On the plane Fitz held Olivia's hand through the flight, partially because he knew she was afraid of planes and partially because he was still confused and feeling and scared of what the next few hours and days would bring for them. Olivia had relaxed into her seat, she was holding the diary of Sylvia Plath reading to try and calm her nerves, when she felt Fitz's hand grab hers.

"Oh god, what about Cammie?" Fitz exclaimed suddenly realizing that Scarlett would effect more than just him and Olivia.

"What about her?"

"She's eighteen she didn't sign on to live with a young child."

"She will be living half a mile away from a child in another house. And if she's still uncomfortable she can get an apartment nearby. It's not a big deal. There's plenty of time for her to make up her mind. She's not moving until June. Six months is plenty." She tried to comfort him. Cammie loved kids, even more than Olivia, in reality Cammie would probably steal Scarlett for play dates.

"We still made her promises Liv, this is, and it's so much." Fitz said defeated. He didn't know what to do or how to feel. He wanted to be thrilled to finally have family, but he felt that would make his connection with Olivia's family seem secondary when it wasn't. It was so important to him. He wanted to be scared to have a child depend on him, but he was excited to read to her and take her on the boat of course he'd have to wrap her up in as many life jackets he could find of course.

Olivia sensed his fear and pulled up the armrest between them so she could lay her head on his arm and warped her arms around him.

"We will handle this. Whatever comes our way we will handle it." She promised him. On the way off the plane Olivia quickly called Quinn and found out that she and Scarlett were staying in Kim's house, they would be waiting for her and Fitz to arrive. They quickly made arrangements to rent a car, plugged the address into the GPS and were on their way.

Olivia was driving, despite Fitz's hesitation about Olivia's dangerous driving habits, he was too nervous to drive himself. She reached for his hand over the shifter of the car and he immediately clutched on to it like a life preserver.

"No matter what we decide with Scarlett everything going to change now isn't it?"

"No. Bee, no matter what happens something's won't ever change. Things between us will not change. When we go to bed every night I'll tell you about the book I'm reading and when we wake up we will take a shower together and you'll tell me about your plans for the day. Were going to move into our big beautiful house and maybe it'll have an extra person in it and it'll mean we can't watch Game of Thrones on the couch or walk around half dressed, but the things that makes us us won't ever change." He looked at her shocked by her declaration.

Olivia usually only used her power of speech to destroy opponents, it took him a while to learn but he realized Olivia would never express her love for him verbally. Not like he did, but her words were everything he needed to hear in that moment.

"I love you Livvie."

"I love you too bee." She affirmed and gave his hand a squeeze.

Kim's home wasn't far from the airport and they had arrived sooner than either would have preferred.

"So Livvie are you excited to be in the Capitol?" Fitz asked trying to distract them from what they were really doing.

"Yeah I never really thought I would be here unless dad or Michael got pinched on Rico charges." Her words were supposed to be funny, but the reality of the situation stung. Even if they were taking in an orphaned child, would their lives be safe for her? Or would she always be exposed to danger. Olivia wouldn't let Scarlett or her own children see what she saw growing up, but she also knew that you can only hide so much from a child.

"Maybe we should take her and run. I hear Greece is nice this time of year." Olivia said half serious.

"It'll be okay." It was the first time Fitz had said it. It was the first time he believed it, even if only a little part of him did. They got out of their rental and Fitz made pointless efforts to straighten the pants he'd worn all day. She could tell he was nervous, instead of his usual outfit of well-worn jeans a t-shirt and his leather jacket, he'd worn khaki colored dress pants and a cashmere sweater. She couldn't deny he looked handsome, but she knew he was trying to look older, more responsible. Capable of caring for a child. Olivia too had chosen to lose her usual loungewear for skinny jeans, black ankle boots, and a cream colored off the shoulder sweater. She caught a glimpse of herself and immediately the thought that she would be parenting a child hit her.

