Chapter 89

"Calliopeee." Arizona yelled yet again from their walk-in closet. She knew Callie probably couldn't hear her, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try. "Go on, you son of a bitch." She growled, wiggles into her jeans. "Callieee." She cried, dropping her hands to her sides and letting out a distressed moan.

The brunette was in the shower, brushing her teeth when she thought she heard her wife's muffled

yells. Stilling, she listened again, not hearing anything she went back to her routine only to be brought right back out with a distinct cry from her wife. Quickly turning

the water off, she jumped out running towards her wife's yells while grabbing her robe along the way. "What?.. what's wrong?" Callie looked around the room seeing her wife near the corner of the closet, crying on the floor.

Arizona looked up with tears in her eyes. Her wife was standing there, dripping water puddles all over the hardwood floor in their closet. "You're getting the floor all wet." She said, wiping her face.

"I came running because you yelled like there was something wrong and now you're scolding me because I'm wet?" She asked, tying her robe around her.

"Yes, someone's going to fall." She pointed to the puddle under her wife's feet.

"Arizona." Callie breathed. "Why were you yelling like that? I thought there was something wrong and obviously.. there isn't anything wrong with you?" She asked, walking further in the room.

"There is something wrong." She growled, wiping the tears off her face.

Taking a deep breath, Callie put on her best face for her wife. "Honey.. tell me what's wrong?" She asked, squatting down in front of her wife.

"I'm fat, Callie." She said, pulling her shirt up to show Callie she couldn't even come close to buttoning her jeans. "Look."

"Awe, sweetie." she bit her tongue, trying not so smile or laugh. "Look at me."she said, hooking her finger under her wife's chin.

Looking up at her wife, Arizona felt bad. She knew Callie wouldn't like her thinking that, but she couldn't help but feel it right now. "I feel ugly."

"Please don't say that, sweetie. You are anything but." Callie said, kissing her forehead. "You are beautiful Arizona, even more so now. You have the precious miracle of life growing inside of you. There is nothing more beautiful than that."

"But.."

"No." Callie said, placing her index finger over the blondes mouth. "Do. Not. Say it." She stressed.

"I can't wear any of my clothes." She sighed.

"I can't fit in your jeans. Does that mean I'm fat?"

"No."

"Okay, problem solved. You're not fat, Arizona. So I better not hear you say it again. Am I making myself clear?" This was the second time in less than twenty-four hours that Callie had to convince her that she wasn't fat nor ugly.

Arizona was now starting her second trimester and was showing more and more everyday, which meant her clothes were getting smaller and smaller. "My shirts are too tight and my pants won't button. The only thing I can wear are sweats." She cried. "Even my bras are getting tight."

"Baby.." Callie said, wrapping her wife up in a hug. She knew it was only the hormones making her upset and that's why sometimes it was hard to keep a straight face. "You're eating for two, your body's changing every day to make room for the baby. If you don't grow, the baby doesn't grow."

Arizona held on to her wife as she talked her down from her little upheaval. Callie's caresses always had a soothing effect on her. "I'm sorry." She whispered into her wife's neck.

"It's okay." Callie pulled back and looked around on the shelf. "Here, you can wear my jeans today." She said, handing them to her wife. "And tomorrow, we'll go to Maternity Life and get you some clothes. Okay?"

"But I still don't have anything to wear tonight." She sighed. "We're meeting everyone at Joes to tell them about the baby and I don't have anything that fits and I want to look nice for you." She said, sadly looking at her wife.

"Honey, you know that if you're wearing sweats or some fancy dress and your killer knee high boots. I think your beautiful. You can wear my clothes, you know how I feel about you wearing my clothes." The brunette winked at her. Callie loved seeing her wife in her clothes. "I'm a size or two bigger than you, so jeans may be a little baggy in the legs but you will still be stunning none the less."

"Okay." Arizona said, wiping her face. "At least I can still wear my shoes right?"

"For a little while, then your back will start to hurt and your feet will swell." She teased.

"Callie.." She whined.

"I'm kidding."

"No you're not, it'll eventually happen."

"And why is that?" Callie raised her eyebrow in question at her wife.

"Because I'm growing a tiny human, not because I'm fat." Arizona rolled her eyes.

