Chapter 17
NOTE: I do not own anything associated with the TMNT universe, my OC's are of my own creation. (Apologies, I forgot to put this in the last 4 chapters I posted. Oops! )
What To Do Now?
"Damnit, I knew this was gonna happen at some point and time!" Rose was livid when Raph brought an unconscious April into their home. "This bitch doesn't know when to stop! Why can't they just leave me alone already?" Pacing back and forth, Rose was trying to figure out what she should do next. On one hand, she wanted to kick her ass to hell and back, on another, she should call the police and press charges; however, that probably would not stop O'Neil from attempting to come back again and again, or hound her whenever she was out and about. "Donnie, go around the house and check for hidden cameras."
The smartest of the four turtles, Donnie looked a little perplexed. "But Rosie, I don't really have anything that could detect hidden cameras!"
"Well then I guess you will just have to search by looking then!" Rose yelled. Taking a moment, she closed her eyes, trying to reign in her anger. "I'm sorry Donnie, I didn't mean to yell; it's just that some reporters have stooped to placing hidden cameras so they can try to get a good story, and… well, I just have a feeling about it."
"Alright Rose, Leo, Mikey Brissen, Seren and Splinter can begin looking. Don't worry, if something is there, we'll find it!" He began explaining what they would be searching for. "She probably planted it high enough so it wouldn't be at eye level and easily detectable; and it's probably small, so look above your heads for anything small that looks out of place. If you find something, even if you're not sure about it, take it anyways. I'll look at it to determine if it is a camera or not."
Off they went; so that left Rose, Raph and Isleen to question April. Rose wanted Isleen to go with them, but she insisted on staying behind for some reason or another. Rose didn't want to argue on it right then, so Isleen stayed.
"Raph, help me tie her to this chair, I wanna make sure she can't escape." Rosie was gonna get to the bottom of this, once and for all, and if she had to rough O'Neil up some to get answers, then so be it.
The biggest of the turtles, Raphael lifted her like she was a sack filled with feathers and plopped her in the chair; he proceeded to tie her hands behind the chair, and then secure her to it. The big guy was all for his woman kicking O'Neil's ass; this bitch caused so much stress and pain in Rosie's life at the present; he felt that she did deserve some pain of her own now. "Alright babes, she's good and secure; now whadda we do?"
"We wait for her to wake up; then we start questioning her till she tells us everything." Came Rosie's reply. Pulling a chair up right in front of April, Rose sat and began waiting for her to wake up.
*About ten miles from McDougal estate*
"Yes sir, it's done; yes, the cameras are all working and we are getting live feed as we speak. Alan will be patching it in to you soon." Wayne was speaking with Richard Smith from Ghost Labs; he was damn happy that this job was over with, and he also let the doctor know about O'Neil being there, snooping around as well.
"Really?" Came the reply when Wayne told him about her. "This may be a good day for me after all! This O'Neil girl called me earlier, wanting to know about Ms. Murry, said something about doing a story on the McDougal's. Now I won't be bothered by her meddling. Good work Wayne, you three will find a bonus with your usual pay." Smith was pleased that it went off without a hitch; he always loved it when things happened as planned, and it was a bonus with O'Neil being there; his bosses would be pleased to hear this.
"Well thank you sir, I'll let the guys know about your generosity. Yes, we will talk again soon." Hanging up the phone with the doctor, Wayne looked in the rear view mirror at Alan. "Is the link active yet?"
Alan didn't answer at first; he was too busy watching what was transpiring before his eyes. He hadn't even heard anything Wayne said; eyes transfixed to the screens in front of him. "Oh my fuckin' god!"
Wayne became annoyed, and was ready to yell at him, when he heard Alan say 'Oh my fuckin' god'. "What, what the hell's goin' on?"
"You gotta pull over man; take a look at this! Hell, I don't even know… what the living fuck are they?"
This part made Wayne slam on the brakes, screeching the van to a halt. Unbuckling his seat belt, both Wayne and Blake went to the back of the van and looked at the screens. They stood there, silent and transfixed on the screens, not believing what their eyes saw.
"Hey boss, are those… what… TURTLES? And is that a giant RAT?" Blake had a few beers before the gig, but he knew he wasn't that buzzed.
Wayne studied the images intently for a few minutes, and then confirmed what Blake had already said. "Yep, they look like turtles and a rat to me! Jesus, they are fuckin' HUGE!"
"Good, so I ain't goin' bonkers then!" Alan said with a sigh of relief.
Wayne was once more on the phone with Dr. Smith, letting him know what they saw. This is not looking too good for our guys and gals now. Their secret was out; and it came out to the wrong people.
*McDougal estate*
"Hey big guy, you should probably stand in the shadows for right now. I don't want the bitch to see you, okay." O'Neil wanted a story, and the turtles were a BIG story; however, Rose was going to do anything and everything to keep them safe and away from idiots like O'Neil. Getting tired of waiting, Rose smacked April across the face to wake her up. "Yo bitch, time to wake your nosey ass up and face the music."
Groaning, April's head started to move. "Wha… where… where am I?" Groaning again, she slowly started to lift her head. She had no idea how long she was out, but thankfully she was still alive; still being the operative word.
Rose had not turned any of the lights on, she wanted it kept dark in case O'Neil started looking around, or one of the guys came in. Moonlight was the only kind of light shining in the room, and that was only enough to show just shadows. "Why did you break into my house O'Neil? Did you plant cameras too; wanting to get some dirt on me or something? Well, I got a news flash for ya; 'Reporter gets her ass kicked by Rose McDougal because of being a nosy bitch!' that news worthy for ya?"
