Sorry about the double update guys, major shout out to Leeann993 and Oceans00711girl for letting me know! This is the correct update, ENJOY!
The room cleared out and Olivia finally got some sleep, enough to allow her to shake off the rest of the anesthesia. Also leaving Cammie, Claudia, and Olivia alone for the first time all day.
"I'm glad you sent Fitz home, he needs some rest. He lost it when they wouldn't let him in the room. I can still see him sitting on the floor freaking out about you having a miscarriage." Claudia told them, Cammie looked up paying attention, as Olivia looked shocked.
"You didn't know?" She asked Olivia.
"But I wasn't... I didn't..." She said almost as if she was checking to make sure.
"He thought you being nauseous and sick all day then passing out only meant one thing. He was a wreck. Convinced he lost you and his child. I thought he would have told you."
"He probably just didn't want to bring it up." Olivia said trying to cover for the fact that she was now thinking Fitz still isn't one hundred percent certain that she's in this with him. Before Claudia could call her out on it she heard the one sound that was guaranteed to make her feel worse then surgery.
"Olivia Baby!" Olivia's eyes shot open hoping she was dreaming. There's no way this was happening right now. She shot daggers at Claudia and Cammie who both gave her an 'it wasn't me' look.
"She's in here mom." Claudia got up and stuck her head out the door to find Maya wandering around the halls making a scene.
"Oh baby is you okay? I was so worried when Fitz called and said you were having surgery! You're so thick headed! How could you let yourself be sick for that long! And how did no one notice?" She looked accusingly at Claudia who rolled her eyes at her theatrics.
When Olivia was thirteen and had her tonsils removed Maya dropped her off at her mother's house and went to Capri with her sister. Maya wasn't interested in nursing her children back to health. The idea that she was wildly concerned now that Olivia was an adult was absurd.
"I'm fine mom. They're going to send me home tomorrow." Olivia said, attempting to keep the annoyed tone out of her voice. She succeeded as far as her voice was concerned but her face clearly indicated that Fitz would get an ear full when he came back.
After insisting Olivia needed more blankets and paging the nurse twice she finally left to check into the hotel. There were plenty of rooms in the house, but Maya didn't know about Scarlett yet, so they didn't want to send her there.
"Okay who the fuck was that and where is Maya Pope?" Claudia said as soon as Maya left the room.
"I have no idea, but I'm going to kill Fitz." Olivia told them as she flopped back on to the now fluffed pillows, thanks to Maya.
"Why are you killing me?" Fitz walked in carrying a bag Olivia assumed was filled with the clothes she requested, in his arms was a giant stuffed elephant bigger than Scarlett, and a bag from Barnes and Noble.
"I assume you didn't pass my mother on the way in?"
"She came?"
"You called her! What did you expect?" He shrugged his shoulders and handed her the elephant, which quickly swamped the bed. It smelled like Fitz, so she immediately curled around it.
"Honestly I wasn't really sure, I just thought she should know and I was the only one at the hospital at the time, so I called." He told her sheepishly. Last night is kind of a blur to him; he certainly doesn't remember Maya saying she was coming.
"If that bag is for me, I'll forgive you." Olivia said motioning towards the Barnes and Noble bag on his arm.
"You're too easy." Claudia said rolling her eyes, causing Cammie to laugh. Olivia didn't ever stay mad at Fitz for long, not when he gave her the puppy dog eyes, and especially not when he was carrying a bag of books.
"Why don't you guys get some rest, Ill keep the patient entertained." Fitz told them, knowing them must be as exhausted as he was. He went home, carried a sleeping Scarlett to her bed and passed out on the couch in the library shortly after, he couldn't bring himself to go back to their bedroom alone.
He made an effort to get to Olivia but was blocked by the elephant, when he finally caught her attention she placed the elephant on the chair by her bed, it took up the entire chair.
"Hi."
"Hi." As they stared at each other smiling, Claudia and Cammie got up,
"Okay we are getting out of here before things start getting pelvic." Claudia said laughing as she walked out of the door with Cammie in tow.
"So." Olivia looked at him expectantly once everyone was out of the room. Fitz immediately knew what she was fishing for but he had no intention of giving up so quickly.
"So." Fitz relied with a smirk, as he started untying his boots. Fitz pulled up the gym bag he brought, in it he had a pair of blue pajama bottoms and his navy shirt for him once he laid out his clothes he pulled out a new pair of La Perla silk cream colored pajama bottoms with a matching cami, then an oversized sweater in black.
"You're not messing around." Olivia laughed as she looked at the clothes with tags he pulled out for her, "You know I have draws filled with pajamas you could have brought me." He kissed her forehead.
"Just say thank you Livvie."
"I'll say thank you if this isn't the only thing you picked up from La Perla." Fitz laughed at her knowing him so well, even from a hospital bed, exhausted, Olivia Pope was still the sexiest woman he had ever seen.
"Hmm maybe you'll have some stuff for when you get home."
"Fine." Olivia pouted, causing him to smile and kiss her pursed lips.
He changed into the clothes he brought and helped her into hers; they quickly snuggled into the small bed together. Fitz wrapped his arms around her small frame she rested her head on his chest. After laying in comfortable silence for a while Olivia finally spoke up.
"Bee?"
"Hmm?"
"How come you didn't tell me you thought we were pregnant?" She asked looking up at him from her spot under his arm. He loved that she said we and not I.
"I didn't really have time, and honestly I didn't know how you felt, or how I should feel. They wouldn't let me in your room or tell me anything, I just kind of freaked out."
"We have a lot going on right now, with the house and Scarlett and my family. Id like to finish law school and have a good starting point in my career and yours before we have babies."
"I know." He replied tonelessly.
"But if I was, I would be happy." Fitz looked surprised at her expression.
"Really?"
"The timing would be terrible, but I love you, were stable, we can afford a child, timing is always shitty, that's all you hear when someone gets pregnant, 'there couldn't be worse timing.' I'm sorry you had to go through that alone, thinking you lost a child."
"I love you too, I would love to have babies with you no matter when Livvie, you know that, you don't have to keep apologizing for getting sick, I should apologize for all the stress."
"Stress didn't rupture my appendix, and don't call my little sweet girl stress, the house is almost done, the family is, well they're always going to be stressful, I still cant believe you called my mother by the way." She gave him a dirty look.
"I didn't think she would come."
"She doesn't know about Scar."
"Speaking of stressful."
"Her opinion doesn't matter to me, if she's mad it'll mean she's around less, no surprise there, and if she's not, then ill have another surprise." Olivia said fed up with the yo yo of emotions that Maya had been exhibiting lately.
"Fair enough." Fitz said, he had learned that it's best to let Olivia deal with her relationship with her mother however she saw fit.
After a beat Olivia spoke again this time her voice was different, slightly more timid and intimate then usual,
"They wouldn't let you in because we aren't married?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"I just… give me time okay?"
"All the time in the world, we can get married next week or on my ninetieth birthday or we can live in sin for the rest of our lives, as long as I've got you for that long I don't care."