"Exactly." She laughed.

"Oooh, maybe I'll wear my boots for you." She smiled softly. "I know how you love me in them."

"You wear those boots and I'll probably dry hump you right there in front of everyone." Callie winked as she stood up from the floor.

"Boots it is." Arizona said, reaching for her brown knee highs that were in the corner of the room.

"I'm going to finish my shower and maybe make sure the surgical field has been prepped in case someone gets lucky tonight." She teased, disappearing out of the closet and leaving Arizona to finish dressing.

Forty-five minutes later, Callie was downstairs waiting on Arizona yet again. It seemed like lately when it was time for them to leave, the blonde had to do something last minute and this time it was the bathroom. Callie had just put the dogs out and was sitting at the kitchen island scribbling on a blank piece of paper. She had came up with the idea a few weeks ago but she had to put her drawing skills to use before she decided to put her plan in action.

"I'm ready." Arizona walked into the room, putting her leather jacket on.

Turing to her wife, Callie couldn't help but smile. "You look good in my clothes and jacket." She said, leaning against the counter.

"Umm thanks." She said, pulling her hair up in a messy ponytail. "But it's my jacket." She had took ownership of it since Callie's attack that night two years ago.

"Well, you look good in it." She kissed her when the blonde came close.

"Thanks." Arizona asked, holding onto the lapel of her wife's leather jacket. "You know what today is?"

"Yeah." Callie replied, grabbing the blondes waist. "Can't forget it even if I tried."

"Me neither. Some of the worst few days of my life." Today marked two years since Callie had nearly gotten beat to death behind the clinic. "Do you ever worry that he'll get out? Like I know they won't release him, but have you ever thought about..what if he were to escape? Do you think he would look for us?"

"I even shutter to think." Callie shook her head, that wasn't even an option in her head.

"Yeah, my mind wondered there this morning when I was in the shower. I hate thinking about it, but it's hard not to today."

"I know." Callie said, standing from her seat and hugging the blonde tight. "But look where we are now." She said, moving her hands to her wife's stomach. "I'd go through it all again to be right here in this moment with you and our little baby."

"Me too. I love you." Arizona said, kissing her shoulder.

"I love you too, babe."

"How do you always know how to say the right things?" She mumbled.

"I don't. I just tell you how you make me feel."

"What's this." She asked, looking over her wife's shoulder at what Callie had been scribbling down.

"Oh, I was just doodling while I was waiting on you."

"You draw?" Arizona asked, picking up the paper. "How do I not know this?"

"Don't be so shocked." Callie faked her hurt, placing her hand over her heart. "I'm very skilled with my hands."

"Oh, boy do I know that." Arizona laughed. "This is really good babe." Arizona said, looking at the little forest drawing her wife had scribbled.

"Well, you ARE looking at the 6th grade first place winner in pencil drawing." She said, like it shouldn't been news to her wife.

"Only 6th grade?" Arizona teased.

"Shush." Callie smacked her butt. "Let's go. I'm late for my hot date." She said, picking her keys up off the counter and walking out the door ahead of the blonde.

"Did you put the dogs out? Cause last time you forgot and I'm not cleaning up after them again." Arizona said, getting into the jeep along with the brunette.

"Last time you forgot, not me. And yes I did put them out, but it wasn't without a fight."

"What now?"

"You were upstairs locked away in the bathroom and they didn't want to come down." Callie said, pulling out of the drive way. "I don't know what their problem is as of late."

"Sure you do." Arizona said, grabbing her wife's hand and placing it on her stomach. "They're being protective of their bubby or sissy."

"Maybe." She said, rubbing her wife's little bump.

"Oh come on, you know they weren't too fond of me the first time, but after everything that has happened, they don't like to leave my side. Even more so now that I'm pregnant again."

"You're right and it does make me feel a little better when I'm not home with you. I know they're on your tail every move you make." Callie said. "Do you think it's a boy or girl?"

"Oh, I don't know." Arizona rested her head against the seat. "I don't care as long as it's healthy."

"Well I don't either, but you don't have any inkling what it might be?"

"Well you were set on a boy the last time, so you tell me. What do you think?"

"Gosh, I don't know." Callie laughed, navigating down the street. "I really did feel like it was a boy last time, but this time I'm feeling both."

