Ugh, that deleted Calzona scene I posted was so important. Why in the world would they ever think it was okay to cut that out!? It could have saved a lot of wonder and aggravation I had with Callie at times!

Anyway.. a little fluffier than it has been!

Chapter 119

"I can't believe I have to do this." She grumbled as she got out of the Land Rover and waited on the street for her girls. "It would be different if I wanted this right now, but I don't."

"I know you don't, babe, and I hate it for you, but you have to do what you have to do." Callie said as she got out of the drivers side seat and opened the back door. "Hey, maybe I should take your place." She grinned, getting an annoyed glare from her wife. "Come on, little lady." She said, putting the baby on her hip as she grabbed her briefcase from the floorboard.

"That wouldn't be fair."

"Seriously?" Callie laughed.

"Ugh." She rolled her eyes. "Okay, actually it would only be fair, but still. I'm not ready." She pouted.

"I know you're not sweetie, no one is ready to leave their four month old to go back to work. Trust me, it's hell." She said while walking around the car.

"Not helping."

The brunette was so excited to have both of her girls in the building today. "She feels warm." She pressed her cheek to the baby's head to see if she was hotter than normal.

"I'm sure she's fine, she's not cranky or fussy. I'd say it's just from the blanket." Arizona shrugged.

"Yeah, maybe."

It had been a little over two months since Maria's passing in June and Callie was trying to find ways of moving on from it. Not that someone can really move on from that, but she had to accept her loss. The first week back at home was rough for her and Arizona as well. The blonde had called her out of work for two weeks the night of her Nana's death and after spending a week in Miami, Callie was ready to come back to the home she shared with her wife. Things kind of went back to normal for them. They talked, took care of their baby and had a few evenings spent at the park or boardwalk during the last week she was off. Arizona tried to keep the brunettes mind preoccupied the whole week she was home, but there was some days that she had a rough go at getting out of bed without crying for an hour which at the end of the day, was to be expected. The brunette was so glad her wife called her out for two weeks because she honestly felt she couldn't focus on anything the week they returned home. You can't bury a love one and just completely move on a day later like nothing ever happened.

Arizona was patient and considerate with the brunette even though there was a few times in the past two months that she would get aggravated at her wife, But then when she thought back to when she lost Tim she felt ashamed because she knew how hard it could be. She was there for her wife, even when Callie was smart with her a few times, but she knew it came with the loss. She had been the same way with her parents and Teddy after loosing her brother. Hell, she even moved hundreds and hundreds of miles away to get away from them all for a while when she could have easily took a fellowship close by. So she was just grateful her wife stuck around and was only grumpy.

Callie had rough days, but she took one day at a time, when she thought of her family she felt grateful. She had an amazing wife and daughter at the end of the day and that was enough. She had felt bad for the few times she had been short or grouchy with the blonde and she tried to turn that around. Arizona had been her rock during her loss and she wanted to show her how much she appreciated it.

"This sucks ass."

"Ummmm..." Callie said, looking towards her daughter and covering her ear as she pressed her head to her chest. "Mama's language is terrible Buggy." She laughed.

"Shut up." Arizona huffed as she walked into the building.

"Hey, it'll be good to have you back, and knowing that I'll be able to see this little angel anytime I want too." She smiled. "So awesome."

"What about me?"

"Oh yes." She grinned mischievously. "It'll be very good to have you back."

"You only say that cause you're hoping for a quick lay in your office." The blonde threw over he shoulder. "Aww man." She just thought of something.

"What?"

"I don't have an office anymore." She pouted. "Teddy took it."

"Take it back."

"For only two or three days a week? That's pointless."

"Well, I can always share mine." Callie said walking up to her wife. "You love it when I share my cheeseburger." She purred, wiggling her eyebrows at her wife. "I'm sure you'll enjoy sharing my office."

"I'd rather you share your poundcake." She whispered. "Rich, buttery poundcake." She licked her lips, taking the baby from her arms.

"You're in luck." Callie grinned placing her hand on the small of the blondes back. "Just so happens I brought some buttery poundcake to work with me."

"Ahh, not today. I have a headache." She said walking into the doors of the clinic.

