Everything Changes
"What do you MEAN you're here to help me? You're Kyoufu Oni aren't you?"
"Actually I'm not. My brother and I were a part of Kyoufu Oni from the moment we were created by Naraku."
"NARAKU? YOU MEAN HE'S STILL ALIVE?"
"No." She said calmly. "He is well dead. He created us just before you destroyed him, and we were created to kill you."
Inuyasha fell silent.
"I will explain everything if you like."
He looked at her with a suspicious frown, keeping his setsaiga close and ready. "Sure go ahead."
"Kyoufu Oni was created with three heads, including me, but the middle head was the master. Naraku knew that if we were to be cut off that we would grow our own bodies. He thought that this was a good tactic but what he didn't realise is that we have our own wills once we are separated from Kyoufu Oni."
"Wait, so you mean that you and that other demon head have minds of your own? So in spite of what that green head wants you can do whatever you want now?"
The demon nodded.
"So why are you here?" Inuyasha continued.
"I'm here because I want to help you Inuyasha. I do not like what Kyoufu Oni is planning on doing. You see, since we were linked physically and psychologically I know what he is planning. I am here to tell you that you and your family must leave immediately!"
"Why? What is he planning?" Inuyasha frowned and raised his sword still not trusting the female demon.
"When we met in that meadow we were on our way to your home. He plans on destroying it and using your family against you."
There was a long pause as Inuyasha pondered this, clearly shocked.
"You must leave as soon as possible before he comes back."
"Wait hold on a minute! Didn't his head get cut off? We killed him so how could he come back?"
"When you cut his head off Inuyasha, it will grow back. What is worse is that the severed head will also grow back a new body. So now there will be two of him!"
"WHAT!" Inuyashas jaw dropped. "How the HELL are we supposed to defeat him?"
"There is a secret to defeating him Inuyasha, but I must tell you in private. I can't risk anyone else finding out or he may try to stop you from attaining the powers you need."
"How do I know I can trust you?"
"You don't, but you have no choice, now do you?"
Inuyasha glared at the demon. "Prove that what you say is true and THEN I will believe you."
"Very well." She turned to walk into the forest. "We must go to the meadow where you defeated Kyoufu Oni, THEN you will believe me."
Surely enough they made it to the meadow and where the demon had been slain there were no heads or body. Inuyasha inspected the area where Kyoufu Onis body had fallen and where his head was. In the grass where the head was he could see that the grass was pushed below the neck as if a body had in fact grown there. There were also tracks leading away both from where the head and the body had lain giving evidence to what the female demon had explained. The maroon coloured head was also missing with tracks leading away.
"Where is your Maroon headed buddy?" Inuyasha asked.
"I don't know where my brother has gone." The demon replied simply.
"Why don't you call the green head pig your brother?"
"My brother and I never liked Kyoufu Oni. Beside from having our own brains we also always had our own hearts. Kyoufu Oni knew this. His own greatest fear was that someday we would be severed from him and turn against him."
"Well," Inuyasha smiled smugly and scoffed, "now his greatest fear has come true!" He felt great pleasure in the fact that they had caused such a disadvantage to the horrible beast!
He suddenly turned to the female demon. "So what will happened to his second green head? Does that one also have three dam heads?"
"I am not certain." She shook her head sorrowfully. "I am sure that the severed green head will only be just that, a one headed beast. But Kyoufu Oni's original body will regrow the other two heads in time."
"WHAT? That mangy demon will regrow two more dam heads!"
She nodded. "It will take three days for them both to grow back. The other two heads never grow back as quickly. Naraku informed us of this on the day of our birth. Though this is the first time it has actually happened."
Inuyasha decided to trust the female demon, she had given him more than enough proof that she was in fact on their side.
"So what about your brother? Will he be as keen to help us?"
"I cannot say." She replied, "I am sure he will not join Kyoufu Oni at any cost so you are safe there."
Kagome stared as Inuyasha and the demon walked down the path together.
"Who is she Inuyasha?"
Inuyasha and the demon explained everything to her. Kagome felt light headed and fell to her kneas.
"What? We have to leave? But this is our home!"
"Do you have any relatives or friends you could visit for a while?" Asked the demon.
"I guess the only place you could go is with Sango and Miroku and their family."
"No Inuyasha! Aren't you coming too?"
"I'll have to stay here and take care of this Kyoufu Oni bastard!"
Hotaka walked out at that moment and froze in shock, "IT'S THE DEMON AGAIN KAZUKI! GET OUT HERE NOW!"
"RIGHT I'M READY!" Kazuki ran out of the front door, his claws ejected ready to kill.
"No boys." Kagome said breathless, still in shock. She pulled Kazuki towards her and gently wrapped her arms around him. "She is a friend now."
After everything was explained the boys calmed down and were told to go back to playing while Inuyasha and Kagome planned their trip to Sango and Mirokus place. The children were oblivious to the fact that they will soon be living somewhere else; at least until the demon problem is fixed. Koga arrived later that night and was filled in. So it was decided. The next day the children and Kagome would leave to the west while Inuyasha stayed to fight Kyoufu Oni. Koga decided that he and his family would be moving away permanently.
"I'm not having my son anywhere near demons like this! I'm not risking losing him!" He said.
Inuyasha and Kagome sat down with the children and explained everything to them.
"It's ok." Kazuki said, "We can still visit and play with Hotaka right?"
"Yeah, yeah!" Amaya agreed.
Kagome looked sorrowfully at Inuyasha.
"I'm sorry, but you won't be able to see each other for a long time."
Their smiles faded as they looked at her. Tears began to fill Amayas eyes.
"We won't be able to see Hotaka anymore?" She sobbed.
Kagome shook her head sorrowfully. "Hotaka and his family will be moving to the North West, while we will be moving to the East to live with Sango and Miroku. Hotaka won't be moving back though, Koga has decided to move away for good."
Amaya ran away crying, the boys stared in shock. They couldn't believe that it had all come down to this. Being separated!
"We will only be moving back here when Kyoufu Oni is defeated, and your father is staying to make sure that this will happen."
"Please don't stay daddy!" Kazuki started to tear up, "I don't want to go!"
"You have to son. It's for your safety."
"But today we kicked his butt! We can handle it! Please don't let Hotaka be taken away either! Why can't we stay together?"
"This isn't good bye Kazuki." Inuyasha said, "You will see Hotaka again, just not for a long time."
Hotaka stood there frozen while Kazuki burst into tears, "It isn't fair!" he said while running away.
Hotaka looked up at Inuyasha, he couldn't even muster a tear. His shock was so deep rooted. He was not only going to lose contact with his best friend, but with his crush as well. Everything was changing, and he couldn't bare it.
Inuyasha saw it all in Hotakas eyes, the pain that the rest of him could conceal, but not his eyes. For the first time, Inuyasha wished that Amaya and Hotaka didn't have to be separated.
The next morning they got all their packed things into a wagon and they were gone.
