Hihihihi I think you guys may like the way I end this chapter or maybe you'll hate it what do I know?
Just kidding, I seriously thought about giving him two thumbs up, I was about to do it too when I thought of something better.
I slapped his arm, really hard.
"You weren't supposed to say that Spot!" I shouted, slapping him again.
"Ow! He rubbed his arm and glared at me.
"I just poured out my heart to you and that's what you do?! You slap me?!"
"Don't blame this on me! You were supposed to say anything but that!"
This was not going to plan, with an angry stomp I turned away from him.
"Get back here!" I heard him shout, but I just kept going.
I was almost out the door when he caught up to me. His arms wrapped around my waist and lifted me off of the ground.
"Let me go you buffoon!" I tried kicking him but that wasn't working, I was to weak for him, my trashing was nothing.
So I did the only thing reasonable, I latched on to the door frame. And I wasn't letting go.
"Let go Violet!"
"You let go!"
My fingers were starting to burn from all the force I was putting on them.
"Please Violet, lets talk about this like people"
I was about to scream at him, when I saw a big blob of pink.
I let go, we both fell back with a thud, ignoring all the stinging I felt, I scrambled up and shut the door.
"You have to hide!" I told Spot, while pulling him up.
"Why?"
"Your mother is coming"
"So?"
"You. Mother. Is. Coming"
He still looked clueless.
"Its too early for you to be here! What do you think your mom's going to think if she sees you here like that at this hour?!"
That seemed to get him moving. He barely made it underneath the bed when the door opened again
"Violet!" I smoothed down my hair and tried to smile "You are not going to believe what just happened!"
"What happened?" I asked, quickly glancing at the bed.
"I got another invitation!"
Joy!
"This one is at my friends lake, so we have to go shopping for swimsuits and hats and summer dresses and...Oh My! there is so many things to buy! I better go wake Finn!"
"No!" I shouted "I mean I'll do it" I said, before she left.
She looked confused for a second before she nodded her head profusely and smiled.
"Good thinking! He'll love that!"
Relief was an understatement for when she left.
I skidded and looked underneath the bed. He was gone!
"I'm over here sweetheart"
I stood and glared at Spot when I saw him on the other side of the bed.
"Don't call me that!"
"Why not sugar cakes?" He taunted.
This boy loved to make me blush.
I waved him off and headed towards the wardrobe. Our argument forgotten, for now.
"You heard you're mother, get dressed we have things to do"
"Wear this" Spot had followed me and pointed at a dress I wouldn't even dare and touch.
"Go way" I took the once next to it and headed for the bathroom.
"But doll face, I'll miss you"
I slammed the door on his face.
"Baby"
"Leave me alone Spot"
"Babe"
"I'm going to hit you"
He laughed and shoved me before heading back towards his mother
Regaining my balance, I continued to sift through the frilly swimsuits. Why did all of them have to be pink?
"Excuse me mam?" I called out to the teller.
"Yes dear?" The skinny woman dressed in a black dress came over.
"Do you have any more swimsuits in a different color?'"
The woman nodded and told me to wait.
I've never worn a swimsuit before, I've only ever swam in my underclothes when we went south to visit my Grandmother.
"This came in for the summer season, I'm not sure if you're interested in them"
The teller set down three different sets of pink boxes.
"All right, Thank You"
I opened the boxes and unwrapped the swimwear from the pink paper. Why was everything so pink?
These swimsuits were a little bit better, instead of a wide and annoying skirt they had knickerbockers, and a slimmer skirt, and no ridiculous puffy sleeves. After careful consideration I choose the darker blue with the white sailor collar.
"What do you think Violet?"
I turned towards the voice and burst into laughter.
Spot had struck a pose in a striped bathing-suit.
"I would have gone with a more conservative look but I wanted you to notice me"
"You goof" I said, shaking my head.
"What did you get?" He asked, pushing me out of the way.
"This?" Spot held my bathing suit with his thumb and index finger, looking at it with extreme disgust.
"Whats wrong with it?" I asked. I thought it was fine.
"I made and effort for you and this is all you give me?" He let it fall to the floor "I'm disappointed"
I picked it up and glared.
"Mine is perfect yours is ridiculous" I said, shoving his shoulder.
