Once My current Beta Cain O'Phelan is done editing I will re-post the revised version. So enjoy.
Chapter 15: Aftermath/Epilogue
The four figures that have defined the System's Alliance throughout the Saren Crisis and the Battle for the Citadel are standing in a small undamaged area of the Embassies waiting for their meeting with the Council. They are hoping for some form of acknowledgment that the lives lost were not wasted. That Humanity has shown that it was worthy of a Council Seat. The whispers of Udina, Anderson, Hackett, and Shepard quiet as the Council approaches with a C-Sec escort. The leaders exchange pleasantries as the guards look around nervously, the Council was not happy with the amount of damage and death their rescuers caused. Add into the fact that they did not leave much evidence of their technology behind has made everyone very nervous.
Tavos begins, "The Council owes Humanity a great debt. For those who have fallen in the defense of the Citadel and for saving our lives we could not be more grateful."
Valren continues, "Despite actions that clearly deserves a reward. We must clear up the matter of the Imperium. They also claim to represent humanity and have technology that is troublesome."
Sparatus finishes, "we were going to present the Alliance with a seat on the Council but after seeing the needless destruction caused by humanities other representative the Alliance will face and investigation to see if it has any ties to the Imperium. If any are discovered expect sanctions and further punishments."
With that their businesses concluded the Council leaves. Shepard is the first to recover, "Those God-Damn Son of a Bitches. We risked and lost human lives to save the galaxy and their worthless asses and now they deny us recognition of our triumphs."
"I can't believe I am saying this but Shepard is right," Udina chimes in, "We need a plan to deal with not only the Geth and the Reapers but now the Imperium and the Council."
"I think we should focus on building our forces up and expanding our control in the Terminus Systems. We all saw the power of one Reaper and the Imperium. We need to get a lot stronger is we are to survive the coming war," remarks Anderson.
In agreement Shepard says, "Yeah. I just can't believe that Cerberus and Terra Nova were right. The Council and what they stand for are a load of crap. They are trying to keep us under their thumb. I think we should consider working with the Imperium."
Hackett listening to the rest of the argument ends the debate with simple orders, "It will take time but I think that the Parliament needs new leaders. Leaders who understand the threats of the galaxy. Udina, I want you to resign your post. In a few months I think there will be several openings on the Alliance Parliament. Anderson, consider the Treaty of Farixen annulled. I want you to covertly build up the fleet till we can take on the Turians. Shepard, you are still a Spector, expect a lot more mission to further the Alliance's goals in Citadel Space and the Terminus Systems. Well gentlemen we have crossed the Rubicon. I hope we will live to regret this action."
They thought their plotting went unnoticed but a man dressed in an expensive grey suit worn under rich black robes with gold embroidery that bear a capital I with a winged skull smiles. He takes a drag of a cigarette as his very blue eyes are alight with options. He stares at the dying star in front of and says quietly, "Ave Imperator. Hominis Aeternus Eternus Dominus."
