Chapter 17 POV Narrator

Lucy, Natsu, Happy and Aquarius stood with Master Makarov Dreyar discussing a strategy for defeating the new found enemy. "Master, what can we do? It's like he's watching our every move." Lucy murmured worriedly. "Don't worry, Lucy. We wont let the bastard hurt anyone anymore. I promise you." Natsu said gripping Lucy's hand.

Happy grinned as if he had gotten an idea and turned to Natsu. "Natsu," Happy began. "I have an idea that involves Lucy." Natsu looked at him with some concern. "What's your idea, Happy?" Natsu asked as he released Lucy's hand and folded his arms across his chest. "We should use Lucy as bait!" Happy spat out with out any thought. Natsu chuckled lightly as Lucy's jaw hit the floor. Aquarius shook her head, but stayed quiet. "Happy, we have to figure out who this enemy is and how to destroy them." Master Markarov said looking down at the Exceed.

Lucy sighed sadly. "Why is it that your idead always gave me do something dangerous or embarassing?" Lucy asked as she looked down at Happy. "I don't know." He replied with a shrug. "You know, I wonder if maybe that wouldn't work for us some how." Natsu said pondering.

Master Makarov closed his eyes while in deep thought about Natsu's statement. "Natsu, do you think that would be a good idea?" Lucy asked as she fidgeted with her fingernails. "It may not be the best of ideas, but I will protect you along the way. I'll never let anything happen to you." He replied placing a kiss on her cheek. "I will always believe in you, Natsu. You're always there to protect me." Lucy grinned as she kissed his nose.

"Natsu, Lucy; I think this could be dangerous." Master Macky began. "But I think it may be the only way to draw him or her out." Natsu looked at Lucy with an encouraging smile. She smiled back at him with a nod. "So, master what do we do? How can you stop or destroy someone we don't know?" Lucy asked curiously.

Macky sat there for a few moments thinking before he answered. "Well, each wizard has a weakness. When we find him or her we will have to work quickly to find it and use it." Macky said looking at the three before him. "Then I will keep digging into hime and see what I can find out before he finds us." Lucys said firmly and determindly. "I'm gonna go over to the library."

~The Library~

Lucy sat at the table with a pile of books before her. Beside her sat a Celestial Spirit in the shape of a cross. Lucy opened the book in front of her and began to read. She gasped softly as she found the answers she was looking for on the pages before her very eyes.

There has only been two wizards who can get into the dreams of others. Zayne is one of them. He is strong enough to be considered one of the 10 wizard saints. He learned his magic from a man shortly before the man passed away.

Many believe that Zayne is the one that killed the man who trained him.

Beware, should you find him be sure that you are not alone.

"Lucy?" The Celestial Spirit said as he woke from his researching slumber. "Yes, Crux?" Lucy asked as she turned to him. "I am sorry to say that I have no information on this person aside from what Aquarius has already told you." Crux said with his hands on his knees. "Thank you, Crux. I appreciate it. You are more than welcome to head back if you wish." Lucy replied with a small smile. Crux nodded and left her there alone.

Lucy reread the passage and without a second thought Lucy picked up her phone and called Natsu. "Huh?" Natsu said trying to hide his yawn. "Natsu! I found it." Lucy said as she put her bookmark inside the book. "What'd the book say?" Natsu asked curiously. Lucy read the passage to him. "Hmm. Sounds interesting." Natsu replied after listening to the passage. "Sounds like he is a total creep." Lucy said sadly.

"Well, now all we have to do is figure out a weakness." Natsu said as he began walking from Lucy's house to the guild hall. "Yea, sounds that way." Lucy replied as she closed the book where she left her bookmark. "Are you on your way to the guild hall?" She asked as she picked up the book. "Yea. You leaving the library to head over there too?" Natsu asked as he continued his walk.

"Yea, I'm on my way out of the library now." Lucy said as she reached the door to the library. "So, I'll see you there, Lucy?" Natsu replied with a smile, though she couldn't see it. "Yea. I'll see you there, Natsu." Lucy smiled back at the phone. The two hung up their phones and walked on.

The two met up in front of the guild hall. "Does Master know we are here? Did you call him?" Lucy asked as Natsu took her hand in his. "No, I haven't called him." Natsu began with a smile. "I am gonna assume that he is still here drinking." Lucy shook her head. "My my. He is probably right though. Master drinks more than he probably ought to at his age." Lucy thought to herself as Natsu opened the door to the guild hall.

The pair walked into the guild hall and saw Master Makarov sitting on the bar. "Master!" Lucy called as they walked towards him. "Gramps!" Natsu said as they reached him. "Natsu, Lucy; you two are back faster than I thought you'd be." Macky replied looked at the two of them.

