I ran up to the roof to find Kayla with Robert, AJ, Oliver and Jake.
"Kayla!" I say as we get to the roof
"Huh?" Kayla turns around
"Lucas is gone. We've got to go now if we want any chance of finding anything." Jake says quickly
"Well, let's go!" Oliver exclaims
"Here," Robert tried to open the roof door "guys, it's jammed. I think were stuck."
"No, there's a certain pattern of vines, that if you go down correctly, you have perfect footing and handles." AJ shrugs "I spend a lot of time up here."
Once everyone successfully got down, running through the forests was easy. And by the time we got to the barn, Lucas was still gone.
"Where do we go?" I ask
"Where does every creep in every horror movie set up his master plan?" Kayla asks
"Basement." Jake concludes, and we all give him a side look "oh right, cellar."
"And there's a side entrance to that place around the back." Robert nods and points to the back of the building
Once we got to the basement, I was shocked and disturbed. On two walls, photos of us. All of us, especially of Kayla and Robert and myself. Double myself. When I turned to the right, I saw a map. A giant map of the school grounds. I look at it, and I saw he had our routes down.
"Guys." AJ points to the map too
"It's our routes from and to school. He's obviously got a plan." I turn around "Look at this, he's been doing this all year, but he has to be in league with someone. This guy is genius, but you can't do this alone."
"What do we do then?" Oliver asks
"We make a plan of our own-" Jake says as we hear a creaking from above "someone's here. Be quiet."
We all sneak to where the escape was quietly. But we knew we wouldn't get out in time, he was coming closer. I pressed my back against the wall in the alcove where the outside access trapdoor was. There was a small space of extra wall you could hide behind. I sucked in my breath and closed my eyes. And for the first time in years, I prayed.
We were screwed. So very screwed
