Hello! Hope everyone is doing good! My last day of school is tomorrow. I can assure you that I'll be crying my eyes out in my bedroom or on my couch at home tomorrow. I almost cried in school yesterday when we cleaned out our lockers. Then I saw a bug, and I didn't feel like crying anymore. I was too busy screaming for help instead, and killing the poor insect with my smelly flip flop. Many of you guessed what Thalia's wish was, and what hades has grabbed. I guess I'll let you see if you were correct. :) My poll is still up, there's not a lot of time left to vote! Hurry if you're gonna do it. I own nothing, but please enjoy the chapter.
Percy's POV (dun dun dun!) (which POV should I do next? Percy, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, or Hecate?)
Suddenly, with a pop, the black power rods ended and flew back into Hades. Said God fell backward, unconscious from power loss. The two objects Hades got were sprawled on the floor. I looked closer, and recognized them.
Black hair. Gray orbs.
"Percy? Is that you?"
My my eyes were popping out of my head. "A-Annabeth? N-Nico?"
They stood up shakily. "What's going on? Where are we?"
"Olympus," Athena gently spoke. "To be exact, you're in the Olympian throne room."
"But how did we get here? We were just in a castle..."
"That'd be my fault," Thalia said, not looking at all guilty. "Sorry. I thought you two would like to be alive, and not dead. But you can always go back if you want."
Annabeth, finally standing up, walked towards Thalia and threw her arms around her neck. "Thank you! I knew we were dead, but some people (cough cough Nico cough) refused to admit it. Apparently, he thought he could sense it if he himself died."
"It's not my fault! How was I supposed to know?" Nico pouted.
"Well son," hades spoke, "I did tell you that. When you were learning your powers."
Nico mumbled something about not paying attention. Almost everyone laughed. I did not.
Annabeth saw saw that I wasn't laughing. "Percy? Are you alright?"
My eyes met hers. They were a darker shade of green, and she gasped. "I've changed. I'm quieter. Smarter. More serious."
"That much is obvious."
I just stared at her. Eventually, it unnerved everyone, and they called for a change of subject.
Zeus boomed, "Percy Jackson! I do not believe you ever got your wish!"
I nodded. "I request the presence of Hades, Poseidon, Hera, and Hecate outside."
Said immortals followed me outside. Most, if not all, were no doubt wondering what was going on. I would answer all their questions soon enough.
Once outside, they closed the doors and turned to me. All of them were shocked to see tears in my eyes.
"Percy? Son?" Poseidon asked gently.
"What's wrong Percy?"
"Are you alright?"
I didn't nod or shake my head or give any answers. Instead, after a minute, I whispered, "I don't like who I am anymore." When no one said anything I continued. "When I was 'choosing' who I was going to be, in the deep dark cave, it seemed like a good idea. But now that I'm living like that, i want to go back."
"What's the problem then?" Hades asked.
"No problem there. I can change it. But, I need to get a burden off my shoulders. I have many personas. They all want a chance to live their life in their own body, instead of sharing one. I agree. For my wish, I'd like to make all my personas (except one) into actual people."
"I still don't see why I'm needed," Hades mumbled.
"One of them died." They gawked at me.
"How?"
"It's complicated. But he was my best friend. He took a knife for me, and got killed. It would've been my knife, but he shoved me out of the way and took the knife instead. The knife came from Thalia. But that doesn't matter, not really. All I care about is getting my best friend back, and finally getting able to hug my brothers."
They stared at me. Then, Hera, of all of them, spoke up. "I say we do it."
All our eyes shifted to her, and all mouths dropped open, even mine. "What?"
"You can't be serious."
"This is stupid."
Poseidon, Hades, and Hecate (respectfully) spoke as their mouths closed after looking at Hera.
Then I spoke up, and they all shut up. "I might be able to see my brother again?" My voice crackled mid-sentence, and hope filled it.
Hera poked her siblings and Hecate. "Why do you crush a child that's given so much to help us?" She looked at me now. "What have you sacrificed for Olympus? Answer honestly."
"Um, I gave my family. My friends. My memory. My safety. My mortal life. My demigod life. My sister/best friend. My secrets. My personality. My brother. My girlfriend. My cousin. Almost all of my material objects. My love. My faith. My pride. My humanity." I listed off thing after thing, and I saw the three immortals look down in shame. "What else? Oh yes. A few times, i even gave my hope."
Hera gently grabbed my arm, which surprised me. I guess everyone can change. Not just mildly emotionally challenged demigods. She leaned down and whispered in my ear, "I'm going to take them on a fast walk through Olympus, and try to turn them in our favor. It'll be just a minute, but I think it best you stay right here. You'll be fine, just please don't go back into the throne room yet. They'll ask too many questions, and I don't want you to deal with that alone. In the meantime, try to change your personality back, if that's what you want as well."
I nodded, and watched as Hera took the elbows of Hades and my father. She led them away, with Hecate following. I stood there, closed my eyes, and tried to go back.
