Chapter 16: A revolution alive

'You can't keep her alive by doing that', Fiyero could still hear his mother speak those very cruel words. 'You're a father now!'. Like she didn't have a hand in Elphaba's dead, it was her fault that she even got arrested. It was all her fault, but it didn't make any of the sadness go away. They only had such a short time as an actual family and even that small time was something he never wanted to give up. How did he become the leader of the revolution? Or how did he get in contact with other people of the revolution, he was a guard of the Gale Force they were not going to talk to him. Especially since he was perfectly aware of the truth that surrounded the wizard.

This was the truth, a truth every member of the Gale force guarded with their life. Every fire, murder and destruction of property pointed to the wicked Witch of the West was actually their doing. He was ashamed of it, since knowing the truth was so hard. He pulled away, maybe the information could mean something to the revolution. Maybe they could go over the heads of the leaders. Maybe he needed to get in contact with someone, but they couldn't know what his name was.
"Fiyero, whatever you're planning to do…" Baxiana replied "I want to remind you, that it is probably very stupid, but you already know that."
"It's not stupid." Fiyero spoke. "I'm heading to Quadling country, I heard somewhere there has to be someone in contact with plans."

"Are you going to leave your children as orphans?" She turned to him. "They already lost their mother, they can't lose you. Fiyero, you're the heir to the kingdom."
"That doesn't matter…"

"Are you saying that Elphaba wanted this?" She took a step closer. "No mother wants their children left alone, Elphaba wants you to hold on. She wants you to take care of your children. Fiyero?"
"Elphaba wants the animals to be saved." He turned away. "You don't know Elphaba, you made it so Elphaba got killed. You don't get to speak Elphaba's last words…"
"I know that my reaction was a direct way Elphaba died, but…"

"Leave it mother." He stepped away, he took a bag emptying part of his closets. He needed to take as little as possible, but he still needed something to wear. So he pulled underwear from the closet, threw it in the bag and grabbed for a pants or two. He put something to wear above it and closed the bag for a moment. He stepped in the guest room where his children were still sound asleep. He had only few clothes for them, the ones that Elphaba was carrying in a bag. He placed the bags in his big one. And put some small clothes in it, they had to leave all the toys behind, Ally loved the toys, he knew that. Yet he couldn't take all of it, he managed to push a few toys in the bag. He quietly stepped outside the room, grabbing the doll on the table. He stared at his mother, he moved on to the kitchen cabinets, grabbing any food he could use and anything that could be kept on a journey. He hoped to find more when they were underway.
"Fiyero, what you're doing is wrong."

"I'm not listening…" He sang.

Nessa stared at the night sky, she couldn't believe how time healed Elphaba's wounds. She was getting better as Nessa was standing still, off course she didn't have physical wounds, her wounds were deeper, emotional, they were mostly made of guilt and shame. The idea that she did not deserve the things she was getting. She released a tear. She had done a lot in the last few years, she had given everything she thought she should. Yet where Elphaba forgiven her, she had not. She thought the thing she did was something not anyone should be forgiven off. It wasn't just the cruel thing she said that day, it was everything she did to Elphaba growing up. Nothing, the absence of help was the thing she hated the most of herself. She never stood up for Elphaba, she let her father harm her, knowing that he would stop if she voiced her anger. She was guilty of treating her own sister as a servant, of not sharing things. Maybe being like a child, why had she done that? Because Nessa had never seen Elphaba's world, she always wanted everything her sister had. Her beauty, her smarts, her strong will, it wasn't about the walking. She wanted to be Elphaba in a wheel chair. In all honesty, she believed Elphaba was the beauty one.

When she was little, Nessa would apply green paint to her skin to look more like Elphaba. Elphaba didn't know, her father would never let her sister know, that she as the baby wanted to be like her. That was a shame.

So she believed Elphaba had everything and she had nothing, even when people made fun of her. Even when people were overly nice to her, she wanted to be her sister. And it drove her to all of the things she had done and she couldn't be forgiven, she could never be forgiven.

She moved her hands to her cheek, she removed the tears. She looked down at the forest. A monkey flew towards her.
"We have word that there is a new one who wants to join the order, my.." She moved her hand in front of the monkey's mouth.

"I don't want you to call me that." She replied. "Make sure you send whoever this rebel is here, we wouldn't want him to mess up our plan."
"Sure." The monkey nodded his head.

"Make sure this volunteer gets here alive." She reacted. "We don't want him to die, volunteers don't grow in the wild here in Oz. We need this one, we can't have him make stupid moves. Good?"

"Good."

"You surely run a strong ship around here." Nathaniel stood behind her, his arms were crossed and he stared at her. She had never really looked at him, actually, she never looked at anyone but Boq and that part had never gone good. She found out that Boq did take her on a pity date, because he was in love with Glinda and part of her was happy that she didn't know that during high school. Where was Boq now? He had moved on over Glinda and married someone that he lived with in Munchkin land, he was happy and she was happy for that. Slowly she turned around facing Nathaniel.
"The ship pretty much rules itself…" She spoke. "They know what to do, they just ask to make me feel useful."

"I'm sure that's not true."

"It's true." She stepped to the other side of the balcony. "I did the first steps of this organisation, they see me as a leader, yeah. I however won't call me as vital to the rebellion as Elphaba is. I'm just a small wheel in a clock, you know the once without any meaning, the ones you can just remove without an result."
"You do no such thing exists." A smile appeared on her face as he stepped closer. She noticed how handsome he was, how his eyes caught the moonlight. His brown hair and brown eyes were an epic combination, there was something that happened to her when she heard his voice. "Every part in a clock is important, there is not one part that is of vital importance."

