Chapter 96

"Hey." Callie smiled as she crawled onto the bed where her wife was laying down watching TV. She had been out taking the dogs for a walk on the shore by the water while her wife stayed behind at the house to laze around before they had dinner with Teddy and Henry at a nice quant little restaurant downtown.

"Hey you." Arizona replied as her wife straddled her legs. "How was the boys walk."

"Good. We missed you thought." She said, lacing her hands with her wife's when the blonde held them up.

"Where are they at?" She looked around for them.

"They're with Karev. He's outside working on the roof of the chicken coop."

"I thought we told him he can have weekends off?"

"We did. But he said he needed Monday off, so he's putting in time today so he doesn't lose hours."

"Why wasn't I aware of this?"

"You've not been cleared to got back to work by Dr. Bailey or Dr. Torres yet." Callie hovered over her wife. "So no work related things for you."

"It's been three days, I'm better."

"I know, but I'd still rather you relax." Callie leaned down and pecked her wife's lips. "So are you sure about tonight?"

"I think so, are you?"

"I say, if the books say it's okay, I think we should give it a go."

"Did you bring those papers that were in my desk?"

"Yeah, they're in my briefcase." Callie said, leaning back up. "What have you been doing while we were walking? Did you get your toes painted?" She asked when she saw the nail polish on the blondes nightstand.

"No." Arizona huffed, rolling her eyes.

"Why not?"

"Because I can't reach my toes anymore." She pouted.

"You can't?" Callie giggled.

"It's not funny, Calliope. I cried in the shower because I couldn't touch my toes." Arizona whined, not telling her wife what else she wasn't able to do anymore.

"I'm sorry. I'll paint the for you." She said, reaching for the two polishes her wife had lying out. "Pink or metallic blue?"

"Pink." She grumbled. "I hate that I can't touch my feet Callie." She sat up in the bed after her wife moved to paint her nails.

"You only have ten or eleven more weeks babe. Then we'll have a third snuggle buddy." She looked up and smiled at her wife before getting back to the task at hand.

"Yeah." She leaned back against the headboard and felt her belly as the baby kicked her. "She's wanting mommy."

"Oh yeah?" Callie grinned as she finished painting her wife's nails. Lately the baby would start kicking and moving around uncontrollably until Callie would come and softly lull her to sleep.

"Mmhmm. Here." Arizona grabbed the brunettes hand and placed it on the underside of her stomach.

"Hey love bug. Are you wanting mommy to sing to you baby?" She said, positions herself between her wife's legs as she felt her daughter kick her hand. "Is that a yes?" She said close to her wife's stomach.

"I think so." Arizona laughed when Callie placed her lips on her stomach where the baby was kicking.

"Hey." The brunette jerked back. "You kicked mommy in the face, little lady."

"I think that was a, yes mommy sing to me."

"Is it you who wants me to sing or is it the baby?" Callie said, rubbing her wife's stomach.

"Little of both." Arizona shrugged.

"What shall I sing?"

"You know which one."

"Seriously?" The brunette looked up at her wife. "It's so.. unbadass of me."

"You're really not a badass person when you're around me, unless you're defending me."

"That's because you make me weak on the knees."

"Calliope.." Arizona knew she could get her side to do anything she wanted, all she had to do was bring out her dimples. "Please. I love when you sing that song to us."

"You've already got her addicted to Disney before she's even born." Callie said, situating herself son her stomach so she was more comfy. Feeling her wife's stomach again, she felt another light kick as she began to hum the beginning of the song.

'Mmmmhmmm' She mummered as the blonde formed a huge grin on her face.

So this is love, Mmmhmmm

So this is love
So this is what makes life divine'

Callie looked up and winked at her wife before focusing her attention back to singing to her swollen stomach.

'I'm all aglow, Mmmmhmmm
And now I know
The key to all heaven is mine'

Callie continued to sing as she felt the baby's kicking settle. Reaching for her wife's hand, she placed a kiss on her knuckles before singing the last parts of the song.

