Family Reunion
Amaya pondered her discoveries yesterday. She had an aunt and a cousin! Why wasn't she at least told about them? She was told by Rin that her father and his older brother didn't get along, but still she was upset that she never at least got the chance to know them before.
She convinced her brother to come with her to the forbidden forest where they lived. Tanaka also came as well and was leading the way while Amaya and her brother were having an argument.
"I couldn't let my frail little sister go to the forbidden forest alone now could I?"
"I'm not frail!" Amaya protested and punched Kazuki in the shoulder.
"Ow!"
Amaya smirked. "Told ya! And it's not like I'm your 'baby sister'"
"Yeah you are! You were born five minutes after me!"
"So what, that's just a measly five minutes! I'm not a baby!" She pouted.
"Sure you're not." Kazuki teased while he grabbed her cheek and shoot it.
Amaya hit him so hard that he fell back a meter. She laughed smugly at him before he yelled at her and began to chase her; they easily bypassed Tanaka who was about a mile in front of them before.
Tanaka stopped on a tree branch just to watch them fight like wild dogs. Kazuki was angry, his pride hurt that his own sister could bash him that way while Amaya only laughed.
"Guys, I thought we were meant to be looking for your aunt?"
The two of them stopped fighting, frozen in awkward fighting positions but then relaxed and replied together. "Oh yeah, sorry about that."
The sound of a snapping branch distracted them; they all turned around to find a demon staring idly at them. His hair was long and silvery, his eyes golden, he had pointy ears and a moon on his forehead.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my forest?" The demon lazily but icily demanded.
Amaya and Kazuki turned to him and the demon stuttered. He had the same look of recognition in his eyes that Amaya saw yesterday in Rin.
"You wouldn't happen to be Inuyashas' older brother would you?" Amaya felt odd having to say her father's name instead of just 'Dad.'
"Yes I am, and who are you? Are you his children, Amaya and Kazuki?"
Amaya hesitated before answering, she found her father's older brother pretty intimidating. "Y-Yes we are, and we have a younger brother, Jirou."
"Hmm, interesting." The demon relaxed his gaze and became much less frightening. "My name is Sesshomaru. Rin must be expecting you." Amaya could tell that Sesshomaru wasn't fully comfortable with this; she figured that he must have disliked her father very much. "Follow me," He began but then turned to the boy with them and said, "and who is this?" His glare returned.
"This is my friend Tanaka." Amaya said cautiously. "He was with me yesterday."
"So it would seem." Was all Sesshomaru said in reply, and then turning away he began to soar towards the north.
The others followed him and could barely keep up, he was very fast and somehow Amaya could see a resemblance in him to her father. The way he jumped from tree to tree and even the way his silvery hair –much like her father's- flowed in the wind behind him.
When they arrived all was silent. This place was not where Amaya and Tanaka had been before. It was very beautiful and flowers bloomed everywhere. It seemed that this place was untouchable to anyone but a demon for no human could have entered this place due to its protective spell.
There was a small cottage in the centre of this beautiful place that looked very similar to Amaya and Kazuki's old home. It made Amaya tear up a little as she began to see an old memory in her mind's eye of her father running up to her and Kazuki as children.
"Are you alright?" A soft voice echoed through the memory and brought her back to reality. It was Rin.
"Oh-Y-yes I'm alright." Amaya lied. Rin's expression saddened and Amaya guessed that she knew what Amaya was thinking about.
Over Amayas shoulder Kazuki looked at Rin with a suspicious look. He still wasn't a hundred percent sure about this.
"So... you're our Auntie huh?" He said in an almost stern tone of voice.
"Oh!" Rin was startled out of her thoughts. "You must be Kazuki! Y-yes I'm your Aunt. My name is Rin." She bowed politely and awkwardly. 'He is so much like their father, Inuyasha.' She thought.
Kazuki stared innocently at her for a few moments before his stomach growled. "You wouldn't happen to have anything to eat by chance?" He asked awkwardly.
Rin smiled sweetly, "Come inside, I was just making some lunch before you came." And she directed them into the cottage.
Everyone sat down for stew that Rin had just prepared when her daughter, Nira, walked inside.
"What are you doing here?" She demanded rudely. This was the first time Amaya had heard Niras voice. It was a little hoarse and boy like. Not elegant and soft like her mothers and didn't suit the voice of an "Empress."
"These are your cousins Amaya and Kasuki and their friend Tanaka. Please be more polite." Rin looked at her daughter and frowned slightly.
"Yes mother." Nira said only looking at Rin. She walked around the small wooden table and sat down on her own as far away from the others as possible.
"I was hoping you would come today," Rin began, "That's why I made extra stew, I had a feeling that you'd be here."
The stew was delicious and Amaya found Rin to be very sweet and charming, but her daughter not so much. Nira stayed distant and silent for their whole visit. Sesshomaru was also silent and stayed outside in the forest but showed no rudeness when in the presence of Rins guests.
"Rin's alright." Kazuki said casually to Amaya when they were on the way home and once Tanaka had gone his separate way.
"Yeah I really like her!" Amaya said smiling and Kazuki smiled back.
"She's a really good cook I'll give her that much! But I didn't like that snotty little brat... What was her name again?" Kazuki turned to Amaya.
"Oh, her name is Nira."
"Yeah that one! I didn't like her at all."
"Yeah she was a little standoffish. Maybe she never sees people that often so she doesn't know how to act around people she doesn't know well?"
"Maybe... But I still don't like her very much."
"We should get mum to come along next time! It's nice to know that we have family other than our mum and younger brother." Amaya had a sparkle in her eye. "Maybe Nira will soften up too and we could be good friends!"
"You were always the more optimistic one." Kazuki smiled at his sister.
When they got home Kagome was waiting for them, she seemed to have something important to say.
"What is it mum?" They both said in unison.
"It is almost time."
The two siblings looked at each other, confused expressions on their faces, and then looked back at their mother.
"Almost time for what?"
"Almost time to pass on the tetsusaiga."
Authors note: I hope you all have enjoyed my recently updated chapters! I am planning on drawing some pictures of Amaya and Kazuki in the future, you can look at them if you go to and look up "DracoJane7" which is my penname on there. I have already drawn one picture of them but it's pretty old. I will be working on new chapters for "The Meadow" as well so don't worry! :P
