Don't pout my baby." She said, kissing her wife's puffed lips. "If you're a good girl I'll give you more than a sneak tonight." She said pulling her wife's tank top out to peek inside.
"How? We're suppose to be sharing a tent with Henry and Teddy?" Arizona whined.
"We can always play with fire." She husked, bitting her bottom lip.
"Huh?"
"We can stay up and when everyone else is all tucked in bed we can enjoy laying under the stars by the fire." She winked at her wife. "It'll be fun."
"Not with my parents sleeping nearby also."
"Come one. Just imagine how much fun it will be. The thought of getting caught." She wiggles her eyebrows at Arizona.
"Playing with fire." Arizona shook her head and let out a giggle as she picked her suit up from the bed and walked into their bathroom.
"So, they're staying?" Barbara asked her daughter while they relaxed on the small sofa in the back of the boat as Callie and Daniel were fishing off the front.
"Yeah. Teddy said that they traded Lopez instead." Arizona said as she watched her wife and dad.
"Well I'm glad. I don't think I could handle her moving that far away."
"You're telling me. Teddy and I have been attached at the hip for almost twenty years now. I don't think I would know what to do without her around."
"So not to change the subject honey, but.. How are you and Callie doing?" Barbara asked her daughter as Daniel hooked a fish. "Good job honey." She winked at him.
"We're good, really good." She smiled at her wife when Callie turned and gave her a wink. "We're thinking about trying again."
"So soon?"
"It's been a month already mama. And I said thinking not doing. We still want to wait a little while. Addison said the sooner the better. Plus why wait several months?" She shrugged. "I know some people have a hard time even thinking about trying to have another baby after a miscarriage, but this is what we want. So why wait?"
"I agree honey. I'm just so happy you didn't let this swallow you up. Some people just can't bounce back from something like that." Barbara said.
"Well.. those people don't have Calliope in their corner."
"She really loves you."
"And I really love her." She smiled as her wife walked up to them.
"Your dad wants to know if you're ready for some tubing?" Callie grinned.
"Are you ready to rub me down in sunblock?" Arizona asked holding up the bottle of lotion for her wife.
"I'm always ready to rub you down." Callie winked at Barbara when Arizona's face blushed.
The rest of the day was spent out on the water swimming and tubing. By the time they returned to camp, their friends had already arrived, sat up their camp and had started the grill for their barbecue dinner. As night fell, Arizona and Callie laid in their lounger snuggled up to each other as Daniel, Mark, Derek and Owen set off fireworks for all the women to awe after. After several drinks by the toasty fire each couple started turning in for the night, leaving Callie and Arizona the only ones left up.
"Oh good god." Arizona breathed as her wife cradled her in her arms as she came down from her splendid high. She had been eagerly waiting for her parents and all their friends to go to bed and as soon as everything quieted down, she pounced her wife.
"God I've missed that." Callie whispered into the side of her wife's neck.
"Congratulations River girl, and thank god. I didn't think Cal was ever going to deliver." They heard Cristina yell from her tent, causing a round of laughter from a few others.
"Oh my god." Callie whispered in shock. Pulling the cover over her head and groaning. "They heard us!"
"Hey.. don't act like it's my fault." Arizona whispered back. "You're the one that's all.. Lets play with fire baby." She laughed. She was a little ashamed but seeing Callie mortified by it made her forget about her embarrassment.
"What if your mom and dad heard us. Oh god, I won't be able to look them in the.." She stopped. "Was that? Did someone just come out of their tent? Oh my god Arizona someone just came outside. We don't have any pants on underneath here." Callie freaked.
"I'm well aware of that Callie, now shut up and pretend to be asleep." Arizona said, covering her wife's mouth under the lite blanket.
"Callie?" Barbara came up to the girls where they were laying near the fire. "Here." She said when the brunette poked her head from the cover. "I bought you both some water. I don't want you to dehydrate out in the heat of the night." She smirked when her daughter in law took the drinks.
Swallowing the lump in her throat. "Thanks mom." Callie blushed as her wife broke out into a fit of giggles.
