"So, how many siblings do you have?" April asks, running her hands through her thick, dark before stretching a hair tie and slipping it over. She pirouettes her fingers five times until her ponytail ties tight, and proceeds to lie back against the wall; staring at the blond in the office chair.
"I beg your pardon?" Tobie asks, furrowing his brow as he flips through the monitors with great desperation.
"You know, brothers and sisters. Like, how many kids do your parents have; people in your immediate family?"
"Really; brothers and sisters? You sure you don't want to just ask me about the weather? Maybe see what my favorite sport team is? Why yes, I suppose that sport ball did get passed around quite a bit didn't it? That one group came dangerously close to making a tackle! Hm, want to know what my favorite color is too? Gonna ask what my plans for the fucking weekend are too? Because they're likely going to be about me dying, along with everyone else here. How many dogs and cats? Who cares?" Tobie's flippant response stinging with venom as he rolls his eyes and glances in her direction.
"It was just a question…" April murmers in disappointment; just before the same fire in her eyes during her conversation with Danny ignites once more. "It's all your fucking fault that we're trapped here! You've already practically killed us. There is no reason for you to be so rude!"
Tobie sighs and turns to face her, resting his hands on the keyboard. "I'm sorry, that was rude. Look, I apologize for dragging you and Ken into this. Obviously I wouldn't have brought the two of you with us if I knew what was going to happen. Hell, none of us would have come." He rotates the chair 180 degrees and stares into her eyes. "I swear that we are going to get out of this alive. You, me, Rose, Danny, Krystal, and anyone else that survived."
The brunette looks up at Tobie with a curious expression. "You forgot Keanu."
"No I didn't." He replies with a smirk.
Despite the uncomfortable grin desperately attempting to escape her dour demeanor, April forces herself to recoil and fires back. "That's not funny! We've already lost so many people Tobie. How can you even joke about that?" April's voice raises a few octaves, despite not being entirely offended by Tobie's comment.
"Isn't it? It's just Keanu. That isn't me being mean, April, that's just honesty. He's the reason we are so low on power. Had that asshole not spent the entire past two hours wasting our battery power, we would have a much better chance at survival. Keanu is just a liability." Tobie turns to face April entirely as he says this, his voice unwavering with certainty. "Think about that for a second April. If it weren't for him, we would still have a ton of power, and wouldn't be having this discussion right now."
April takes a moment to ponder her older friend's words. In her mind, he strikes a very valid point…but accepting any one of her friends as a liability seemed cruel.
"I see your point…but don't you think that's at the very least a little bit cruel? I mean he's your friend…you're talking about one of your friends dying as though it doesn't matter."
"Well…friend is a strong word. That isn't the point though. We can all make it out alive, I'm just not guaranteeing that I will step in to save him if something happens. In fact, I can say with utmost certainty that I will not go out of my way to help him. Sorry if that bothers you; that's just how things are." Tobie turns to face the monitor and begins flipping through the cameras, the dull light of the screen illuminating his face. "Now what's going on there?" Tobie examines the monitor closer, his eyes fixating on the fuzzy screen of the Kitchen; the ear-splitting audio of pots and pans being shifted around being as excruciating, as one would expect. "This is…this is…this is…boring." He finishes, flipping to the Supply Closet camera, and turning his head to face April once more; barely missing the image of a large bunny standing in front of a pair of naked teens. "Do you get what I'm saying? Keanu isn't worth the time or effort it takes to keep him around. I was hoping that spending a night hanging out with him would reignite whatever spark there was when I first met him. You know, remember why the hell I ever thought he'd make a good companion. However, all tonight has proven is that he is way more trouble than he is worth."
"But still…you can't be serious about killing him. I'd step in to save you if you were in trouble…same with Keanu. How do you think he would like it if he heard you say those things? "
"And I would save you as well, probably, but there is a difference. Besides, letting him die isn't the same as killing him. This is all speculation anyway, and come on April. I don't care what he would think or how bad his feelings would be hurt. That is irrelevant. I will try to keep everyone alive if I can, but I won't stop someone like him from inevitably getting himself killed." Tobie exhales deeply before pushing himself up from the chair and walking over to April. "Man I am way too fat now." He extends his arm out to her as he crouches down to level.
