Hello people, sorry it took so long.

Oh and Giggles789 it was songs from the 80's about stalkers. I don't know at the time I thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Spot and I had arrived around two in the afternoon in New York Central Station, we set off at ten in the morning and had a five hour ride in first class. I slept most of the way so I didn't feel it.

"I need to get rid of this stupid coat " Spot said, shrugging off the expensive brown suit coat. He threw it on the ground and got rid of his tie.

What was with him?

I picked up both of the discarded items.

"Spot your parents paid a lot of money for that" I scolded, dusting off the coat.

"So?" He asked rolling his eyes.

I glared at his moving form.

Something was different, his attitude had changed as soon as we stepped off the train. He walked with a swagger I hadn't seen since the day we met. His shoulders back, looking down his nose at every thing that passed by.

"Keep up Violet" The command came out sharp and unforgiving. I picked up my pace and ran to his side.

"Stay close to me. I don't want you walking behind me" He said, pushing the doors open against the crowd.

"Why?" I asked, giving an apologetic glance at the man Spot pushed by.

"Just do it"

I only scowled. He better have a good reason for his jerkiness.

Pushing past rushing New Yorkers was something in which I had fallen out of practice. Usually I could speed-walk just as fast but for the past month I had led a very sedentary life.

Spot didn't have a problem with shoving and racing amongst everyone else.

So it was no surprise when I lost him in the crowd.

I could stay here and get in everyone's way or make my way to Brooklyn.

We were both headed the same way. I'm sure I would find him there, eventually.

Taking my time, I made it two blocks towards the southern east side when someone grabbed my arm and pushed me into an alley.

I was about to scream bloody murder but then I realized it was Spot.

"Where were you?!" He shouted, his eyes hectically jumping around the place.

"I lost you so I decided to head to Brooklyn, I knew that was where you were going" I said, noticing how tense he looked. His body was rigid as if he was awaiting an attack.

"Don't do that again...you scared me" He pointed his index finger at me before pulling me back into the crowd.

He let me go, keeping me in front of him.

It was half an hour before we made it to the Brooklyn Bridge. That's when he relaxed. But he didn't lose the cockiness.

"Violet, I won't be seeing a lot of you from now on but when you can go to the docks, I'll be waiting"

That-that...that jerk.

He gave me a heated kiss in front of every one. I was so surprised I dropped his stupid coat.

The idiot didn't even say goodbye.

Hoping my cheeks weren't burning anymore, I turned the knob to the apartment.

I had a story for them. I wasn't going to tell them what actually happened.

The knob didn't turn, it was locked. The door was locked. It was never locked.

I knocked as loudly and as hard as I could.

But it only got me unwanted attention.

Caroline Fisher.

"Violet? I thought you were missing"

I frowned at the blond woman.

"I-uh was in Boston" I said, taking in how her hazel eyes were glued to the expensive coat hanging from my arm "Can you tell me where my aunt is?"

"You didn't know? Your family moved sweetheart. You guys couldn't afford to live here after what happened"

What was she talking about?

"What happened?" I asked, nausea starting in my belly.

"Of course you wouldn't know" She looked down at the ground before setting her eyes on me with sympathy"Your Uncle was mugged coming home from work. They shot him and left him on the street"

I fought tears as I raced to the address that was given to me.

Desensitizing myself was becoming harder.

The smell of gutter hit my nostrils making it harder not to cry.

I looked at the numbers painted on the rotting doors.

When I found number nineteen, I knocked.

I anxiously waited for them to open. Their was rustling from the ripped curtains in the window.

The door flew open, two dirty hands wrapped themselves around me.

Fletcher's frail body shook with sobs. I picked him up and entered the dark room.

Our furniture looked out of place in the small room.

"Violet?" Rose was sitting on the bed, in her nightgown. She looked dirty.

"Hey Rose" I said, sitting down next her. She threw her arms around my neck.

"Mommy said you were gone" She said, her greasy hair rubbing against my cheek.

"I'm back now. Where's your mom, Rose?" I asked, smoothing her hair down.

"She's working" Fletcher said. Wiping his nose.

"Where?" I questioned, untangling the sooty limbs from me.

"Same place, she just works longer" Fletcher answered, rubbing the tears from his eyes.

"All right then. Now tell me why are you so dirty?" I questioned, getting rid of my own unshead tears.

"The pump is too heavy and Mommy is always too tired so we can't" Rose explained.

"Well show me where it is and I'll give it a try'

Twenty minutes later. Fletcher and Rose sat at the kitchen table munching on a sandwich, both clean. After I lit some candles, I came to realize that the place wasn't so bad. Only the bottom of the wall paper was pealing and after a good scrub the floor would be more than okay.

Suitcases were piled around the room. While they ate I decided to start fixing the place up to keep my mind off of things.

When I found my old dresses I went into the tiny bathroom and changed. I folded the fancy dress the Conlon's had given me and set it at the bottom drawer of the wardrobe in the middle of the room.

After much effort, I pushed it against the wall and started to set all of the clothes in it. It only took me around three hours but the place was finally habitable. My head was pounding from all the work and the fact that I had only eaten a slice of cheese and bread. Wiping the sweat of my forehead with a rag, I finally let myself fall on what used to be my bed.

Rose and Fletcher sat on the floor playing with some old toys. The door was locked and they knew better then to open the door to strangers. If I closed my eyes and slept.

I was back at that one alley. It was endless.

My bare feet kept running on fire.

The flames where all around me, licking and flicking up my legs.

They turned into chains, clawing around my thighs. I tripped over the the metal and fell into a black hole.

"Remember me?"

I turned towards the voice. It was tonguelicker, his tongue kept slipping in and out of his mouth like a snake.

"Lets have some fun" That came behind me.

My head snapped and I wanted to die. It was the boy from the alley.

They kept coming closer. I looked up at the only light that came from the top of the room, it was orange from the flames.

I pulled on the chains around my feet. They tightened even more. With a cry, I tried to turn and run only to fall.

Instead of going into a hole I stayed there but the room transformed into Susan's private room.

Ceramics started to rain on me as she approached. They poured from the hole I had fallen in, a white cloud of dust rising around me.

The cloud enveloped me whole. Everything around me was white. My lungs started to burn from all the dust I was inhaling. My eyes watered from the lack of oxygen. I started to cough.

My heartbeat pounded in my ears. It rushed up to my head.

Suddenly I was back at the lake and it was night. I was chained to the canoe, my feet felt wet. I looked down at the liquid. It was too warm to be water. I reached down to touch it, lifting up my wet finger tips I realized it was blood. I recoiled and started to trash against the chains on my feet. The blood in the canoe started to rise, soon I was submerged and it looked like a bedroom, my childhood bedroom. The canoe dissipated to glass around my feet. It cut and dug into my feet slowly the water started too turn into more glass and it rose around my body. It reached my knees and then my hips, my waist, my shoulders, my neck. It rested against my cheeks, reaching towards my upturned eyes.

My eyes finally flew open.

I gasped for air as everything came clear into vision.

"Violet are you okay?"

My aunts warm face came into my line of vision. Her features sketched in exhaustion and fatigue.

I hugged her. That's all I really wanted to do. I only wanted to hug her.
