Olivia and Fitz spent a good portion of their day lying together in the small bed watching the DVDs Fitz had brought with him. Before he came to the hospital he stopped and bought every season of game of thrones, Parks and Recreation, and the Mindy Project he could find. Fitz happily jumping out of the bed every time a nurse came in to check on Olivia, causing her to grumble. She was all cozy curled up next to Fitz, his long legs were hanging off the bed, but he did complain for a second. Finally Fitz fell asleep, Olivia had never been so relieved to hear his quiet steady breathes.
One of Olivia's nurses walked in, she was older and had graying hair, but she didn't say anything about Fitz being in her hospital bed, she even snuck him extra Jell-O, so she was their favorite. Upon noticing Fitz was asleep she whispered softly to Olivia.
"The doctor wants me to take you down and run a few more tests just to make sure everything went okay, you don't have to wake him, I'll bring in a wheel chair."
"Thanks," Olivia said truly grateful and trying to squirm her way out from under his massive form.
"A big guy like that, you would think he snores like a bear."
"Nope, he's pretty quite, doesn't even stomp around when he walks, doesn't snore, he's basically perfect, its kind of frustrating actually." Olivia joked, it was true Fitz didn't have too many irritating habits, or at least none that Olivia could find fault with.
"He sure seems to think the same thing about you, I thought he was going to barrel over the nurse that wouldn't let him in your room."
Olivia apologized awkwardly.
"He's usually really sweet and calm, I'm sorry if he made a scene or was disrespectful to you guys."
"Don't apologize she's a bitch." The nurse said matter of factly causing Olivia to bust into a hearty laugh.
Once Olivia got done with her tests she was exhausted, shocked that such a little thing could take so much of her energy from her. As her nurse, Carol, wheeled her back into her room she heard Fitz's voice, assuming that one of her siblings had returned she didn't think much of it.
"Uhm, well my girlfriend had her appendix removed, so I'm just waiting for her to get back." She heard Fitz say and it peaked her curiosity.
"Aw and you're such a sweetie you didn't want to leave her side, that's so cute!" Olivia heard a nasally voice reply.
"Yeah, I'm a peach, do you happen to know where she went?" Either the nurse didn't notice or care about his sarcasm and disinterest because when Olivia could finally see into her room the nurse was way too close to Fitz, who was discretely trying to back away. No woman would ever top his Livvie, but she didn't need the added stress of kicking the nurse's ass if she walked in on what was happening.
Unfortunately it was too late and Olivia spoke up causing the nurse to step back, but definitely not enough.
"I'm right here." Olivia spoke from the wheel chair, exchanging a look with Carol. Fitz immediately bounded over to her.
"Is everything okay, what happened? I woke up and you were gone." Fitz starting interrogating her and started pushing the wheelchair closer to the bed himself. Before Olivia could even push herself up, he scooped her up and set her down gently.
"We just needed to take her for a few follow up tests, but don't worry she's all in one piece." Carol answered enjoying watching Fitz dote over Olivia, who had taken up sentry next to her bed and was straightening the blankets to make sure she was warm.
"Can I help you with something?" Olivia addressed the nurse that now had a pinched expression on her face.
"No." the other woman answered snottily, leaving everyone still staring at her. "Well I walked by and saw that the patient's name was Olivia Pope, and well he doesn't look like an Olivia so I wanted to make sure the charts were correct."
"How reassuring it is to know you're so on top of things." Olivia said in a cordial tone, clearly dismissing the woman. Fitz smirked, turned on by a possessive Olivia.
"Yes, Nurse Kelli, thank you for being on top of my patients." Carol said making sure that the woman wouldn't return. Olivia caught a glimpse at her badge before she left.
"Nurse Kelli? Ugh with an I? Its like her parents wanted her to be a cocktail waitress!"
"Liv?!" Fitz said shocked that Olivia would say such a thing; she normally left that for Abby and Claudia.
