Yay, we made it to 70! Thanks for your help. I own nothing and enjoy the chapter.
Piper's POV
I was strolling around Camp Half-Blood when I came upon a peculiar sight. Chiron, mentor of heroes and looked up to as a father from most of the campers, was crying. A small brown haired girl was with him, crying as well. She didn't seem to know why Chiron was crying too, but j can't be sure.
Jogging over there, j called, "Hey! Are you guys okay?"
The little girl looked up. "No! He's still gone, and something awful's happened! He killed them, he killed them, he killed them!"
The girl fell to the ground and sat wailing into her hands. Chiron looked up too.
"I didn't know. I-I could've stopped this. They'd still be here, if only... If only I had said something. I could've warned them. I could've saved them. I-I can't."
Chiron galloped off, tears streaming down his face and onto his tweed jacket he wore.
I knelt next to the little girl after Chiron left. "Hey, it's okay. I'm sure he didn't kill anyone. Who is he?"
The girl sniffled. "M-my best f-friend. Percy J-Jackson."
I gasped, but quickly recovered. "I'm sure Percy didn't kill anyone sweetie. You know him, harmless. Unless, we're talking about his enemies?"
The girl shook her head so fast I think she almost got whiplash. "No no no no no. They-they..."
"Who were they honey?"
"Camp counselors. War heroes, twice. Titan War and Giant War. Athena and Hades. I-I forget their names."
A weight settled in my stomach. "Annabeth and Nico? Annabeth Chase and Nico diAngelo?"
The girl nodded. "Y-yeah. That's what she said their names were."
"Who did?"
"H-Hera, she visits me at night. Last night. Sh-she told me..."
The little girl burst into tears again. I sighed. Just when I thought we were making progress...
"What's your name sweetie?" I asked, as nice as I could.
"D-Daisy," the girl, Daisy, stuttered.
"Okay Daisy, why don't we go back to your cabin and talk to your siblings? Maybe they could help?" I suggested, thinking that this girl's siblings could handle Her better that j could.
That made Daisy cry harder. "No! No no no no! Please, Rosie will get mad at me! She hates Percy, and always tells me so! Please, anywhere other than my cabin!"
"Okay Daisy! We won't go back to your cabin! Okay? Why don't we go to my cabin?"
Daisy looked at me. "Where's your cabin?"
"I'm in Aphrodite's cabin. Can we go there?"
Daisy took a break off her crying and looked at me. "Could we go to my friend's cabin? Her name is Autumn."
"Who's Autumn's parent?"
"Astraia, goddess of stars."
I thought about it. "Why don't we just go to the Big House? I don't want to intrude on another goddess's cabin. We could get in big trouble for that. But we can always find Autumn and bring her with us, if that's what you want."
Daisy sniffled and nodded. "Okay. Let's go find Autumn."
"Do you know where she'd be?" I didn't want to run around camp on a wild goose chase, searching for a small seven year old girl.
"Probably on the roof of her cabin. She likes to sit up there and wait for the stars. Or just picture them in her mind, while its still sunny. Or some other weird thing. I bet she's up there though," Daisy said smiling. I smiled too. She's so cute when she isn't sobbing.
"Come on Daisy. Let's go find Autumn," I said, grabbing her hand and leading her towards the cabins.
It didn't take long to find the Astraia cabin. It was blue-black, the color of the predawn sky. There were glowing dots painted all long it in different formations, making the constellations in the night sky. It didn't look like much in the light of day, but I bet it was the most beautiful thing at night. Like the Artemis cabin.
"This is it!" Daisy announced once we stood in front of the starry cabin.
"Okay. Can you call your friend, or do we wait and hope she just turns up?" I was joking with the last part, but Daisy took it seriously.
"We call her of course. We'd be waiting forever for Autumn to turn up if we just waited."
Rolling my eyes slightly at how literal small children are, I asked when we'd need to start calling.
"Now if perfect! AUTUMN!" The little girl yelled. For such a small structure, she sure has a powerful voice. I'd think she was an Aphrodite char speaker almost, if I didn't know every Aphrodite camper we have.
I helped call too. "Autumn! AUTUMN!"
Soon, a small head appeared over the side of the roof. "Autumn Gail?"
I looked to Daisy, who nodded. "Yes," I told the person.
"Be right there." The head disappeared momentarily, before it appeared again on the neck of a body, standing right in front of me.
Autumn Gail was a short girl, blonde-haired with a light blue streak running through it on the left side, her hair reaching past her shoulder blades. Blue eyes peeped out through stray stands of hair in her face. As I watched, a hand with a tattoo of a star on it brushed these loose hairs away.
The small seven year old caught me looking at her hand, and answered my unspoken question. "It's a temporary tattoo. My sister Brianna drew it for me." I nodded, blushing because she caught me staring.
"Hi Daisy!" Autumn greeted her friend.
"Hi Autumn! Wanna come to the Big House with us?"
Autumn shrugged. "Sure. Who's she?" Autumn pointed to me, and Daisy looked at me too. It was then that I realized I had never introduced myself.
"Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite. Savior of Olympus/Greece/the world in the Second Giant War. Member of the Prophesied Seven." I gave a mock bow at the end of my introduction. "At your service girls."
Daisy was at a loss for words.
"Cool," Autumn said. I internally frowned. Nothing gets past her huh?