'My heart has wings, Mmmmhmmm
And I can fly
I'll touch ev'ry star in the sky
So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of'

She hummed as Arizona combed her fingers through the brunettes hair with her free hand. She could spend the rest of her life moments like this.

'Mmmmhmmm
Mmmmhmmm
So this is love'

Callie finished the song, and sat up on her knees. "Good night baby." She leaned down and kisses her wife's belly one more time.

"And you say I make you weak in the knees. What about what you do to me?"

"What can I say.. I make it easy for the ladies to fall for me." She giggled. Scooting back down the bed, she grabbed her wife's legs and pulled her down so now she was lying back on the mattress.

"What are you doing?" Arizona asked as Callie straddled her thighs.

"I was just thinking." Callie said, lifting her wife's shirt back up. "We have an hour before we met Teddy and Henry for dinner.

"And?" The blonde knew where her wife was going with this.

"And... I was thinking." She bend down and kissed her wife's collar bone. "Maybe I could have a little dessert before we go have dinner." She sat up and pulled the elastic waistband of her wife's pants to take a peek of what the blonde had to offer.

Arizona pushed Callie's hands away before she had a chance to look at her center. She was embarrassed. It wasn't that she didn't want to have sex with her, because God, she wanted Callie to take her so bad. But this was the first time that the brunette would see her like this and she wasn't ready for it yet.

"What did you do that for?" Callie pouted, when Arizona smacked her hands away.

"I..." She sighed and looked away. "Just no, okay."

"Arizona. It's been two weeks." She said, getting off the bed. It wasn't that she was upset that they'd went that long without sex, but it was the way her wife brushed her off. "We've never went that long." She said, going into the bathroom and closing the door behind her a little too hard.

"Callie." She sighed when her wife slammed the door. She felt bad for turning her down the past few times but she just felt embarrassed.

Going into the bathroom, Callie washed her face and fixed her hair and makeup before they headed out to dinner. She knew Arizona denying her hurt more than it should, but she couldn't help how she felt. After reapplying her markup and freshening up, she exited the room thinking her wife had to be asleep because she hadn't heard a peep from her since entering the bathroom. Seeing her awake still lying on the bed with her arms crossed, Callie quickly walked into the closet without saying a word to grabbed her flats before walking out the bedroom door.

"Callie don't." Arizona said as the brunette left out of the room. "Don't make me get up and chase you." She yelled. "You know it'll take me a minute." She said, rolling on her side to sit up in the bed. Her stomach was just way to big to move easily anymore. "But.. I'll do it." She said as she saw her wife come back to the door yet to meet her eyes.

Callie didn't want her wife to have to get up and chase after her, not on her condition, so that's why she found herself, quietly standing in be doorway. "Why do you not want me anymore?" She asked, not takin her eyes off the floor.

"Calliope." Arizona didn't expect that to come out of her wife's mouth at all. "I do, sweetie." She didn't know her wife was thinking that, she never meant for her to feel that way. "Why would you think that?"

"It's been two weeks."

"I've not been feeling well, you know that."

"This week." Callie said. "You've not been feeling well this week. I took you to the hospital three days ago... I know you didn't feel good, but what about last week?"

"Callie." She sighed, she really was hoping to avoid this.

"You turned me down three times last week and again today. You told me you were feeling better." The brunette said, crossing her arms, still not meeting blue eyes. "Do you not want me anymore?"

"Calliope. Don't say that, you know I do." She said, standing from the bed and walking over to her wife. "Why would you think I don't want you?" She said, cupping her wife's cheeks to get her to look at her.

"You've never turned me down before, usually you're all over me before I even get the chance."

Sighing. "I was so hoping to avoid admitting this." Arizona blushed and pulled her wife to the chair in the corner of the room. "Sit." She motioned.

Talking a seat in the chair, Callie sat there watched as her wife stood above her. "This is so embarrassing for me."