Already she looked younger than her 21 years, most people thought she was a freshman at school, but the fear on her face struck her. She looked the same as when she left for Rhode Island the first time. Young, scared, but at least this time she wasn't alone. Fitz looked terrified, and in that moment she declared she would be there for him like he had for her. She would be the strong one for now. Soon they would go back to being partners, equals, but today he needed her to take the lead.

Walking toward him and grabbing his hand she led him slowly to the front door. He gave her a helpless look and she rang the doorbell. They could hear people moving around inside and the door opened. Both Olivia and Fitz stopped breathing as they looked down at the little girl. Despite all she had been through recently her eyes were wide and curious, bright and sweet like Fitz's.

"You must be my… Fitz. Q told me you were coming to meet me. Come in." The little girl spoke in the voice that was undoubtedly child like, but her words were that of an adult. Fitz silently followed her into the house. At a loss for words at what to tell her or say to her. It quickly occurred to him that he didn't know how much she knew about him.

"You're my brother right?" Scarlett asked him and he immediately felt relief, that certainly answered his unspoken question. She looked at Olivia for help, Olivia gave her a comforting smile.

"We have the same dad..." She continued as if trying to clarify things for him. When she still didn't get a response she turned to Olivia.

"You're Fitz's girlfriend?" Scarlett asked her and Olivia squeezed Fitz's hand.

"Yep. It's nice to meet you." Olivia told her gently, but tried not to sound condescending. She could tell the last thing this little girl needed or was used to was being treated like a child.

"You too. I'll go get Q." She gave Fitz one last slightly exasperated look and walked down the hall.

"You have to talk to her." Olivia told him gently, understanding his apprehension, but she knew Scarlett had to be more scared than he was.

"She looks so much like Dad. She even talks like him, and I swear that little look she gave me when she left. I got that look so many times. That you can't possibly be that stupid look. That's all dad."

"She's smart. Must have gotten that from you." She elbowed him.

"What do I say to her?" He asked. As much as it shocked him to see this little person walking around with his father's mannerisms, it also reminded him that his dad was an ass. He may not have murdered anyone but he always made Fitz feel like an inconvenience. He would have to severe the connections between Scarlett and his father.

"Just start with Hi." He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her into him. They stayed like that until they heard Quinn and Scarlett walking back into the room. Fitz immediately made eye contact with his sister and said,

"Hi."

"Hi..." Scarlett said back again looking at Quinn and Olivia since they seemed to be the only adults behaving rationally. When Olivia saw the girls face she immediately snorted and made that little smirk. Three pairs of eyes looked at her curiously.

"Fitz makes the exact same face at me when he's annoyed or thinks I'm doing something weird." Olivia explained and suddenly the tension and awkwardness went out of the room. Quinn introduced herself and invited them into the living room. Fitz sat down on the couch and Olivia was pulled down next to him. He hadn't let go since. Quinn sat down in an armchair and Scarlett sat in her lap.

"Scarlett what do you know about, uhm, me?" Fitz asked softly trying to make his voice more approachable to a child.

"Well I know we have the same Dad, but he died before I was born. My mom told me you were in the navy and that now you're in school learning to be a lawyer. She said you didn't know about me because I didn't come around the normal way, that I was her little miracle." Scarlett faltered and they could see the scared girl for the first time. Quinn wrapped her arms around her just a little but tighter. "This was our house, but now Moms in heaven with our Dad. She was really sick, but now it's better because she's not sick anymore. I'm still sad though." Scarlett told them succinctly, "Quinn told me that Mom wanted you to know me and that since you're my only family that I'm yours now, but I don't really know what that means." Fitz listened broken hearted as the little girl rambled.

"I think it means that if you want you can come to Rhode Island and live with me and Liv." Fitz told her trying to give her answers to questions he had also. Scarlett immediately looked scared. "But I think maybe we should get to know each other first." She calmed down a bit.

"Do you want to see my room?" She asked and he hopped up and said,

"Of course." She held out her tiny hand for him and together they went around the corner and they headed upstairs leaving Quinn and Olivia to talk.
