Chapter 19
Kagome P.O.V
Allen. Allen is all I can think about at the moment. The way his lips feel on mine, the way I feel safe in his arms and the way I've missed him so much in the past 2 months. I could keep kissing him but I need to get back home and besides Max is coming over for dinner. Max! I instantly pull away from Allen and start backing up towards the door but he catches my wrist and brings me into his chest. I look up into his eyes but I wish I didn't when I saw the pain and sadness in them. I feel horrible now that I have to tell him that I have a boyfriend.
"What did I do?" He asks quietly. I sigh not wanting to see his reaction when I break the news.
"Allen…" I start and by the tone of my voice, he tightens is grip on my wrist as if he knows what I'm going to say.
"I'm sorry Allen, I can't do this. I have a-
"No! No, no, no, no! Don't say it!" He pleads the pain evident in his voice.
"Boyfriend." I finish quietly and then look down at my shoes but a finger on my chin lifts it up so I'm looking back up at Allen. Tears start to form in the corners of his eyes.
"Don't cry, Allen! Please don't!" I beg desperately. But it's too late as the tears start to falling down one by one until there streaming down his face. I lift my free hand up to his face to wipe away the tears but his voice stops the movement.
"Don't." He says coldly before continuing, "I thought you loved me."
"I do! I really do Allen!" I counter back and feel that familiar stabbing in my heart come back.
"Then why do you have a boyfriend?"
"What, so I'm supposed to be moping around all day crying over you, when you broke up with me over the phone!" I say my voice raising at the end, "Am I not allowed to move on? Huh?" By now I am slightly shouting.
"I-I didn't see it that way." He whispers.
"Whatever, I need to go anyways. I've got dinner with my boyfriend." I say emphasizing the word 'boyfriend'. He winces at the word but loosens his grip on my wrist and so I take the chance to slip free and start walking home. He calls after me but I just keep walking, walking away from him.
I open the front door of my house and then walk into the kitchen to see Max, Mum and Sota at the table eating. 'Fudge, I'm late!' I stride over to Max and give him a kiss on the cheek before giving my excuse.
"Sorry I'm late, I ran into an… old friend." Max gives me a weird look before carrying on eating.
"Just this once." Mum mumbles through a mouthful of food. 'Few!' I think and mentally wipe away the imaginary sweat on my forehead.
Allen P.O.V.
"Whatever, I need to go anyways. I've got dinner with my boyfriend." She says emphasizing the word 'boyfriend'. I wince at the word but loosen my grip on her wrist and she takes the chance to slip free and start walking back to her house. I call her name but she doesn't respond or acknowledge that she heard me. That's when it hits me she's not mine anymore. I run out of Starbucks and back to the apartment so I can just sleep away the pain. So that's exactly what I did.
My head hits the pillow and I fall asleep the fastest I have ever done before.
