"Were going to head to the bedding and stuff." Olivia told Fitz not really paying attention to him as she and Scarlett ran off hand and hand. He laughed to himself, shook his head, and made his way over to get a few plain white brooks brother's shirts in his size and a gray and blue striped tie he thought Olivia would like. She was always picking on him for his tie choices claiming they were busy and distracting. More than once she had snatched them off his neck. He made his way around the store picking up a few things he didn't realize he needed. Calvin Klein boxers and undershirts, Olivia was constantly taking his only to have them disappear. He wandered around grabbing things he liked as well as anything he thought Olivia might like, ignoring the knowledge that once she saw his armful she would be upset with him for 'spoiling' her. In his mind getting to see her in and more specifically out of the things he'd chosen for her was intimate. She was always buying him a sweater or dress shirt she thought he'd like, but when the shoe was on the other foot she fretted over the extravagance. Eventually she loved everything he got her anyway, so he was never deterred.
He made his way into the shoes and purses, than went back up stairs to lingerie. His arms were full of bags when he finally made his way back over to where Olivia and Scarlett had seemed to make themselves several purchases as well.
Olivia had several stacks around her. Apparently they had made their way over to the kids section because he saw plenty of clothes as well as some bedding he assumed Scarlett had picked out because it was bright orange and pink, definitely not something that Olivia would chose.
"You realize that won't fit in your carry on right Livvie?" He said as he snuck up behind them.
"And that will?" She looked at the bags in his hands with a raised eyebrow and he shrugged guiltily.
"Obviously we are single handedly keeping FedEx and Bloomingdales in business." He told her smiling broadly.
After finishing up at the register, Olivia had ordered bedding for the rooms they would need for her family as well as letting Scarlett pick out her own for her bedroom, most would be sent to the house.
They had taken Kim's car because it already had Scarlett's booster seat in it, her Lexus sedan had plenty of room for the three of them on the way to the store, but the way back was a stretch.
Poor Scarlett was squeezed between bags while she listened to Fitz and Olivia argue over the radio.
"Livvie you can't play Beyoncé when we aren't alone!" Fitz said appalled as she sits in the passenger seat dancing and ignoring his protests. She knew she was torturing him, but was enjoying watching him squirm.
"What do you want to listen to Bee?" She asked innocently.
"Anything else!" She switched to Meg Myers and he glared at her.
"You're going to get it Livvie!" He whispered to her, not at all threatening.
"Then I got exactly what I wanted." She smirked as she turned on something less sexually charged.
Together they got the bags into the house, Fitz warned Olivia not to look at any of them until he got back. He went in and changed into his new shirt and rushed off to meet Quinn.
"Love you Livvie, I'll be right back. Call me if you need anything." He pulled her into his arms and kissed her neck. He wasn't sure how to say goodbye to Scarlett. Should he hug her? Tell her he loves her? Just nod in her general direction? Hi five? She too stood there awkwardly. Olivia sensed his hesitation while she was still in his arms and pulled back a little only to put an arm out to pull in Scarlett. The three of them sat in a group hug; while Fitz looked at Olivia silently thanking her for knowing what he was thinking and helping him.
While he made his way to the offices, Olivia and Scarlett went into her room and packed up what Scarlett wanted to take to Rhode Island. By time everything was deprecated and they began packing both were exhausted. Fitz was sill with Quinn so they decided to take a break. Almost as soon as they sat down on the couch both fell asleep snuggled together.
Fitz found them like that an hour later when he got back from meeting with Quinn. He was physically and emotionally exhausted, he could only imagine how tired Scarlett and Olivia must be. Quietly he snuck into Scarlett's room to finish packing.
He had made a good dent and figured they wouldn't have too much more to bring, he was about to head down to wake them when he heard barks and laughter coming from the backyard. When he wandered out to meet them, he found Olivia and Scarlett playing tug of war with an oversized dog. On all fours his head was level with Scarlett's and Fitz was fairly certain on his hind legs he would tower over Olivia. He knew they had a new pet before Olivia even noticed his presence.
"Livvie we can't take a stray dog on a plane!" Fitz tried to plead with her. Like Zorro Liv had found herself attached to a dog wandering around the neighborhood.
"He's not a stray, he's just... Between homes!" She told him firmly. "You were the one that wanted a big yard for a dog and now we've got one!" The giant mutt was sprawled across the couch with his head in her lap. He was protective and very fond of Olivia and Scarlett seemed to like him, but it was clear he was a stray. He had no tags, when Olivia and Scarlett found him he was dirty and boney. Though it seemed in only a few hours Olivia had managed to fatten him up some.
"I'm sorry, Livvie, I am but to bring him home with us we would have to have papers and stuff from a vet. Maybe we can bring him to Quinn and see if she knows anyone that wants a dog."
"We could drive home. It's only a few hours!" She was begging. Olivia Pope didn't beg.
"Livvie come on you know I can't say no when you make that face and you know we can't take a seven year old and Clifford here in a ten hour car trip."
"Fitz look at his face. Can you really tell me I have to leave him here?"
