A Furious Father!
In the morning Amaya and Kazuki waited patiently for Kagomes reply letter. They chatted amongst themselves but Amaya just couldn't shake off this horrible feeling she had in her gut when she then turned to look at the sunrise and saw something white in the distance.
"What's that?" Kazuki said raising his hand to shade his eyes from the sun's rays.
It took Amaya only a few seconds to figure out the answer.
"Oh my god... It's Sesshomaru!"
"WHAT!" Kazuki exclaimed gawking at his sister. "How did he find out where we are?"
"I TOLD YOU it was a bad idea to say things like that in the letter!"
"But I didn't think he would FRIGEN RUN ALL THE WAY OVER HERE AMAYA!"
Before they finished arguing Sesshomaru was already in the valley below them. Amaya looked at Kazuki and said, "Go find Suzuki and hide him!" He nodded in reply and shot off.
Amaya however went directly towards Sesshomaru. She admitted to herself that she found Sesshomaru quite intimidating and she needed to make sure he wouldn't do anything crazy.
Sesshomaru turned to Amaya when he noticed her approaching. "Amaya, where is Nira!" He demanded icily and glared in her direction but Amaya could tell by the look in his eyes that he wasn't assuming that it was HER who was responsible.
She then took him to where Nira was resting.
The doctor stared at Sesshomaru terrified but Sesshomaru took no notice of him. His eyes were resting on his sick daughter breathing heavily in her sleep.
"What.. Happened?" He growled through his teeth.
"I-i- U-u." Amaya stammered. Sesshomaru was already scary to her when he was calm and normal but now he was more furious than she had ever seen him and she was terrified of answering. "S-s-she got mad at some guy a-a-and t-transformed."
The room became icy cold.
"Where-is-he?"
"Oh, h-he left. H-he was so scared of Nira that he ran out of the village and we haven't seen him since." Amaya lied.
Sesshomaru gave no reply.
"Who is this?" A voice said from behind Amaya. It was Hotaka.
Sesshomaru's eyes glared in Hotakas direction.
"It's ok Hotaka! This is Sesshomaru... He's my uncle."
Hotaka looked from Amaya to Sesshomaru and back again.
"And who are you?" Sesshomaru was calmer now but his voice was still icy cold.
"I'm Hotaka, son of this village's chief, Koga." Hotaka replied feeling a little on edge.
"Very well." Sesshomaru replied before turning back to look at his daughter. He then noticed his sword the Tenseiga resting next to the bed and picked it up. "She must have taken it when I was asleep." He pondered to himself.
Silence fell for a few moments before he turned to the doctor and added. "When will my daughter be well again?"
This was the first time Sesshomaru had spoken to the doctor and he replied hesitantly "S-she will need bed rest for about a week, Sir."
"Then that's how long I will be staying."
Amaya looked at Hotaka, he was frowning deeply when Sesshomaru said this and sat on the seat next to his daughters bed.
Hotaka then walked out of the door before Amaya excused herself and followed him.
"What's wrong Hotaka?"
"I don't like him." He replied bluntly.
Amaya looked up at Hotaka surprised. "But, you only just met him."
"There's something about his eyes... I don't trust him!"
He kept walking up towards the cave at the top of the cliff.
"Where are you going Hotaka?"
"I need to tell Father that your Uncle has come to our village."
After Koga was informed it was evident that he too didn't like the idea of Sesshomaru staying in their village, but they had no choice since his daughter was going to be sick for a week. Koga decided that it would be best to show Sesshomaru some hospitality and went to see him and offer him accommodation.
The others however were helping the village people rebuild the houses that were damaged during Niras rampage. Amaya saw Kazuki on top of a roof hammering some nails into wood planks, and Yuko pulling a wagon full of supplies and decided that she too should help.
Amaya was about to lift a wood plank to hand it up to a villager on his roof when someone grabbed the other end of it.
"Would you like some help?" Hotaka grinned. "A girl can't handle this on her own."
"I can too!" Amaya pouted.
Hotaka chuckled, "Just kidding, but let me help anyway, it'll make it easier for you."
So for the rest of the day Hotaka and Amaya helped each other with repairs to various houses in the village.
"By the way Amaya." Hotaka began as they were finishing up. "Why didn't you or Kazuki tell me that you had an Uncle?"
"Oh, we only just found out ourselves about a few months ago." She replied. "Sesshomaru is dad's older half brother."
"I see." He replied and after a long pause added. "Do you trust him?"
Amaya was taken aback by this question. "Yeah, why wouldn't I?"
Hotaka didn't answer and just kept walking beside Amaya in silence. He didn't trust or like Sesshomaru at all and wanted to keep an eye on him.
"Now Amaya." Totosai began. "Is the day you will use the Tetsusaigas FireIce power!"
"Really? About time!" Amaya said cheerfully.
"Okay, I want you to hold the Tetsusaiga in front of you and to visualise it burning. Feel what it would be like if it was ablaze."
"Alright." Amaya nodded and held the sword in front of her and took a few deep breaths. She concentrated, blocking everything else out and before she knew it she slowly opened her eyes and the blade had blue flames licking around it.
"Good good!" Totosai said. "Now I want you to cut that dead tree over there."
Amaya turned towards the tree and struck it with her Tetsusaiga, and watched it as vicious flames consumed it before it then froze over to look like what would seem like a pretty ice sculpture.
"Good job, good job Amaya!" Totosai praised. "It's good that you're not hasty and have more patience than Inuyasha. You're a very pleasant student to have."
Amaya thanked Totosai heartily before turning to find Sesshomaru as their audience.
Totosai followed Amayas gaze and exclaimed. "Sesshomaru! When did you arrive in the village?"
"Yesterday, actually." His voice was quiet and flat. He was staring at Amaya and she could tell that he was thinking about his younger half brother Inuyasha.
"Is something wrong?" Totosai asked.
"No, nothing." Sesshomaru replied before walking away.
"He's always been kind of mysterious..." Totosai pondered quietly to himself.
That night Amaya decided to visit Nira again. She had been checking up on her a lot since she fell sick, but today the person she found sitting beside her bed wasn't Sesshomaru.
"Suzuki, what are you doing here?" Amaya enquired. "You know you shouldn't be here."
"I know... but..." His voice was quiet and sorrowful.
Amaya sat in the chair beside him and watched Nira breathe deeply but steadily in her sleep.
"I'm the one who did this to her." Suzuki said looking down at his feet.
She didn't reply to this because she knew that he was right and could think of nothing to comfort him.
"You better leave soon... Before Sesshomaru comes back. I don't want to risk him figuring out that it was you who made Nira sick."
Suzuki nodded and walked out of the door with his head hanging low.
Amaya staid with Nira for half an hour and then proceeded to walk out of the door before Kazuki stopped her dead in her tracks. He had an excited look on his face.
"What is it Kazuki?" She said irritably.
"You're not going to believe this!" he said with a childish grin on his face. "I was talking to Totosai just now and he said that he would forge me a sword like the Tetsusaiga!"
