Disclaimer: Sorry its been a while! I finally finished a story I was working on and summer just started, but I have a lot of chores to do so I won't be on as often as I'd like. I will still try and get on though, so don't wet yourself lol
Again, apologies for being late on this one. And my other story. And my other... and the other...
Boy, I feel really bad now haha
By the way, there are some spoilers to Naruto in here (because that is my current obsession, hehe)
And I also apologize early before any cheesy romance.
On to the story!
Hazel stared with a blank, confused expression. What exactly is going on here? Since when was Yamada a girl? That voice...its too feminine. Not like a boy's at all. And since when has Hope had a whip underneath her shirt? When did that start?
All these questions buzzed through Hazel's mind as she watched Hope and the person-who-has-two-genders-aparently chased after the green demon that just tried to kill her. But what was up with comparing her to candy? Do you really become what you eat?
Kaede shook Hazel from her haze. She blinked a few times, still trying to process everything that just happened, and how fast everything just went. Hazel looked down at her scabbards, seeing little nicks in the leather and scratches on the silver kanji. She frowned. She'll need to repair that damage. If she doesn't, whatever her mother warned her about could most likely come looking for her. She made mental note to draw the magic circle to repair them when she gets back to the apartment. But for now, she needs to figure out what just happened and what that demon wants from her.
Did he so willingly oblige to trying to kill her because she was defending a friend? He seemed rather annoyed with her at first, but as they continued to fight, he seemed to enjoy it more. And then the candy comparison started.
Then next thing she knew, she's sitting on the hot hard ground with swirly eyes completely confused and dehydrated.
Kaede continued to shake Hazel. "Woman, get it together! Rin needs help!"
That seemed to snap the young swordswoman out of her daze. The far away look in her eyes vanished and Hazel nodded in determination. She scooted over to Rin, who is holding his stomach in pain, and rubbed the back of her head while giving him a sheepish grin.
"Hey, Rin-chan. Sorry for kicking you so many times. I was trying to protect you."
Rin smirked. "Its fine. I'm glad you jumped in when you did."
Hazel smiled back. "I am too. Its nice to know I helped someone for once." Hazel stood to her feet, holding a hand out for Rin. "Yosh! Let's go."
Rin nodded as he took Hazel's hand and she pulled him up.
"Awwwww we lost him."
"It was your fault, not mine."
"Aw, come on now, Hopey-chan~ Don't be so harsh."
Yamada and Hope was seen walking towards them, a smile on Yamada's face and an irritated expression on Hope's.
Everyone paused what they were doing, staring at the two approaching. Yukio appeared out of nowhere. His eyes widened at the approaching hooded figure.
"Sh-Shura?" he asked. Hazel looked between the two.
"Well, its definitely been a long time." The person slid out of their hooded shirt, revealing a woman with pink eyes, Tan skin, and pink and blonde hair tied in a pony tail. Everyone gawked.
This Shura lady had the biggest boobs any of them have ever seen.
Kaede coughed awkwardly. "Those are big," she deadpanned, causing everyone to sweatdrop.
Shura didn't seem bothered. She glanced at Hazel. "Well done with the sword, shorty."
Hazel blushed furiously. "I-I-I'm not short! You're just tall!"
Shura shrugged. Hope rubbed her temples. The little demon totally overlooked the compliment. Shura isn't even that tall. Her argument is invalid.
"Well, at least we're all okay," says Kaede, trying to keep the peace as Hazel's glare at Shura became more intense. The pinkete shrugs and grabs Rin by the head and squishing him right next to her over sized breasts. Rin squirms and Hazel and Hope finally realize what's going on. Hazel's brow furrows.
"Oi, what do you think you're doing with him?!"
Shura glances back at the slightly shorter girl. "Taking him so he can be interrogated. What does it look like I'm doing?"
Hope seems ticked. "You can't just walk off with him."
Shura smirks. "Of course I can. The Vatican gave me full permission."
Hope blows a small strand of her hair from out of her eyes and scoffs. "Tch. Yeah right."
Shura laughs. Loudly. "Come, now, Hopey-chan. Don't tell me you're jealous I get to do this and you don't~"
Kaede steps between them. "Now this all seems very interesting, and by that, I mean its not, but can we please skip the rivalry and whatever and someone please explain why she's torturing Rin with her gargantuine boobies?"
"Yes, please?" complains Rin.
Hope sighs in irritation. "Later. We'll talk later. For now, just go back to the dorms. I need to leave with Shura and have a long conversation with Mephisto."
"That'll be fun," says Hazel sarcastically.
Hope silently agrees as she follows Shura and Rin towards who knows where.
Hazel sighs in boredom. "So, Yukio, Kaede, what do we want to do?"
