Fitz lay back in their bed enjoying that it smelled like Olivia. He pulled out the papers he had to finish grading and threw in some head phones after he realized he wasn't going to get very far listening to Abby's exclamations of "oh my god" usually quickly followed by "oh my fucking god!" Almost as soon as he got comfortable Zorro crawled into his lap and made himself at home. He had never really been around cats and at first didn't really see the appeal but knowing how much Olivia loved the fuzzy little creature he quickly grew on Fitz as well. He settled himself in for the long hall knowing how long it would take Her to explain everything that she'd been through in the last four years, really what she had been through all her life.
In the kitchen Olivia say across from Abby as they both took long gulps of the wine they'd poured earlier. Abby had taken things surprisingly well and Olivia quickly moved from the awfulness of Fitz being shot and everything that proceeded from there to their tattoos and the choice to buy a house together. Abby laughed and relaxed as Olivia recounted her version of Fitz's face when get realized the truck was his and the hungry realtor. When she finally finished catching Abby up to spread she gave a long exhaled and drained the test if her glass. Abby's face suddenly turned serious,
"I just have to know one thing," she said, "why did you tell me now? I know how important it is to keep a secret, especially when you could have just said Fitz is a closet republican."
"I just can't deal with all the lies anymore. You and Fitz are really all I have here. My only piece of normal and as much as I wanted to keep that I felt I owed you more than that. Besides I don't think you'd drop it if you found out Fitz was a republican. I know how much you hate them." Olivia told her honestly. Hoping that she could maintain their normal.
Abby nodded in understanding. She wouldn't say that she wasn't freaked out or a little scared, but when she said over a cliff she meant it. Olivia had been there when no one else was and that wasn't something that Abby would ever forget.
"Okay well since your naked weekend was interrupted by bullets and family and general psychosis do you and Fitz still want to go to the Hitchcock marathon tonight?" Abby asked knowing full well that most of Olivia and Fitz's time was spent in various stages of undress. She didn't want to push or accidentally see anything she wasn't supposed to, on the other hand, going out in a group was one of the only ways they could go on normal dates.
"Oh yeah no way Fitz would miss that. He will probably want to drive though so I assume he will pick up David and you and I can meet them at the cemetery? He's had blankets and stuff ready for weeks." Every year around Halloween there would be scary movie marathons at the oldest cemetery in Providence. Fitz went every year. Olivia had enough fear in her day-to-day life to enjoy horror movies, but she couldn't deny Fitz his tradition. Besides dark and crowded are pretty much ideal date situations for them. Still driving together was pushing it. The girls always met the guys just in case. David lives in Fitz's building and Abby lived right across the street so it wasn't ridiculous for them to all be seen together. David was a TA as well but lucky for his and Abby's relationship not for any of her classes.
"Okay Fitz can drive David in his caveman mobile and I'll pick you up say seven o'clock?" Olivia checked her watch and agreed realizing it would give her a couple hours to climb back into bed with Fitz as soon as Abby left.
Olivia saw Abby out the door and immediately made her way back to their bedroom. What she walked in on made laughter swell in her chest. Fitz was lying on his back, eyes shut, headphones blaring, and scratching Zorro's head, which was curled up on his chest. She didn't want too disturbed either one, but she was tempted to join him. She pulled off the clothes she'd thrown on in haste, when Abby had snuck up on them, and pulled back the covers softly as possible in an attempt not to alert him to her presence. She slid into her side and pulled out a headphone from his ear and placed it in his own. The laughter she was holding in finally burst when she heard Frank Sinatra blaring into her ear.
"Bee you're showing your age old man!" Olivia told him hovering over him. He immediately flipped them so that he was holding her down. Zorro gave them both an annoyed meow and hopped down, causing them both to laugh.
"You weren't complaining about how old I am earlier. Maybe you're just a youngin because you're Livvie, kid genius." Olivia had skipped two grades so at twenty-one she was younger than most college seniors. Fitz on the other hand had been held back when his mother shot his father than spent four years in the navy after he graduated from high school, was much older. They often traded jokes back and fourth, especially when Olivia would point out that he was the same age as Michael. Usually it ended with her admitting she had a thing for older men and him giving her a wink and a smile that made him look much younger than his twenty-eight years. The song playing quickly changed to Ego by Beyoncé and Fitz smile grew even larger.
He was constantly playing little tricks on her. About a month ago he changed her ringtone to Ego, made sure it was on and called her during his class. She was so embarrassed it took her a while to realize it was her phone so the entire lecture hall heard Beyoncé belting out 'it's too big, to wide, to strong!' While Fitz kept a straight face and Abby said 'lucky girl'. She didn't speak to either of them for the rest of the day, especially when she realized it had been Fitz that she had the missed call from, but now whenever she heard the song she can't help but burst into giggles while simultaneously get turned on thinking of Fitz and how accurate the song was.
