Hello! I hope everyone is doing good! I'm wonderful, if you wanted to know. I'm getting my wittle baby Rosie on Thursday! :D Rosie is not an actual human being, she is a turtle. If I ever mention a baby, it is most likely an inanimate object or an animal. I hope that I won't have a child until I'm about 23 to 30 maybe, and that's about ten years away. So yeah. My poll is up, and I own nothin! You should probably enjoy this chapter though, because that'd make me feel even better.

PS: Um, j feel kinda awkward asking this, but does anyone know anything about the Energize WIP Awards? I know next to nothing, and I'd really like to know more. If anyone knows, leave me a PM or review. Thanks! I really appreciate it.

Pat's POV

Anne stepped away from the wall, and addressed the crowd. "Who would like to test the ropes and climb the hole first? Please step forward."

At first, no one moved. Then a boy or about age fourteen stepped forward. "If like to prove my worth to the girl I love by climbing the wall first."

A girl with short black hair and brown eyes grabbed at his arm. "John, you don't have to do this! I love you, you should know that."

John shrugged her off. "Your parents don't know that. I'll be fine Irene. Step back."

Reluctantly, Irene stepped back.

"John, I will tie this rope to you, so that way once you reach the top others will be able to climb up the rope. Are you ready?" Anne asked.

With one last glance at Irene, who shook her head as if begging Him not to do it, John nodded his head. "I'm ready."

Anne looked to me. "Get him ready?" I nodded as John approached me.

Taking the the piece of rope and tying it around John's waist, I tried to make some small talk. "So, you and Irene huh?"

He chuckled. "Was it that obvious?"

I shrugged. "Only a little."

John smiled, then wrink led his face up in a frown. "I don't know if I'll be able to get back to her. I love her so much."

I looked him straight in the eye. "Do you love her as much as she loves you?"

Confused, John nodded.

"Would you sacrifice anything for her?"

Not even hesitating, John nodded.

I nodded my head, accepting something. "Bring Irene over here. I have a way to keep you two together. You'll make it back to her."

He looked apprehensive. "You won't hurt her? She'll be okay?"

I nodded.

"I'll go get her."

When John returned with Irene, I checked to make sure Anne wasn't watching.

"Alright," I urgently spoke softly, "I can help you."

"How?" John asked incredulously.

"I work undercover for an Olympian and his girlfriend. He told me that it was his girlfriend's wish that every couple of family stuck together, and that it wasn't their/my fault if you broke up. So, I'm going to use my blessing to protect you two. I can't risk it."

Irene and John gasped. "But... You're so pudgy. How can you be able to protect us? And how are you an undercover worker?"

"Secrets. But, I'll use magic to place a protection charm on you."

They nodded.

"Do you both agree to this?"

Two nodding heads.

"Do you two love each other more than life?"

"We do."

"Would you do anything to protect your partner?"

"Of course."

I nodded. "Finally, j have to warn you. This protection will bond you two together for eternity. If the other lives and breathes, if you aren't with them for over a day you'll feel weak and powerless. You can ever break up or seperate. Is that okay?"

A pause. Then, at the same time, they both answered "Yes".

Checking once more that Anne wasn't watching, I lifted my arms to the sky and started to pray to my employers. My hands started to flow yellow, and I high river myself.

"You two, you need to be kissing in order for this to work."

Although they seemed hesitant, they embraced and passionately kissed. I took my glowing hands and placed one of each Aztec. They shone with a pink aura for a moment, then it faded as they pulled apart for air.

And that hat was when Anne approached, calling for John. "Are you ready?"

Irene and John answered in unison, "Yes."

Anne nodded and turned away to make sure the role was secured to the ground. John took the opportunity to give his fiancé one last kiss before they'd be in a different world. Then, breaking apart, John pushed Irene away and ran over to Anne. She gave him some instructions I couldn't hear, then started to climb the rock surface.

Unable to tear her eyes from her lover, Irene asked me out of the corner of her mouth, "Are you sure he'll be okay?"

"Definitely. If it weren't for my employers, id be dead right now. They saved my life, and gave me the ability to save others' lives. I put my soul in their hands. Besides, if anything happens to John while he's climbing, my life will be taken as payment. I've promised that you and John will be safe. If you aren't, then I don't deserve to live, to be able to harm others."

Irene gasped in surprise. She was so startled that she managed to turn her gaze from John to stare me in the eyes. "Really? That can't be true."

I shrugged. "It is. But it's not a big deal. As j said, I have complete faith in my employers. They'll guide me. If I am fit to die, then they'll lend me the wrong prayer."

"That's awful!" Irene exclaimed.

"I'm still here though, so they must be fond of me," I laughed. Forcing a chuckle, Irene joined in.

After a very short moment, our attention returned to John. He was about three-fourths of the way up the wall now, very close to the end. We cheered him on, as did the rest of the crowd.

Until his hand slipped, and his foot fell. He was hanging on my the toe of his sneaker and the tips of fingers.

Irene screamed, a sound nearly deafening me.

And then his other foot slipped. Only hanging on a hand now, three-fourths of the way up the wall. A fall from there would kill him instantly. And quite possibly me as well.
