Chapter XIV- the landlord

"Women's instincts are not to be ignored."

"But think on the other side, the information we gathered, it's not enough for knowing that a man who owned twenty-five percent of the capital city's land is the murderer of the victims!"

"Very well, do you think it's a coincidence that the murders are conducted within the realm of his land? In this big-as-hell city?"

Katt, although at the driver's side seat, talked impulsively and furiously. Ignoring Wolf's manly and logical analysis and confrontation.

Soon they arrived. It was the party of the landlord's friends and employees. Since their market value has raised up monstrously these days. The landlord decided to throw a party for all of them. Not mentioning, they may meet who they needed: the lover's killer.

They parked beside the entrance. But Wolf was still hesitated about this issue.

"We cannot do that. We are not even invited to the party. Besides, there won't be a possib..."

"Just go! You stupid-ass-grey-piece-of-a-fur-ball!"

Wolf felt provoked. But before he can respond his unpleasant feeling, Katt already said quickly: "We will go in immediately."

Wolf had no choice but to go in.

When they went in, Wolf appeared a bit uncomfortable.

"What's wrong?" Asked Katt.

"Lights...too much. Music...too loud. It's too much. Banging my ears without mercy."

Turns out, when Wolf looked at the notice board, it's actually the landlord's daughter who was hosting the party. The guests are actually her friends. Those that all have dyed hair, nose rings, earrings, all of them. The landlord's daughter has some inappropriate friends indeed. Wolf then deduced that the landlord did not want his daughter to gather too much attention. So he lied to the broadcast that he is having a party instead of his daughter.

The party was quite a show-off. Party lights are everywhere. Shining the ceiling with the colors of the rainbow. The music was rock and he thought that it was too unpleasant. Moreover, the people there did things. Smooching, kissing, some even turned their heat up. As Wolf saw that some tails are being raised up high. Feathery, scaly and furry. All raised up diagonally. But Wolf cannot mind that much. He just wanted this to get over quick.

He told Katt to follow him. Which made her appeared skeptical.

"You sure that you can take the shots this time?"

Wolf, half-fainted, said yes.

There was a security at the stairs that can go to the upper floors. So Wolf went to ask him:

"I'm here to see Mr. Lane's daughter. Do you know where she is?"

The guard then asked him harshly. "Upstairs. You're her friend?"

"I am a PI that wanted to..."

"Miss Lane did not want to see anyone who was not invited. Now, get lost before I take my carbine out."

Wolf, seeing this, told himself and the ready-to-explode Katt to walk away from the guard.

"What now? PI?"

"We'll think about it..."

"Hey there, partner!" Suddenly a voice went out at Wolf's left. Alerting the duo.

"Who the hell are you? Mister?" Bolted Katt. Exploding finally.

"What you talk 'bout? He was my middle school friend." Said he. Turning to Katt. He then turned back to Wolf. And said:"You still remember how we put a drawing pin on the teacher's seat? That made him jump to the air."

Wolf knew that he was a good and diligent student and would not do such things. But an idea then popped out of his mind.

"I'll go check in other places. Take care, will you?"

"Yeaahh." Said he man.

As Wolf walked away quite quickly, there went a gross cat.

"Do you even realize what you are doing?"

"Relax. I have a plan. I'll draw the guard's attention. Just stay here, and follow me when I give you my signal.

Wolf then walked back to the man, who was drinking more beer from his bottle.

"That guy over there. He told me your mom is a slut and does nothing but cheating your dad."

"Waaat? I'll get rid of him!" Said that man in a drunk voice. When raising up his fist and walked towards the direction of which Wolf has pointed.

"Holy Vodka." Thought Wolf. "This actually worked."

Getting to the person which Wolf told him to, that man pushed that person.

"You...calked my mom as a slat!"

The person was confused. But a punch was thrown.

Soon it turned into a fight. And the guards went to handle the situation.

Wolf then walked up the staircase. Telling Katt that she can come up too.

"You are smarter than I thought." Said Katt. Who finally had a satisfied look on her face.

"No worries." Replied Wolf. "Now let's find Helen Lane."

Wolf, impulsively, went to the room which said: guests only. And opened the door. Alongside Katt.

When they opened the door, a person turned its head. It was the suspect.

"Shit. The guards are doing nothing. Who are you guys anyway?"

Before Wolf can ask anything, Katt, impulsive with her mouth again, went:"Is this how a rich man's daughter is like?"

The room is quite a catastrophe. Sex toys are everywhere, scattered on the ground. The television on the wall was playing inappropriate movies. However, at least, Wolf felt more comfortable here. He introduced himself and his partner.

"Private Investigator Wolf O'Donnell and my partner Katt Monroe. I am here to ask you a few questions about the lover's killer case."

Helen then stood up. And walked to Wolf. Trying to scare him with her fierce aurora.

"I am the lover's killer, you hear me?"

She said as she pointed at herself, then pointed at Wolf after she finished as he stepped back a bit.

"Investigators like you should think about it before you try to suspect anyone."

"I am only..."

Katt went up then punched Helen in her face. She fell down. This made her spit blood from her mouth. And before she can scream, Katt pounced on her and is ready to punch again.

"If you are the lover's killer, then why did you do this to all of them?"

"Katt, stop! I order you!"

Yelled Wolf suddenly, with Katt turning her head to look at Wolf, and Helen who has blood at the side of her mouth.

"We're here to get information, not to take revenge!"

"But Wolf..."

Helen sought her chance.

"GUARDS!"

This had made the two looking at Helen, and Katt instantly stood up and stepped back a few steps.

The door broke open. And a few men in black suits carrying pistols appeared from the door then have their guns pointing at the two's heads. Katt slowly raised her hands up. But Wolf tried very, very hard to hold his fear. As he used his determined eyes to look at Helen.

"Good. We'll go."

As Helen told the guards to put down their guns, Wolf then told Katt to come with her.

Katt, who was furious, but regarding the situation, gave Helen a sharp look of grudge. Then went away as Wolf told her.

When they finally went out, Katt angrily asked Wolf:"Had you been out of your mind? Are you just letting the killer go like that?"

"She isn't the killer." Said Wolf, checking his pocket for his gun. Making sure his did not been taken away from the guards. "Too incoherent to be the killer. Our next clue will be in the cemetery."

"Why did you need to go there? Smarty?"

"You'll know why."
