Kunihiko's POV

I was in my office working when Grace came in.

"Kuni, Vince is here to see you."

"Vince?"

"Hey Kuni, how are you?"

"I'm doing ok I guess, whats wrong?"

"I just thought I would see how things are going with they kids and Anne."

"Vince, all the years I have known you, you have never stopped to 'see how I was doing.' What is going on?"

"Anne called me last week. We met up in my office yesterday."

"What did she want?"

"Are things ok with the kids?"

"Yes."

"Then why did she say that you have not even tried to see them in the last two months except for last week?"

"Look, I can only take the kids when I am not working all the time. With things they way they are at work…its not as easy."

"Don't lie to me."

"I'm no…"

"She told me that it was Grace who didn't want them around. That one time she brought them over and you wouldn't let the boys stay because her family was there."

"Grace is not a fan of the fact that I am still talking with Anne, even if it is just about the kids."

"That shouldn't matter Kuni, they are your kids too."

"I know but…"

"Look, I just stopped by to give these to you." He said handing me an envelope.

"What's this?" I asked opening it.

"With the way everything is going with the kids…Anne filed for full custody."

"What?" I said looking back at him.

"Look, Kuni…you have not even seen the boys in months. The fact that you rather listen to Grace then see your boys…"

I just sat there looking over the paperwork.

"I better go." He said walking towards the door. "I am sorry Kuni." He said before he left.

I can't believe it.

I might lose them.

"Everything ok? Vince didn't look to happy." Grace said walking in. "Kuni?"

"I cant believe it."

"Whats going on?" She said walking over.

"Anne is filing for sill custody."

"What…why?"

"Because I listened to your feelings instead of my kids." I said getting angry.

"What?"

"You would always get upset whenever I talked to Anne about the kids and never liked when they were over."

"Kuni…"

"No, now you listen." I yelled.

She closed her mouth.

"I listened to you complain about how you felt like you had to fight for me from Anne. You felt that I still loved her and just married you because of Hailey. So I decided to try and keep you happy to prove that you were wrong. I decided to not have the boys over unless you were out of town or not going to be home. Now I might lose them because of you."

"I didn't tell you to do anything!"

"No, but I did it to make you happy. To make you see that I did love you!"

"…kuni.."

"Get out."

"Wha…."

"GET OUT!" I yelled at her.

She turned and walked quickly out of the room.

I sat back down in my chair and read over the paperwork again.

I grabbed my phone and called Anne's cell.

I know she is working so she won't answer.

I left her a voice message.

"Hey Anne, It Kuni. I got the paperwork from Vince about you filing for full custody." I said calmly. "I understand why you did…I would be doing the same thing in your shoes…although I know you would never do what I have done…I am sorry I have hurt the kids this bad…I am sorry that I ever hurt you too. I know I never said it before and meant it…but I am glad that you found someone like Orimitsu. You deserve to be happy. I am sorry I never made you happy. I won't fight the custody hearing, I agree with you and everything you have said. I will do everything I can to earn your trust with the kids. I will do everything I can to earn the trust back with the kids too…no matter how long that takes. I guess I will see you in court then." I said hanging up.

Months went by with visits with Vince and court dates and after almost 6 months there was a decision.

Everyone was walking out of court.

"Anne." I said as I walked out of the building.

She turned to look at me.

"Orimitsu, can you take Ayana to the car. I will be there in a second."

"Sure." He said walking to their car.

"What is it Kuni." She asked.

"I'm sorry."

"I shouldn't be the one you are apologizing to."

"For everything."

"What?"

"For everything I have put you and them through. I will do whatever I can to get the kids back in my life."

"Not with your wife you are not."

"We are getting divorced."

"Really?"

"I told her everything that was going on and blamed her. I know it was my fault. I told her I was going to do everything I can to get visitation back and she just flipped saying 'you have our kids here to see, you don't need to see them.' That was the last straw, things have been going downhill for us for a while."

"I'm truly sorry to hear that."

"Did you get my voicemail a while back?" I asked.

"You mean the one from when you got served?"

"Yes."

"I did."

"I meant all of it."

"Kuni, I wasn't always unhappy when I was with you. It just hurt me a lot. After everything with my dad and mom. Then the misunderstanding when I was pregnant the first time…it just…"

"I know. I am sorry I ever hurt you."

"I know." She said. Then she looked over at Orimitsu.

"I'm glad your happy."

"I am happy. I have an amazing family, husband. I couldn't be more happy." She said smiling. "I better go."

"Bye Anne."

"Bye, I expect to hear from you about visitation if you mean it."

"I do."

She smiled as she walked off toward the car.

I watched her walk to the car, wishing I had never made the mistakes that I made, hurting her…but I am glad she has found someone to make her more happy than I ever could.