"I…we will have to agree to disagree on that." April says with a sigh, looking up at him and taking his hand; allowing the boy to help her up. Her body stiffens as she feels his arms snake around her side as Tobie pulls her into a tight hug. All of her disappointment, frustration, anger, and other negative emotions faded away as she felt herself go rigid against his body.
"14." Tobie says, ignoring her statement and looking at her with his piercing grey eyes. He pulled her into a full embrace, unable to keep himself from smiling as he began to move forward, pressing her against the wall. "I have 14 siblings."
"What?" April asks, staring back at him; finding herself somehow transfixed by his gaze. She was incapable of moving or looking away from his eyes, her body turning to putty against him. This was weird, and certainly not like her. Never before had anyone been able to put this kind of spell over her, yet here was the boy who had dragged her and her best friend through half of a night of hell and declared his friends expendable somehow managing to hold her attention in a way very alien to her. The feeling was…uncomfortable, yet somehow safe. All she knew was that she didn't want it to end…although she could do without the assured smirk spreading across his face. Suddenly he began inching his face forward and she found herself at a complete loss of words, unable to even think of any way to protest; or better yet, why she would even want to. All of those feelings flushed away however, as she closed her eyes and leaned in to meet him; only for a loud slam to break the moment.
Both teens turned around to investigate whatever had made the sound, only to find Keanu standing feet behind them. Tobie's leather bag beside him slumped forward as his arm begins to quiver after finding himself unable to lift it by the strap. The boy looks at his friend with a tear-streamed face that is red with a clear mixture of hurt and betrayal that quickly fills with rage as he lunges at the blond.
"You would leave me to die?" Keanu exclaims, attempting to tackle the other boy; only for April to step to the side and push him back into the desk. She pushes his arms back with one arm while attempting to wrestle him still or wear him out; whichever came first. April's other hand made itself busy by clasping around the boy's mouth to keep him quiet as he continued to squirm and writhe beneath her grasp.
"Calm down Keanu!" She says, looking down at the boy with faint pity in her eyes. "Take deep breaths. Please!" April looks back at Tobie in disbelief, remembering exactly why she had been cross with him in the first place. "See what I was talking about? This is why you…" April's train of thought is interrupted as a caramel-colored elbow slams into her face and knocks her across the room.
Keanu steadies himself for a moment before bolting for the bag once more. "I fucking hate all of you! How the hell can you say those horrible things about me, Tobie? Danny I can understand; he was never my friend…I see that now. You were, though. I…I just can't believe it. Fucking traitor! Why would you say those horrendous lies?" Keanu crouches down slightly, taking Tobie's bag into his hand again and backing up, dragging the heavy sack across the floor.
"Have you considered the 'shocking development' that every word I said was true? You pathetic piece of shit; every fucking word was as true as the fact that your stupidity is going to get us all killed." Tobie says coldly as he takes a step forward, walking past April's body that is in a slump against the wall. His gaze shifts to his messenger bag that has been causing Keanu such trouble. "Were you going to leave with that; you fucking worm? You were seriously going to take our supplies and split? Where to? We can't escape, dumbass. Especially if you can't even lift a meager 50 lbs." He steps forward, taking hold of the strap and yanking the bag away from Keanu; tossing it beside April. Keanu steps in, pounding his fist into Tobie's right cheek and following up with a stomach shot.
The blond staggers for a bit, struggling to regain his footing as Keanu walks toward him; readying a kick. Tobie rolls out of the way, mere inches from the open doorway before pouncing at his former friend and clamping his teeth around his crotch. Keanu yelps out in pain as Tobie tugs with his teeth before eventually letting go and tackling him to the floor. "I wasn't going to do this Keanu…but fuck it; if I'm such a fucking horrible friend, then I guess it only makes sense for me to throw you to the fucking wolves; so to speak. Right?" He asks, rhetorically as he gathers himself and takes hold of Keanu's collar, dragging him to the left door and holding up Keanu's head to let him gaze into the abyss. "Last chance to apologize, fucker. I think it's obvious what's going to happen if you don't." He says, coldly as he looks down at his former friend.