"Ohh.." She grabbed the blondes hips from behind. "I've got a cure for that headache." She whispered as she brushed her hips into the blondes butt. "You like that baby?" She giggled when Arizona stiffened.

Arizona felt her wife's hot breath on her neck that caused shivers to run down her spin. "I'm holding your daughter." She said, tightening her hold on Charlee. "I suggest you don't do that again unless you want me to take you up to your office and punish you for being bad."

"But I have been bad, Ari, so so bad baby." Callie whispered, silently thanking God that they were the only ones down stairs right now. "I need to be punished for my bad deeds."

"Stop." She turned and shoved her wife away. "I have to focus and you're not helping." She whined.

"You'll do fine." She laughed. "It's just like riding a bike." She leaned in and kissed her wife's cheek when she noticed the time. "I have a surgery in a few minutes. I need to go get changed and talk to her parents before they take her to the OR." She said, leaning down and kissing the baby on her head. "Mommy will come and get you as soon as she's finished." She cooed to her. "I shouldn't be more than two, two and a half hours." Callie said to the blonde.

"Okay, my first appointment isn't until ten, so we're good, right monkey?" Arizona rubbed her daughters back.

"Okay, well I'll come and get her as soon as I'm done and we'll spend the rest of the morning and afternoon immersed in paper work." She smiled, excited to spend almost the whole day with her daughter at work. "Have a good first day back." Callie leaned in and kissed her lips. "Love you." She whispered. "I love you too, Mija. Be good for Mama, okay?" She said with one more kiss on the infants head before turning to leave.

"Go be a rock star Mommy." Arizona waved the baby's hand at her wife. "We love you more than the stars above." She said as her wife blew them a kiss before disappearing. "Ugh." Arizona sighed as she walked down the hallway to her old office. If she had to come back to work for now, Teddy was going to have to learn to share office space although Callie's offer sounded very appealing. "I'm sorry Mama can't stay at home with you anymore Char. After Mamaw and Poppy get back from vacation you'll be spending a few days a week with them while Mommy and I run this place. That'll be fun, right?" She said, kissing the curious infant. "I want to stay home with you, princess, but right now this place needs me too. You understand, right?" She asked, pulling the key from her back pocket. "This was Mama's office before you came into this world, love bug.. and I decided to give it up for you." She said, flipping the light switch on. "Good choice, huh? Yeah I think so too." She laughed when Charlee started to yawn. "Can you say Mama?" She bounced her in her arms as the baby fisted her hair. "Yeah, we have a few more months for that, but it's still never too soon to start teaching you." She cooed as she walked further into the office. "Wow.." She looked around. "Your aunt Teddy's trashed this place." She said, throwing a bunch of files to the side of the desk. "Maybe it's a good thing Mama came back to restore order." She said, sitting the diaper bag down on the desk before plopping down in the seat while she waited for her other employees to report to work.

A month after Maria's passing Dr. Taylor unexpectedly put in his resignation from the practice which ultimately put them in a bind when he left. Avery and Wilson were doing all they could, but were having a hard time taking on Dr. Taylor's patients too especially now that school was starting back. So with a lot of begging on Teddy's part, Arizona reluctantly agreed to come back to work two to three days a week to help the others. She was willing to hire a new doctor, but Teddy had been finding cost efficient ways to run the clinic and told Arizona if she came back they would be saving a close estimated of a hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year if she would just agree to return a few days a week. With a lot of thought and discussion with her wife and parents to make sure they didn't care to keep the baby during the week, she agreed to come back but only part time. Charlee was already four months old now, but she still wasn't ready to leave her baby girl full time yet.

A few minutes after Callie left, Arizona heard feet shuffling down the hall, concluding Teddy was on her way to the office. "Well Charlee, look who it is." The blonde said when the taller woman walked into the room.

"Fuck." Teddy jumped. "Jesus Christ Zo, you scared the shit out of me." She placed her hand over her rapidly beating heart.

"Your mouth, Theodora." She said, covering her daughters ears.

"She's sixteen, seventeen weeks old? She still has a while before she catches on." She said, seeing the blondes face drop. "What? Is it about the office? I was hoping to beat you here, so I could straighten things up some but.. I was late." She shrugged.

