Chapter 10

NOTE: I do not own anything related to the TMNT universe. The OC's are of my own creation.

The Things You Can Find Out Just By Tossing Hay

NOTE: I want to apologize for not being able to update… it seems as though someone decided they were going to mess with my mobile… things did not go well for them. Anyways, I am back and will be picking up where we left off. Last, but certainly not least, is Raphael. So… enough with the notes, let's just dive right in, shall we? ;)

'Alright big boy, you ready to toss a bunch of hay bales?" Rosie gave him a playful wink, knowing that he would be able to get the job done quicker than anyone else. "I'm going to be making lunch soon, and you know what that means!"

"Holy hell, you gonna make your steak sandwiches babes?" Raph had a smile a mine long, and also tried to not drool all over himself. "I'm gonna have this done in not time!"

You see, Rose's steak sandwiches were famous for two things… they tasted wonderful, and they were sure to fill you up! The latter being that the damn things probably weighed three pounds each, for everything she put on them! Thin sliced steak, grilled with smoke seasoning, all kinds of cheeses (whatever struck her fancy at the time of making) bacon, of course, and all kinds of veggies. Everything was piled high on a homemade bun, and the only ones who could ever finish them were the turtles. Rose, and the three girls all shared one, and Splinter usually ate about half of his, and would save the rest for lunch the next day.

"You bet your sexy turtle ass I'm making them!"

"Woo hoo!" Raph yelled so loudly, that Rosie had to cover her ears.

"Big mouth!" She teased.

"Don't start nuthin' ya can't finish girly!" Raph teased right back.

"Do you want the sandwiches or not big guy? Because I can go all night with this… but that would mean no steak sandwiches for you."

The look on the poor turtle's face, when told no food, made Rose burst out in uproarious laughter. That, in turn, made Raphael start to chase her the rest of the way to the barn.

"Whoa big guy, you gotta get this done first before you get to play."

Raph gave a low growl as he picked her up, swinging her in the air. "I'ma hold ya to that girly!"

"You got it big guy!" Giving him a swift kiss on the cheek, Rosie ended with, "Let's do this!"

Things started out alright, and were going at a fast pace, Raphael did not play around when it came to food, especially those steak sandwiches! Rosie had left several minutes before so she could start on lunch, and Raphael was almost done. He decided he was going to take a little break… to daydream about those steaks!

As the muscular turtle kicked back on a few of the bales, he heard a loud squeak. Jumping up, his head turning this way and that, he looked for wherever the sound was coming from. Not finding anything, he decided that it was probably his imagination. "Better get back ta work." He muttered.

Grabbing the rake, he resumed his work… and heard the squeak again!

"What the hell? Where is that coming from?" Stopping yet again, he listened intently… and found out where it was coming from… and who was making it.

The squeak came from a tiny field mouse, which was right at Raph's feet, looking up at him.

"Aw, hey little guy, what's wrong? Ya got somewhere to go or sumthin?" Squatting down, the big turtle stuck his finger out, "Ya need a lift somewhere little fella, huh? Jump on up an I'll take ya where ya wanna go."

The little mouse was in awe of this huge creature that was standing before it. However, for some strange reason, it understood what the turtle was saying and hopped onto Raph's finger. "So, where do ya need to go? Is your home in one of these bales of hay?"

He assumed the return squeak meant yes, so Raphael slowly moved upwards, stopping at each bale to see if the mouse would get off. He was rewarded with an answer on the third bale. "Ah, so this is yer home then… ya gotta get another place to stay there little guy cuz this bale is goin' out to the fields where the goats are."

The little creature somehow did not like what the turtle said, (Rose said it was probably his tone of voice, but the big guy swore up and down that it understood him) however, it jumped off of his finger and scurried into the hay.

"Well, that's the thanks I get fer helpin' ya out!" Raph huffed. He was about to turn and finish up when he heard a voice from behind him.

"Who are you talking to dude?" Rosie asked, looking around for, perhaps one of his brothers.

Rose would have never guessed, in a thousand years, that she would be the one to scare the hell out of Raph, but it happened! The big guy must have jumped five feet into the air when he heard her voice!

"Damnit woman, why ya gotta sneak up on me like that?"

Rosie cocked an eyebrow, and then started to laugh her ass off. "I scared you! Oh my God, that was TOO FUNNY!"

"Ain't funny girl!"

"Is so!" She teased back. Rose knew that she really shouldn't laugh, but couldn't help herself. Anyways, it was a nice change of pace… her making him scared. "Raph, you… JUMPED dude! I mean REALLY jumped! And you call yourself a ninja!" Sticking out her tongue, she giggled at him while wrapping her arms around his muscular neck.

"Still ain't funny woman! An what did I tell ya 'bout that tongue?"

"Don't stick it out unless I plan on using it?" She replied, still giggling.

"Yep! An unless you are gonna use it, I suggest ya put it back in!" Smacking her ass, he pulled her close to him.