"I'm still on pain meds, besides she was looking at you like she wanted to mount you after putting some meds in my IV." Olivia defended herself as Carol shook her head and left them alone.
"Well there's only one woman that gets to mount me and I wouldn't let her near your IV."
"Such a sweet talker." Olivia mocked him, while scooting over to give him room to come back into the small bed. He slipped in behind her so that she could lie on his chest; it was her favorite position for them to relax in. He began stroking her arms as she leaned her head back onto his shoulder.
"I miss Scar." Olivia pouted, she hadn't been with them long, but they suddenly went from being a duo to being the three musketeers and Olivia loved it.
"I'll text Michael and have him bring her over?"
"Yes please." She told him as she curled further into his chest.
About an hour later Michael and Abby showed up with Scarlett in tow, who happily reported that not only had they taken Boo on a walk, but she cuddled Zorro to make sure he didn't feel left out. Olivia quickly kicked Fitz out of the bed, to make room for Scarlett; he began pouting at having to share a seat with Olivia's new elephant.
"She's way cuter than you man." Michael added to the mix.
"And snuggly too." Scarlett said with her head on Olivia's shoulder. Fitz would be annoyed at having to share Olivia, especially Olivia's bed with most people, but watching their faces look up at him he just couldn't keep the pout on his face. With Olivia stroking her hair Scarlett fell asleep about ten minutes after they arrived.
"She didn't sleep much after Fitz left, we tried reading to her, but nothing worked." Abby told Olivia who looked a little heart broken. The fact that Scarlett had bonded so quickly with, not just Fitz, but her and her entire family just seemed to highlight how desperate for love and affection she was for the last six years. They let the little girl rest, speaking softly about Christmas plans and dinner, Olivia insisting she would be well enough to still cook for everyone by then.
"I think I'm going to get Scarlett a trampoline for Christmas. I always wanted one when I was a kid" Fitz told them with a bit of whimsy in his voice.
"No way. You want a trampoline and Scarlett doesn't need one." Olivia told him, she had to admit she was a little bit right.
"What's the point of a giant yard if not to fill it with vaguely unsafe toys. Besides I'll make sure it has one of those padded rings and a net and everything!" Fitz sounded like a kid bargaining for a toy but Olivia still put her foot down.
"Oh come on Olly just because you were a wild child doesn't mean Scarlett will get up to the same stuff you did!" Michael defended Scarlett and Fitz really. Who seemed to want it more.
"Wait what did you do?" Abby questioned Olivia.
"Nothing. I was a perfect angel. Pure as the driven snow and just as quiet."
"Well now I know you're lying." Fitz said laughing.
"When Liv was thirteen she decided that the diving board to the pool wasn't springy enough. She conned some of Dad's guys into moving it right next to the pool. Then sweet dear Olivia used it as a diving board. She would bounce as high as she could then do as many somersaults as she could until she hit the water. Which would have been fine is she stopped at one or two. No all summer Olivia would get the guys to bring it over and she would get Cammie and Harrison to bounce her so she could go higher and higher. The time she got caught by grams they almost launched her to the other side of the pool. Grams took a knife from the kitchen and cut the trampoline in half in front of the three of them."
"Just for the record I got three flips in before I hit the water and I had a solid foot before I would have hit cement." Olivia defended petulantly.
"Wow." Fitz said shocked. He knew Olivia was a bit of a dare devil and a somewhat rambunctious child but he didn't expect she was trying to launch herself ten feet into the air.
"So Scarlett isn't getting a trampoline." Fitz said defeated and a little scared about the ways that she could get herself into trouble that didn't even occur to him.
"In that vein she can't have an umbrella, a slip and slide or a bedroom window." Michael added tormenting them both. Olivia rolled her eyes but Fitz jaw hit the ground.
"What kind of devil child were you?" Abby asked, she knew Olivia had a wild side, most of that wild side Abby thought she brought out, but apparently it was there the whole time.