Kaede shrugs. "More anime? Maybe Naruto? Devil is a Part-Timer? Ooh! Or how about some Fate/stay night?"
Yukio huffs. "I have no interest in that."
"Why not try?" pouts Kaede.
"Its stupid and illogical."
Hazel growls. "And you being the twin brother of a demon is logical? Boy, you're crazy."
Yukio huffs and walks away, obviously flustered from Hazel's comment. The girl sighs. Does he hate her? She feels so hated by him. Kaede lays a hand on her shoulder.
"You should treat him a little better. Believe me, its hilarious, but maybe your words are a little hurtul, don't you think?"
Hazel smiles and nods. "You're right. I guess I should apologise, huh?"
Kaede snickers. "That's a good idea. And next time, save some demon for me, eh? I wanna kick some butt too!"
Hazel flashes her fangs in a lopsided smile. She races off and follows Yukio. The demon eventually catches up, leaning on the exorcist for support while she heavily breathes. Yukio glares heavily at Hazel. He remembers his short talk with Mephisto when Hope told him about the Thorn. She's a demon. She's like Rin. He and Rin have mellowed it all out and he doesn't see him as a threat anymore. However, this young girl knowing nothing about her heritage could pose a serious threat. Not even Hope knows everything about the girl. She doesn't give off the demon vibe. The only way to know her heritage for sure is...her swords. Yukio's brow furrows. He needs to examine her swords.
To his surprise, Hazel's cheeks flush pink. She puts her hands behind her back and looks away awkwardly, chewing the inside of her cheek. Her orange-gold eyes glance back and forth between Yukio and the air particles. She looks down.
"Hey, um..." She growls at herself. Hazel then looks him straight in the eye. "Now, listen here, I don't do this very often, so take this seriously!"
Yukio raises his eyebrow. "What?"
Hazel's blush deepens. "This may sound stupid, but in the short time I've been here...I think I finaly found a family. A new one. And...I'm sorry for everything I've done to make you hate me. C...can we be friends?"
Yukio looks at the girl surprised. He then smiles. She's not so bad. A brat sometimes, maybe, but she at least knows how be sorry. "Its okay. Maybe I will try and watch anime with you two later."
Hazel smiles cheeky. "Awesome!"
She then prances away. Yukio's smile turns into a frown. Its time to have a serious talk with Mephisto.
Hazel stuffs her face with sweets as she watches anime on her laptop. Her current obsession in Naruto, and she's slowly and steadily approaching the end of the original anime. She sticks some candies in her mouth and crunches loudly as Naruto and Sasuke battle it out with each other. She silently pumps her sugery fists in the air in excitement as Naruto taps into the Demon Nine-Tailed Fox's power.
"Eat it, Sasugay!" she cheers in a whisper.
Don't get it wrong, she loves Sasuke's character, she just finds him the embodiment of everything wrong with humanity. She ranted for hours about Sasuke leaving Konoha for Orochimaru to Kaede, who eventually knocked the girl out just to get her to shut up. Hazel rubs her cheek. Its still bruised.
Once the episode ended, and on a very sad note, Hazel shut her laptop and set it on her desk. Tomorrow's Sunday, which means free day, so she plans on sleeping in till one. She sits on the edge of her bed, still ranting on the inside because of the selfish jerk Uchiha. He knocked Sakura out...how could he?! Then again, she finds Sakura just the tad bit annoying, but she still likes that the girl is starting to become useful. She kind of isn't, but she will soon!
Hazel squeals. She can't wait to get to Shippuden! She wants to see all the characters older! Especially Itachi and Gaara.
The girl drools at the thought of her favorite characters. She can't choose between them. They're both too gorgeous. All of her favorite characters, including female, are the previously mentioned boys, Naruto, Tsunade, and Temari. They're all just too cool.
Hazel frowns. Naruto has a demon sealed inside of him. She wonders what its like to be a demon. The lonliness...that would probably kill her. Just thinking about the way Naruto grew up, without parents and everybody hating him, makes her depressed. She shrugs. Its a good thing she's not a demon. She steals a glance at her twin katanas. Its a good thing she's not a demon, right?
She's even more depressed now.
Hazel grabs her bag of candy and stands up, deciding to watch an episode of My Little Pony to make herself feel better. Once she reaches the desk, bag of candy in hand, and her other hand reaching out for the laptop, she looks up at the window and comes face to face with a certain green haired demon. After a few seconds of gawking at the demon outside her window, Hazel lets loose a silent scream as she flys backwards to grab her swords. Once she has them in her possession, she whips around to glare at Amaimon. He tilts his head to the side.
"Can I have some?"
Hazel stares at the demon in confusion. "Huh?" she says stupidly.
The demon gestures toward the bag of candy lying on the floor next to her feet. Hazel sweatdrops. "You want...candy?"
He nods.