"What?" Callie thought if her wife was trying to make her feel better she was doing a crappy job.

"Stop being all pouty and mad." She smacked at the brunettes arms to get her to uncross them. "If anything I should be be one that's pouty."

"Arizona." Callie rolled her eyes.

"Geez, okay." Arizona said, sitting down on her lap. "I can't see myself." She whispered just putting it out there.

"I need more than that?"

"Painting my toenails isn't the only thing I can't do right now. It's embarrassing."

"I have no idea what you're getting at." Callie finally looked up at her.

"Good god, Calliope, do I have to spell it out?" She asked, getting a blank stare from her wife. "Okay." She rolled her eyes. Evidently she had to spell it out. "I haven't been able to prep the surgical field in two weeks." She motioned to her sex. "My stomach is too big, so I can't see to do it and I'm afraid I'll cut myself if I try."

"That's it? That's why we've not had sex for two weeks?" She asked, receiving a nod from the blonde. "What kind of excuse is that?"

"It's embarrassing. You've never saw me like that before, I always keep it nice and neat for you." Arizona blushed.

"I just saw you three days ago. I helped you take a shower before taking you to the hospital."

"Yeah but you didn't see it because that wasn't your focus. You were only thinking about helping me shower and you didn't pay any attention, plus it didn't matter then because I was hurting so bad." Arizona reminded her. "It's not fun, not being able to groom yourself."

"I don't care what you look like."

"But you say you love it."

"I love you.. everything about you." Callie brushed her blonde hair out of her face. "I'm not with you because you keep yourself well groomed."

"I know." She sighed.

"So how long was you planning on keeping this up? Because eventually I would have seen it... I don't know... when you were having my baby!"

"I had an appointment Monday to get a wax." She rolled her eyes.

"Why don't you cancel it and let me do it for you."

"What? No." Arizona shook her head, there was no way she was going to let her wife groom her.

"Why not?" The brunette asked.

"Because.. that's just.." She continued to shake her head. "No Callie."

"I'd let you shave mine."

"I.." Arizona didn't know what to say to that. She had never thought about shaving her wife, but it did sound kind of interesting. "I don't want you to ever think I don't want you baby, because I do. All the time." She took Callie's face in her hands. "I promise, after Monday I'll give you all you can handle." She said kissing the brunettes forehead. "Okay?"

She looked up into her wife's blue eyes and shook her head. "I guess you forgot." Callie said, using her wife's own line on her. "I'm a Robbins and one way or another... we always get what we want." She smiled when her wife's face dropped.

Scoffing at her wife, Arizona shot back. "But you forgot, we Robbins can be awful stubborn too." She stood from the brunettes lap.

"We'll see." Callie grinned, stood from the chair and sauntered to the doorway again, checking her watch. "You better get ready, we're meeting them in twenty minutes." She said, her mind already going over the many things she could do to get her wife to break.

"So please tell me you've finally picked a name." Teddy said, taking a sip of her margarita. Callie and Arizona had met the couple at Mexican restaurant in town about twenty minutes prior and was all talking over appetizers and drinks.

Looking over to her wife, Arizona shook her head. "No, not yet. It's back and forth still."

"Seriously? This kids going to be in second grade before she even has a name."

"Teddy." Henry scolded. "Excuse her, she's had a few drinks and she's a little bitter Theodora isn't in the hat of names." He whispered his fiancés little secret to the couple sitting across from them.

"Henry." Teddy elbowed in the side.

"Awe, Theodora." Arizona placed her hand over on her best friends. "We love you and we'd be honored to name our baby after you." She patted her friends hand. "But I don't want my kid to be teased growing up." She laughed.

"Shut up." She smacked her hand away before taking another drink of her Margarita.

"Teds.." Arizona watched her friend. "You know I love you right."

"Well why isn't my name in the running. It's a good name."

"It is.. it is a great name, isn't it Calliope." Arizona said taking a drink of her lemon water.