"Master, I've found something that we think you should read." Lucy said holding the book out towards him. "What did you find, Lucy?" Master Makarov asked as he took the book from her. "The bookmark, that is where the information is that I found." Lucy replied gripping Natsu's hand. Master Makarov read the passage twice to be sure that he was understanding what was said in the book. "Well, we know who he is now. All we need now is his weakness." Master Macky said as he closed the book.

The guild hall fell silent as a man walked into the guild hall. The man stood at five foot nine with black hair and eyes. "Makarov, it is so nice to see you again." The man said as he walked towards Makarov, Lucy and Natsu.

Master Makarov gasped as he realized who the man was. "Zayne...It has been years." Makarov began. "Wait, these deaths are your fault!" Zayne chuckled lightly. "Yes, I am responsible for all those deaths." Zayne said as he looked up at Makarov with a sinister look in his eyes. Lucy squeazed Natsu's hand harder than she meant to. He looked down at her with a reassuring smile before looking back up at the man standing before them.

Master Makarov stood on the bar and stared at Zayne. "Why are you doing this, Zayne? Many many years ago you used your magic as a way to help people." Macky said balling his hands into fists. "Yes, I did do some good back then. As to why I am doing this, well let's say why not?" Zayne replied harshly.

Levy and Gajeel entered the guild hall to see Zayne standing there. With anger on Master Makarov's face it was safe for Levy and Gajeel to think that he was the cause of all the deaths. Levy had taken some time and gone to another library in a town not far from the guild hall and Magnolia in hopes of finding more information on Zayne.

Master Makarov glared at Zayne. "You should stop all of this killing, Zayne." Makarov said meeting Zayne's black eyes. "Where is Elana, Zayne?" The guild looked at their master in confusion. "Elana is...no longer with us, Macky. She was taken from me three years ago." Zayne replied looking down at his hands. "She kept you straight, Zayne. Do you really think that this is how she wanted you to live your life?" Macky asked understanding his pain. "It is not what she would have wanted, Makarov; but h-how do I stay straight when the one person who kept me straight is gone?" Zayne demanded as a tear rolled down his face.

Makarov sighed sadly thinking of his own family and how he could go this way if they were to all perish at once. "Zayne, she is still with you. In here." Macky said as he placed his hand over his heart. Zayne tried to keep his tears in check, but standing before an old friend and having fallen onto the path of darkness made it hard to keep them from falling. "Zayne, turn yourself in to the council. Surely you will want to make things right." Makarov said hoping down to the floor.

Zayne wiped his eyes and looked at Makarov. "Elana was all that mattered in my life. How can I go to the Council and have them put me in jail?" Zayne asked unhappily. "Zayne, how can you not go to the Council and be put in jail for what you have done and still think that Elana would be happy for you?" Macky replied pulling a tissue from his pocket. With a gentle smile he handed Zayne the tissue.

"Makarov, you are right. How can I do all that I have done and still think she would be proud of me? I know that she is not happy with what I am doing. To atone for what I have done and to hope that I will see her smiling face once more..." Zayne started before he saw Levy behind him. "She looks so much like her."

Levy backed up slightly and bumped into Gajeel. Sensing her fear he put his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Shorty." Gajeel said rather defensivly. "Zayne, that is not Elana. You know that. Her name is Levy McGarden." Makarov said firmly. "I-I know. She just...resembles my Elana so much." Zayne replied taking a step towards Levy.

Gajeel glared at Zayne as if daring him to keep coming towards Levy. "I-is she your's?" Zayne asked meeting Gajeel's glare. "Yea. She's mine." Gajeel said firmly as he moved Levy behind him. Zayne sighed softly and looked at Levy with a look that said he was thinking about her or maybe Elana whom she resembled so much.

Makarov walked over and stood between Gajeel and Zayne. "Stop this and go to the Council." Makarov said trying to keep his frustration in check. "If she will take the ride to the Council with me." Zayne repeated faster than he thought he would. "Levy?" Makarov said as he turned to face her. "If it means that people will be save and he can get help, Master. Then I will go." Levy said as she stepped around Gajeel. "Very well. I will send for a carriage and the two of you will leave immediately." Makarov replied as he turned to face Zayne. "But I am sure that this mean Gajeel will demand that he go with her as well, to ensure her safety of course."

Zayne looked up and Gajeel and then back to Makarov. "If that is what will allow her to ride with me there then I will manage with him being there as well. After all, who am I to seperate one from their lover." Zayne replied looking down at his feet.