"No." The mom shook her head. "You said..." She whispered. "My baby's seventeen weeks." She looked down at the sleeping Latina in her arms. "Make time stop." She leaned her forehead against the infants. "I don't ever want this to end. Before I know it, she'll be talking, walking and she won't need me anymore." She looked up with tears in her eyes. "Why did you have to mention how old she is? Damn it."

"Your mouth." Teddy shot back.

"Shut up."

"She'll need you. A girl will always needs her mama." Teddy said, straightening up her desk some.

"Yeah, whatever." She rolled her eyes. "Get your ass busy. I don't pay you to stand around here."

"Damn."

"Watch your mouth around your niece." She protected the baby's ears again. "If my daughters first word is shit or damn, I'm going to cut your nipples off."

"I don't even say shit as much as your wife does." Teddy protested.

"Yeah, but I don't want to cut her nipples off. I love the taste of them too much."

"That's just disgusting." She grumbled as the blonde giggled at her reaction. "I would have thought your whacked out hormones would be under control by now. It's been months." She grumbled.

"Hey, Teds?" Arizona said sweetly.

"Yeah?"

"Suck it."

"I'm sure Callie wouldn't be to happy about that, but if that's what you want?"

"Get your ass busy Theodora. The boss is back, bitch."

"Damn it." She huffed, turning to leave. "Maybe we don't need you as bad as I thought." She joked. "Thank god it's only for two or three days a week." She grumbled.

"Your aunt Teddy is crazy baby girl."

"Hey, you told me you could still go next weekend, you remember still right? You can't change that on me because if you do I may back out."

"I wouldn't miss a weekend in sin city for the world, especially that weekend." She smiled. "Callie has booked her dad's hotel for us all. She even got you the honeymoon suit." She winked at her best friend.

"Oh god." She groaned.

After her successful surgery, Callie scrubbed out and sent a quick text to her wife. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face today because she was excited to have her wife back at work even though she hated that she couldn't stay home and take care of Charlee right now.

Jumping up immediately, she went in search of her head honcho. "Teds, hey." She said, handing her the baby. "Take a break and watch Charlee for a minute." She said, turning to leave the room. "Ohh, tell April to put my patient in a room, but let them know, I'll be fifteen, twenty minutes. Callie said she isn't feeling well so I'm gonna run and check on her."

"Okey-dokey." Teddy said taking the baby in her arms as Arizona rushed upstairs. "Charlee, I feel sorry for you, baby girl. You are going to be traumatized when you get older and hear the things your mommies do to each other." She kissed her on the forehead as she set off to tell April to get off her ass so she could take her welcomed break.

After a very nice meeting in her office with her wife, Callie went downstairs to get Charlee before going back up to her room to try to get some work done. She and the baby had kicked back and relaxed through her lunch break while Arizona worked through hers. After lunch Callie placed the baby in a little swing she had stole from downstairs as she engrossed herself in some more paperwork. She had seemed to get a lot done in the first few hours. Having her daughter with her while she worked seem to motivate her to get everything finished, but it was only because she wanted to play with her and the sooner she finished the sooner they got to have some bonding time. But sometime around two the baby became fussy and everything Callie tried wasn't working.

"Come on, Mija, please stop crying." She whispered as she rocked the baby in her arms. She had been trying everything but nothing seemed to work, not her pacifier or singing calmed her down. "Mommy's going to take your temperature." She said as she walked down the hall to an empty recovery room to grab a thermometer. Laying the baby down on the table, she took her temp. "Shhh.. I know Mija I know you don't feel well do you?" She said reading the device. "Let's see.." She grabbed her stethoscope and listened to the baby's chest, hearing some congestion. "Oh Charlee." She picked her up and hugged her to her chest. "Please stop crying baby." She was worrying about her and she knew they needed to check her out. "We'll get you some help."

"Arizona?" The blonde heard her name being called out when she was still in seeing a patient. "Where is she?" She heard the familiar voice ask loudly as she also heard the accustomed cry. "Arizona?"

Hearing the worry in her wife's voice she knew she had to check on them. "Excuse me just a minute." Arizona smiled at Mrs. Chapman and little Caitlyn before turning and walking through the doorway only to be met face to face with her wife and upset child.

