Chapter XI- Danger- High Voltage and radioactive

Fox just won't listen to Falco. Krystal was what was in his mind. The only thing is to save her. That's all.

He still remembered the video footage that filmed a brief moment of her. It kept spinning in his mind. So he opened the next heart.

The orange heart contained a picture from an action movie. With a small device like the last time. The picture is about a man saving a woman with electric wires under them by air.

"Let me guess, I need to go to a nuclear reactor, right?"

Fox did not think much. At the same time, Falco went into his car and started to rush towards the Police HQ, Fox went silently to the car that he owned. And inserted the device into the GPS in his car.

"Please go to this destination."

Fox then started to go there. The facility was 100 kilometers outside the capital of Coneria. Fox knew the facility. The facility is the only remaining nuclear fission power station in Coneria. Although protested, Conerian government still did not execute the order of taking it off. First, it has powered the Capital city for at least 50 years. Second, it gave a quite significant amount of energy. Almost the 10% of the total energy usage of the capital city. And even though it is okay to remove it, the scale is too big to take it down in a short time. Plus there is a big chance of leaking radiation while trying to disassemble the power generator. Even with the help of EF.

When Fox got to the entrance, it said: Danger. High voltage. Radioactive. No entering without permission. With a radioactive resistant suit beside it.

Fox then took a quick glimpse in the suit. He saw another device, a reading screen with a radioactive absorber beside it.

Fox predicted what will happen next.

He did not wear the radioactive suit, instead, he pulled the absorber out of the suit.

"That will bring me more maneuverability in the reactor. Rather than trying to get through it in a bulky suit."

When he got in the site, he saw no-one but electrical systems powering and working on its own. Since this facility operates itself. Plus it's a holiday. So people do not work unless retail or servicing stores can remain their service hours if they like according to Conerian law.

The device then switched on itself. Saying that Fox needed to go to the structure and find the video card that he must find. Repeating the phrase after the content:

"Are you brave enough to save your lover?"

"There's no turning back. I have to save her."

By then he came to a door, the door opened itself. As if it were expecting Fox to come.

Fox took out his phone. And opened the application of detecting radioactive meter in a specific area. For Fox wanted to know whether he will be in danger or not.

Before he can take out his phone, the device beeped, getting Fox's attention. He took it out and there was an option on the screen named: map.

When he pressed it, the map opened. It said that Fox needed to go through the first and second reactor compartment, then to the core compartment, taking the memory card, then proceed to the back door.

"Shouldn't be a problem."

When he went into the first compartment, what he saw was a small reactor. The reading has its numbers increasing. The maximum amount of radioactive material it can absorb in a 1m radius is 10^5 Curie. A quite massive amount. But the amounts were skyrocketing so much that Fox needed to go already. Probably run to the second compartment.

When Fox went to the big door that written: second compartment, he then saw inside. A bigger reactor containing more nuclear reactants.

Fox then quickly went to the door that led to the 3rd compartment. But then a thing appeared and surprised him- the door that sealed the main compartment had been sealed with a locking device that can only be unlocked by answering the questions according to the device's screen.

"What's the question then?"

By then the radioactive meter has absorbed 20% out of the max value. But Fox still had to hurry.

"Let's see, an integral question. Shoot. I haven't studied calculus. Better text Falco or Hyacinth for help." Thought he.

When he texted to Hyacinth, it popped out from his phone that he was being in a meeting with the agent from Alpha Centauri Gamma planet and cannot answer him by now. Then when he texted to Falco about the equation he needed to solve, there was a response and the answer is an inverse trigonometric function. Fox was so relieved that he inputted the answer then switched off his phone. Not noticing that Falco was typing something on the other side.

The door to the third reactor opened. And what Fox saw has made him shudder.

"Oh my god." He said.

The last reactor is kind of like a big molten iron factory. Below the platform which Fox was standing was a chunk of molten radioactive material. Flowing to maximize the reaction velocity used to produce electricity. Fox's target is right at the center of the reactor up high. But he had to go through a narrow board to get there. If he lost his balance, he would become cooked by the radioactive material underneath.

At the left of him sat a door that wrote: skulker.

Fox thought: "Of course I am no coward! But with that radiation and all the heat underneath, will I fall to my death?"

But looking at the radioactive meter rising up to 50% all of a sudden, he told himself:

"No! I will pass through. I must pass through for Krystal!"

The road to the small table is a tricky one. It is just a small plank boarded between two platforms. If he slipped or lost his balance, that would be his doom.

When he stepped the first step, there will be no turning back. The second step has to be done.

Fox strived to remain his balance. But he looked at the radioactive meter that went up to 60%, he had to hurry up. But he cannot run too fast or he will fall into oblivion. Whilst he cannot slowly walk there or he would suffer from radioactive sickness or even death. Still, when he think of that while walking, he was already halfway through.

When he almost went to the end, he told himself that he and Krystal will survive this mess. That they will look for the same happiness they had before. While he felt the heat produced by the molten radioactive material. Those volatile material emitting smoke that serves as if a griller.

Fox finally stepped on the platform. That way, he can get the card just like the last one. There can be more about Krystal. More content that ensured her survival as long as he obeys the killer.

"Warning. The radioactive meter has reached 90%. Please leave the radioactive area immediately!"

"Oh no. Thought Fox. Luckily the road to the back door is a straight road. But can I even reach there?...No! I must reach there! For the sake of myself and Krystal!"

He then grabbed the card, then ran. Ran as fast as he could.

"The radioactive absorber cannot absorb anymore! Please leave the radioactive area!" Said the machine when Fox finally went to the back door. Fox opened it and closed it so fast that the door lock has almost been destroyed.

Fox panted. He did it. He finally got through the facility.

When he got back to his car he was astonished that no one actually saw him in the facility. He went back and approached his laptop.

When Fox inserted the card, he saw another thing that made him both reassuring and more nervous. Krystal did not talk anything. She was asleep. Or in coma. But she was soaked in the water and at the bottom of the screen it said: heart beat rate: 88/min. Temp: 35 degrees Celsius. Brain activity normal. For a few seconds. The screen then darkened, and another numbers and letters appeared in the screen, along with those which appeared at the last time.

"Thank god." Thought Fox. As he put down his laptop and drove back.