By time their mouths connected both had lost their headphones but it didn't matter. Their tongues battled for dominance and Fitz pressed himself into Olivia. She groaned and submitted to him. By time they were both gasping and holding on to each other sweating forms it was almost time to meet David and Abby. Too wrapped up in each other to separate they headed for the shower together.
Olivia was sitting on top of the bathroom sink wrapped in a towel watching Fitz shave while she applied lotion to her still damp skin. Fitz was doing his best not to nick himself but when she bent over to get her legs he couldn't help but let his eyes wander. He didn't even notice he was bleeding until he felt Olivia reach up and dab his cheek with her towel. Standing there in his boxers Fitz knew they would never leave if she didn't stop looking at him like that.
"Livvie..." He said warningly, but losing his resolve.
"Yes bee?"
"Hitchcock," was all he could get out thanks to her tone of voice.
"I'm really only interested in your cock Fitz."
"Olivia Carolyn Pope!?" He couldn't believe those words had come out of her mouth, sure they had engaged in plenty of dirty talk, but sitting there in a towel running her hands up and down her long legs, it took her words to a whole new level.
It only took about two seconds for Fitz to have her legs wrapped around his waist and her towel on the floor. Her hands were on the waistband of his boxers. They were so close to finding their bliss. Before Olivia was able to get him naked they both heard Abby banging on the door. Olivia groaned and put her head to Fitz's chest.
"Abby is my version of a cold shower I swear." Olivia complained. Fitz rubbed her back knowing exactly how she was feeling. Olivia moved across the bathroom gloriously naked and pulled on her silk robe. Fitz had bought it for her and he loved her in it almost as much as he loved her out of it. He groaned as she moved out of the bathroom and pinched his ass.
Still in her robe she went and opened the door for Abby who was holding a basket in front of her.
"I guess I know why you didn't use your key this time..." Olivia said taking the basket from her and putting it on the table.
"Yeah like a little gun would scare me off?" Abby rolled her eyes and made herself comfortable on the couch. Laughing Olivia made her way back to her room to throw on the outfit she had picked out earlier. She threw on a pair of black leggings and an oversized cream-colored cable knit sweater Claudia had bought her last Christmas. Her hair went up into a messy bun and she applied a swipe of mascara.
By time she was done she met Fitz and Abby out in the living room. Abby was asking to see his scar and he was trying to bargain to get first crack at whatever baked goods she had in the basket.
"We better get going if we want to get a good spot." Fitz said no longer looking at the basket but at Olivia's ass in her leggings. He pulled her into his side for a brief goodbye kiss but quickly got distracted when her hand found it's way into the front pockets of his jeans.
"Alright Liv he's going to get David not going off to war. Don't make me get a hose." Abby complained though really she was used to their antics she didn't miss a chance to pick on Olivia.
By the time the three of them separated, Fitz heading to his truck with a broad grin, Abby and Olivia piling into Abby's silver Mercedes E class coupe, they were running a bit later than intended but would still arrive before the movie marathon. Strangers on a Train was playing first and it was Fitz's favorite. There was no way she wanted them to miss it.
Abby and Olivia arrived first so they immediately went to scope out a spot, they saw a few kids from class and made a b line in the other direction. For such a big school it really was ridiculous how often they ran into classmates. Olivia was listening to Abby obsess over Law school acceptance and various programs and silently thanked god both she and Fitz no longer had to worry about it. Both had been accepted to Brown for law school and were perfectly happy to stay in Providence together.
She texted Fitz to tell him where they'd found their spot and got an alert telling her they had arrived and were on their way to them. Ten minutes later when neither had shown up Olivia got nervous. She hadn't heard any commotion or gotten any messages but fear still gripped her. Telling Abby that she was worried they might need help carrying everything, though she didn't really specify what everything was since she and Abby had brought blankets and the basket, she set off towards the parking lot.
She saw Fitz's truck and breathed a sigh of relief when she heard David's voice. He was talking to a few fellow students with Fitz standing next to him looking bored and ready to sit down. She hesitated before making her way over knowing that it might cause questions but she didn't want his night to be ruined by David's loud mouth and whatever kiss ass he was talking to. By time Olivia got closer she realized the kiss ass was the member of Fitz's fan club. She was a student in the class and she lived in the same building. Olivia never really cared for the girl but that only intensified when she realized how calculating the she was.