"Arizona, she's sick." Callie said, worriedly. "We... we need to go. We should take her to a doctor." She said nervously as she cradled the baby. She may have been overreacting a little bit, but she couldn't stand seeing her baby so upset.

"What's going on?" She asked, turning around and seeing her patients mother eyeing them.

"She's sick. She's cried for an hour nonstop and I've tried everything, so I decided to take her temp and it was 100.3 and then I checked her lungs and she sounds congested. We need to get her some help. She's sick. I told you she felt warm this morning." She scolded the blonde.

"Callie.." Arizona tried to calm her frantic, rambling wife. She didn't blame her for worrying, but she needed to stay calm especially when there were patients around.

"Come on, we need to take her to a doctor." She tried to walk down the hallway.

"Calliope." She grabbed her. "I'm starting to take offense to that. I am a doctor, I'll check her out."

"No, she needs a real doctor."

"Callie." Arizona's eyes widened in shock. "Seriously? Do you not trust me with her? She's my daughter, I think I can handle examining her myself without the help of... 'a real doctor'." She quoted her wife.

"I.." She shook her head. "I mean not as her mother, she needs a doctor that isn't her mom."

"Breathe." She told the brunette. "Dr. Taylor was her pediatrician, he's not here any longer. I took over his patients." She told the Latina, trying to get through to her. "I think I can handle her just this once." She said, starting to get aggravated now.

"I'm not stupid, I know that." Callie said when her wife talked to her like a ten year old. "But she's sick, we should take her to the hospital."

"Take her to room four and strip her down." She pointed. "I'll be in there as soon as I write this script for my patient." She dismissed her wife and went back to her patient. She hated to be a little blunt with her, but she had Mrs. Chapman starring her down as Callie yelled that they needed to take their baby to a doctor as opposed to she wasn't. She couldn't help but take slight offense to that.

"I know, Mija." Callie whispered with tears in her eyes when she undressed her daughter in the room like her wife had asked. She couldn't stand seeing the little girl inconsolable. "Mama is coming to make you better, okay." She said, wrapping her in her blanket and swaying her until the blonde came in.

Arizona pushed open the door that hid her wife and daughter in the room. "Callie." She sighed, seeing her face still stricken.

"You were mean." She grumbled, trying to soothe the baby in her arms.

"Me?" She was shocked her wife was going to blame anything on her.

"Yes, you." The brunette told her as she laid Charlee down on the exam table.

"Wow." She scoffed, using the hand sanitizer by the door before she touched her daughter. "You basically rushed me when you saw me in the doorway of that room and demanded to take our daughter to a real doctor, in front of my patient might I add. Callie.. what the hell would you think if you were that woman and my wife ran up demanding me to take our daughter to a real doctor to get her looked at because she's running a fever?" She walked up to her crying daughter to pick her up. "Let mama see, Char." She bounced her to try to take her attention away from the crying.

Sighing, she shook her head, her eyes never leaving the crying infant now in her mothers arms. "I was scared, okay. She won't stop crying and I was worried. I am worried." She corrected. "Aren't you?"

"Of course I'm worried, Callie. She's my child, a mother worries, but I'm also a pediatrician that was trying to take care of another sick tiny human." She said, cradling the baby in her arms. "I want to drop everything I'm doing to help our baby, but in those situations I can't, Cal. I want to, but I can't."

"Well you seemed to not care."

"Of course I care. It hurts my heart just to think she's sick, but what you did was uncalled for. I just hope the woman doesn't find someone else to take her daughter to after that. You made me look like a fool."

Callie closed her eyes and shook her head, as her wife laid the girl down to examine. "Just stop, okay. I get it, I'm a complete idiot." She rolled her eyes as she nervously chewed on her nail as the blonde retook her temp.

"I didn't say that, Callie. It's normal to be scared. You are her mother, you are suppose to worry. It's just you made me feel incompetent in front of a patient."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." She whispered as she listened to her baby's cries. "What's wrong with her?" She walked up to the bed and knelt down so she was beside the infants face hoping to drop the subject. She understood, she was in the wrong. "Shh.. don't cry baby, Mama will make it better." she said when she saw her daughters red tearstained face.