"Ridiculously perfect" Spot countered, stepping closer. He opened his mouth to say something else when he was interrupted.
"Well, well, if it isn't my two favorite street urchins"
All the mirth I felt escaped me.
"Still leaching off poor Cousin Quinn, I see?" The venomous woman walked forward, her red lips parted.
"Were not leaching off of him" Spot said, pushing me behind him.
"Really? Cause that's what this looks like" She said, waving her manicured hand at us.
"Susan! How lovely to meet you here!" Aideen, appeared out of nowhere and pompously stood in between Susan and us. "I would love to stay and chat but we have so many things to do!"
Aideen gave us a meaningful glance "C'mon kids get your things"
I nodded and put the swimsuit back in its box.
"Finn" Aideen said, her tone firm after Spot just stood there with his arms crossed, glaring.
Spot grumbled before reluctantly walking towards the men's half of the store.
"A swimsuit? Where are you guys going?" Susan's entire demeanor changed. Her malicious smile was replaced by an attempt at a pleasant grimace.
"We got an invitation from the Smith's" Aideen said, trying to remain polite while glaring.
"Oh...How lovely! I hope you have fun Violet" Her tone was overly cheery, with one last malevolent glance she turned away and walked off to the front of the store.
"Is she finally gone?" Spot was back pulling a black button down vest over his head.
"Don't do that Finn! You're going to rip it!"
Aideen boxed Spot on the ears. I let out a light laugh trying to shake the feeling of fear out of my bones.
"Violet! Get in the water!"
That was the tenth time Spot had wailed at me. I was counting.
I was just going to ignore him until he stopped.
But boy was I wrong.
It got too quiet, it was too calm.
I got a last glimpse of sunlight before the small canoe tipped over.
The cold water hit my skin like a slap. I was only under the water for a few seconds before I bobbed back up.
"Spot! You're such a jerk!" I splashed as much water as I could at Spot.
It only made him laugh harder.
The canoe was still face down, while glaring at Spot I turned it over and swam after the paddles.
I was shivering from the water when I got back on.
"Its cold up there, Violet. I'll keep you warm down here" Spot wiggled his eyebrows at me.
"Go away" I said and continued to hug my knees to my chest.
"Baby, I'm sorry. Let me make it up to you"
I tried to blow my wet curls out of my face but they just hung limply from my face. They looked like wet noddles.
"Babe" Oh lord the sing -song voice "I have something for you"
I was going to hit him so hard all the handsome was going to go flying halfway around the lake.
"Sweet Peas!"
That was the last thing I heard before the canoe tipped over. Again.
If I was mad before I was livid now.
When I resurfaced, I saw a cackling Spot swimming away. How was he doing that?
Huffing angrily, I swam after him.
Spot was such a child.
He was going to pay so bad for this.
Reaching the shore, Spot took off running, still laughing.
With an angry groan, I stood, my drenched clothes pulling me down.
I ran towards where I had last seen Spot. He was long gone but I was going to find him if it was the last thing I did.
The sand turned into dirt which turned into grass.
My feet were wet making me slip on the grass. I almost fell twice. If getting tipped over into freezing water wasn't bad enough already.
I stopped to catch my breath, that was mistake number one.
Spot sneaked up behind me and picked me up by the waist, he flipped me over like a tortilla and threw me over his shoulder.
"You Barbarian! Let me go" I pounded on his back. That was my second mistake.
Spot set me down in front of a tree.
My teeth clattered as I talked "I-I'm- s-o mad-d a-a-t y-you!"
I began to pound on his chest.
He stopped my hands and chuckled, letting him stop me was mistake three.
Mistake four was more costly.
I answered his question.
"Are you still cold?" He asked, trying to hide a smirk.
Glaring I said "Wha-t-t d-do you t-t-think?"
He brought his face really close to mine. His breath puffed warmly on my nose. His arms trapped me against the tree. I knew what he was going to do.
It was really soft, barely even there but I felt it completely. The second time he made sure to press me fully against the tree, the bark digging into my back. His hands repositioned themselves on my burning cheeks. His lips were like velvet. They tasted like the wine they had served us when we arrived.
He pulled away.
"I told you I'd get you warm"
Eh? Let me know what you think. Oh and you're not going to believe what I listened to while writing this.
