A note from Tanith:
Guys, I'm so sorry! I didn't realise anyone actually read TFTCIA so I'd kind of given up on it! This is the importance of reviews, guys. Sure, everyone loves a constructive review but even just a "heads up, I like this" is enough.
Okay, into the story!
The car was full. It felt like Sara's life was too. Suddenly she was content, she had everything she'd never known she wanted, and everything was working out beautifully. It seemed that everything was coming up Sara.
"Mandy, you should see this house I checked out online" Catherine was saying as the pulled up into the car park.
"Oh? Is it nice?" The other woman replied.
Catherine smiled wistfully. "It's so beautiful. It's covered in ivy, looks like an old English mansion. But Sara doesn't want to live too far from the lab, which I totally don't get, because she's having twins! I mean, it's not like she can just pop in for a shift with a double stroller, she's being-"
Lindsay looked up from the magazine she was reading. "Mom." She said sternly.
"What?" Catherine asked moodily. The child nodded her head towards Sara, whose eyes were brimming with tears. "Oh." She said softly.
She wrapped her arms around the pregnant brunette. "Sara, you know I didn't mean it like that. I love you, I love that you're a workaholic." Lindsay mimed digging. Catherine nodded. "Look, we'll talk about this some other time. I love you. I would never mean to actually hurt your feelings. You and Linds- and the twins- are the best things that have ever happened to me, and I'd rather eat dirt than hurt you guys."
Sara nodded. "I know. I do. I just feel like you look at me sometimes with despair and I can't stand it. I'm a little set in my ways, and I know I can't work with babies-obviously. But I'd like to go back someday, I'm no stay at home Mom, I even hat the very word 'mom'!"
"Mom? Sara? I'm really hungry. Also, Mandy and Wendy might not just be friends." The two women looked back, and saw Lindsay sitting on the edge of her seat- possibly due to the proximity of two kissing women less than a foot away.
"Guys? Gross." Said the girl, poking them apart with trepidation.
The backseat women grinned sheepishly. "Sorry, Linds" Mandy muttered.
Catherine unbuckled Sara and then herself, signalling for the others to hop out, locking the car behind them. She shrugged.
"This is still Vegas, you know."