At the beginning of the semester Olivia was sneaking into Fitz's office when she heard hushed angry voices coming from Dr. Beane's office. She briefly stood outside listening in, a habit of her from living with her father, and immediately realized she was trying to blackmail him because she found out he's gay. He quickly set her straight and Olivia went off to find Fitz, but she kept the knowledge of how ruthless Mellie Holden is.
Upon realizing it was Mellie they were talking to she tried to escape, but Fitz had already noticed her and Mellie quickly noticed she had lost the little attention he had spared her.
"Hey Abby was worried you guys got ax murdered or something, in the theme of the evening, so she sent me off to find you." Olivia said mostly trying to direct her comment to David to silently remind Fitz to behave.
"We were just talking about the second amendment, it's a shame Abby didn't come herself. I'm sure her and Mellie could find they share a common bond." David told Olivia trying to make it clear he wasn't flirting with Mellie. He was afraid of her and wisely so, but Olivia knew better. Mellie had her eyes on Fitz.
"And Fitz here didn't have a single thing to add even though he's pretty much teaching the class we have the assignment in!" Mellie said pretending to be flabbergasted. Really she would have talked to Fitz about linoleum if he would give her the time of day, but ever since Olivia told him what she had tried to do the thought of her sickened him.
"If I remember correctly, Olivia, you already turned your paper in, personally I thought the comparison on guns that were used then and used now tied in nicely with laws that have had to be updated with the times." Fitz said looking at Olivia. She really hadn't turned in her paper yet but she had been working on the rough draft on and off the last few days and already knew that's what she would write. Mellie on the other hand took the opposite approach, but Fitz hasn't been paying enough attention to catch the specifics of the conversation though so he didn't realize that wasn't the best way to halt the conversation.
"I guess that means you and I will be on different sides of the debate again. You're olive right?" Mellie asked though she was entirely aware of who Olivia was. Cyrus's class consisted of a week of lecture in which the students would also be assigned a short paper on the topic once the papers were turned in he would have the students debate the topic. Olivia and Mellie were almost always on opposite sides. Though Olivia was apolitical, Cyrus made her chose a side and every time she was across from Mellie a jolt of pride ran through her.
"It's Olivia." Olivia replied politely. She saw that Fitz was getting angry and decided to end the conversation before things got obvious. "Well we better find Abby before she sends out a search party. Nice talking to you Mellie." Olivia was tempted to call her Millie, but thought it best not to poke the sleeping lion, at least not in such a juvenile way. The debates were another story. Olivia would happily hand her own ass. Mellie was a formidable but she wasn't THE formidable Olivia Pope.
On the way back to Abby David, as unobservant as ever, started talking about how odd that whole conversation was. How Mellie had really never spoken to him before, but tonight she seemed determine to talk to him. He chalked it up to wanting advice on her paper. Fitz smirked at his arrogance and gave Olivia a look to make sure she was okay. Olivia gave him a slight smile as they made their way back.
Once they were all settled Olivia and Fitz sat as far apart as they could, at least until it got darker. Soon it would be pitch black and no classmates were in sight they would be free to be themselves again.
David continuing to be oblivious caught Abby up on what kept them busy for so long, Abby didn't know how manipulative Mellie was because of any specific anecdote but still disliked the woman anyway.
"Yeah I saw her earlier when we were coming in. She was kind of hard to miss. She was dressed to go to a business meeting or some shit." Abby was right. While most people there were dressed casually in hoodies or jeans, some even in pajamas Mellie was wearing skinny jeans with kitten heels and a powder blue high neck blouse with her customary string of pearls around her neck. Olivia thought she looked nice really, though clearly over dressed, she didn't mention that to Abby. She just let her rant.
The conversation had quickly switched from Mellie to a debate about which Hitchcock movie was the best, for which Fitz was thankful. Mellie had been a huge source of trouble in his relationship. She made her interest in Fitz clear though he never really understood why, they barely knew each other. While he loved Olivia's jealous side he quickly realized that his tire iron-wielding girlfriend wouldn't be putting up with any of Mellie's shit.
It seemed like every time Olivia was at Fitz's building Mellie made herself known which led them to spend more time at Olivia's at first because she was a pain in the ass, than later because they didn't want to arouse suspicion. He didn't mind being at Olivia's. He loved being surrounded by her books and scent but it bothered him that his girlfriend couldn't feel safe at his apartment.
He was more than grateful that Olivia had decided to live with him and couldn't wait for them to find a house. He did some searching online for a house that she had described and he suspected he found it, but he wanted to make sure Olivia liked it as much as he did before he got his hopes up.