"Do you promise not to kill me?"
He nods again.
Hazel slowly creeps up to the window, using the end of a sword to lift the latch, and let the demon inside. He makes an immediate dash for the candy before Hazel somehow manages to glomp him on the back of the head. He whimpers as he holds his head in his hands. He glares at the sweets. So close...
"If you want some, you'll have to wait," growls the girl above him. She walks over to the bag and sits on the ground, swords carefully placed on her lap, as she grabs the sweets and pours some in his awaiting hands. Amaimon smiles while drooling as he watched Butterscotch pour the sugary goodness into his hands. Once she finishes, he immdiately stuffs his face and chews happily.
"You know," says Hazel, "eating the plastic with the candy could make you really sick." The demon shrugs and Hazel sighs. "That means you don't get to eat any candy for at least a week."
The demon pauses and looks at Hazel with a face hoping that she's kidding. Butterscotch looks serious. Amaimon reaches inside his mouth and pulls the wrappers out.
"Gross! Don't do that in front of me!"
"Why?"
"Because its nasty! Turn around and do it!"
The demon does as he's told. Once he finished, he stares at Hazel. The said girl moves uncomfortably under his intense gaze. "Do you want more?"
He nods.
As Hazel pours the demon some new sweets, she asks, "So why don't you talk much?"
He shrugs. Hazel's eyebrow twitches. "I see. Okay, so you're a demon king, right?" He nods. "What were you doing in the amusement park today?"
"Playing with little brother."
"It looked like you were trying to kill him."
He shrugs again, unwrapping another piece of candy and popping it in his mouth. "Why did you protect him?"
"Huh?" Hazel says, surprised the strange demon asked her anything. "Uh, well, because he's my friend."
"Your friend..." He blinks. "Would you protect me?"
Hazel glares. "No. You're my enemy. We're just having a chat over candy. Think of this as a temporary truce."
Amaimon nods. "Oh."
They remain silent for a while.
"What were you watching earlier?"
Hazel blinks. "Naruto."
"What's that?"
"Its an anime. Or a Japanese cartoon...of sorts."
"Cartoon...can I watch?"
"You won't understand what's going on."
"You can tell me."
The girl scowls. "That would take all night."
Amaimon shrugs. "Tell me what you need to."
Hazel sighs in defeat as she stands up and grabs her laptop and charger. She plugs the charger into the wall and into her laptop, opening it to the episode she was watching earlier on Netflix. She grabs some pillows, one for her, and one for the embodiment of a sweet addiction. Hazel throws the pillow toward said demon and settles down next to him, resting her arms on the pillow and her head on her arms. Amaimon copies her. She clicks the next episode and pops a lolipop in her mouth.
They watch the episode in silence, Hazel turning it down some to not attract the attention of the dormatories' warden.
Amaimon couldn't help but glance at the girl next to him. The light from the computer screen reflects off her pale skin, making it seem as if she's glowing. And the way they make her eyes shine, don't get him started. Mephisto said he could come to her dorm so that the young demon could stop talking about Hazel. It was getting a little annoying with Amaimon comparing her to candy for the second time that day. Especially after the talk the brothers had with each other about wrecking the amusement park.
Amaimon slowly reaches out towards Hazel, her eyes glued to the computer screen as a Sasuke rescue team is assembled. He wraps his fingers around the stick of her lolipop and jerks it out of her mouth. The girl looks at him bewildered.
"Hey that was mine!" Amaimon sticks it in his mouth. Hazel sighs and just grabs another one.
A cold draft blows through the window and makes Hazel shiver. Crud. She forgot to close the window. She suddenly feels something very warm next to her. She glances over and sees Amaimon has placed a blanket on her.
"Won't you get cold?" He shakes his head no. "Are you sure?" He nods.
Their attention is directed back to the screen, just in time to see Naruto complaining about something. Hazel inwardly sighs. This demon actually isn't that bad. He's a bit creepy, but his childness is pretty cute. And let's not get started on his eyes. The girl steals a glance at the demon next to her and catches him staring. He looks back at the screen. Hazel does too. She then looks at him only to catch him staring once more. A tick mark appears.
"Okay, is there something wrong with my face? Why do you keep staring at me?" she yells in a whisper.
"There's nothing wrong with your face. It's the most perfect thing I've ever seen, actually."
This stuns Hazel into oblivion. What? What is he playing at? Did he actually just say that? Amaimon reaches out and strokes her cheek with his thumb, causing Hazel to freeze. What does she do? What does she say? Does she scream and call for help or let this continue?
She's so confused!
"You look like candy, you smell like candy..." His frown deepens. "I wonder if you taste like candy?"
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaatttt?" Hazel says, still to stunned to do anything. She sees him getting closer and closer, his eyebrows furrowing as he continues to stroke her cheek. His other fingers then curl under her chin and tilt her head a bit as he gets closer.