"Both.. Oh no no no. Not two. Not for first time motherhood. I'm already nervous as hell thinking about one, I can't deal with two yet."

"Could explain why you think your stomach is a little bigger than you think it should be." Callie looked over and winked at her. "But no, that's not what I meant. I meant sometimes I feel like it's going to be a boy, but more so lately, I feel a little girl in our future."

"A girl." She looked over to her wife with a grin. She hadn't gave the sex of the baby much thought, all that was on her mind was carrying a healthy baby. "A little Calliope. I like that." She said, kissing her wife's knuckle.

"Hey now, a little Arizona isn't out of the question."

"Unlikely, the Latino gene will most likely dominate."

"Hey, my cousin is part Latino and you'd never know, it except for his skin tone. He's got this dirty blonde hair and green eyes and he has the perfect tan all year long." Callie chuckled.

"Well I hope he or she is a perfect mix of us."

"I'm game as along as it has your eyes and dimples." Callie said, pulling into the hospital parking lot. "Wait.. let me retract that. If it has your eyes and dimples I could never tell it no. So maybe it should have brown eyes."

"Brown, blue, black or pink. I don't care."

"You had to throw pink in there didn't you?" Callie laughed, putting the car in park.

"Shut up." Arizona laughed, getting out.

"Hey." Callie said, getting out and walking around to where her wife was. "I think we need to discuss what we need to do about our cars."

"What about them?"

"Well, we have four vehicles and not a single one of them is baby friendly."

"Oh.. yeah. I never really thought about that." Arizona said, walking hand in hand into the building with her wife.

"I haven't either until this morning when I was searching for my keys."

"Well, maybe we'll discuss after the appointment. Maybe have lunch at the deli?"

"How about I take you somewhere nicer than an old sandwich shop?" Callie said as they made their way upstairs to the doctors office.

"But it's our favorite place." The blonde pouted.

"I know, but we eat there at least three times a week at work. How about we grab a lunch and eat at the park? There's a chill in the air, but I promise to sit close enough to keep you warm." Callie whispered in her ear.

"I may be able to be persuaded." She shrugged her shoulders and made her way down the hall. "Especially if there is some hand roaming and pizza involved."

"Oh my god, you need to eat healthier." Callie laughed. "Our baby is going to come out addicted to junk food."

"Hey, can you say no to this face?" Arizona turned to her and put on her best pout.

"It's hard, very hard. But I have."

"Only when you're mad or upset." Arizona countered. "And you're neither at the moment, so yey!" She clapped.

Laughing. "I'm beginning to wonder if I married a thirty year old or a perky fifteen year old." Callie said, following behind her wife.

"These hands can do the work no fifteen year old can even imagine doing." Arizona stopped and turned towards the brunette.

"Is that your theory or based on personal experience?" Callie said, getting a weird look from her wife. "Wow, that sounded kinda pedophilish." She shook her head. "You know what, this conversations over." She laughed, grabbing her wife by the arm and walking into the office.

"Well if it isn't my favorite two lesbians." Addison said, walking into the room and using the hand sanitizer that was secured to the wall.

"Uhh.. we're the only two lesbians you know." Arizona said from her place on the bed.

"Not anymore. You've not heard the hospital gossip?"

"We don't work here remember?" Callie shook her head.

"Hahn and the new chick, Boswell."

"Boswell?"

"Wait.. What happened to her and Rick, Steve, James.. John. Hell, I don't remember his name. Is it bad I don't even remember his name and we've had dinner with them at Joes a few times?" Arizona looked to her wife.

"Do you think it matters now?" She laughed. "I want to know more about this Boswell? Do you know what her first name is?" Callie asked Addison.

"Laura Laurie..

"Lauren?" The brunette said in shock.

"Yeah, Lauren. She seems nice and she's cute."

"She's not even a surgeon."

"No, but she's working down in the ER and I had a.. wait." Addison stopped what she was doing. "You know Lauren?"

"Ah, kinda... not really. I just know enough." Callie said, sitting down in the chair by her wife's bed. "Let's get this going shall we?"

"I sense something more here." Addison peered to Callie.

