Wrath's POV (not as short as yesterday's, but we're gonna be alternating POVs a lot so try not to get confused.)
My wishes were not to come true. Two seconds later, after he turned around, percy leaned back. Free-falling through the sky, his eyes stayed closed and his mouth in that infuriating smirk.
Trying to get my mind to cooperate with the water, I concentrated as hard as I could. My skin tingled but nothing happened.
Glancing up at Percy, who was still free-falling, I realized that I wouldn't be able to help. I'm a failure.
I can't do it.
Defeated, I let my arms fall to my sides, a sure sign of my defeat. I can't do it. I'm a failure. Hanging my head low, I stared at the water swirling around my feet. In my depression, I didn't notice that I was dry. If I had, I might have kept fighting.
A sudden shout from the shore of the lake drew my attention. "Wrath! WRATH!" My head turned to face the shouter, and I was surprised. Alexander was calling me, the brother that hates me the most. "Wrath!" He yelled, "Keep fighting! You can do it!"
Something in Alexander's voice made me pick up my arms and position them as if I could control the water. I didn't know what to do after that though, so I stood there like a moron.
"Close your eyes! Be the water!"
I closed my eyes and pictured the water swishing around my feet. Flowing, splashing, moving as one, a delicate yet sturdy force. Strong, yet meak at the same time.
Yells at the shore almost broke my concentration. "You're doing it Wrath! Don't olen your eyes!"
Deciding it was probably best for my eyes to remain closed, I believed Alexander. Honestly, I'm not sure how much time passed before I felt someone standing next to me. I didn't open my eyes though until told.
"Dude, don't freak. Now you're going to slowly open your eyes, but keep being the water. Don't stop being the water," the person next to me whispered. Slowly, I obeyed.
My eyes lifted open to see the truth if Alexander's words from the shore. I'm glad I'd been warned not to freak though. A pair of watery hands had formed off of my own arms, but I hadn't felt it. They had moved, catching Percy from the sky. Now, percy was still sitting on the at dry hands, but he was next to me in them, as if I'd moved them there so we could easily talk.
Im very very very glad that id been warned of something before opening my eyes. I would've freaked, as predicted, and dumped Percy into the lake. But I still can't believe it.
I did it. I can control water.
Now this, is what I'd call peachy. Just without my usual sarcasm.
Alexander's POV (why'd he help Wrath if he hates him?!)
For the record, I knew he could do it. Here's how it went down though, in my view of awesomeness. Plus, I'm pretty sure you've never see anything from my side, so this is a good experience for you. I can only assume how excited you are to hear about everything I see and do! Here's how it went down:
1) Wrath and Percy got into positions. Percy had a smig smile on his face that I think I'm the only one to notice, while Wrath looked torn between soiling his pants, puking, and passing out cold. Or option four, all of the above.
2) Percy jumped, still smugly smiling. Wrath looked like he was going to explode into flames any second, or at least he expected himself to.
3) Wrath tried to control the water, then ended up giving up, letting his hand fall to his side.
When I saw the guy that i thought was all powerful and strong give up, I felt instincts kicking in. I had to help him, even if I had grown up hating him. So I commanded Wrath in the ways of the water, andbe caught Percy just in time.
I have to admig, it was pretty cool.
But why didnt Wrath control the water himself from the start if he could so clearly do it?
Percy's POV (last POV of today)
My plan was a success. In case you haven't read anything else here, and are just skimming to the bottom of the page for whatever reason, Wrath did it. He controlled the water and saved me from crashing into the lake. I would've been fine, it's only water after all, but it's the thought that counts I guess.
After climbing down from the water hand Wrath had created, I helped him walk towards the land. After all, Alexander still had to catch someone. That gave me an idea.
Once back at shore, I had everyone gather around. "Alexander, it's your turn to catch. And you'll be catching... Wrath. Good luck you two."
Protests rang out. I kept my smug smirk on my face, even if it had more of an annoyed feeling to it.
Alexander complained, "But what if he's still evil? I don't want to have to catch him!"
Wrath whined, "But he hates me! He'll make me fall!"
Jake and Somos backed away. Poor Wrath and Alexander, they were too busy arguing to notice that I was about to explode.