"The one telling the time seems more important…" Nessa smiled.

He smiled for a moment staring at the sky, Nessa looked little like Elphaba did. She had long brown hair, blue eyes and a pale skin. She didn't have any part that looked like Elphaba, she was sweet and down to earth and it seemed she was pushed under a rock of her own making. Guilt, he was sure of it. When she smiled at him, she could feel something inside. He liked the sound, it felt strong than anything he had for Elphaba, it felt like she opened up something. Was this because he wanted to find someone new? Or had he just stumbled in on his true love?
"Do you think that there's a clock out there for every clock?" He heard her voice and stared to her in confusion. A clock for every clock? It was still a metaphor? Why was she asking after it? Was she talking about love? And was she wondering the same as him? Was there a true love for everyone? He had always believed so and he always believed he would find her. He made himself believe that Elphaba was it for him, yet he had known that she wasn't for so long.

"I don't know…" She looked disappointed. "I hope so…"

"Can they stop deserving love?" She blushed, she had just screwed up her clocks thing and now he was truly aware they were talking about love. Well, he had most definitely known. At least that is what she thought.
"What do you mean?" He saw that she showed pain in her eyes. "I think that you cannot stop deserving love, not when a person changed their ways. When you find someone who cares for you, everything will melt away in front of the snow."
She smiled again, a soft smile.

"I always thought Elphaba was the pretty one…" Nessa shook her head. "I made her feel bad, because I was jealous, someone like that doesn't deserve love."
"Jealousy is normal about being a sister." He smiled. "I think you were nice for watching past her skin."

"People are dumb." Nessa rolled her eyes. "If people were not so blind, they would be making the moves on my sister."

"I agree with you." He smiled moving closer to her. For a moment, they didn't say anything. They stood there, enjoying everything around them. There were no jokes that could be made anymore, no clocks to be seen and everything they loved was around them.

They didn't know that there was a girl standing behind them with a smile on her face. Elphaba stood there, a bright smile on her face. They had found each other, they would be getting together in a short time, she could see that. There was something in Nathaniel's eyes and she was happy that her sister got him. He was all kinds of good, she noticed he wasn't the same as he was with her. Love was taking him quietly, there was no green skin to make anything stronger. It was following the timing it wanted.
"E.." Elphaba pushed Glinda inside.
"Glinda, .." She pushed Glinda to her room. "Don't you dare push them…"

"Nessa and my brother?" Glinda opened her eyes wider.

"No." Elphaba pointed to Glinda as she would to a dog. "You are not going to push them together, they don't need your meddling."
"Elphaba, I want…" Glinda had her eyes opened wide, as if she were trying to stop doing something annoying. "I need…"
"No!" Elphaba pointed to her again.
"Look, I'm a master at this…"

"That doesn't mean you need to interfere." Elphaba spoke. "Glinda the best love grows on its own. For ones, just do things the normal way, things are uncanny around here. It's fun to have something feel like normal."
"Me being the puppet master is like normal." Glinda smiled.
"Okay, so you are chosen for your uncanny behaviour." Elphaba replied. "Glinda, we will have to see this grow, I mean."
"Do you know what this means?"

"I'm unaware of what this means…" Elphaba raised an eyebrow.
"If your sister and my brother get married…" Glinda started to jump up and down. "We'll be like sisters. We'll be family."
"Not actual sisters…" Elphaba reacted. " And not actual family…"
"Don't you screw this up." She opened her arms wide. "Come in my arms, sister."

Elphaba raised an eyebrow as Glinda pulled Elphaba in her arms. It was pretty strange, there were no words Elphaba could use and she had not expected this move, she was still feeling strange with this physical love, but she was getting used to it.

Fiyero had bought a something to carry everything he owned, Ally and Walked lied in it sleeping as he pulled it over the yellow brick road. It had been long since he left the emerald city and he never walked over this road by night, ,they couldn't see they were leaving. No one could know and as he could see the city move away behind him, he looked to the darkness in front. There was danger out there, but nothing that would come to him. He stepped on, heading forwards. With a torch he lighted the yellow brick road, so he wouldn't go of it. He needed to straight on and left, that is what he thought. Maybe light would bring him lessons. His mother had kept talking before her left and he had not taken her advice, he had left. Was she right? Yes, but that was not something he would ever admit to her. It was that he missed Elphaba and couldn't live without her, yet there were two kids who needed him, they didn't need him to walk straight to his trap, yet that was exactly what he was doing.

What was he doing? Where was he going? Did he actually know he would find anyone? And what would he do to win their trust?

Did they know he wanted to join them? He did found an animal who knew about the organisation, someone he had seen and knew he was with Elphaba. He had spoken that he wanted to do something, maybe that was the animal. As she went on, he shook up by a sound coming from behind him.
"Fear me not, mister." The monkey said. "I come straight from Animal leader, she wants you to join her. At the barn in Munchkin land."

"Her?"
"Our master wants to make sure that you won't commit to any stupidity." A smile appeared on his face.

"Did she say that?"
"Yes." The animal nodded. "Volunteers don't grow wild in Oz."
"They do if you pay attention to what the rumours say."

"Follow me, mister." He spoke. "I'll bring you to our master, just don't say I called her master, she doesn't like that."
"I thought females liked that…"

REVIEUW! That's it!
