Eventually Scarlett woke up, Abby and Michael had left, saying that someone would be back to get her in time for her dinner, and after chatting about their plans for next week Olivia decided to bite the bullet.

"Hey Scar, you know you'll have to go back to school right?" Olivia said playing with her soft curls. The little girl froze. Fitz saw the expression on her face and quickly realized why she was scared.

"You're going to go to a school here, near Liv and I, we just wanted you to come with us and check a few out, do you think you would be up for that?" He asked her.

"I don't have to go back to my old school?" She asked them.

"Well you could, but I think we would have to find a bus and you'd have to wake up pretty early." Fitz said joking. Olivia sensing Scarlett couldn't tell if he was entirely serious or not.

"Sweetie, no its too far, you'll go to a school near our house." She rolled her eyes in Fitz's direction at his corny sense of humor.

"Well that's okay I guess, will I still be in the third grade or do I have to go back to first? It was sooooo boring." She said in a dramatic way that reminded Olivia of Fitz. She laughed and assured her that the school she chose would be made aware of the situation.

"Phew." She said curling back in to let Olivia play with her hair. Quickly she was on to another topic, quizzing Fitz and Olivia about Harry Potter, than Norse mythology, than the difference between scuba diving and snorkeling. They indulged her, answering her questions and smiled grateful to have such a smart inquisitive child.

Eventually Claudia came by to pick Scarlett up, after promising to stay out of the kitchen and their hot tub, Fitz and Olivia allowed her to take Scarlett home so she could go to bed. Fitz quickly climbed back into the bed with Olivia as soon as they were out the door. She was sitting up reading a book that he had brought her, he rested his head in the crook of her neck and just enjoyed being close to her. He allowed his eyes to droop as he periodically nuzzled her neck and laid kisses on her shoulder. When he wasn't turning a page he had her hand in his curls, scratching his head the way that made him make a soft noise in the back of his throat. They were so content and comfortable it was easy for them to forget that they were even in a hospital room. Nurses periodically checked in but for the most part they were left alone.

"Imagine how different our lives would be if we met ten years from now." Fitz said whimsically teasing her long neck with his nose, as he lay on her shoulder, she could tell from his voice he was nearly asleep, it was deeper than usual and more gravelly.

"We wouldn't have met." Olivia replied after thinking about it for a minute, she knew he was half asleep and didn't want to wake him but she didn't want to lie.

"Of course we would have. I would have found you eventually." He told her in a way that made it clear he had no doubts.

"I just mean I would have gone home. I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be me."

"Why?" He asked becoming a bit more alert.

"Why would I have gone home?"

"Yeah, you fought so hard to get away how could you go back?"

"I was all alone."

"But you were safe."

"I... Before you I was alone. Literally all the time. I had no one to talk to. I was scared to death to get close to anyone. I was scared to get close to you but I couldn't help it. It just happened like breathing.

But before that... When I came here it was freedom. Finally being able to breathe but after a while it was just empty. I saw my family for holidays and maybe once a year.

I met Abby and she was just like a scared fragile person and I had an overwhelming need to save her. Fix her. But by letting her in she fixed me a little, think Abby was the reason I could let you in. Since I already had cracked that door it allowed you to push it open and walk right through.

Still I could only let her in so much for her own safety. I grew up surrounded by people and the entire time I was wishing I was alone and I got my wish and it was... It was... I went days without speaking to another human being. I mean an actual conversation. I would say hello exchange greetings but nothing that mattered.

If my father told me to come home I would have had my foot out the door and a bag packed before he hung up the phone. But than you come along and it was... Everything. You always want to know what I'm thinking and you want to talk about books and TV and everything and you make me laugh. God you're not even funny but you make me laugh harder than anyone I've ever met. You saved me." He smiled thinking about what she had said. At first he felt angry and sad like maybe he'd taken away her option but the way she opened up to him made it clear that he simply offered her another one. The one she always wanted.

"You saved yourself Livvie. I am just the reward you get for being a gladiator." He resumed his position on her shoulder and she turned to meet his lips for a kiss.

She leaned down and as soon as their lips met he was wide-awake. Because of her being sick and family coming in and out they hadn't exchanged a kiss like this in over twenty-four hours. They were drowning in each other, her hands searching from his hair down his back to his ass, her legs hitched over his hips. He was holding her face in on hand and allowing the other to move slowly down her side glancing the side of her breast, making her gasp in his mouth until it settled on her ass. He was about to pull away knowing that they should push it when she was still in the hospital especially when nurses kept coming in and out. He almost did but he heard her whimper his name and he wouldn't have been able to stop if he wanted to. She moved further down to kiss his chin and neck, she felt the stubble that had accumulated on his face and she stroked it.

