Chapter 19 POV Jenny
It was the day after Sherry's wedding and I had class with Master Goldmine; I almost cried when my alarm went off. I rolled over with a groan and turned the alarm off. While rubbing the sleep out of my eyes I stumbled into the bathroom.
I stripped completely and turned on the hot water in the shower. I crawled in and scrubbed away the sleep and the grime. "Mmm. This is awesome." I murmured as I rinsed my hair of all the shampoo. "I hope that Hibiki will be here today. He is so smart, sweet and incredibly gorgeous." I thought as I scrubbed every inch of my body.
I climed out of the shower and dried off. I took my time getting dressed and doing my hair. "Hopefully he will notice me and ask me out. I cannot imagine hot to not act totally thrilled if he does." I thought as I dabbed perfum on my neck, between my breasts and on the inside of my wrists.
I looked at the time as I was pulling my hair back and nearly panicked. I had ten minutes to get to class before it started. In a panic I threw on my heels and grabbed my bag of school stuff so I could leave. I locked my door behind me as I rushed out. I began my walk towards the building two streets over to the building where my class is.
In my panicked hurry I didn't pay attention and ran right into someone. "Oh no! I'm so so sorry." I said as I knelt to pick stuff up. "No, I should have been paying better attention." He replied sweetly as he handed me my bag. I gasped slightly when I realized that kneeling down to help me was the man of my dreams. "Hibiki, I really should have been paying attention." I said sadly as I stood up. "Are you headed to Math with Master Goldmine?" Hibiki asked as he stood up. "Yes, I am." I replied shyly.
Hibiki held out his hand. "How would you like to walk with me, Jenny?" Hibiki asked me sweetly. "That sounds wonderful, Hibiki." I replied taking his outstretched hand.
The two of us walked hand in hand all the way to class. "Hibiki, Jenny; you made it just barely." Goldmine said as we entered the classroom. The teo of us took our seats quickly so that Master Goldmine could begin the lecture. "Good morning class." Master Goldmine said as he grabbed his textbook to begin the lesson.
The class seemed to drag on and on. "Ugh! This class is going on forever. It's ridiculous." I thought as I began to look over the practice problems. "Alright class, you have ten minutes left of class to work on tonight's homework assignment." Master Goldmine said as he closed his textbook.
I looked down at the assignment before me and sighed sadly. "Oh how I despise this class. I wonder if Hibiki has problems with math." I thought with a sigh as I drummed my pencil. "Jenny?" Hibiki said looking at me. "Yea?" I replied looking back at him. "Do you need help with the assignment?" Hibiki asked with a sweet smile.
I flushed slightly embarassed and nodded. Without another word he moved closer and worked on the problems with me. The two of us worked hard and after him explaining a lot of it to me it made so much more sense. "Alright y'all, class is over." Master Goldmine said with a small smile.
I tapped Hibiki's hand with a smile. "Yea?" He said looking at him with that perfect smile of his. "Do you want to get some lunch or something?" I asked nervously. "Sure, Jenny. I would love to." He said nodding. The two of us walked out of class hand in hand. "Did you want to go to the cafe?" Hibiki asked as he adjusted his books. "Yea, that sounds good." I replied with a gentle smile.
The two of us walked to the cafe talking about everything in our lives. We sat outside under an umbrella over the table. "Hello, what can I get for you?" A pretty young woman asked with a reciet tab in her hand. "A slice of cheesecake and a Caramel Maciatto, please." I replied as I looked up at her. "Sounds good, Jenny. I will have the same." Hibiki said with a flirty smile. "Alright. I will get the order in and be back shortly." The woman said with a flirty smile towards Hibiki.