The tan-skinned boy's face drains of color as he stares into the void; his crotch growing warm and wet with either blood or piss; not that he cared at the moment. "Fuck! I…I'm sorry Tobie, okay? Look dude, I'm sorry I attacked you, I'm sorry I attacked April, I'm sorry for all of that…just please, for the love of fuck, don't throw me out there! I'll do anything. I'm so fucking sorry dude…please!" Keanu exclaims, pleading as he stares up at Tobie, his lips trembling. "You're a forgiving dude…please, I know you're not this heartless. I fucked up, but I swear I won't do anything again. I'll leave you guys alone, forever…just please don't throw me out there Tobie. I'm begging you."
Tobie looks down at Keanu for a few moments; his disgusted, yet vacant expression slowly contorting into a self-assured smirk as he crouches down to Keanu's level and places his hands on each of his shoulders. He pulls the other boy into a hug, holding him still before looking him in his dilated brown eyes. "It's okay Keanu. You can't help being pathetic, can you?" He asked, spitting his words in a vaguely reassuring tone.
"I'm not…yes…yes I am Tobie…" Keanu says, faint resignation in his voice as he realizes that his chances of not crossing his friend any further are better if he stays submissive. "Thank you for forgiving me."
"Forgive you? Who ever said anything about that?" Tobie asks with a smirk as pulls Keanu even closer to the doorway.
"What? But I apologized! Please don't do this!" Keanu squeals, trying to kick and squirm away just as Tobie's fist slams into his face again.
"And I never said I forgave you. Sorry Keanu, but…well, I'm not sorry. But who knows, maybe Shazam can save you." He smirks, throwing Keanu outside by his shirt and slamming the door. Immediately after, repetitive pounding can be heard against the window. The sound grows louder and louder with every second, the frequency of the beats quickly becoming unbearable and prompting Tobie to flip the hallway light on. As predicted, the heavily bruised form of Keanu is slamming his fists against the window and shouting as a large purple bunny walks toward him.
"Please Tobie! Fuck please! Ah!" Keanu's wails continue incessantly, much to Tobie's pleasure. The boy smirks one final time before hitting the door release switch and allowing Keanu to scramble inside just before Bonnie's hand has a chance to grasp his shoulder. The blond slams the door shut once again with a laugh and holds his hand out to his former friend.
"Now what did we learn?" Tobie asks, his hand still extended to Keanu. "Answer quickly, or I'll throw you back out there." He finishes as Keanu graciously takes his hand and stands up before coming to his senses and throwing an instinctive punch.
"You almost killed me!" Keanu shrieks as Tobie steps away from the frantic and feeble attack. "What the hell?"
"You get one of those, asshole. You won't mention this to anyone, either, unless you want to find yourself outside again; understand? You are going to do whatever I say from now on as well; you hear me? No complaining, no crying, and no squealing. Are we clear?" He asks as he sits back down at the desk and turns to the camera and changes it, not paying attention to the puddle of blood in the seemingly empty room. "Now, slave, check on April. You're the one who knocked her out; maybe she has come to."
Keanu hangs his head and shuffles toward the unconscious girl; like a dog terrified of receiving another kick from its cruel master. Crouching, he presses the tips of his fingers at her neck; breathing a sigh of relief upon feeling her fairly strong pulse. "Ah!" Keanu reels back as April's fist dishes out a nasty uppercut.
"What the fuck is your problem?" April yells, standing up and walking toward Keanu. If her eyes were lasers they would have burned Keanu's neck clean off through sheer contempt. "I try to calm you down and you fucking knock me out?"
