New Friends
Amaya stared at the landscape, she couldn't bear to think about Hotaka and tried to forget him but it was impossible. Every time a simple memory lingered into her mind her eyes would water more. How long would it be until she saw him again? It was too unbearable to think about. She feared that it would be years before she saw him.
She peered over to Kazuki who was staring in the opposite direction. His eyes were glazed over with what looked like a white mist, covering the true feelings buried deep within.
"Mum," He finally spoke, "When are we going to see Hotaka again?"
Amaya turned away at the mention of her crushes name.
"Like I said before Kazuki, I don't know. I'm sure Inuyasha will sort everything out."
Kazuki fell silent again.
It was a few days before they reached the home of Sango and Miroku.
The children had never been to their home before, and the only time they met Sango and Miroku was when they were babies. Understandably they weren't going to see them often if they lived so far away.
Sango and Miroku had four children. The eldest was a tall girl about 8 years old, with long pony tails and looked a lot like her mother. The second born was a boy about 7 years old, who had dark brown hair and soft brown eyes, Kagome told the children that he looked exactly like Sangos little brother. The third born was a small girl about five years old. She had short hair and her fringe curved to one side, she looked nothing like her parents. It was assumed that her physical traits came from her grandparents or even her great grandparents. Her personality was much like that of Sangos father, or so that's what Kagome was told. The fourth wasn't born yet, when Kagome got off the wagon Sango walked steadily over to her old friend with her arms stretched out ready for embrace. She was about 8 months pregnant.
"How is Inuyasha?" Miroku asked with a smile. "We were not expecting you, how are you all?"
Kagomes spirits sizzled very quickly. She looked up at Miroku over Sangos shoulder. "Something terrible has happened." She said, tears beginning to fill her eyes.
Sango gasped and pulled out of the embrace to look Kagome in the eyes. "What happened?"
"We have come here to ask you for your help. The children and I need somewhere to stay for a while."
Kagome then proceeded to tell them everything.
"Of course you can stay." Miroku said. "Anything for an old friend."
Amaya and Kazuki had stayed in the wagon the whole time waiting for Kagome to tell them that it was alright to come over. They were very shy children when it came to people they didn't know very well.
After sometime of discussion Sango looked over towards them.
"Is that Kazuki and Amaya?" She gasped.
Kagome nodded and then went over to the wagon.
"And this is Jirou." She picked up the young boy and brought him over for them to see. "Come along Amaya and Kazuki it's alright." She said looking back at her shy twins.
"How old is he?" Sango gasped and smiled excitedly.
"He is six months old." Kagome was glad to be talking about something other than the reason for them coming.
Kazuki walked over cautiously gently holding Amayas hand and pulling her along behind him. She was holding her little hand up against her mouth and blushing furiously.
Miroku bent down to meet the children eye to eye. "Well hello there." Amaya gasped shyly and hid behind Kazuki. "It's alright." He smiled, "I'm a friend, my name is Miroku, and this is Sango." Sango looked down at the shy twins.
"Hello there." She smiled sweetly. Amaya looked up at the pretty woman and smiled back. She liked how gentle and sweet Sango was and felt immediately comfortable with her.
"I want you to meet our children."Miroku said to them. "Come on out." He said looking behind him.
All three children walked out. The eldest seemed comfortable with meeting new people and skipped out towards them, the young boy was a little shy though and the youngest girl walked casually over to them.
"These are our children, Sen (he said pointing to the eldest), and Yuko (pointing to his youngest daughter) and this is Hiku. Their son blushed and waved.
After introductions took place they all went inside for some dinner. "I have some money to help pay for food." Kagome offered the coins to Sango who smiled and accepted the money.
The meal they had was spectacular. Amaya and Kazuki had never seen so much food before. There was a lot of roast meat and vegetables and many Japanese dishes. That night they went to bed with a full stomach. Kagome and the children were very lucky that Sango and her family had a large house with a spare room and that they were very well off when it came to wealth.
Kazuki laid in his bed thinking about everything that had happened lately. It was all so sudden, and he didn't like such a huge change in his life. But he still hoped and prayed that everything would go back to normal as soon as possible, and soon enough he fell asleep.