"It is." Callie nodded, swallowing a chip.

"It's just your name's in another hat.. along with Aria's."

"And Cristina's." The blonde laughed.

"What for?"

"Well.." Callie said, looking at her wife. "Arizona and I have been talking and we want a plan in case something were to happen to us."

Nodding, Arizona finished her wife's sentence. "We want to know that the baby would be taken good care of. And of course mama and daddy won't be around forever so we were thinking of who we'd want to raise our baby. We don't want a godmother for her or anything, mainly cause I hate that term, but.." She shrugged.

"We want someone who would tell her how much she meant to her mommies. And so we are thinking about you and my sister." Callie picked up where her wife left off.

"And Cristina." Arizona laughed.

"Seriously? Cristina?" Henry questioned.

"Well, she threw herself in there, but she's not really in the running." The blonde laughed as she felt her wife place her hand on her thigh and squeeze.

"You'd really want me to take care of her?" Teddy asked, tearing up.

"Yeah, Teds. If you and Henry would agree?" Arizona said, reaching for her hand while she felt her wife's inch closer to her core. "Heaven forbid." She cleared her throat. "But if something would happen to us, we'd want you guys and Aria to share custody and take care of her. We want both of our family's to be able to see her anytime they want."

"We'd love too, right honey?" She looked at her fiancé.

"Yes, I'd be happy to help raise her."

"We'd be honored." Teddy said, subtly wiping away some tears. "I'm secretly praying for a plane crash."

"Theodora!" Callie and Arizona both scolded, with a laugh.

"After you have her.."she said getting glared. From three people. "I'm kidding... kinda." She laughed, refilling her glass. "Cal, I ordered a pitcher of Margaritas. Drink up."

"No, one glass was enough." She said, lightly grazing her fingertips over her wife's core. "I have to shave tonight. I can't drink." She said, causing her wife to chocked on her drink.

"Shave?"

"Did I say shave?" She looked at the blonde and giggled. "I mean drive. I have to drive, Arizona can't fit behind the wheel right now." She leaned in and kissed her wife on the temple after she cleared her throat. "Love you." She whispered in her ear as the waitress brought them their dinner.

"I thought I was going to starve to death before they brought us our dinner." Teddy said unwrapping her silverware. "I swear it doesn't take this long at a five star restaurant. This is Mexican for God sakes, all they have to do is throw that shit together and bring it out to us."

"Well.." Arizona loved what her wife was doing right now, so she situated herself so she was slightly turned towards the brunette. "I mean you did come to a Mexican restaurant and order a steak." Arizona teased.

"Nobody asked you, mouth."

"Here, have another drink honey." Henry handed her the drink. He knew she tended to get a little carried away when she was on alcohol.

"Wow, she's either on cloud nine or that margarita is roofied." Arizona whispered to Callie.

"Mmm.. maybe a little of both." The brunette whispered back as she caressed her wife's thigh. "I love you." She leaned on and kissed her jaw.

"I know what you're trying to do." Arizona whispered back. "And it's...not working." She lied.

"I'm not doing anything." Callie played dumb, taking a bite of her food.

"Mmhmm.." Arizona hummed as they all began to dig into their meal.

"Since when is it a crime to touch my wife?"

"It's not." She informed. "You can touch me anytime you want too." She leaned over and kissed the brunette under the ear.

"Even tonight."

"Really?" Callie whispered.

"Yeah." Arizona felt bad that she had declined her wife's advances on multiple occasions over the past few weeks. She knew Callie wouldn't care what she looked like, but she still couldn't help but feel shy about the fact that she couldn't look nice for her wife.

"Let me shave you." She whispered.

"Why do you want to do that?" The blonde asked, eating some of her food. She had no clue what the brunette wanted to do it so badly.

"I don't know." Callie shrugged. "The intimacy and trust I guess. It's just nice to feel trusted and have that closeness." She leaned her head against her wife's as she saw Teddy and Henry engrossed in their own little conversation at the moment. "And it's nice to know that I get to do something like that to you that no one else in the world ever will."