She left her other hand wander down his chest, until she heard a throat clear.

"Crap." Olivia said, as she was facing the door, Fitz who assumed it was a nurse was surprised by her reaction, they were covered by a blanket, no one would really see that they were up to anything. Once he turned around he repeated the same thing.

"Lovely." Maya replied, behind her was a tall blond made, he was about the same age as her mother and fairly handsome, he was smirking at them.

"Mom." Olivia said subtly moving away from Fitz, not making him get out of the bed, just a respectable distance.

"We just wanted to come over and make sure you were comfortable, I know you don't like hospitals, but I see you're in good hands."

Pushing down her surprise that her mother remembered that she's hates the hospital, and that she cared enough to come by.

"We?" Olivia said after a beat. She had noticed the man behind her mother, but assumed he was a bodyguard or something.

"Olivia this is Dominick." She said gesturing to the man.

"Hello, its nice to meet you Olivia." She noticed a bit of an accent, but she couldn't detect where exactly, likely English or Australian.

"It is… Nice to meet me, I mean it's nice to be met… Yeah… uhm Fitz." She elbowed him in the side, trying to get him to talk but he was about as speechless as she was.

"Yes, Fitz is Olivia's boyfriend… Obviously." Maya said as Dominick wrapped his arm around her waist making it even clearer who they are to each other.

"Hey." Fitz managed to get out with a head nod.

"Well we were on the way to dinner and like I said wanted to make sure you were okay, did you eat dinner?"

"Huh?" Olivia said still staring at some strange man, with his arms around her mother, he looked comfortable, like it definitely wasn't new.

"Dinner, you know that thing you eat before you go to bed, I believe yours usually consists of red wine and popcorn." Maya said not allowing her to wallow in her shock. Fitz snorted at this and Olivia elbowed him again, harder this time.

"Ow, Livvie, god!" Fitz said and she hit him once again shutting him up as he pouted.

"Yeah Claudia brought us food when she came to get Scarlett, thanks." Olivia finally said.

"Scarlett?" Maya said, Olivia knew from the look on her face that she already knew, but wanted Olivia to come clean.

"Yes, she's seven, her mother just died and she's Fitz's younger sister. She's been with us for less than a week. I was planning on telling you when you came for Christmas, but well that obviously didn't happen so. She is going to stay with us permanently."

"Well if you need any help with anything you'll let me know?" Maya asked.

This time Olivia had to be elbowed by Fitz.

"Yeah of course thank you." Olivia finally got out.

"You're being released tomorrow morning, correct?"

"Yes."

"Well perhaps we could come by the house tomorrow for dinner, I'll bring something over." Maya offered, Olivia still in shock at the person standing in front of her just nodded her head.

"It was really nice meeting you both." Dominick said as they were turning to walk out of the door. Fitz and Olivia just stared at him blankly. Once Dominick and Maya were gone Fitz and Olivia just looked at each other, after a beat Olivia burst into manic laughter that concerned Fitz at first than quickly got him laughing with her. Finally when she caught her breath she said,

"I guess all my Mom needed to be a decent human being was to get laid by a hot Aussie." Fitz jaw dropped than he continued laughing with her.

"I guess Abby and Michael don't have to worry." Fitz said once they calmed down.

"Yeah I'm kind of bummed out about that." Olivia told him.

"Him being scared of your Mom is kind of hilarious, I mean she's terrifying but still, its Michael."

"I just wanted to see him get yelled at, he boned my best friend in our guest room! Someone should yell at him about it and it obviously can't be me!"

"Because of what we did to his car? It doesn't count he doesn't know about that."

"Abby does!"

"You told Abby!?"

"She got me at a vulnerable time, it was right after she broke up with David there was tequila involved!" Olivia defended herself. Fitz couldn't blame her, while Olivia could hold her wine and drink scotch that makes most grown men grimace when it came to tequila she became horny and chatty, which usually worked in his favor.

"Okay, so we just have to make sure Claudia and Harrison don't do anything gross in the house too!" Fitz said realizing that everyone was coupled up again.

"We haven't had sex in any of Claudia or Harrison's cars!"

"This family might have gotten too close…" Fitz said.

"You think!? It's your fault Mr. I just want us all to live together! Now we live in a frat house!" Olivia scolded him making him laugh.

"Time for your last pain meds, tomorrow you'll be stuck with Tylenol and I wont be waking you up every two hours so enjoy me while I last." Carol said entering her room with a smile. As soon as she left Olivia slid down further in bed and made herself comfortable half on the bed and half on Fitz, the meds hit her quickly and she was asleep.