"April! He isn't worth your time. Just let him sit there and sulk. It's all that he is good for anyhow." Tobie chuckles, looking the girl in the eye and watching the rage disappear from them almost instantaneously as she approaches the desk, before turning around and focusing on the cameras again. "Sweet mother of little fuck shits…" He gasps in horror as he flips to the camera to the West Hall and sees the familiar image of Rose's short, platinum hair pressed against the chest of a large purple rabbit. He glances further down the hallway and sees an overcast shadow of what appears to be a…fox. "Oh fuck no…"
….
Why did we ever agree to come here? I…God I can't even think clearly now. I just want this to be over. I just want to wake up in my bed and invite Tobie and Danny over to watch X-Files, or Doctor Who, or Red Dwarf, or anything! I wish I hadn't said yes…that I was actually successful in convincing them that this was a bad idea. Now we're all going to die. I suppose there is some solace in the thought of Allie dying with us…but this isn't fair! Why can't I just close my eyes and have this all be a dream? Oh, right…I can't close my eyes. Who would have thought that my favorite robot would be staring me down, ready to pounce as soon as I close my eyes?
These thoughts and many others race through Rose's head as she stands frozen in terror, her back against the bunny. Her eyes are showing heavy strain from her terminal staring contest with the fox. She feels her body begin to go weary, her arms turning to jelly from sheer strain just as they brush against something warm...something wet and fleshy in nature.
No! No. No. No. No. No. No! Stay strong, Rose. You can't let yourself die right now. Just remember that you lose if you lose your cool, and…what the fuck was that?
Desperately trying not to look away from the fox for too long, she glances down; horrified to see the mangled, pudgy body of Hunter in Bonnie's cold, cushioned grip. It takes everything she has for Rose not to shriek on the spot as the thought dons on her that she has just looked away from Foxy.
Oh fuck. Oh fuck. Oh fuck. Oh fuck. Oh fuck! Please tell me he's still there!
Rose looks ahead once more to find that Foxy has moved forward a full five-feet; now standing just three-feet away from her.
Shit, that was close! I can't look away…I also can't stay here forever though. God, I think I just peed my pants. Oh fuck…what was that?
Bonnie turns to the right, squeezing past Rose and accidentally bashing Hunter's corpse against the wall as he does; making his way into the dining hall, and toward the back room that she and the others had visited earlier.
That's curious…why didn't Bonnie just kill me when I had my back turned to him? Huh…maybe they can only carry one person at a time? That sounds…stupid; like some kind of shitty deus ex machina solution so we don't all just die one after another. On that note, Danny, Joey, and I had our eyes fixed on Bonnie the entire time we were in the parts-service room; why didn't he stay still? Awfully convenient…maybe Foxy just works on different rules? Fuck this would be a sloppy mess of disjointed storytelling and double standards. Danny would get a kick out of that if he were here. Hell, I'd get a kick out of it if I weren't probably going to die soon. No Rose, think positive. I really hope Danny is okay though…and Krystal. Hopefully they make it back okay as well. Still, the thought of Foxy operating differently is interesting though. Fuck, I don't think I can keep my eyes open for much longer. I need to blink, and soon. Maybe I can shut my eyes for just a half a second? I know I shouldn't, but I can't keep my eyes open much longer. Fuck it; here goes nothing.
Rose closes her eyes for a couple of seconds; feeling something cold pokes her left arm as she opens her eyes. Her body goes rigid once more as she stares into the felt mouth of her favorite animatronic. Foxy's hook prods her soft arm; the rest of his body sprawled in a stance that says "I'm going to pounce the ever-loving fuck out of everything you hold dear."
Okay…that was a bad idea. At least that hook isn't too sharp…still, seems unreasonably pointy for a children's restaurant. Okay, I don't have much time…but I need to get back to the security room. There is no way I can squeeze past Foxy without breaking eye contact, and there is no sense holing myself up in that maintenance closet if Bonnie was able to get in there. Wait…if Allie and Hunter were together, and Bonnie killed Hunter, but could only carry one body; does that mean…no, there is a ton of blood on the floor. How much blood is in the human body anyway? Eh, I dunno; can't be a lot. I mean, it's already filled with organs and stuff. Oh god, I just realized that there's blood everywhere! Shit, fuck, I need to throw up. Be strong Rose; keep cool. You can vomit once you get to the security office. Let's do this nice and easy.
