Chapter 13 Angel's POV
I sat in Master Makarov's class on Magnolia History as I began to dose off. "Dang. I should have slept last night." I thought as I closed my indigo eyes thinking about why I didn't sleep last night. "With all these deaths it's hard to sleep. Why and more so how are they dying in their sleep." My brain was in overload.
"Angel, are you alright?" Master Makarov asked at the end of class. "I just didn't sleep last night, Master Makarov." I said as I pushed my white bangs out of my face. "I see. Those death around town have gotten to you too?" He asked as he stood on his desk at the front of the room, close to my desk. "Unfortunatly, they have." I sighed softly. "Angel, it is not unfortunate. You have a heart and you care about people. That is why these deaths are bothering you so badly. They bother a great many more than just you. You're not alone." He smiled at me. "Gee, that makes me feel tons better. I don't want to be alone in this, but I don't want anyone else to feel so drained and worried about who would be next."
"Go home and get some rest, Angel." Master Makarov said as I got up to leave the class. "Of course. I will try after sipping on some Chamomile tea." I smiled as I slid my book into my backpack. "That is a good idea! That should help. If nothing else you could go and see Porlyusica and see what she tells you." He suggested with a smile. "Thank you, Master Makarov. I will go see her if I have any trouble." I said as I waved good bye. Thankfully it was the only class that I had that day.
I took my time as I walked back to my car. "Angel! Angel! Wait!" A man called while he ran over to me. His hair maroon and his eyes black. I set my books in my car and turned to the man. "Cobra, hey. What's going on?" I asked not having to try and smile. "Angel, I have been wanting to tell you something. I finally have the courage to say it to you. So, please. Let me get it all out." He said slightly out of breath. "Cobra, how far did you run to get to me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "From Makarov's class." He smiled at me. "Cobra, why didn't you say something sooner?" I asked feeling bad because I hadn't noticed him.
We stood there and looked at each other before he moved closer to me. "Co-" I started, but was stopped by his lips pressing to mine. I was shocked. I had not realized that he felt that way for me. It took me a moment to realize what all was going on before I relaxed into the kiss and kissed him back. "Well, It wasn't said Cobra." I chuckled as we broke the kiss. His cheeks flushed with color. "Angel, I uh. I really like you and want to be an official couple." He smiled at me. "Wow. How did I not notice how completly adorable he is before now? He has a great smile and hasn't tried to touch me in a wrong way. Why not?" I thought to myself. "Cobra, I would love to be official with you." My cheeks turned a little pink.
Without a word he leaned forward and kissed me deeply, filled with such passion. "So, I will see you later then?" Cobra whispered against my lips. "Yea. I don't have another class today, so I am going to go home and get some sleep. Text me, okay? We can go to dinner or something." I smiled as I slid my number into his pocket. "Okay. See you tonight." He grinned before he kissed me one last time.
I got in my car and cranked it as I watched him walk away. I smiled and shook my head as I back out of my parking place. The apartment complex was five minutes from the school, so it wasn't a long drive to get home. With a sigh I parked my car in the number that matched my apartment number. With the feeling that someone was watching me I turned my car off and walked up two flights of stairs to get to my apartment where there was a note on my door.
The note read:
"Angel,
There is a packet in my office for you. Someone said that they didn't feel safe leaving it on your doorstep. So, come on down and see me.
Maya"
"Oh! Good. They came in. I still don't know why they just won't meet me in person. Sheesh. It isn't like I bite or something." I thought as I walked back down the two flights of stairs to my landlord's home and office. I found the door with a brass one on it and knocked loudly. "Comin'!" She said loud enough to be heard. I could hear her as she walked towards the door. Maya is a single mom of three and tries to support them the very best that she can. "Oh! Angel, come on in." Maya said when she opened the door with her youngest on her hip. "Thanks, Maya." I smiled as I walked into her apartment/office. She chuckled as she put her baby in the playpin and turned back to me. "Not a problem, Ang. You got my note I take it." She smiled as she picked up a small box off her table. "Yes, I did. Thank you for taking it for me." I replied as I took the box from her. It was taped shut still, which meant she had not snuck a peak at what was inside the box.
"Hey, Ang?" Maya asked as she took a step back. "Yea, Maya?" I replied as I turned my indigo eyes back to her. Maya stands at five foot nine, a year round tan, curly black hair and brown eyes. "What is in the box?" She asked softly, almost wishing that she hadn't asked the question at all. "Well, it is for a case that I am working on with the Magnolia police department. That is all that I can really say." I said as I wrapped one arm around her to give her a hug before I left. "Ahh. I understand. So, I will see you when rent is due next week?" She asked as we released each other from the embrace. "Yes, I will run the payment down to you next week. I gotta go. See you later." I said as I walked towards the door. "Great. See ya, Ang." Maya smiled before she closed the door behind me.