After the waitress left I nervously looked up into Hibiki's black eyes and smiled happily. "Hibiki..." I began softly. "I...I wanted to tell you that I adore you. I-I want to be more than just a friend to you." I continued nervously. "Jenny, you are sweet, amazing and beautiful; but I-" He replied just as nervously. "Jenny, I just.." He stammered nervously. "Hibiki, just tell me straight." I said putting my hand ontop on his. "I'm trying to get over Karen still." Hibiki said faster than I thought that he would. "I understand, Hibiki. I really do." I replied giving his hand a gentle squeeze as the waitress walked up with our coffees and cheesecake slices.
She smiled and set a plate down in front of each of us. "Here ya go. Anything else I can get you?" She asked politely. We shook our heads no. "Alright, I will check back in on ya in a little bit then." She said before she walked away. "Hibiki, how long has it been since she has been gone?" I asked as I set my coffee cup down. "She died in X781, remember." He said as he met my blue eyes. "I'm sorry. I should have remembered something like that." I said embarassed. "Jenny, it's okay. It's been a long time and I really do need to move on." He said before taking a bite of cheesecake.
We sat in silence for ten minutes before he looked up at me with a small smile. "You want to go see a movie? I know there are a couple interesting movies that just hit theater." He grinned flirtatiously. "Oh Hibiki, how I wish that you were over Karen." I thought as a smile crept onto my face. "You know, that sounds fun." I replied sweetly, wanting to ask if it was a date or just as friends; but I decided not to hit that topic again.
"Any particular movie that you wanna see?" He asked as he set his cup down on the table. "I'm okay seeing just about anything, Hibiki." I replied flirtatiously. He grinned back and me as he began to pull money from his wallet. "I suppose I ought to dig money out myself." I stammered as I began digging for my wallet. "Jenny, it's my treat." He grinned at me. "Oh. Okay." I said as color flushed into my cheeks.
We left the cafe and began our trek to the movie theater, which was a street past my apartment. "Do you want to stash your books in my apartment?" I asked as I dug for my key. "That would be wonderful, thank you." He replied as we made our way to my apartment. "Hibiki, there is something that I have to ask you." I said as I fought with my doorknob. "Now, I don't want to put any gloom into our movie fun tonight; but is this just friends or are you thinking more about what I said at the cafe?" I asked thankful that I did not have to meet his black eyes.
I turned to see him smiling at me. "What?" I asked as color flooded my face. "It is more on what you mentioned earlier today, but more of a...a" He said stumbling over the last part. "More of a?" I asked as I took a step into my apartment. "Well, more of a see if I can enter the dating scene and not always have Karen on my mind." Hibiki said looking down at his feet. "How odd he is being today. Hibiki is typically full of confidence. Wonder what is going on inside his head." I thought as I sat my school stuff on the sofa. "So, it's a test run?" I asked as I turned to face him. "I hate the way it sounds, but essentially that is what this is." He said as he set his school things on my sofa as well.
"Well, it may not sound nice; but it is what it is." I said trying to think a little more positively. "True." He replied with a small smile. "Well, shall we go then?" I asked as I tucked my keys into my purse. "Sure." He said as he took my hand in his.
We walked hand in hand all the way to the movie theater and not a word said between us. "Hmm. Now, I understand his nervousness. He wants to move on and needs to see if he can. I wonder if he thinks of me more than a friend or if it really is nothing more than a test run for him. I cannot imagine what I will do if that is all that I am. A test run." I thought as we entered the movie theater. "Jenny, I'm sorry if I have made you doubt my intentions tonight." He said giving my hand a gentle squeeze. "I have to admit that it has made me think." I replied trying to keep positive. "There is no person in this world that has made me think of moving on. Except one." He said as he pushed a lock of blonde hair out of my face. "Oh?" I replied as I watched him move my hair from my face. "Yes, Jenny. You." He smiled before he leaned forward and kissed me.
I could feel the heat rushing into my cheeks as he kissed me. "My God. I wish he had said something sooner." I thought as I kissed him back. Out of breath and with the biggest smiles we could muster we broke the kiss and turned to the screen to watch the movie.
