Wrath's POV
Percy laughed, and I let out a chuckle. After another minute of silence, I stretched out my hand to my... Brother... On the floor. "Wanna hand? Let's go see the others."
Percy took it and I helped him up. "Let's go."
I smiled and said something that any sane person would've classified as crazy, it coming from me. "I'm with you... Brother."
Percy looked at me in shocked happiness, then we walked together out the door, the cursed steel blade lying back on the floor.
I let Percy walk out of the door first, because I had no doubt that the others would be waiting in the hall to see if he was alright.
I was right.
As as soon as Percy stepped into the hall, he was attacked like a worm on a hook. I stayed hidden in the shadows of the room, waiting for everything to calm down before making my presence known.
"Percy! Oh man, are you okay?" One of them asked, I think it was Jake.
"I'm fine," Percy mumbled, trying to look incognito. And not all at like he's been crying his eyes out two minutes ago.
Not everyone bought the act. "Dude, were you crying?"
"Alex!" Jake hissed. "Don't say that! What is wrong with you Alex?"
"Sorry," Alexander muttered. Percy shrugged.
Somos spoke up now. "It's fine to cry."
He he had obviously been crying too. His eyes were red, faint trails of tears were on his cheeks, and even more tears were splashing at the rims of his eyes. Percy looked extremely similar, except his eyes were more red and his tracks were more pronounced on his face. They could've been twins though.
Percy nodded, and looked towards the doorway I was in. He must've realized how awkward this was going to be, because he decided to introduce me.
"Hey guys?" They all looked at him. "When I was in there, a friend came to me and saved my life. He's here now, but he's a little scared."
The others looked a little puzzled, but nodded anyways. "Do we know him? What's his name?"
Percy sighed. "Yeah, you know him. You all should know him. I won't say his name, but I do have to ask you one thing. Do you all promise to follow the rule I have?"
No one hesitated. "Sure."
"Okay. Please don't attack him. Come on out dude."
I stepped from the safe shadows of the doorway into dangerous waters. The three brothers stared at me in shock. To real the silence, I lifted a hand and said "Hey."
My brothers one by one also raised their hands, stopped from rushing at me only by the promise percy had them make. A chorus of flustered "Hey"s greeted me, and it was at that point that I knew this was going to be a long conversation.
Percy, sensing the tension, tried to make it better. "Um, why don't we all go into this room right here? We'll explain."
Everyone nodded, and we made our way into a small room across from the room I had just been in. This room was about the size of a kid's bedroom, the kind they have when they're small and don't have as much junk as a preteen or teenager. The walls were painted to look like a fire, blood red at the bottom, orange in the middle, and yellow at the top. The brown trim looked like wood, which completed the feeling of being in a fire. Thankfully, the temperature was normal, so it didn't actually feel like a fire. There was also a table set up in the middle of the room, with several chairs set up around it. This room must've been used as a dining room or meeting room.
We each sat down at the wooden table in a brown chair, Percy at the head, and I to his left. At his right was Somos, Jake, and Alexander respectfully. There were enough chairs that none if them had to sit next to me.
As I sat down, I received many a glare. It took all my willpower not to retaliate. Shame Percy didn't notice. He could've yelled at them.
I slapped myself at that thought. I'm not here to hurt anyone. They're my brothers. They know most of my secrets, most of my life story. I'm their friend now.
"Hey Wrath?" Alexander asked, a confused look on his face. I nodded, to show I was listening. "Why'd you just slap yourself?"
My face turned pink. I actually did that?! I thought that was just an internal slap! Gods, this is embarrassing. And how am I gonna tell him without lying or making it seem like I was up to no good?
Again, Percy saved me. "I'm sure theres a good explanation, but if we don't hurry with the story were gonna run outta time! Unless you'd all rather hear the story of why Wrath slapped himself."
Jake and Somos immediately shook their heads. Alexander asked, "Why do we have to hurry? It's not like we have someplace to be."
"Actually, we do. Since P-Peter isn't in control," Percy said, his voice breaking, "we need someone else to be in control. We have about two minutes from now for someone else o get in control, or else the heart will be too weak to start again, and we'll all go to Hades."
Alexander paled. "Oh, okay. Let's stop that from happening."
"I agree." Percy smiled, despite what he had said ten seconds ago.
"Didn't we come in here for a reason?" Jake asked.
Percy smiled and nodded. "Yes, yes we did. Now, who's ready for a story?"