My walk was a little bit slower and that feeling was still there, but I tried to ignore the feeling. I took the note down and unlocked my door to go inside my apartment. "This is getting old. I need to solve this case so that the world can go back to the way that it was before all this started. Uugghh. Dreams." I thought to myself as I walked in and locked the door behind me. My apartment has cream carpet with a lighter cream colored walls. My couch sat against the far living room wall the color of forest green and a chair to match on the wall across the room. I took a deep breath as I opened the box.
My breath caught in my throat when I removed the lid. On the very top were pictures of the victims from the murders. Or what we were beginning to think was murder. "I am going to have to bring this to Master Makarov. With the guild helping he would know what to do." I said as I put the lid back on the box before walking into my kitchen to make a glass of Chamomile tea.
Withing five minutes I had my steaming hot mug of Chamomile tea as I walked up yet another set of stairs to get to my room. Not able to hold it back I yawned as I took off my school clothes before I opened my top drawer to pull out a white lace night gown. I slipped into my gown and threw the blankets back some to sit down and drink on my tea. My head telling me "Don't go to sleep. You are just giving that killer a way to get to you." My body had another message for me. I had barely gotten my mug back onto the night stand before I passed out.
"Angel, Angel, Angel. You fought me so hard. Why?" A genderless voice spoke to me. I couldn't see anyone, but I heard them. "I don't know what you are talking about." I said looking around. It seemed almost like I was in heaven, but I knew that I wasn't in heaven." You fought so hard to not go to sleep. To not meet me." The voice said a little louder which meant that it was getting closer to me. The scene changed and it looked like a hallway from a haunted house. "Why are you doing this?" I asked looking around the hallway for something that might give me a hint as to what was going on. "What? Killing people in their sleep?" The voice started. "Well, because I am a god and I can." The voice echoed with creepy laughter as the scene went black.
I sat up with a start. I was drenched in sweat when I heard a knock at the door. "Damn! Cobra is here." I said as I threw on some purple shortie shorts and a white tank top before I took the steps two at a time to get to the door. "Just a sec." I said as I fumbled with the lock. There he was as I opened the door. Cobra. "Hey, Cobra." I smiled trying to hide the nightmare from him. "Angel, hey. You feeling okay?" He asked holding a boquet of roses in assorted colors. "Mhm. I am fine, thank you for asking. Thank you for coming, but how did you get my address?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "Angel, you gave me the address last week. Remember? We were working on the project for Magic History." He said slightly confused. "Oh! Yea! I remember now. I'm sorry. I took a nap and just woke up." I said fumbling over the words. "Won't you come in?" I took a step back to let him in. "Yes, I would love to come in. Oh. These are for you. I hope that you like roses." He smiled handing me the flowers.
"Thank you, Cobra. They are lovely." I said as I leaned forward and kissed him. His cheeks flushed lightly as he kissed me back. "I am glad that you like them, Angel. I stood there debating for an hour trying to think of what kind of flowers you would like." He grinned from ear to ear. "He has the cutest smile." I thought to myself as I walked into the kitched to grab my vase. My ex-boyfriend had brought flowers all the time and I never had a vase, so one day he brought a vase too. I sighed mentally because I didn't have one that wasn't from an ex.
"This is a pretty vase, Angel." Cobra said as he sat down in one of the kitchen chairs. "Oh, thank you." I forced a smile. "Did you want to get food or just watch movies or something?" I asked as I set the flowers in the center of the coffee table. "Movies are great. Not really hungry." He said from the kitchen. I gasped barely audible when I realized that the box was in the living room. "Wait! He knows about the case. Why am I worried about the box then?" I thought to myself realizing that he was standing behind me. "What's in the box?" He asked. "Uhh. I really don't wanna talk about it. It is rather depressing really." I said as I turned to him. "You want a water before we discuss the first movie?" His black eyes seemed dark, but concerned. "Yea, I'd like that. What movie did you have in mind?" He asked as we once again walked into the kitchen for water. "Well, I though maybe something classic. Maybe like Labyrinth or The Princess Bride." I said as I pulled the two movies from the shelf near the television. "Labyrinth." He said as he took a seat on the sofa as I turned on the tv. "Awesome." I smiled as I put the movie in the DVD player and sat next to him with a smile.
We snuggled on the sofa and the last thing I remember was Inigo trying to find the man in black. I woke that morning on the sofa wrapped in his arms. "Thank goodness it is Saturday. No school. Yes!" I thought to myself as I snuggled closer to him and fell back a sleep.