He was finally taken away from his thoughts when he heard his name being called.
"Sorry Livvie I zoned out. What did you say?" She gave him a concerned look, she rarely had to repeat herself with him, but continued.
"I said do you want some popcorn? There's a stand over there selling kettle corn." She gestured off to the opposite direction of where they came from.
"You're going to eat popcorn without wine Liv?" Olivia claimed wine and popcorn were like peanut better and jelly, meant to be together. She and Abby laughed and pulled out a bottle of red wine from the basket and plastic cups. Fitz chuckled, Olivia was usually so fussy with wine he couldn't imagine her drinking out of a plastic glass and he wasn't going to miss the chance.
"One giant bucket of popcorn coming up." He gave her a wink, regretting not being able to kiss her or grabbed her hand and holds it while they walked to get the popcorn.
Fitz made it back over and noticed that the three of them weren't alone. Cyrus was standing there next to a young nerdy looking guy, Fitz recognized from photos on his desk. Fitz walked over and clapped him on the back with his free hand.
"Hey Cy, didn't think we'd see you here." Cyrus rarely did anything if there wasn't a political spin to it.
"James brought me over. James Fitz, Fitz James." He introduced them casually. The men shook hands and he invited them to sit down. James seemed content to join them but Cyrus was hesitant.
"Come on Cy were off the clock and I've got your favorite." Olivia pointed to the wine bottle. Cyrus lost his hesitation and say down with them.
"Oh Liv I know I can always count on you. Although I'm shocked you're here." He gave her a knowing look as Fitz took advantage of the crowded blanket and sat close to Olivia. She subconsciously leaned into him and Cyrus smiled broadly at them.
Sure if anyone found out about them he would save his own ass and throw them under the bus, meanwhile there was no denying they'd found their match in each other. "Just a few more weeks left guys." Cyrus said and they realized how close together they were sitting. They both sat up a little straighter both looking regretful. Olivia shoved popcorn in her mouth and kept sipping her wine.
"Wait Professor Beane you know?" David asked him shocked that he would condone what Olivia and Fitz were doing.
"Cyrus caught Fitz mounting Liv on his desk a few weeks into the semester. He's been grading all of Liv's work since, not that he needs to." Abby explained to him. Liv was always an excellent student particularly in classes where they were graded on formulation of an argument and a sound opinion.
"That's kind if you sir." David told him, he was always trying to be the nice guy and kiss ass, he was smart, but nothing special, Cyrus knew this. Still he appreciated the effort and it never hurt to have one if the good guys running around. Cyrus shrugged and began to refocus on his wine.
"Liv is my best student, no offense Fitz," who simply had a look of pride on his face, "I don't see any good reason to get on her bad side, assuming they keep things on the down low, all though the matching tattoos aren't helped by the longing gazes." Liv pulled her sleeve down surprised that he'd even noticed. It was nearly dark but really things never got passed Cyrus if he wanted to see it.
"Yeah you guys probably could have waited the six weeks." Abby said laughing as they both looked guilty but unashamed.
"You make me wear a dress shirt when I teach anyway it's October. Not much need to wear short sleeves. Besides you're the only Sherlock Holmes I know." Fitz told him as he defended their choice. He wouldn't let anyone make him or Olivia feel bad for wanting to get an expression of their love.
"Besides I don't believe in marriage so this is the best guarantee of permanence I could give the poor guy without getting jewelry involved." Olivia joked following Fitz's lead she noticed as James and David both widened their eyes but Fitz and Abby were used to her rants about how a piece of paper doesn't make a commitment. Fitz was hoping he could change her mind. Olivia Grant had such a nice ring to it, but he figured he had enough time.
It was finally dark enough that most peoples figured were obscured, there was an announcement that the movie was going to begin. Fitz and Olivia made themselves comfortable. Fitz leaned back against one of the headstones and Olivia sat between his legs letting her head rest on his chest right under his chin. They moved together as one unit getting comfortable in their embrace. Abby and David were sitting in a similar fashion but some how it seemed more forced, more awkward. David was trying to engage Cyrus I'm his law school choices but Cyrus was taking every opportunity to talk to James and ignore him. Abby was playing on her phone leaving Olivia and Fitz in their own little world, as per usual.
They were talking about getting his truck converted to biodiesel or if they should just get a more conventional car in addition to the two they already had. Olivia was a proponent for both, but her definition of a traditional car was a little skewed Fitz realized when he suggested and hybrid escape and she suggested going to the Barrett Jackson auction for Christmas. They both laughed and decided to compromise and do some looking when they had an actual garage to put it in.