Rose starts backing up slowly, careful not to slip on the large puddle of blood as she makes step after step. Taking deep breaths and keeping her arms at her side for balance, Rose feels the hallway grow brighter. Someone turned the hall light on! Huzzah!
Thank you whoever the fuck you are! Almost there; I'm gonna make it.
Rose glances into the room through the furthest corner of the window, to see Tobie in a death-stare with the monitor. Keanu is standing at the wall with his hands ready at the door button, just waiting to push it as soon as she steps through. She breathes a sigh of relief as thoughts of hugging every one of her friends fill her mind. Well, those thoughts as well as ones of vomiting her guts out once she is safe. Rose continues to back up before making the dreaded realization that she has once again looked away from Foxy. She quickly switches her gaze back to the fox, only to find him just inches away from her once more.
"Shit!" Rose yells, keeping her eyes fixed on Foxy as she backs up more. "I'm almost there, guys."
"Argh, that there be sailor talk. Fit on my ship back home, but not here, not around the little kiddies. Keep a lid on that filthy mouth o' yours lest you be ready and willing to walk the plank; you scurvy cur." Foxy's broken jaw struggles to align itself with the restaurant's pre-programmed dialogue as he cocks his head in a very mechanical fashion.
"…Goddammit, Foxy. I'm absolutely terrified of you, but that was beautiful." Rose says with a nervous laugh as she backs up even more, feeling the edge of the doorframe. A triumphant smirk crosses her face as she grips the frame and takes one final step back "But fuck your plank!" She chuckles, looking through the window with a nod. But, to her horror, the metal door closes before she can step inside; the blood on her shoes making her slip to the floor as the door crushes her hand; cutting a few fingers off in the process. Two screams can be heard from the security office as, the sound of a body slumping against the floor chimes through the closed door; followed by uncontrollable sobbing.
A loud, high-pitched shriek sounds as the mechanical fox bolts toward Rose, unhinged jaw wagging as he closes in and Rose lets out a loud scream of her own.
…
"Keanu! What the fuck did you do?" Tobie yells, feeling his stomach turn as he eyes Rose's detached fingers and the blood they sprayed on the metal door. His gaze switches to the tan-skinned boy who is now a sobbing mess, huddled against the wall in a fetal position. He sees April, sitting on the back shelf in disbelief, anger and shock plastered across her face. The blond readies himself, steadying Keanu in his gaze once again. "You just killed Rose, you sorry fuck! I am going to fucking kill you; you bastard!" Tobie stands up, only to feel April's sweater sleeve wrap around his chest and hold him back.
"Tobie, he isn't worth it. We'll figure out what to do with him in a bit, but you can't just kill him." She says softly, trying to sooth the blond.
"He killed Rose, April. That fucker is going to get what's coming to him."
"Yes, and he'll face trial for what he did; probably. But if you kill him too, then you will have to as well. You don't want that.
"No, he'd be just another victim of the murder-bots." He says, coldly before letting out a pained sigh. "Fine, We'll let Danny decide what to do with him. It's only fitting." Tobie walks over to Keanu and kicks him in his ribs, making the boy squeal in pain, yet remain in his own state of shock. "Mind taking over, hon?" Tobie asks, unhitching his belt and forcefully tying it around Keanu's wrists. He looks out the window before abruptly closing his eyes and flipping the hallway light off. "I need to take a breath."
April nods and sits down, flipping through the cameras; focusing on each one for about a minute or so. She spots Foxy carrying the bleeding body of their friend to the part-services room just as Bonnie exits it and switches cameras immediately. Nobody wants to see that. She moves to another camera, spotting what appears to be a dark jacket lying on the floor of the dining hall, along with two shadows moving on the wall; one much faster than the other. "Tobie. Looks like the others might be in trouble too…" She sighs, looking back and seeing that he has lain his head against his bag on the back counter and taking a much-needed rest. As April continues to navigate the cameras, she notices all of the animatronics have begun moving in the same direction, toward the front door. Curious, she moves to another camera the one for the other end of the dining hall and spots another large group of teens entering the restaurant. "Oh fuck…we've got company."