"What is that thing people do that look like they're sucking each others faces off?"
"K-Kissing?" Hazel stutters.
"That's what its called? It looks like fun."
"Okay."
"Does it let you taste someone?"
"I guess."
His head tilts to the side. "Then I guess it's worth it."
Hazel's mind remains blank as Amimon's face inches closer to hers. In a few seconds, the demon's lips press softly against her own. Her face flushes red as she feels her entire body heat up from embarrassment. Seconds later, the demon breaks away and stares at Hazel's flushed face.
"Your face is all red. Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I guess."
Her heart is fluttering. Why is it fluttering? Did this really just happen? Did she really just kiss a demon?
Amaimon blinks. "You taste like candy."
Hazel's heart thumps. She's never felt this way before, especially for a demon. She's lived a lonely life up until this point. She's only made acquaintances with people she merely needed to get a job done. A little cruel she left people who thought she was their friend, yes, but coming here to True Criss, she wanted she change that. She wants to change that, and make friendships, real friendships that will last forever. But how can she face them? How can she face them now when her heart's fluttering in a way she's never felt for a demon? Hope will surely try and kill her, Kaede will definitely stop talking to her the rest of her life, Run might understand the situation, him being a demon, and Yukio would probably also try and kill her.
And all basically mean "like this demon and die."
Hazel friend and looks down. His lips are soft, surprisingly, and taste like the sweets she's given to him.
"Thank you," she mumbles.
Amaimon's head tilts to the side in that cute way, making Hazel accidentally squeal inside. "You look sad."
Hazel gulps. Does she talk to him about it? Does she talk coldly to him and kick him out? That might be in her best interest, seeing how everyone will despise her once they find out. And now that she thinks about it, that Shura lady might even use her to get to Amaimon. Or just kill her. But there's something about this demon...
"Well, I guess I shouldn't lie. I'm not alright. I am sad. And confused. What just happened?"
"I just kissed you. You said its called a kiss right?"
His face holds expression, making it impossible for Hazel to deduct if he's feeling anything she's feeling. He doesn't seem nervous, sad, or love struck.
Okay, Hazel, get it together. You're not love struck. Let's start out small and say you're crushing in him.
Yeah. Okay. So it really did happen. That's good to know. Why did you do it?"
"Because it looked like fun and I wanted to know what you taste like." Hazel sighs in minor disappointment. "But also because of this feeling." Hazel's ears perk up. Feeling? What feeling? The demon looks at Hazel quizzically. "Am I sick?"
"Where do you feel it?"
He ponders for a second and points at his stomach and heart. "Here."
Hazel mentally cheers. "What does it feel like?"
The demon looks confused. "I don't understand."
"Does it hurt?"
"A little."
The girl gulps. It hurts her a little too. Gathering up her courage, she continues. "Is it fuzzy feeling?"
"Fuzzy?"
"Tingly. Like your insides are a little itchy."
He nods.
"Do you feel...warm?"
His eyes widen slightly and he nods.
"Hate ta tell ya but...I think you're happy."
"Happy?" The demon says the word as if he's never said it before. There's a confused glint in his eyes as he stares at Hazel with the adorable blank expression we all know and love.
"Do..." Come on, Hazel, you can do it! "Do you like the feeling? And...is it stronger with me?"
He nods and Hazel feels more happier than she's ever felt. In fact, she smiles. Amaimon strokes her cheek again.
"Keep doing that."
"Doing what?"
His thumb brushes her lips. "This."
"Smiling?"
He nods. "I like it."
Her smile widens. "Thank you."
A comfortable silence falls upon them as Amaimon continues to stroke Hazel's cheek. He then asks: "Are we friends now?"
"We're a little more than friends, but yes. Just...don't try and kill my friends."
Amaimon shrugs. "I don't know. I was told to do what I did today."
Hazel frowns. Amaimon's thumb goes to the corner of the girl's mouth and tugs on it. "Smile again."
She smiles, and his face brightens up.
"C...can you come back tomorrow?"
"I'll try."
Hazel scoots closer to him and lays her head on his pillow. He closes the laptop and settles down next to her. He stares at her through the dark, pulling the blanket up to her chin and stroking her black licorice colored hair, and then the orange lolipop colored bangs, and finally, the coconut colored braids, unwinding them.
She reaches behind her to grab his hand and wrap his arm around her torso, snuggling closer to him.
"Goodnight," she mumbles sleepily.
He kisses her on the cheek for his response.
What a day. Fought a demon, tracked a ghost, went to an amusement park, and fell for the very same demon late at night while watching an episode of Naruto. Feels like it went a little too fast for her liking, but oh well. She likes this.
The only problem is...what if the others find out?
