Chapter XXII O' Donnell shootout
Wolf went out for a little walk just then. And told Katt to stay home.
When he came back, he was surprised that the door wasn't locked. Plus feeling an adequate amount of heat.
Opening the door, he can only see Katt pointed at the head with pistols. The guards are the same ones with the last encounter.
"I'm sorry, Wolf." Said she.
"Mr. O'Donnell." Said Helen Lane's father. "You sure are a good investigator. Unfortunately, my daughter as a suspect to you and your pink, witty-mouthed partner, is not a good thing for her father. I will never let her go to jail."
As he waved his hand, one of the guards went in from the door and electrocuted him with his stun gun.
"Argh!..." he yelled before he went unconsciousness.
When he woke up, he found that he was in a starship. But its engines were off, and his hands were tied.
Looking at his surroundings, he found that his partner was strapped in the right seat.
Getting the rope off himself is an elementary job. But to her perhaps it is not this easy.
He tried to wake her up. Shaking her. But her head only moved by the direction he was shaking her.
"Katt! Katt Monroe! Wake up!" He tried to wake her up by shaking her even greater. But there is little to no avail.
Wolf told himself not to be desperate, and instead tried to scan his surroundings, looking for a plan to escape.
There are now in the high Coneria orbit, 1000km from Coneria planet surface.
Wolf then noticed that there is the symbol of the Earth Federation inside the ship.
"Great. Every Earth Federation ship has an auxiliary generator. Hopefully, it will power us back to Coneria."
He then started the emergency engines, and piloted back to Coneria. He felt that as if it was the second time he drove a spaceship. He drove badly, almost crashing at the satellites. And he forgot how to do the maneuvers he managed to do long ago.
When he went down to the surface, he landed on the spaceport of Coneria Capital City. After a little procedures, and saying that Katt was only fast asleep after alcohol, they successfully went back to safety.
Katt, waking up, did not know what happened.
"Why don't you call the team? Or you must have your own forces."
"Do not mention my team ever again. Plus my past made me a public enemy in Coneria. So after a year of being a police lieutenant, I was forced to get out of the force. Damn Fox and Falco..." he said he first sentence loudly, then whispered the last four words.
"You stay home. They should be gone by now. I will get them myself."
"No! I will come with you!"
"So be it..."
At the Lane family's house. When the night seems to be peaceful and calm, the guards heard a rev of an engine.
Wolf, alongside Katt, was pressing the gas pedal while still at neutral gear for a few times.
"You got your assault rifle ready?"
"Yes. Let's rock!"
Wolf then did a burnout, and rushed forward. Perfectly shifting every gear.
He went straight through the garden to the garden glass to the living room. While the guard was thinking who would arrive with style like this.
Of course, the guard was killed. And the car bumped right into the wall after shattering the glass window a little while ago.
The guard upstairs knew the situation, and called for backup. Of course, killed by Katt's FG (Fallschirmjägergewehr, paratrooper rifle) 80 right after he finished his sentence.
Wolf went out, carrying a Conerian made A-10 rifle.
"I thought you said you wanted a Conerian weapon!" Thought Wolf.
More guards are incoming, and the two found for cover. The wooden cabinet which has bulletproof glass to protect the collectibles inside.
"Watch out for the flash bang, Katt!"
As he pulled one out from his pocket inside his coat, and threw it out.
The guards were then stunned, and Wolf took them out with single fire. All headshots.
"Where'd you get your flash bang from?"
Wolf did not really mind her question. He just wanted to get up quickly.
"Bought them in the gunsmiths in the Earth Federation. Watch my back with your rifle."
They then acted like elite teams. Shooting everyone everywhere.
Wolf did not take a shot. But one time Katt was careless at the stairs, she was shot once by the guards.
"You alright?"
"Nothing. Kinetic damage. Let's continue moving!"
They quickly went inside the owner's room. And Mr. Lane is there standing and trembling, for he is bloody scared carrying a pistol.
"Do not come near! I will shoot!"
But he missed for the recoil made his hands went up too much.
"You can't even control your recoil." Said Wolf, grabbing him, then slammed him down on the ground.
"Tell me everything you acknowledge, now!"
"Please, just do not kill me!" Said the man. Begging.
Wolf let go of the man, and he continued.
"My daughter, Helen. She always wanted to have fun, eh? So she grabbed the kid and sink him to the storm drain a little too long. But, that kid did not breathe anymore. She cried and cried... She was really sorry about this."
"Then why to put flowers on Jennifer Morrigan's grave?"
"I own the land which she died on, poor girl, isn't she?"
Wolf then think he had what he needed. And went away. But the man aimed at Wolf and decided to shoot.
"Die!" Yelled Katt. When she fired her rifle to the man.
The man was heavily injured after a few shots, but not dead.
"He tried to kill you with his pistol! Do you see that he still have it in his hands?"
Wolf believed her.
"Alright then. Thank you, but let's go! Before cops arrive and accuse us!"
It was still raining. But the tempest is not as strong as before. Satellites saw that the tempest cloud is going away from the capital city.
Getting home, he told Katt to pack up her personal belongings, and set off to the Earth Federation.
"Why do you want me to go to the Earth Federation?"
"It's already too dangerous. You may consider this as a travel experience. You will arrive in Taipei Intergalactic Spaceport, make good use of the two thousand Conerian dollars I gave you. Alright?"
They then hugged. Hugged before she leaves. Both felt the warmth between their bodies. She did not know his true identity. Two years ago, he witnessed something, then he started to act. Trying to find the one, who is just like him.