"Okay I was really young and obsessed with Mary Poppins when the umbrella thing happened. The slip and slide was awesome and I only climbed out my bedroom window that one time. It was much too high. Easier to wait until you went out or fell asleep."
"Wait you snuck out more then once? I caught her scaling the side of the house trying to get to a concert at a 21 and over club when she was fifteen! Of course we didn't let her go!" Michael gave Olivia a dirty look and she smiled happy to have gotten him back.
"Do I even want to know what you did to the slip and slide?" Fitz asked holding his head.
"Yes!" "No!" Michael and Olivia answered at the same time.
"Okay fine but when Scar wakes up we are ganging up on both of you!" Olivia warned in a quiet hiss as she went into telling the story.
"The window from our kitchen,"
"On the second floor," Michael interrupted.
"On the second floor, was really big and over looked the pool and yard. Mom, Michael and Dad went to Italy for business and Grams left Claudia in charge,"
"Wait how old were you this time?"
"17."
"Oh boy so Claudia was twenty one?"
"Yeah and the silly thing that she is thought that Olivia didn't need a baby sitter and went off to do her own thing." Michael answered.
"So one of my friends had just gotten a truck and we went to Lowes and bought a bunch of pieces for a slide and a few slip and slides. We took off the screen and window and ran the pieces of the slide from the window to the pool and draped a few slip and slides over it. I was about to take its very first ride when Claudia comes up behind me and pulls me off. By my ankle by the way and left it there until grams came. Grams almost killed us both. Me for doing it and Claudia for letting it happen."
"Yeah but after sending a bag of potatoes down the thing to make sure it was safe grams let Olly go down it anyway!"
"You didn't?" Fitz asked shocked that Olivia would try something like that. This was his Livvie, who's afraid of flying on airplanes.
"I did. Twice." Olivia smirked happy to have stunned him; she also saw the gleam in his eye that clearly indicated her being on the wild side clearly turned him on. That gleam would normally mean they would evacuate a room and have some time alone, leaving behind amused or grossed out faces.
He shook his head at her, seeing new side of his Livvie, was driving him crazy, just another down side of her being in the hospital.
"CeeCee told you that Mom is here right?" Olivia asked changing the subject before she kicked everyone out of the room.
"What!?" Abby and Michael exclaimed at the same time.
"Wow that really is annoying, now I know what Claudia is complaining about." Fitz said jokingly in response to Abby and Michael speaking in sync. Olivia snorted but didn't say anything else allowing them to catch up.
"Yeah my genius of a boyfriend decided to call her." Olivia added, hoping someone that could actually stay mad at Fitz would be annoyed that Maya was there.
"She's supposed out be out of the country until Christmas." Michael stuttered. Olivia laughed enjoying seeing her big brother nervous.
"She's not supposed to stay that long!" Still ranting and all together freaking out Michael continued to the confusion of Fitz and enjoyment of Olivia.
"Why is he freaking out?" Fitz asked Abby, because Olivia's smirk was just too sexy to deal with at the moment.
Abby shrugged, not really sure. Michael was always in control and calm, it made Abby feel safe.
"Mikey has never introduced his Mom to a girl." Olivia teased.
"I've already met Maya, at Thanksgiving." Abby reminded them.
"Not as her baby boy's girlfriend, or whatever." Olivia teased again before remembering that Michael and Abby never specifically said what they were to each other.
"Is it going to be worse than me meeting your father?" Fitz asked thinking Abby would probably get off easy.
"Worse." Michael groaned, causing Abby's eyes to widen as she turned on Fitz.
"I should kill you." She told him, much to Olivia's delight. "No more baked goods! And every time you and Liv run off I will send the kid in after you to be the biggest cockblock ever!"
"What? No! Why should I get punished?" Olivia whined and Michael looked sicker than he did before. Abby laughed at both of them relieving some of the tension in the room.
