Chapter 19
NOTE: I do not own anything associated with the TMNT universe; all of my OC's are of my own creation, and not to be used without my permission.
I'm sorry for the delay; real life doesn't stop, even for a turtle story.
Annoyances Are A Bitch
*GHOST LABS*
Richard had been pacing back and forth in his office now for the past hour, trying desperately to come up with another plan, hell, any plan, to get Rose and those five… freaks to his labs for processing. He tried everything he could; sent out trained snipers, mercs, even giving false info to the media so they would swarm the estate. Nothing worked, and now it seemed as though they were thourghly dug in for the long haul. This did NOT bode well for him; the higher-ups wanted results, and they wanted them NOW.
A knock at the door brought the doctor out of his thoughts. "Come in." He knew who it was, Shaun Muller had been working with Ghost Labs for twenty five years now, and he was very good at his job. The doctor had called on him when everything else was failing, hoping that he would have some kind of idea as to best deal with the situation at hand. "Good to see you again Shaun."
"The pleasure, as always, is all mine Richard." Holding out his hand, Shaun nodded slightly as the two men exchanged greetings. "I hear that you have come to a standstill on the McDougal case and need something fresh."
Clasping his hands behind his back, Richard began pacing once more. "Yes, I'm afraid so. We have thrown everything at them with not luck whatsoever, and I am out of ideas. The bosses are starting to become annoyed with me, and you know how bad things can become when they do not get what they want."
Nodding in agreement, Shaun took a seat. "Yes, I know all too well; which is why I am here. I want to do everything that I can to help you solve this problem so we can continue with the studies. No need to fill me in, I have read all of your reports on the situation." Leaning back in the leather chair, the head attorney for Ghost Labs crossed his hands over his lap. "I have some suggestions for you…"
And with that, they began conversing about how they would implement several of the items Shaun was speaking about.
"So, we don't let up on them for one moment; wear them down, then attack." Richard had a hint of hope; maybe this one was going to work out for them, it might take some time, however the end result should be in their favor.
"Anything that you need, Ghost Labs will provide you, you have card blanche to do whatever is needed to bring in Ms. McDougal and her 'guests'." With that, Shaun got up from his chair and walked over to where Richard was still pacing back and forth. Standing in front of him, Shaun took him by the arms, halting his movement. "The bosses understand that this will take time to accomplish, so do not worry about a deadline. Move at your own pace, however, keep ON moving with it. "We cannot let that group recuperate, even for one day; understand?"
Looking right into the lawyers eyes, the doctor responded with a,"Understood."
Smiling, Shaun patted him on the shoulder, and then turned to leave. Before opening the door, he had one piece of advice for his longtime friend. "Richard, much as I tried to argue on your behalf for your recent failures, the bosses agreed to give you one last shot. The death of Ms. Murry's parents was one they did not want to deal with. It was all I could do to keep the police off of our backs. Your men were very sloppy in their work, and they paid for their sloppiness with their own lives. If you fail in this, your life will be forfeit." Glancing towards the ground for a moment, Shaun sighed slightly. "I am sorry my friend, I tried my best to not have it come to this."
With that said, he opened the door and walked out, leaving the doctor staring at the closed door with a frightened look upon his face. Failure was not an option for him any longer. Suddenly feeling queasy, Richard shakily made his way over to his desk, plopping down heavily in his chair.
He knew what he had to do; the question was, would it succeed. Picking up the phone, he began his long list of calls; trying very hard not to think about what the bosses had said.
*THE McDOUGAL ESTATE*
More planning was going on today. After a lengthy talk, everyone had agreed to call in reinforcements. Rosie's unit mates were called in, as were other various family friends and overall friends. These were people Rose, Brissen and Seren trusted; people that would keep their secrets about the turtles and Splinter.
Supplies were bought, weapons were ordered and the whole estate was upgraded in every way possible. Rose was taking NO chances with things; she knew this was going to be a fight for their very existence.
One of these people who were coming to the estate was a good friend of Corkscrew's; his name; Casey Jones. He wasn't in the military, and had little experience with a gun, but damned if he couldn't bash some skulls with a bat and hockey stick! It took him a few moments to get used to having four big turtles and a rat around, however, when he and Raph instantly hit it off, all was well… well, sort of. Casey had a thing for April, much to Rose's, and April's surprise.
"Hey big guy, can I speak with ya for a moment?" Rose was standing in the living room doorway, watching Raph and Casey reinforce the windows more.
"Sure thing babes, gimmie a sec, k." Looking down at her, Raphael had a feeling on what this would be about; Casey, it usually was. Probably something he said to April, and she took it the wrong way and complained to Rose. Sighing, the muscular turtle made his way down the ladder and went into the kitchen.
"What did he do now babes?" He had told Casey to back off on April some; she really wasn't ready for a relationship. However, both he and Rose had noticed an instant attraction between the two from the moment they met. April and Casey however, were obvious to it for now.
