She had decided to ignore the small and ever fading voice in the back of her mind that told her she wasn't good enough, that something must be wrong due to the closeness of their bodies, the sensation of his breath on her skin, of the pitter patter of her heart beat as they sat together, wrapped under a blanket as the sun began to set. She wanted to be enough, to be his and to be happy, the thought struck her as he pushed a strand of wet hair from her face, his boyish laugh in response to the soft blush that appeared on her skin even apparent under the bit of color the sun had given her. It wouldn't be enough, and she knew that, but oh how she wanted it to be, to slip back to the time where it would have been enough, where her scars didn't exist and her ribs didn't show; that was all he wanted, when he saw her eyes he was able to wish that someday it would happen, that he would be enough for her to see how truly beautiful she was and how precious she was to him, and he wouldn't give up, would only continue to try and show her what she meant to him.

Laney leaned back onto the blanket, her arms pulling the plush fabric up and around her body as she turned her gaze to him, "thank you." She smiled, for the first time it seemed genuine, her eyes sparkling as she looked into his. It wasn't often that she was able to find herself enjoying being alive and it felt good, her conscious had quieted, her scars had disappeared, and she was able to feel joy and happiness again, something that she had believed to be forever lost. Her head turned back, leaning against the sand and staring into the ever dimming sun.

She felt his body shift next to hers before their skin once again made contact and his arm was wrapped around her. "I'm glad you were able to enjoy yourself Lanes." He spoke calmly into her hair, "I hate it when you're always so...upset." He struggled to find the right word to describe her, and still wasn't satisfied with the result, she wasn't just upset, she was done, lonely, scared, pained, and so much more that she tried desperately to make look effortless, but struggled with more than anyone could possibly know.

Turning to him, she couldn't help but smile, hearing him speak so openly and freely was something that didn't happen nearly often enough, she pressed her lips against his cheek, only for a second before smiling up at him again. "I really mean it Corey, thank you, for everything, you still haven't given up on me, despite everything that I've said and done. I really appreciate it, you still believe in me, even if I don't, and that means so much to me." Looking away her smile fades as memories of their past flow back into her head, swimming behind her eyes.

His hand presses against her cheek, pulling her gaze back to his. "I've told you so many times Lanes, I won't let you go through this alone, you'll never be alone. And I mean it." Slowly at first, he presses his lips to hers, carefully, as if testing the water; their lips mold together, fitting what she thinks to be perfectly together, her small hands wrapping into his hair pulling him closer.

Gently, her thumb rubs over his lips, stopping him in his tracks, "my phone." She mumbled, still only centimetres away from him, before turning and digging through her bag. The screen lit up, revealing the long list of missed messages from the twins. Sighing to herself she held out the phone for Corey, as the incoming call flashes before her, taking it from her hands he held it up to his ear.

"Hello?" Pushing up onto his forearm he keeps on hand around her shoulder, making sure to keep her close. "Yeah, this is Corey, no Lanes is right here, I just got to the phone first." He listened as the voice rose, loud enough for Laney to be able to hear a low murmur. "Yeah, sorry about that... no my phones been on silent, we just heard Lanes go off." Sighing he was silent for a moment. "Yeah I know, we'll meet you there in a bit, bye." He pressed the screen and handed it back to her, sighing and leaning back onto the sand with her. "We have to go, the park's closing and we only brought one car."

Lightly he kissed her cheek before standing up and repacking the bag he brought, only wishing that it could have lasted a little longer.
