Chapter XIX
"Hijirikawa's father? What the hell is he doing here? How did he find out that Hijirikawa would be here? Petra… Did Petra tell him? No I don't think she would tell him about this. I know that Hijirikawa is important to her, so she would not do this to him. She only wants to protect him. Then who could it be?" Ren thought, he was feeling desperate at the sudden appearance of Hijirikawa's father. He knew they had been cautious, mainly Hijirikawa. He loved the piano so much, that instrument was his treasure. So the blue haired teen would not make a mistake and be caught. Whenever he needed and wanted to practice his piano he would wait until all of his family left his house.
"I will kill that person!" Ren thought again, however this time he clenched his fists tightly to control his rage. Whoever had told to Hijirikawa's father about his participation in this contest would regret it. The blue haired male had been so happy a few minutes ago, yet with his father's appearance he was feeling sad and afraid once more. His sweet warm smile had disappeared from his face; his intense dark blue eyes transmitted all the pain he was suffering right now, and the blond was feeling useless. Why now that he wanted to hear his kind voice, to know how Hijirikawa felt after playing the piano in such a beautiful and unique way… He also wanted to know why he was feeling connected to the blue haired teen behind him. Why had his song had reached his heart so deeply and intensely, as it had never reached before. However what he wanted to do the most was to hug Hijirikawa, he didn't know why, he only wanted to feel him between his arms.
"Y-Yes, father." Masato said coldly, so coldly that it surprised Jinguji and made him look behind him to be able to see his expression. However the blue haired teen lowered his face before the blond could look into his dark blue eyes, he didn't want to show Jinguji how pathetic he was in front of his father.
"Anyone but him." Masato thought as he walked towards his father, leaving behind him Jinguji's protection. Yet before he could take one more step someone prevented him from moving. The blond had grabbed his arm tightly. It was hurting him, however he was feeling happy. He looked at the blond and could see his light blue eyes looking at him sadly. Jinguji was worried for him, Jinguji wanted to protect him; even in the end Jinguji was thinking about him.
"It's sad. My heart hurts. If I could I want to be able to be by his side forever. Even so, I am so happy right now." The blue haired male thought, however his father interrupted his thoughts with his cold and harsh tone.
"You... Leave Masato-kun right now!"
"It's okay father." Masato's father looked at him and the teen continued "Can you please give me five more minutes?" He asked slightly trembling with his father's anticipated reaction.
"Huh? What are you saying? You have humiliated me too much, let's go already." The older man harshly demanded, yet the blue haired teen didn't want to obey. Just this one time he didn't want to obey his father.
"I said just 5 more minutes!" He shouted with all his might. For a few moments his father looked at him astonished and Masato was starting to regret having yelled at his father. He was disobeying him. For the first time he had disobeyed; all because he wanted to be a little more with Jinguji Ren.
"Tsk… Very well, you have 5 more minutes. After this you will come home and we will have a long talk." Saying that Masato's father left.
For a few seconds they remained quiet, only looking at each other's eyes; they didn't know what to say. They couldn't express themselves properly, they were suffering with that whirlwind of feelings. They just wanted to see a simple smile from the other's lips, they had the same feelings yet they didn't know it. They were deeply connected, yet they hadn't realized it.
"Fuck Hijirikawa, what was that right now? Will you go home with your father? You still haven't heard what place you got..." Ren said feeling insecure. This wasn't what he wanted to say, yet he knew if he talked about the contest; if he talked about what Hijirikawa loved the most he could reach his heart and made him stay. Nevertheless the blue haired teen surprised him with his unpredictable words.
"That's not important anymore. My dream of entering in a contest was realized already, so I don't need anything else." Masato smiled forcibly and continued saying "Thank you Jinguji, if it wasn't for you I would have never entered the contest … I would have never played and discovered what I needed." The blond was feeling confused and Masato could see it through his expression. This was the last time they would be together, so if possible he wanted to have a smile. However their time together was coming to an end. The five minutes was too short.
"Well at least we can get rid of one another. You must be happy right, Jinguji?" Masato asked with a false laugh.
"Eh… What the hell are you talking about?" Ren asked growing more confused with Masato's behavior.
"Huh? Well today is the last day of our time together. Finally you can go back to your life and I to mine. I don't need tutoring classes anymore, because I'm better. Besides Honda-sensei only put us together because he wanted us to get along with one another right?" Masato was hurting himself with his own words. His false smile had almost disappeared from his face. His vision was starting to blur, he knew it, if he didn't leave soon he would not be able to hide his tears. Jinguji would see him crying. He would know that Masato was crying because of him.