"You do something like that every day." Arizona took her hand and squeezed it.

"You know what I mean."

"Okay."

"Yeah?" Callie's eyes lit up.

"As long as you promise not to laugh."

"I promise." She smiled. She really didn't know why but she was super excited to do that to her wife. "Now tell me you love me." She stuck her lips out in a pout.

Giggling, "I love you, Calliope Iphigenia." She pressed her face into the side of her wife's.

"I really think it's time to go home now."

"We've not even had dessert yet."

"I'm done." She shrugged, forgetting all about her food. She wanted to go home and get to the better part of the night.

"No you're not, finish eating or we'll go home and go straight to bed."

"You suck." Callie huffed, picking up her fork as the waitress came.

"Owe." Arizona moaned a few minutes later. "Come on baby." She rubbed her side right under her left breast. "Please stop kicking my ribs." She as she was snuggled up to her wife after finishing her dinner and starting on dessert.

"Are you okay?" Callie whispered, seeing pain in her wife's face.

"Yeah. She's just kicking me." She rubbed. "Is it possible for a baby to break your ribs."

"I read it can happen but it's rare." Callie places her hand on her wife's belly.

"I swear it feels like she's just using them as monkey bars."

"Hey, we know you're having fun." Callie leaned down and whispered to the blondes stomach. "But you need to calm down in there my little monkey." She rubbed her stomach. "You're hurting mama right now."

"Just.." Arizona stopped her wife from moving her hand off her stomach. "Keep your hand here. It's weird, but she tends to calm down when your touching me."

Smiling, Callie finished her meal as she wrapped her arm around the blonde and softly caressed the side of her stomach. "I'm not singing to her in public, I can't ruin me reputation."

"Oh, Calliope face it, you ruined your rep the day you met me. And as soon as you hold this little monkey in your arms.. you will be nothing but a big blob of jello."

"I did." She laughed. She had changed so much since she met her wife. "But I don't care, you changed me for the better." She kissed her on the temple. "And I can't wait to turn to jello when I hold our little girl."

"I can't wait either."

Clearing her throat to break the couple out of their little world. "So, you guys said you needed to talk to me.." Teddy said, pushing her plate away from her as she watched her friends cuddle in the booth in front of her. "..or was the baby thing what you wanted to talk about?"

"Um, no actually." Arizona said, taking a bite of the chocolate lava cake that her and Callie were sharing. "Callie and I have been talking for quiet a while now." She looked over to her wife. "And we're going to hire another PA to work with Dr. Avery and under Dr. Taylor and she starts training next week in fact."

"Umm.. Okay?" Teddy wondered. Usually they would talk to her before even considering any hire much less finding someone and having them start without her knowing it in advance. "Why under Taylor? A new PA should start under you. Shouldn't she?"

"Well she will for a few weeks, but then she'll be under Dr. Taylor."

"I'm totally confused? Why a new doctor? I thought Taylor was enough?"

"Well, Calliope and I have talked and talked about this and I've went over the books..and I've decided that.." She looked at her wife and received a nod. "I'm quitting the clinic."

"Wha..?" Teddy looked at her fiancé and back at Callie and Arizona. "I'm sorry. You're what?"

"I've decided to stay at home with the baby."

"No." Teddy couldn't believe her ears, she never would have thought in a million years that the blonde would quit her job for anything or anyone. "You can't. This clinic.. it's what we've worked hard for. Tim worked hard for. You're just giving that up?"

"Teddy.. I.." Arizona never once thought Teddy would be upset about it, but thinking about it now, she new her friend worked just as hard as she had for that place.

"No.." Teddy stood from the booth.

"Teds." Arizona reached for her, feeling her wife place a hand on her back.

"I can't believe you'd walk away from this." She said, needing a minute to process the news she was just handed.

