CHAPTER 9

Skyler felt like she was floating into a sea of nothingness. Her body felt really hot as if she was laying on a really comfortable hot water bottle. She snuggled into whatever it was and smelled maple and sunshine. If the outside forest had a smell then this is what it would smell like.

Feeling whatever it was move in closer to her had Skyler tensing up in apprehension and she held her breath.

Lord what if it's a bear! Or maybe a skunk, she thought, heart in her throat.

Hearing a chuckle her eyes flew open and she gasped at the black coal eyes staying at her. Her hands flew up to his face and then started searching his body for injuries.

"Are you ok Fang?" She asked and before she could slide her hands under his shirt to check for any cuts Fang caught her hands in his and captured her lips. Skyler froze and searched his face. The last time this happened I got hurt.

"Shut up and kiss me," Fang said as he looked at her.

"How ru-," she started but moaned as he kissed her again. She wound her arms around his neck and sighed. Fang used that opportunity to slide in his tongue and tipped her head a little to the side to get a better angle.

Life couldn't be any better at this moment, Skyler thought as she felt herself melt against his body.

Fang wrapped his arms around Skyler's waist and deepened the kiss. Nothing had ever felt so right and so good. He had been with plenty of women throughout his lifespan and done a lot of erotic and kinky things.

But just laying there with his arms around Skyler was destroying his very being. He didn't know how to handle the emotions coursing through him.

He broke the kiss and rested his forehead against hers. Their breathing was erratic and he could hear the thumping of both their hearts. Fang took a deep breath and moved back to take a good look at Skyler.

"You have a choice to make and its not going to be an easy one to make"

"What do you mean?"

"You haven't yet noticed where you are at have you?" he asked her

Breaking out of the trance that she seemed to be in, Skyler looked around her surroundings. They seemed to be in the woods and surrounded by trees…trees…and more trees.

"Where are we?"

"Away from the enemy"

"How far away from my home are we?"

"Far enough"

"Why?"

"I'm protecting you from the ones who want me dead," he said as he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"Why do I need protection from them?" she asked, "I'm an innocent bystander in all this and-"Then it all came back to her. Fang speaking to her in her head…being kidnapped…two wolves fighting and one of them being Fang while the other lying dead had been her kidnapper.

"Stay calm," Fang said as he took one look at her face and realized that she remembered everything that happened.

"You're not human."