"Oh shit, no, wait; I didn't mean… it's just that…" April was fumbling over her words; she just couldn't get them out fast enough. "Please don't beat me up!"
"I know why you can bitch; I saw your little commentary after that wedding video you posted. You want some dirt on my guy, don't ya?" Grabbing a handful of her hair, Rose yanked O'Neil's head back. "The only thing you are gonna get is your ass kicked, then thrown in jail!"
"Please; don't do that!" Tears welled up in her eyes, she should have known better than to mess with Rose. "I'm, I'm sorry, really I am!"
'HA! You ain't sorry for nothin'!" Cocking her fist back, Rose was getting ready to pop O'Neil right in the mouth when Isleen stopped her.
"Rosie, wait! I hear Donnie calling you!"
Stopping, for just a second, Rose answered Donnie's call, "What, did ya find something?"
"Cameras Rosie, a whole bunch of them!" Came the turtle's reply.
This sent Rose over the edge, and she laid into O'Neil hard; and she kept on going, punching her in the face over and over until the TV reporter blacked out again. Walking away for a few moments in an attempt to calm herself down; and then having an image in her head of the guys being carted off to some lab to be experimented on, sent her anger over once again. She kicked O'Neil in the chest, sending the girl flying backwards. Rose gave her several kicks before Raphael pulled her off of the beaten and bloodied girl.
"Babes, calm down, it's ok; it's ok!" He wrapped his arms around her, holding her to him as she struggled to break free. O'Neil had been given enough of an ass whooping; for now.
Donnie and the others came back in to the pool room and stopped short of what they saw. Rose told them to stay away from O'Neil. "She ain't moving till I say so, got it?"
Nobody questioned her.
"Donnie, the cameras, how many, where were they and were they working or not?" Everyone knew when Rose was pissed off, you gave her the information she needed, and now! "Well?"
"Fourteen altogether, at least 2 in every room on this level, none upstairs or downstairs; they were live, however, they are no longer like that." Donnie was fast with the tech stuff; he only got a bit flustered nowadays when Rose would do something like this, but he was getting better at it. "I can attempt to try and track the signal, see where it goes."
Walking over to him, Rose kissed him on the cheek and smiled. "Thanks Donnie, you are the best!"
"Not a problem Rosie, glad to be of service." Returning her smile, he went off with Isleen to try and see if he could find out where the signal was going to.
Mikey went over to the door and checked it. "Hey Leo, the sensor looks like it's not centered; maybe that's why the alarm didn't sound when she opened it.
Coming over to check, it was indeed off some. "I think I can fix it, just needs to be centered. We can put the padlock on it for now, and tomorrow I can get it done, if that's okay with you Rose."
"Yeah, sure guys." Her mind was on O'Neil now. Rose knew that the girl needed medical care; however she wasn't done with her yet. She told Brissen to get the medical kit, and then did what she could for April.
"That ought to hold her over till she wakes up." Rose said to no one in particular. She suddenly felt exhausted, and wanted nothing more than to go back to bed. However, that would not be happening any time soon. "Seren, you and Mikey wanna make some coffee please; this is gonna be one hell of a long night."
"Sure thing Rosie." Seren turned and started walking towards the kitchen when she heard Mikey's voice boom out.
"And I'll make breakfast! I'm hungry!" Catching up to Seren, the two went to do their thing.
Leo went to get the padlock for the door, but came back with three of them. "Let someone try to get through this!" And with that, he set to work with the drill so he could get it installed quickly.
"Rosie, do you think we should move her into the living room? I mean, why stay out here when we can sit and be a bit more comfortable in there, ya know."
Looking over at her friend, Rose nodded. "Yep, excellent Idea Brissen! Big guy can you bring her in, chair and all, please."
"Sure thing babes, not a problem." Raphael easily lifted both and carried it into the living room setting the bound up girl down by the TV. This was gonna be one hell of a night, and lord knows what other shit is gonna happen when the sun comes up. Sighing heavily, Raph plopped down on the sofa while Rose went in the kitchen to bring him some breakfast and coffee. He knew they would get through this in one piece… least, that's what he kept telling himself.
*Ghost Labs*
Richard did not want to come into work this damn early; however, when the second call came in from Wayne, he had to rush to his office to see for himself. There, right in front of him, on the monitor, he witnessed four turtles and a large rat, not only talking, but also doing things… HUMAN things. He did not believe what he was seeing; some kind of freak of nature; some kind of… MUTANTS! Yes… mutants; that could be the only possible explanation for it! Twenty years ago they had lost a small batch of, what we now call mutagen, however back then it was called radioactive material. It was to be Ghost Labs first trial on animals to see what kind of properties it had, and what it could do. However, there was an accident and the truck lost the small shipment. Ghost Labs looked everywhere for it, but was unsuccessful in finding it. Could this be that batch which was lost? He had to know; had to have these… mutants in the lab so he could study them more closely.
No sooner did he think that thought, then the feed went dead, they had found the cameras! "No no no no no!" He yelled; Richard was so close now; he HAD to get them in here, and soon.
Picking up the phone, he was almost sure his bosses wouldn't take his head off when he would wake them up. This news should save him a lot of grief; and it just might save him his life as well. The bosses were getting to the point of; if he did not produce any good information soon, he was going to be 'terminated'; and that did not mean fired!
NOTE: Going to leave it hanging for the moment. Not to worry though, I will soon be posting another chapter or two tomorrow for you all!