"Oh yeah." Arizona laughed. "Lauren had a few interviews at the clinic and during her last one, Callie manhandled her and threw her out of the building because she had the hots for me apparently."

"Wow." Addison said, laughing. "You know that's kinda weird. Callie's love interest and Arizona's love interest."

"She's not my love interest." Arizona scoffed.

"And Erica isn't mine. That ship has sailed. Things are finally good between us now."

"Yeah, until they join forces and destroy you."

"Listen. There's no destroying what is meant to be." Callie said, taking her wife's hand. "I don't want to talk about Lauren or Erica. I want to see my baby, so do your job we're paying you to do and get busy woman."

"I'm only teasing." Addison said, reading the tests that Arizona had already been put through.

"I know. I just want to see my little cutie pie. Not talk about crazy bitches." Callie said, rubbing her wife's stomach. "Isn't she just the cutest pregnant woman you have ever seen?" Callie's eyes shined when she talked about her pregnant wife.

"Not really." Addison winked at Arizona. "Okay McPerky. You know the drill." She said, squirting the gel on her stomach. "Have you been experiencing any milky discharge?"

"No. Should I?"

"You may, but it's normal." Addison said, trying to find the baby. "Okay, what do you say we look at this little cutie?"

"Yes!" Callie said eagerly.

Laughing, "You know, I see hundreds of pregnant women a year and your stomach is the softest I've ever seen for a pregnant woman."

"That's because I'm the only one who has a wife as gracious as mine that is willing to rub me down multiple times a day in coco butter." Arizona winked at the brunette.

"I'm so jealous of you guys. You seriously make me sick."

"It's not my fault Karev doesn't treat you like Calliope treats me."

"He's good to me, it's just.. he's a guy."

"Ahh.. yes, the perks of being a lesbian." Arizona winked to the red head. "I don't have to deal with men's petty bull shit."

"Oh shut it." Addison laughed, getting down to business. "Well, your test results were fantastic. How have you been feeling since you were here last?"

"Great. My morning sickness is finally gone. My boobs aren't as sore. I'm feeling better then I have in a while." Arizona answered as Addison looked over the ultrasound.

"Well, don't get too excited. Your boobs will start to hurt again. Are you planning to breastfeed?"

"Uhh." She said, looking over to her wife. "We've not talked about that. I'd like to try."

"It's better for the baby if she does it right?" Callie asked. "It has all the nutrients it needs?"

"Yes honey." Arizona grabbed her arm. "Breast milk is very beneficial, especially the first few days."

"I don't know much about babies." Callie said, feeling kinda dumb that she had a baby on the way and didn't know a whole lot about them.

"Hey." Arizona got her attention "It's okay." She said, seeing her wife a little upset. "I'm a pediatrician and I'm going to have a hundred questions that I normally I would be able to answer for my patients parents, but It'll be different when it's our own."

"I feel so out of the loop. I need to start reading those books my mom bought me. I don't know much. I'm a surgeon, not a pediatrician." She shrugged. "You're use to the babies. I don't get many babies. I usually get kids." Even though Callie had always wanted kids, she never really had any experience with them and for the first time it was starting to freak her out.

"Calliope." Arizona got her attention. "Breathe." She told her, when she saw Callie was getting a little scared.

"See why I told you I wouldn't be a good mom. I don't know anything. What was I thinking?" She whispered to her wife.

"Hey, we're in this together. It's an overwhelming experience, but we'll be fine. You know why?" Arizona whispered back, trying to stay as still as possible while Addison worked.

"Why?"

"Because you're already a great mom."

"What makes you say that?" Callie asked, looking at her shyly.

"Your worried, upset and stressing about your baby. Like any good mom would do. You've put me and our baby's needs ahead of your own lately because you are an amazing mom, Calliope." Arizona said, cupping her wife's cheek.

Closing her eyes tight, a tear escaped the brunettes eye. Nodding, "You're going to try to breastfeed."

"I'm going to try."

"Addie?" Callie said as she was brought out of their little moment as the red head started hitting a bunch of buttons on the keyboard. "Addison is something wrong?" Callie asked standing from her seat as the red head looked intently at the screen.

"No, no. Nothings wrong. I'm just trying to get a few good pictures for you." Addison said, still looking over the screen. "Ball your fist for me Callie."