Fitz looked at the dogs face and could easily imagine himself leaving the big slobbering mess. He was protective over Olivia and gave him looks anytime he went near her. Looking at Olivia's face however was another story. There's no way he could say no.
"If we take a private plane Cujo can come home with us." Fitz said defeated.
Olivia jumped off the couch and plowed into him.
"Thank you Bee! Thank you thank you thank you!" She warped herself around him and peppered his face with kisses. She didn't stop until they heard Scarlett coming down the stairs. She took Olivia's spot on the couch and the dog placed his head in her lap as he had with Olivia's.
"Do we get to keep him?"
"Yes!" Olivia told her excitedly and Fitz rolled his eyes. Between his two girls they would be running a petting zoo out of their house.
"Don't most little girls want a puppy?" Fitz asked her.
"Are you offering?" She told him sassily. Olivia snorted and Fitz looked at her.
"You're clearly a bad influence." Olivia looked a little proud.
"Okay we just need to call Abby and have her get dog food and stuff for the big guy! Speaking of which he needs a name so Fitz will stop calling him Clifford and Cujo." She told Scarlett giving Fitz a smirk. She knew he was vaguely jealous of the dog or rather the dog was jealous of him and it didn't endear Fitz to him at all.
"What are you going to name him Livvie?" Scarlett had taken to calling Olivia Livvie the more time they spent together.
"I think you should name him." Olivia told Scarlett kindly, hoping she didn't pick anything annoying or cutesy.
"Hmm he kind of looks like Sirius Black doesn't he?" She looked at the over sized shaggy dog. He had dark gray fur with white on his paws and chest but he did look a bit like the dog from Harry potter.
"Yeah he does actually, he's like the Boo Radley of dogs." Fitz pointed out still making at face at the dog.
"Is that what you want to name him than?"
"Nah I don't think so. Even though he looks like Sirius, I like Boo though, can I name him that?"
"Of course sweets. You can name him whatever you want!" Olivia told her again. The child was still cautious with them. She hoped she would get more comfortable with time.
"Okay I think Boo Radley is his name." Scarlett said nodding her head once.
Olivia was thrilled; To Kill A Mockingbird was her favorite book. She had no idea if Scarlett actually knew who Boo Radley was but she thought it was perfect nonetheless.
"Hey there Boo. Hey boy. Do you like that name baby?" Olivia was cooing at the oversized monster. Fitz thought he looked more like Lupin as a werewolf than Sirius as a dog anyway. The dog looked up at Olivia and seemed to give a noise of approval before letting him head land back in Scarlett's lap, which was definitely too small for him. Fitz had to laugh; both his girls were looking at Boo like he was perfect. It was the first time the sadness had left Scarlett's eyes and Olivia grinning like a mad women. To see that happen he would charter a private jet every day of the week.
As Fitz moved out to make arrangements for the plane Olivia called Abby to give her the update and make sure there weren't any problems. Something in her gut told her to make sure everything was in order before they brought Scarlett home.
"Hello?" she heard her brother's voice answer the phone and looked at the screen to double check that she had the right number.
"What happened?" Olivia said exasperated and concerned for Abby when she realized she did dial the right number, meaning Michael was in Rhode Island.
"No Hi, Hello, How are you?"
"Hi, Hello, How are you! What happened?" She demanded.
"Its not a big deal, well it is, but we can handle it…" Michael rambled on.
"Michael! Just tell me."
"The gun is gone."
"What gun? Wait my gun? That means…"
"That means someone broke in, someone has access to the apartment. Which isn't a big concern because you're moving and that house will be Fort Knox by time Huck and Harrison get done with it."
"Abby didn't tell you? God she really is a gladiator. I know this is a face to face conversation, but Fitz found out recently as in the last two days that he has a younger sister, who's mother just passed making her an orphan. Fitz assumed physical and legal custody of her today. We are bringing her home with us. That's why Abby was looking for the gun in the first place. Why I'm assuming she called you. Because its not just me and Fitz anymore, there's a seven year old involved."
"Olly, come home, come home now. We don't know if they followed you. You guys aren't safe. I will have a private plane sent to pick you up."
"Fitz is already called for one, I'll have him move up the time table. The rest of Scarlett's, that's her name, Scarlett… the rest of her things can be sent later. We will be home as soon as possible." Olivia quickly said her goodbyes to Michael and thanked Abby for keeping her confidence, that girl really was an over a cliff type of gladiator.
She sat in the back room thinking of any possible way to tell Fitz to ease the news she had to give him. There wasn't. Calling his name and asking him to come talk to her, already revealed that something had happened. He could tell that no one was seriously injured or dead, but he knew that something huge had just happened.
"We have to go home now. Michael, Huck, well everyone is at our apartment. Someone took my gun, we don't know when or how, but we know that we aren't safe, people are still looking for me. The house is safe and for now the apartment is also with everyone and a lot of fire power there, but we aren't safe here." She told him as straightforwardly as she could muster.
"Okay, I'll make the call." He said as he turned and walked out of the room without looking back at her.