"I'm not sure." Arizona said reading the thermometer. "Her temp is still 100.3." She said, as she took the stethoscope from around her neck and listened her chest the same way Callie did. "Sounds a little wheezy." She said while she listened again.

"Oh god. It's not that whooping cough or anything is it?"

"No, she's had all the shots, and you and I had that shot too so that's not it."

"I promised her Arizona. I promised I'd help her when she's sick." She said as tears welled up in her eyes again. She couldn't stand seeing her like this.

"You promised to hold her and take care of her when she's sick, Calliope. You're doing that honey. There is nothing you can do, but let her ride this out." She said, thinking of a possibility to her daughters cries. Placing her finger in the infants mouth she ran her finger over her gums causing the crying to get a little harder. "I'll be right back." She looked up and told her wife.

"What? What is it?" Callie asked when the blonde walked out the door. "Shh.." Callie picked Charlee back up in her arms. "Mama's trying baby, just give her a minute." She cooed to her.

"Okay." Arizona hurried back in the room. "It's possible she has a small head cold, but I think it's something else." She said, feeding her daughter some liquid Tylenol through a dropper. "That'll help get that fever down."

"What do you think?" Callie watched as her wife tried to help their baby.

"I think our angel is growing up Mommy." She looked sadly at her wife.

"What do you mean?" She said, holding her daughter still.

"I think she's starting to teethe."

"But she's barely four months old." Callie said.

"I know, but some babies are born with teeth." She flinched, thinking about having to breast feed a baby with teeth. "I'd say she still has another month or two before she'll get her first tooth, but her gums seem to be bothering her right now." She said, opening a small medicine bottle she had retrieved out of the cabinet in the nurses station. "These should do wonders for her." She said taking the small pill out of the tube.

"What is that?"

"Teething tablets. I recommend them to all of the tiny guys." She said placing one in her daughters mouth. "They dissolve almost instantly."

"And that will help?" The brunette questioned. "I mean, that's all?"

"Oh yeah, helps almost immediately." Arizona said as the baby already was quietening down in her mommy's arms. "See." She said, rubbing the baby's belly. "Give her a few minutes she'll probably be sound asleep from all the crying." She said, taking her daughter from her wife.

"I'm sorry." She sighed, when Charlee's wails started to die down a little.

"It's okay." Arizona rubbed her wife's arm. "I'm use to seeing this with patients, so yeah, I'm more cool headed about it than you. There's nothing wrong with being upset."

"I just can't stand seeing her cry and knowing she's hurting." The brunette leaned over against her wife, relieved that the baby was quieting down.

"I know. I've seen parents panicking worse than you." She said, wrapping her arm around the brunettes back. "But I only find it cute when you do it."

"Shut up, I'm a monster when I'm worried."

"You're not, and worrying means you're a good mom. You reacted like most do. I'm know if I was at home I would have freaked out to you too, but when I'm in my environment here I don't like to panic. Which is a good thing because one of us needed to keep a level head today, next time it's on you."

"I'll try." She laughed, rubbing her daughters cheek with her index finger.

"Tell Mommy you're okay princess." Arizona said as the little girl let out a sigh. "See, she's okay Mom."

"Yeah."

"We'll need to check her temp again in a little while to see if the Tylenol is helping. I have one more patient and then we can go home if you're finished?"

"Yeah, I just have a few more papers to initial and I'm done."

"Okay, we'll stop by the pharmacy on the way home and get her some Tylenol and more teething tablets. We get them in samples and they only come with five in a bottle, sometimes babies can go through that in a day." She said, handing the baby back over to her wife. "She's okay, Cal."

"I know, it just sucks that I couldn't figure out what was bothering her."

"But you know now, that's all that matters."

"Yeah." She sighed. "I'll be ready in ten, just text me and let me know when you're finished down here."

"Kay, babe."

"You mad at me?" The brunette asked quietly. She knew how her wife took her job seriously and hated for anything to happen unprofessional in front of her patients.

"Nope. I can't ever stay mad at you." She winked. "Just don't let it happen again."

"I'll try." She said, dressing the baby again. "Love?"

"Of course." She walked over to her wife and daughter. "Love." She kissed her cheek and placed one on the little Latina's head. "Love you too, baby girl."