"I have to go now, or my father will come here again. Then I… we… Goodbye, Jinguji." Saying that, Masato left the blond behind without a backwards glance. He couldn't believe Hijirikawa's last words. Their time together had come to an end, everything had ended. He could go back to his life. Fuck with girls here and there… Yes, finally he could stop feeling so aroused around the blue haired male. He would stop seeing him every single day; every hour of the day. He would not need to talk to that nerd again. They would be strangers once more. Everything they had done together would disappear as if it had never existed.
"Eve-ry-thing… Shit, I should be happy damn it. Fuck I really, really hate him!" Ren thought nervously running through the backstage hallway. He was looking for the blue haired teen, and in fact he was able to see him. Even if this was their last day together the stupid nerd would not get rid of him so easily.
"Oye you idiot" Ren said surprising Hijirikawa who was already far down the hall yet when he heard Ren's voice he looked behind to see him "No matter how much time it takes me, I will get to your house today."
Masato's dark blue eyes widened at the sudden words. He wanted to respond to the blond, yet his father interrupted him one more time "Let's go home now, Masato-kun. Stop humiliating me." Right now the blue haired teen couldn't disobey, so he avoided Jinguji's look and continued on his way home. Always behind his father.
"Shit! No matter what, I will go there and protect you Hijirikawa." Ren thought heading backstage to await the results of the contest so he could tell Hijirikawa.
"How many times have I asked you to stop that nonsense about the piano? What do you really want to do with your life? Do you plan to ruin all my hard work until now?" Masato's father said sitting in a large chair. They were already at home, yet the blue haired teen didn't feel comfortable, his home didn't feel welcoming to him at all. He had always felt that way, at least with anyone from his family. However only Petra and lately Jinguji could make him feel comfortable and happy inside that house. He hadn't felt like a stranger there anymore. Only now; now he was a total stranger. He couldn't chose, his father was the one who decided everything for their family. Yet, was his father making all the decisions really for the good of the whole family? He knew it wasn't. Nobody was happy with his father's rules. His mother, even if she didn't complain, also it was so painful for Masato knowing that his mother was suffering in silence. Why did this man have to be so rude? Why couldn't he feel love and happiness? Why did work and his family's status always have to be the most important?
"I already told you that the piano is good only to pass time, like a hobby. Nobody makes money playing the piano. Do you want to be poor?" The harsh man said. The more he spoke, the sadder the blue haired teen felt. However this time he would not stay quiet. The piano was the only thing that made him feel really happy. The piano was his most important treasure and it was also the only way he had find that could connect him to Jinguji Ren, so he would not be silent. He had to tell to his father how was he feeling. Perhaps his father could understand him; he only had to reach the deepest place of his heart. They were family. They were father and son, so his father had to love him; even if it was only a bit his father had to feel something.
"Um… father I…" Masato started saying looking at his father, however once the man turned around and faced him he began to regret his own decision of interrupting him. He was afraid. The fear had always controlled him.
"You what?" His father asked, his tone harsh as usual.
"You can do it Masato. Just… speak." The blue haired teen thought.
"I love to play the piano. I want to be able to play it whenever I want. I… Even if I play it I will not be poor, I will not ruin our family's name; I will not humiliate you father. There are people who are professional and they are very rich, so I…" Masato said all this and was determined to finish saying all of his true feelings, and reach his father's heart. However the older man approached him and slapped his face roughly. The blue haired teen's eyes widened in shock, he wasn't expecting such an action from his father. He knew the man was rude, he knew that probably he hated his own son… Yet Masato wanted to believe it was the opposite and maybe his father loved him. Nevertheless that wasn't true. He was hated, he was really hated by his father. Even knowing this, Masato couldn't help but continue loving him. It wasn't fair. He wanted to hate him too. Why couldn't he hate him? What had hurt him the most hadn't been his father's slap, but his cold feelings.
"I already told you to stop with that nonsense, even so you continue with those crazy ideas huh? Very well, I just decided right now what to do with you. I will sell that piano, that way you will stop."
"Eh… D-Don't! Please father, please… don't. That piano is so important to me. I promise you I will not play the piano again, but please don't do that." Masato begged him, yet the man was determined.
"This time I will not hear you. How many times will you promise me the same and not obey? A few months ago when I arrived from my last business trip you took advantage of it to play. Can you remember what you promised me that time?"
"I… The same. But this time I will…"
"You will obey Masato-kun, because I will sell it."
"No father please…!"
"And… You will also go to a private school."
"Private… school?" Masato was incredulous. If he went to a private school then he would not be able to see Keita and all his new friends from the blond's band as much as he wanted. The most important thing was he would not be able to see Jinguji anymore. He would lose Jinguji forever. Even if this had been their last day together, he knew he would see him at school. Even if they didn't talk anymore, even if the blond never called him by his name again, he would be able to see him. However if he left school then that would not happen, he would not see him. Jinguji would forget him. Then if that happened, would he also be able to forget him?