"Teddy!" Arizona said shocked when her best friend walked out of the restaurant. The blonde didn't know what to say when she turned back around to Henry and her wife.

"Give her a minute." Henry said, not knowing if he should go check on his soon to be wife or let Arizona do it.

"I never thought she'd be upset." Arizona put her head in her hands.

"Honey.." Callie said, rubbing her back. "It's okay. I'll to go talk to her."

"No." She sighed. "I'll go." She said, standing from the booth. "Calm down." She whispered to the baby, rubbed her stomach before walking out the restaurant door to find her best friend.

Looking down the street, she didn't see the woman anywhere. "Teddy." She mumbled under her breath. Seeing the boardwalk across the street, she took her chance hoping her friend would have went on the deck. Dodging people on the pier, Arizona saw a familiar figure at the end of the walk. Quietly, she walked up and rested on the rail that over looked the ocean beside her friend.

"Why?" Teddy asked a few minutes after Arizona showed up.

"I've been thinking about this for a very long time Teds." Arizona said, looking out into the ocean. "I never thought you'd get mad."

"It was just a shock." She shook her head. "I thought we'd be in this together until we retired."

"We are Teddy. I'm not giving the clinic up, I'll still do things. I'm just going to stay at home and take care of my baby, I may eventually come back. Just because I'm stepping down doesn't mean I won't be back. Hell.. I may be back before my maternity leave would be up. I might hate it, but then again.. I might love it." She shrugged.

"So you're just stepping down to take care of the baby?"

"I.. uhh.." Teddy nodded. "I get it." Admitted.

"I never imagined quitting. Ever." She shook her head. "But then this happened." She pointed at her stomach. "It changes you. A baby changes your wants and dreams. And right now, my dreams are to stay home and take care of our babies." She said as she watched Teddy nod in understanding. "Callie's going to take a little step back too, but just a day a week." She said when Teddy looked at her again.

"Wow. I just never saw neither of you taking a step back."

"Me neither." Arizona admitted again. "But it's like I told mama the other day. You never really understand life until it's growing inside you. You see things for what they're really worth."

"Yeah."

"I'll still be over the clinic. I'll be in and out more than you realize. You'll never miss me." She said, leaning on her friend.

"Except that it'll give the doctors more of an excuse to be pushovers now that you won't be there." Teddy rolled her eyes.

"Callie will be there.. plus.. the clinic will be left in your hands." Arizona looked up at her. "If you want the position."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Everything will start going through you know instead of through you and then to me. You'll handle everything and then I'll step in if you need me or if I see fit."

"I don't know what to say." Teddy shook her head. "I feel like an ass right now."

"Yeah but you're my ass." Arizona bumped the dark blonde with her hip. "It comes with a thirty-five percent pay increase."

"Forty percent." Teddy played.

"Okay forty."

"Hell yeah."

"Yeah, hell yeah.. because I was going to offer fifty percent." The blonde laughed. "Now I still save ten percent."

"You're such a bitch." Teddy scolded. Leaning back against the blonde. "I'm sorry Zo." She said, feeling bad for rushing out of the restaurant.

"It's okay. Callie was a little shocked when I suggested it to her not long after I surprised her with the pregnancy."

"You've been thinking about it that long?"

"Yep." Arizona turned away from to be ocean and looked toward the front of the pier, seeing her wife and Henry strolling their way. "You mad at me?"

"No." Teddy admitted. "I know if you've thought about it that long, it's the right choice."

"Hug it out?" The blonde held out her arms.

"You're such a dork." Teddy laughed hugging her friend. "Love you, big tits." She teased.

"They are pretty big aren't they." Arizona laughed.

"Yep."

"Come on." She said, putting her arm around her friend. "Let's make Callie buy us a milkshake."

"You just had dessert."

"Yeah but I had to leave it behind so I could talk some jackass down." Arizona laughed as they walked to their significant others.

Most may know, but incase there is people that doesn't... the song Callie sung to the baby is 'So this is love', from Cinderella.