"Whoa big guy, you haven't finished your work yet." Returning the ass smack, Rosie quickly backed away from him, deftly avoiding his skilled hands. "You finish your work, you can smack my ass all you want… but… you ain't getting' this (smacks her ass), until you finish with this! (smacks one of the bales of hay)

Raphael tried to say something… tried to tell her that the bale she smacked contained the mouse. However, all he got was his mouth open, ready to speak, when the little mouse came scurrying out… only to fly right into the turtles mouth!

Things happened so very quickly after that… it was kind of hard to keep up with. Raph promptly spit the mouse back out, which sent it flying right back to its 'house'. Rosie hurried over to him, rubbing his shell as he dry heaved and yelled, "I almost ate it, I almost ate it!" Just when he was about to calm down, said mouse came back out, bringing with him, one could only assume, was his family… and extended family… there were a LOT of them. (Raph says a hundred or so, but Rose swears it was only seven or eight) They all leaped onto Raphael, trying franticly to jump off of him and get away.

Raphael, being the huge fierce ninja that he is… screamed like a girl and ran around in circles, batting at them unsuccessfully. "Get 'em off of me, get 'em off!" Was all he could scream.

Rose stood there for a few seconds, dumbstruck. Here before her stood, Raphael, a turtle that, together with his brothers and Splinter, defeated Shredder and the foot clan… screaming like a little… well, a little girl! It was comical! Rose HAD to laugh… she just had to, couldn't help herself.

"Oh my God! Will you just… STAND… STILL… DAMNIT!" Easier said than done. She ended up tripping him to get him on the ground. "Stop SQUIRMING WILL YA!" Finally, sitting on his chest, she got him to stop by yelling at him. "They are gone Raph, they are gone!" Smacking him got his attention, and brought him out of his… shall we say… fit. "What the hell Raph… you… SCREAMED LIKE A LITTLE GIRL!" That brought another bout of the giggles to Rosie's lips, much to the dismay of Raphael, who wholeheartedly denied it.

"I didn't! That had ta be you who was doin' all dat screamin' an carryin' on… NOT me!" His green eyes were scanning the ground, looking for any sign of those pesky mice. "What the hell happened?"

"I'll tell you what happened," Rose replied, sill sitting on his chest, and still giggling. "YOU… SCREAMED… LIKE… A… GIRL!" She emphasized each word with a bounce.

"YOU scream like a girl Rosie!" Was all he could come back with.

This only made her laugh harder. "That's because I AM A GIRL silly!" She did, KINDA feel bad for him though, and she also knew she'd never tell anyone about it… because, God forbid that they all found out that Raphael had feelings! Now… how to remedy this and get things finished up so they could eat. Rose had the perfect solution… one that Raphael had used on many an occasion to shut her up.

Quickly, and in one fluid movement, she bent down and cupped his face in her hands… and placed a huge sloppy delicious kiss on his lips. Now THAT shut him up… and a bonus was… no more freaking out because of some mice!

He forgot (so he says) all about the incident, returning her kiss for several moments before breaking it off. "Hey woman, I gotta finish this work up… you can have yer fun later… right now, go an make yer guy some lunch!"

"HA HA HA!" Rosie played along with it. Getting up off of him, she smiled sweetly. "Anything for you big guy!"

An idea popped into her head, "Hey Raph, how about I wait for you? Shouldn't take ya any longer than a few minutes to finish… then we can walk back to the house together, maybe I will even let ya smack my ass a few times if ya want!" Her real reason… should any mice come back; she would be there to calm him down. That, and she liked to watch him work… those muscles bulging as he picked up the bales and effortlessly tossed them around…

Giving a soft sigh, Rosie patiently waited, and watched him, making a mental note to bring a few of the cats out to the barn to take care of the mice.

So, Raph finished up, and off they went. Lunch was served, and not one mention of the screaming girl came up. Raphael even helped clean up and do the dishes. After a while, the two sat on the porch swing, watching the puffy clouds float away.

"Hey Rosie…" Raph began.

"Yeah big guy…"

"Thanks for not sayin' anythin'… ya know, about… what happened today.

Rose looked into his deep, green eyes, and smiled. "What happened today Raph?"

The big turtle returned her smile, his hand intertwined in her long hair. "That's my girl!"

Their lovely moment was brought to a halt by Mikey, "But Leo, it wasn't me! I swear!"

NOTE: Things will be skipping around some as I have ideas I wish to incorporate into the storyline. Not to worry my dears as I will let you know when and where these come from. The next chapter will be from when they first moved in, give or take a month or so. Be forewarned that it WILL contain lots of violence/war scenes, and topics that some may find offensive. Let me say this right now, and I'll be blunt, because that's how I am… if ya don't like what ya begin to read, DON'T GO ANY FARTHER. Just sayin' is all. The violent scenes are going to be pretty graphic, and the war part is from when Rose was in the Corps, and some of her past enemies will come to light. Ghost Labs will be involved as well, and we find out something HUGE about Isleen that will change everything for ALL of them. This last part will begin in the next chapter, then carry over for another chapter or 2, haven't decided yet. As always, all comments are welcome and encouraged. Until next time, be good, and be safe y'all!