Smiling up at Raph, Rose entwined her hand in his. "Big guy, I dunno what to do with them! I'm about ready to just toss them in a room and lock the door. They can't come out until the sort this stuff out!"
Raph thought about it for a minute; damn, that was a good idea! At least they'd get shit done around there now and not have to hear about what he said to her or what she said to him. Kissing Rose on the forehead he spoke up. "Genius babes! That's what we'll do! Put 'em in a room an tell 'em that they gotta sort out this stuff before they can come back out!"
"Whoa! Do you really think that will work? I was just kidding around!" Rose looked a bit doubtful at first; however, after really thinking about it, yeah, it WAS a good idea! "Okay, let's do it, but we are BOTH going to tell them, you ain't leaving this all on me Raph!" With that, she got closer to him, whispering in his ear, "Since you are helping in this little plan, I will give you an extra special 'reward' tonight for helping, how does that sound?"
"Is that gonna be on top of our usual night time activities then babes?" Raphael was all for any kind of special things Rose wanted to do, crushing her against him; he placed a few nips on her neck.
Giggling, Rosie responded with, "Yeah, it'll be extra, although I may not be able to walk well tomorrow! I mean, how many times can you do that? I know at least six!"
"Ya wanna find out just how many then babes?" He loved her so much, and when they were close together, like they were now… well, let's just say that if it wasn't for the others being there, he would of taken her right then and there.
Smiling up at him, she gently caressed his cheek. "I know you could go all night big guy, however, let's put the cap at, shall we say… eight; that a good number for ya?"
"Yep, long as you are happy, I am happy Rosie."
As usual, Michelangelo had to pipe in with his thoughts on the matter. "Jesus guys, can you go five minutes without dry humping each other in front of everyone!"
The hammer Raphael was holding went flying towards Mikey, and the youngest turtle had to dive out of the way from being hit.
So Casey and April were locked in one of the bedrooms; and they did work out things, at least for the moment. The two did agree on what Rose and Raph said; there WAS an attraction there, however, considering the circumstances, they decided to leave things for when they were alone. Also agreed upon was that they would take it slow, since it had been a while for both of them, relationship wise.
That same night, Casey and April cuddled up by the fire, talking about numerous things. Their conversation came to Ghost Labs and what was going on. Knowing that April was a reporter, Casey asked her if she had done any investigating into them.
"Yes, I have, and I've come up with some interesting things."
"Such as what babe?" This peaked Casey's interest, maybe they could find something that would help… maybe.
April loved talking about her work, and she really was good at her job. "Well, for one thing, Ghost Labs has been around for well over fifty years, in the same exact spot too! And there have been a number of 'accidents' and deaths there also! It's always the same story too; the employee died as a result of an accident in one of the labs. Nobody, at least to my knowledge, has raised any questions about the accidents or deaths, which I find weird."
"Yeah, that IS kinda strange." Casey thought for several moments, "I wonder if there are any records on them; you know, what type of accident it was that caused the injury or death of someone who worked there. Do you think maybe Donnie can hack into their system?"
"Maybe; I really don't know. The few times I've been there, the security was pretty tight; I don't see them being lax at all when it comes to their files." April was thinking the same as Casey now. "Maybe Donnie can hack into it; wouldn't hurt to ask!"
"See, great minds think alike!" Casey smiled down at her.
Giving him a quick kiss on his cheek April returned his smile. "Let's go ask him now!" She began to stand up; however, Casey pulled her back down into his strong arms.
"It can wait till morning; Donnie really busted his shell today getting the security system upgraded, I don't wanna disturb his sleep."
"Yeah, you are right." Looking down at her watch, April noticed the time. "Wow, it's almost 1am; we need to get some rest."
"Well, how about we just sleep right here in front of the fire! How does that sound to you?"
April was tired, and she really didn't want to trudge up the stairs. "Alright, we can do that; just get some pillows and a blanket off of the sofa and we'll be set."
Casey hurriedly did what she wanted and soon they were lying side by side, drifting off in each other's arms. It is there that we will leave them for the moment. With the dawn will come the first onslaught of many from Ghost Labs, so let them have their rest.
*GHOST LABS*
Richard took the elevator down to the fourth floor where the 'subjects' were held. Sliding his card into the reader, he waited until the light turned green and the doors slid silently open. Briskly walking in, the doctor took in his surroundings. Confiding with one of the techs for a moment, he walked the short distance to a door marked 'SUBJECTS A & B; Bebop and Rock Steady'. Again sliding his security card, he patiently awaited the doors to open. When they did he stared directly into the eyes of the two newest mutants that Ghost Labs had specifically created for him. Of course he was safely behind a six inch thick panel of safety glass, but nonetheless, they were impressive.
"Ah my marvelous creatures, I have a job for you to do!"
He was met by much snarling and grunting, however they understood his words. "Whatever you want, we will do!" Rock Steady replied.
Dr. Richard Smith smiled, something he had not done in a while. This WOULD work, he told himself.