….
"You managed to survive, eh?" Danny asks, smirking while being dickishly surprised, and closing the power-room door behind him as he flashes his light up the tall form of Drew. "How'd you do that? Or do the animatronics not go for tall, tan, and douchey?"
"Yeah man, no fucking robots are gonna keep a real g down." Drew laughs, smugly as he looks down at the other boy. "So what happened to Ken? That goddamn puppet thing killed James while I was in the pantry. I kept myself locked in there well after I heard that thing's box shut. Fucker never stood a chance; sucked too, he seemed kind of cool."
"Tobi and Krystal said something about Ken being killed in a bathroom or something. I kind of zoned out because it was so fucking boring. So you've just been cowering in here like a baby? A real "g" would have been out there, bashing in robot heads and making them learn what it really means to feel fear. But I guess you were just content to sit here and do fuck all, right?"
"Hey man, don't go jacking my swagger. I'm not going to fuck with those things. Hell, hiding in here seemed to be the best course of action anyway. I haven't seen any of them for a while now." Drew says, defensively as he paces to the back of the room and leans against a the wall in the small room. "How is everyone though? Are they safe; aside from Ken, of course? He died in the bathroom? Heh. I'm really fighting the urge to make a glory hole joke. What about that fine bitch Krystal, tell me the robots didn't smash her before I got the chance." He chuckles. "Oh fuck, I am definitely going to hell."
"Yes, yes you are." Danny groans, fighting the urge to throttle Drew's neck on the spot for spewing such hateful bile. He shines the light along the wall, noticing three sets of breakers and one old-timey lever next to them. Like the kind Dick Dastardly would slam down to cheat at the Wacky races, even though it was clearly on the side of a mountain or something else devoid of electronic material. "Hm, seems like this might be it. Fucking hell is this a stupid fucking design. A giant, one-lever switch to shut off the power? Fucking Harland and Wolff would have come up with a better design. Oh well, at least it's nice and simple; like you, Drew. Although, I suppose we can count nice out; you "nice guy" He laughs, looking through the different panels for a switch to reset the power.
"Oh, I get it." Drew says, ignoring Danny's previous statement. "Shutting the power off will shut those robots down, right?"
"Are you really that fucking stupid? Wait, don't answer." Danny says, glancing back with a "why isn't my fist in your stupid fucking face" expression. "No, idiot, does that make any actual sense to you? They aren't plugged in with extension cords, dumpass."
"Dude, no reason to be a dick, yo. I'm not sending harsh vibes your way. Don't make me throw down, Danny. I definitely will." Drew says, clenching his fists, adroitly.
"Ha, you really think you could take me? Even without my shillelagh I am more than capable of wiping the floor with you 'dude'. Just be glad that there are more important things to deal with right now, and…where the fuck is Rose?" He asks, to no one in particular, a touch of actual concern in his voice. As if on cue, the loud shriek of what could only be Rose sounds off in an ocean of other screams. The boy backtracks to the door, flinging it open with reckless abandon and sticking his head outside. The light of the hallway, although fairly dim from this distance, still illuminates the dreaded image of the mechanical fox penetrating Rose's body with his hook. Her uncontrollable wails soon drowned out by her blood loss as she presumably passes out…or worse. Her blood sprays on he door that appears to be…closed. Fucking Keanu. Without thinking, Danny rushes back into the room, drops his still-lit torch, and runs into Drew. Before the taller boy can get a single word out, Danny straightens both of his hands and chops them around Drew's neck on each side.
Drew falls to the ground, clutching his throat as he gasps for air. Blood pours from the boy's mouth as he gurgles any last word he could possibly muster before his eyes lose all life and his body goes limp.
"Stay out of my fucking way next time, prick." Danny says, astutely as he steps over his body and rushes to the lever; slamming it down in silence.
The restaurant goes dead, all lights shut off, and all music ceases to play. The security office door whizzes open, and for the first time in weeks, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza is dead.