"Uhh.. why?" Callie said, clenching her hand.

"That's how big your baby is right now." She smiled. "It's about four inches long."

"It's so little, but yet so big already." Callie said in awe.

"It is. Look, it's sucking it's thumb." She said, turning the screen towards the couple.

Arizona's eyes instantly watered when she saw their baby on the screen. The last time they saw it, it didn't look much different than a tadpole, but now she saw distinct arms, hands and legs instead of little flippers. "Oh my god." She said, reaching for her wife. "Calliope. That's our baby." She said in awe as tears were running down her cheeks.

"Oh honey." Callie said, her face wet from tears also. "It's sucking it's thumb. How sweet is that?" She whispered, bending her head down to Arizona again. "It's so cute."

"Have you been talking to Arizona's stomach? She's fourteen weeks, so the baby should be able to hear you good now."

"Calliope talks to my stomach every morning and night." Arizona smiled, and ran her fingers through the brunettes hair.

"That's good. It'll know her voice along with yours. It can be comforting to the baby especially after birth." Addison said, moving the wand around to show them more of the baby. "Have you decided if you want to know the sex?"

"We are just started discussing that. Can you tell right now?" Callie asked.

"No. Normally with an ultrasound you can't be certain until eighteen or twenty weeks. But with a 4D ultrasound you can tell." Addison said, looking around. "I have the machine. You want to give it a go?"

"I don't know..." Arizona said, looking over to Callie. "What are you thinking Calliope? Do you want to know what we're having?"

"I don't know." She said, looking at her wife. "I want to know but I kinda want to be surprised too."

"Me too."

"Well.. I can still do the 4D even if you don't want to know the sex. It's like you're right there in the womb with it. It's pretty spectacular."

"Lets do it." Arizona nodded to her wife.

"Yes, we want it." Callie confirmed.

"Okay, just give me a few seconds to switch around here." Addison said.

"Do you want to know if it's a boy or girl?" Callie whispered to her wife.

"I do, I really do. But I want to be surprised too."

"Me too. Addison will know, so if we change our mind Addie can always tell us." Callie said louder. "Right, Addie?"

"Yeah, I get couples all the time that are hell bent on not finding out and within hours they're callings to ask." She laughed.

"Is that what you want to do sweetie?" Callie asked.

"I'm putting this in your hands. You decide." Arizona whispered. She wanted to but she didn't, so letting her wife decide was her best plan.

"No. We don't want to know yet." Callie told the doctor, her eyes never leaving her wife's. "Love you." She leaned in to kiss pink lips.

"Love you too, baby." Arizona whispered.

"Case in point. I think I'm going to vomit any moment." Addison said as the couple kept whispering and kissing while she prepared the machine.

"Shut it, mouth." Arizona said against red lips causing Callie to laugh.

"Be nice to me, I'm getting ready to let you see someone that will steal your heart forever." Addison said, getting a good view of the baby but not without sneaking a peek at the sex first. Turning the screen off, she then turned it around to the couple. "Okay. Are you ready?" She teased.

"Yes. God. You're killing us." Callie groaned.

"Okay." She said, hitting the button for the screen to turn on. "Meet you're little angel." She said, showing them a picture of the baby's head.

Both women were in Awe of the little baby on be monitor. They kept glancing back and forth at each other and the screen not knowing what to say at the tears in the couples eyes, Addison proceeded to show the couple the baby's features.

"Look at its hands and little feet." Arizona said, with tear stained cheeks. "How can it be so small yet look so big on the screen?"

"Kind of amazing isn't it?"

"Wow. Ten fingers and ten toes." Callie said in awe counting the digits over and over.

"Watch it wiggle around." Addison laughed as she had to keep moving the want to get different positions. "I must say, I see a lot of these all the time, but this is one cute baby."

"You're only saying that cause you're one of our best friends." Arizona laughed.

"Oh god. It's going to come out of the womb all perky and hyper." Callie said, palming her face.

"Calliope. I thought you wanted a little Arizona?" The blonde protested.

"I do.. I really really do." She smiled. "I love you two so much honey, you just don't understand."

"I do too, because we love you just as much mommy."

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE? BOY OR GIRL?

Choosing a name is tough!