"That will not happen." A familiar voice sounded in Masato's ears. Could it be? Could it really be the one he wanted and needed to see the most? If it was, how happy he would be. Masato started to turn around slowly, however a large gentle hand around his left wrist stopped him. The blue haired teen looked to his side and saw him. Jinguji Ren was by his side as he had promised. Jinguji had come to his house.
"HUH? You again? What are you doing here at my house?" Masato's father shouted. Seeing the same blond from before let him even more furious.
"As I said Hijirikawa will not go to a private school." Ren said facing the rude man before him.
"Who do you think you are to decide that?" Masato's father asked.
"I'm Jinguji Ren, your son's friend." Ren simply answered him. Then he looked at the blue haired teen next him and said "Hijirikawa go pack some of your clothes, from now on you will live with me."
"Eh? But… But… Live… with… you?" Masato asked looking at the blond surprised.
"Don't worry, just go pack your things. I will be waiting for you." Ren said smiling gently. Masato didn't understand why Jinguji was saying that, however his smile was so truthful that he felt safe. He didn't need anything else, only to listen to Jinguji's words. So without more waiting the blue haired male left his father's office without listening to his words, for the second time in all his life he was disobeying that rude man. Once more it was thanks to Jinguji.
"Now I know that it was because of you that my son didn't obey me. He will not go with you." Masato's father said.
"I already told you right? Hijirikawa will go with me. He will live with me. You don't need to worry about your son, from now on I will take a good care of him. Oh and don't try to scare him again, otherwise I don't know what I will do." Ren said with malice dripping in his voice, the threat made even clearer.
"Are you threatening me?" The older man asked.
"Let me see… Well in the way I said that yes it can be interpreted as a threat. The thing is, I don't like to see Hijirikawa suffering and I know that you're the only one who can make him suffer in such a terrible way, so don't try to do it again. That's all I have to say. Goodbye, Hijirikawa Masaomi-san." Saying that Ren was ready to leave the room, however he remembered one more thing and faced the older man again adding "Oh and from now on, Hijirikawa will do what he loves the most. Don't you dare to try to stop him. Goodbye." The blond left the office, the older man seething with rage.
"You can put those bags over there, later I will help you to organize your things." Ren said looking at the blue haired male, however he had his face lowered and that was leaving the blond completely desperate. He didn't want Hijirikawa to feel in such a painful way. He wanted him to smile. Yet what could he do? He was useless at this precise moment. Useless one more time.
"Hijirikawa look, you need to rest so…"
"Thank you Jinguji." Masato said interrupting the blond. His face still lowered.
"Huh? Shit, you really don't need to… thank me." Ren muttered feeling embarrassed with the sudden thanks.
"I… My father…" Masato wanted to explain everything to Jinguji. He knew that if he talked with the blond he would feel better. Jinguji was the one who could calm him regardless of what happened. However the persistent feelings of sadness were controlling him, and before he realized it he was already crying.
"Eh… EH? Hi-Hijirikawa? W-Wait… Why are you crying?" Ren asked feeling lost and confused. He didn't know what he should do, or how he could comfort the blue haired male. All he knew was that he didn't want to see him crying, He wanted to stop all his tears. It was then when he remembered what he could do. He knew that was the only way he could be able to comfort him; after all friends did that right? They… were friends already, otherwise he would not be doing all this for Hijirikawa. Nevertheless when did he start to feel that the blue haired male was his friend? When did their bond grow such a state? He remembered he hated him before, however little by little their hate become friendship.
"Little by little he became unique. Shit, not even Sakura was this special…" The blond thought remembering his ex and only girlfriend. She had been the only one who could conquer his love, however somehow with Hijirikawa he was feeling things he had never felt with her before. It was confusing. It didn't make sense.
"Ah shit, I don't care I will just do it and be done!" Ren thought one more time, yelling at himself in his mind. Yet this time after his thought, the blond pulled Hijirikawa to him and hugged the blue haired teen who stood incredulous with the sudden action. Instead of stopping his crying Masato began to cry even more than before. He was happy now, he really was however he couldn't forget his father's words.
"Damn it Hijirikawa, can you stop crying please? I don't like when you're crying. I don't like when you're sad and suffering. Please tell me what's happening with you." Ren begged him. Hearing his deep gentle voice let Masato know how much Jinguji cared about him. He didn't want to worry Jinguji anymore, because Jinguji Ren was important and special to him.
"My father will sell my piano. I don't want him to and I begged him, even so he told me he would sell it." Masato finally said sobbing with his face hidden in Jinguji's chest.
"Fuck! That man again… I will not that happen." Ren promised himself, squeezing Hijirikawa between his arms. He needed to do something if he wanted to see him happy, because Hijirikawa Masato was an important and special person to him definitely was.
