SARA'S PAST

CHAPTER THREE
Previously
"I will explain it all to you, later." Grissom looks at Nick, "Nick, I was wondering can everyone meet at your house after shift and I will tell you guys what is going on. There are too many ears here. I don't want anyone to overhear what I need to tell the team."
"Sure Grissom, whatever you need." Nick looks at Grissom and then Sara curious as to what is going on, he wonders if his worst fear was about to come true. Were Grissom and Sara now in a romantic relationship and going to tell the team? He sure hoped not. Before the night was over he would wish that the news was anything but what it was.
"Okay, assignments, Nick, you and Sara have a 419 at the Tangiers, Warrick you have suspicious circs at a residence, the address is on the card and you and Catherine have paperwork." He leaves the room but not before he tells everyone he would be available if anyone needed him. They wonder what he meant, but as they look at Sara they wonder if those words were directed to her.
Catherine gets up from the table and follows Grissom out of the room. "Oh joy, paperwork." Catherine wonders if she can get what is going on out of Grissom. She thinks maybe she should wait if he was worried about anyone at the lab overhearing him.
"Nicky, I am driving." Sara says as she leaves the room to go get her kit.
Nick gets up off the couch to follow Sara to go get his kit but, turns to Warrick when Warrick puts a hand on his shoulder. "I don't know why but be careful out there tonight. I have a feeling that whatever Grissom has to tell us is bad. I don't know why I feel that way but when he came into the break room tonight, I got a good look at his face and he looked worried. You don't often see emotion with Grissom so it had to be serious so watch out for yourself and for Sara tonight."
"Okay, Warrick I will be careful." Nick leaves the room and goes to the locker one to get his kit and Warrick watches as Nick leaves and realizes that he needs to get going himself. He walks to the locker room to get his own kit.
After shift everyone agrees to meet at Nick's one hour after their shift. Nick is getting some drinks together when the doorbell rings. He opens the door to find Sara there and notices she looks nervous. He wonders what is going on. He noticed during their shift that Sara was nervous, before Nick can ask her what is going on the doorbell rings again and he knows he has lost the opportunity to talk to her and find out what was going on. Maybe she would stay after everyone left. He would ask her now before opening the door. "Sara, can you stay after everyone else has left?" Nick asks her,
She looks at him and nods her head and he opens the door to find Grissom there. Grissom walks into Nick's house and ask Sara, "How are you doing, Sara?" which confused Nick all the more.
"I'll be fine, Griss. You don't need to worry, I'll get through this." Sara told him, knowing that Nick is confused and wants answers. She turns to him and tells him. "Nick, I know you have questions but let's wait for everyone to get here and then I will explain."
"You will explain?" A confused Nick asks, Grissom asked if they could meet at his place and it now sounded like Sara is the one that needed to tell then something.
"Yeah, it's about me, that is all I can tell you until everyone gets here. I can't explain what is going on more than once. I will stay afterward so we can talk, if you want me to after you hear what I have to say." The doorbell rings again and Nick answers the door more confused and worried than ever. Greg is on the other side of the door this time. "I didn't know you were coming Greggo." Nick tells him.
"Grissom told me to come here after shift was over. Do you know what is going on?" Greg asks, curious as to why Grissom wanted him there.
Nick looks behind him and notices Grissom and Sara together over on the other side of the room talking softly so no one else can hear them. "Not a clue man." Nick wonders what they are talking about, he turns back and lets Greg in the house. Nick shuts the door and tells Greg that there is soda in the fridge. Nick is about to go over to Sara and Grissom curious about what they are talking about that has Sara looking really worried and anxious, when the doorbell rings again. Warrick and Catherine walk in followed by Brass. Nick is really confused as is everyone else in the room. He tells everyone to grab a soda out of the fridge if they want one.
After everyone has a chance to get a soda, Catherine is the last to come back into the front room and sits down next to Warrick and Brass who is also sitting on the couch. She looks at Sara and Grissom, who is in deep conversation and she decides to interrupt them. "What is going on Gill, why are we all here?" Catherine says interrupting Sara and Grissom who looks at Sara and asks again in low tones if she wants him to do this, to tell the team what is going on. "No, I have to do this." Sara tells him taking a moment and then she opens her mouth to tell the team what is going on and why they are there.
