SARA'S PAST

CHAPTER TWO

"Sara, let me finish, he's here in Vegas and knows that you are still alive." Grissom finishes knowing what this will do to Sara.
"Oh God NO!" Sara exclaims. "What am I going to do?" Sara went pale at this news.
"Sara, you are not the same person you were when you were with Bryon Thomas. You have come so far since I faked your death. You are not the scared frail woman that Bryon made you into years ago. You are a strong woman now, not a frightened woman scared of doing anything that Bryon didn't like for fear of what he would do to you." Grissom looks at Sara noticing her color slowly coming back.
"You are right. I am not the same person as I was years ago. I am not the person Bryon controlled. I am not going to let Bryon hit me, beat me, rape me or punish me ever again. You saved my life that night. If it wasn't for you I would be dead. You coming that night and what you did for me saved my life. I can never repay you for that. I am not going to let Bryon destroy my life again. Bryon took everything from me once and made me a prisoner in my own home. He made me into a frightened woman scared of doing anything Bryon didn't like for fear of being 'punished' as he called it. Bryon took enough from me, no more." Sara finds her inner strength and the knowledge that she wasn't the same woman that Bryon Thomas abused, that he controlled.
"That's great Sara. I know you are strong enough to get through this and I will be there to help you. Sara, I'm sorry to say this but we need to tell the team what is going on." Grissom looks at Sara to gauge her reaction to the news, afraid of how she is going to take the news. Grissom knows the team needs to know about Bryon and what he is capable of especially since from what Bryon said that he wanted Sara back and that he would stop at nothing to have her back. Bryon expected Sara to fall back in line and leave Vegas with him immediately. He was afraid to tell her this but knew she needed to hear it. "Bryon expects you to leave Vegas with him. He wants you to go back to him. It could get ugly since I know you have no intention of doing this. The team needs to know what they are up against."
"I know, Gris that they deserve to know what is going on. It would not be fair to them to find out about this any other way. I need to tell them instead of Bryon just showing up, which he is capable of doing, especially since he expects me to leave Vegas with him, which will be a cold day in hell before I do that. I will never go back to Bryon. Never in a million years will I go back to that life of fear and abuse." Sara says and she agrees with Grissom that the team needs to be told. Bryon Thomas was capable of anything and they needed to be on the lookout for him. He was a dangerous man. Sara knew firsthand how dangerous he really was. There were things that even Grissom didn't know about and never would.
"Are you ready to tell them?" Grissom asked worried. He was worried about Sara, he had every reason to be. He knew what Bryon was capable of. He had seen it firsthand especially that night when he found Sara and she was bleeding to death. He had saved her life that night and changed her life forever. He took matters into his hands.
"Not here at the Lab. I do not want to tell them here. There are too many people who could hear what I have to say that they do not need to hear about this. Nick, Warrick, Catherine and Greg are the only ones I want to know about Bryon." Sara tells Grissom hoping he would understand.
"Okay, but Jim needs to know too. We probably will need his help before this is over especially since. Bryon expects you to just leave with him which I know you won't be doing. Leaving with him would be like committing suicide."
"Yes, you are right Brass needs to be told too. Where should we meet? I want it far away from the lab. I only want the team and Brass to hear what I have to say." Sara wonders where Grissom would suggest, but hoping it is somewhere not near Bryon. "Where is Bryon staying at did he say?"
"No, he didn't. He said he would be in touch. I think we should meet at Nick's place if that is okay with him. I'll ask him." Grissom tells Sara before he continues. "Sara, be careful out there tonight." Knowing Sara would not like it if he made her stay at the lab that night.
"If I see Bryon I will call you. Okay?" Sara tells Grissom knowing he was worried about her with good reason since Bryon now knows that she is alive.
They get up out of the chairs and head for the break room knowing that they are going to be questioned especially since they figured that the team had heard Sara's outburst earlier. They were right.
Catherine, Nick and Warrick look at the pair as they enter the break room. "What is going on, Gil?" Catherine asks from her seat at the table.
"I will explain it all to you, later." Grissom looks at Nick, "Nick, I was wondering can everyone meet at your house after shift and I will tell you guys what is going on. There are too many ears here. I don't want anyone to overhear what I need to tell the team."
"Sure Grissom, whatever you need." Nick looks at Grissom and then Sara curious as to what is going on, he wonders if his worst fear was about to come true. Were Grissom and Sara now in a romantic relationship and going to tell the team? He sure hoped not. Before the night was over he would wish that the news was anything but what it was.
