I compared some other TV show to PLL and the result is depressing towards PLL.

English is not my native language so it's possible that there are grammar mistakes.

Let's compare other shows to Pretty Little Liars. Many of you would say they are in completely other categories but all of them TV shows with storylines, writers, and characters. So let's start the comparison:

The characters of the Walking Dead are actually has character development. I will highlight one character from each TV show. From TWD the character I'd like to highlight is Carol Peletier. She has the most significant character development in the show. First, she was one of the weakest people in the group of survivors but later on, she got stronger. She had a violent husband and she had to deal with the loss of her daughter. Her character development is so amazing process. She actually became an important and very useful person in the group. If you don't believe me then you better look it up.

The character who I'd like to highlight from PLL is Alison Dilaurentis. She's a very complex. First, we see her as a Queen Bee of the town, then we see that she is a brave girls who is able to hide from the big villain; A. We see that she actually can love people for example Emily Fields. She also goes through a terrible time in a jail but she can deal with it. However, in 6A her character gets a significant character development. That means her whole personality change. She becomes the weakest and useless character on the show. According to PLL creators, the character development means that they give Alison a new personality, which is totally not like her. Also, people on PLL can't get character development if they aren't in relationships; Paige couldn't become less of a bully if she would not be with Emily or Alison couldn't change into church going bimbo without Officer Soft Bones Grandpa. However, most of the times there's no character development like with Spencer Hastings because once a druggie always a druggie. Emily had a nice character development until it broke into pieces in the first episode of 5B, from then it just breaks more.

PLL creator, Marlene King had a statement: PLL is not about ships. However, the main characters are always have love interests or in relationship. That means they have a tormentor: A but still they have a whale of time to deal with their love life because if something is wrong in their love life then who cares about that A can hurt them. Basically, the 99,9% of the show are about relationships and ships.

Thank God, TWD creators don't make the show around ships and relationships all the time. It would ruin the show because let's imagine: Maggie and Glenn breaks up so the group gets separated: Maggie's friends, Glenn's friends. Sounds terrible! I bet if Marlene would run this show too then it would happen. TWD is really not about ships and relationships but still has millions of more significant scene for the couples, friends and family.

Writing in PLL is terrible: the episodes are getting boring, some of them are pointless and there's a lot of thing which is not explained and perhaps never will be and it doesn't seem to care the writers. Terrible! Plot holes, plot holes everywhere! They are making a plotline and suddenly they drop it because...God knows why. Personally, I think it's because of the terrible writers of the show.

While with South Park, the creators only have 6 days to create one episode, the outcome is a masterpiece each time. I as far as I know PLL writers have weeks to think about the storylines and episodes and the outcome is mostly horrible and BORING (like the new "hetero church going, almost housewife, doesn't care about that night with Emily, only cares about Officer Soft Bones Grandpa) Alison D."

I'm actually very angry about that they destroyed Ali's character, as you can see. I mean, just for a minute, let's imagine my favourite South Park character: Eric Cartman becoming a saint and a useless character. He's far from being a saint but he doesn't have to be one, nobody is. I love the way he is.

Now let's discuss the finale episodes. PLL promos are like to exaggerating it so much but when you watch it, you feel you just wasted your time on that shit episode. Sometimes they show A but it turns out that the person it not really A. (Stupid and boring idea and they repeated it) The writers of PLL seems to be very creative.

Let's compare it to Buffy The Vampire Slayer finale episodes. When I watch them I always have a catharsis because and it doesn't matter how many time I have seen it. Same with TWD finales, they make me emotional and make catharsis feeling. But sitting through a PLL finale is pure torturing for me (Boring as Hell).

Buffy The Vampire Slayer's creator, Joss Whedon killed twice the main character of his show but fortunately in that show they bring her back with magic. PLL creators killed Mona, even showed her dead body. Somehow, she was still alive later. I don't think that magic happened in PLL. As far as I know the writers didn't even bother to give an explanation to this, only the actress said maybe Mona was drugged but I don't think so. She was 100% dead. It's just lame writing.

I started watch this shit show because of Emily Fields. She seemed a likable character and I only cared about her. Then I started shipping Emison, not just out of the blue, the writers made them kissing for a couple time and they have chemistry too. The writers made me think that Emison is going to be a real couple. However, they crushed all of my dreams about that when they brought in Officer Soft Bones Grandpa and Nutjob. They took Emison away from me. So there's nothing good left in PLL for me, so I'm done with the show!
