A/N: Chapter eight~! Whooh~! This chapter's so short! I'm sowy! T_T
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN POKEMON.
"Hi, Veronica, I'm Dawn. It's nice to meet you," Dawn greeted, politely, though it was obvious Veronica was making her feel uncomfortable.
All Dawn got was a look of disgust in return. "Hey, Gary, why don't we ditch these losers and go make out?" Veronica asked Gary, twirling her blonde locks with her finger and batting her eyelashes.
Drew made a gesture, meaning he felt like he wanted to barf. After getting a glare from Gary, he covered it up lamely with a cough.
Gary kissed Veronica on the cheek. "Alrighty, let's go." He winked, turning to his friends. "Smell ya later."
Veronica giggled, and they walked away together. Her retreating figure got a not-so-subtle glare from Leaf.
"Catch you guys later. Hope you don't miss e too much," Drew said, walking off in the opposite direction Gary did.
"As if!" May yelled.
As soon as he was out of earshot, Leaf spoke up, "Agh! I hate Veronica, and Gary too. Seriously, he just goes on a date with a girl and never calls them back. It's just so annoying!"
Dawn gasped, purposely overdramatically. "Is Leafy jealous?" she teased, causing Leaf to blush a light shade of red.
"No!" she yelled, drawing a bit of attention. May put a hand on her shoulder, causing Leaf to look at her questionably.
"Leaf, c'mon, we know you like Gary," she said matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, well, we all know you like Drew," Leaf retorted, desperately wanting to change the subject.
May blushed red. "This isn't about me! This is about you!" May said.
"Seriously, guys, I don't have a crush on Gary!" Leaf exclaimed.
"Yeah, more like madly in love," Dawn teased, as she burst into giggles along with May.
"Guys, this isn't funny!"
"Hey, guys, what's up?" Misty asked, joining the group.
"I think I understand your situation," May said to Leaf, understandingly.
"What?" Leaf asked, genuinely confused.
"Guys, anyone want to fill me in on what's happening?" Misty asked.
"Oh, nothing much. We're just talking about Leaf's crush on Gary!" Dawn told Misty, giggling.
Misty's eyes widened. "Oh my gosh! I knew it!" Dawn nodded enthusiastically.
"We all know you like Gary. Don't even bother denying it. But you feel like if you go out with him, he'll dump you after one date just like the other girls," May explained, getting her stares of disbelief.
"What?" she asked.
"It's just… you're not the best with romance," Dawn said, cautiously.
"I am too!" May argued.
"Not with your own love life," Leaf muttered under her breath.
"Whatever. Point is, you want to trust him but can't because of all the girls he dates," she continued, leaving Leaf to meekly nod.
"But he likes you! I mean, he flirt with you all the time. And the way he looks at you, it gives it away!" Dawn said.
"He looks at all girls that way, and he flirt with pretty much everyone," Leaf denied, not believing Dawn.
"I'm sure he'll be happy to change for you," Dawn said reassuringly.
Misty spoke, "You know, Leaf, they're right."
The bell cut off their conversation. "Right. That's the bell. Gotta go to homeroom, see you!" Leaf said, hurriedly.
Misty's hand clamped onto Leaf's arm. "Leaf, we're all in the same homeroom. You can't escape that easily."
Leaf groaned, as the others laughed.
May's words kept on ringing through her head.
We all know you like Gary. Don't even bother denying it. But you feel like if you go out with him, he'll dump you after one date just like the other girls.
In homeroom, Leaf was fairly quiet. Well, more quiet than usual. Subconsciously, her gaze landed on Gary. She only noticed when Gary smirked and winked at her. Leaf blinked, before rolling her eyes. Turning away in annoyance, she felt heat rise up to her cheeks.
At lunch break, Gary had invited Veronica to sit with them. She was sitting on Gary's lap and they were flirting. Leaf looked at them in disgust, before turning away.
May and Dawn gave me mock-sympathetic looks, with Misty shaking her head. Leaf glare at them the same way Paul glares at just about everything.
"They are not!" May growled.
"Are too," Drew said calmly, with a smirk.
"Are not!"
"Are too."
"Are not!"
Dawn cut in, "What are you guys even arguing about?"
May glanced around the room, before sheepishly speaking up, "I forgot."
Misty slammed her head against the cafeteria table, which made Ash stare with wide eyes. "Mist, are you okay?"
"Fine," Misty replied.
Ash shrugged, and started munching on his lunch.
Leaf glanced at Dawn, who was currently poking a scowling Paul. Really, it was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Have you located it?" a gruff voice asked.
"It's not in Kanto, nor Unova. We're still not quite sure about the other regions," a man responded.
"Right. Send a party to search Hoenn. We can deal with the other's later."
The man nodded. "Yes, sir."
Misty kicked the soccer ball, successfully scoring a goal. A crowd of cheers were heard, and a whistle was blown.
"Game! That team wins!" the gym teacher said, pointing to his left.
Leaf was about to walk away and get a drink, before she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around, spotting one of her classmate.
"Um. Hi, Leaf," he greeted.
"Hey, Red, what's up?" Leaf asked, not knowing why Red would randomly come up to her.
"I was wondering, did you want to go out sometime?" Red asked, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh, um. Aren't we already outside though?" Leaf asked, not knowing how to answer his question properly.
"No, um. I meant, are you single?"
"I'm plural?" Leaf half asked.
"No. Um, are you free this Friday?"
"Free? What am I, some item from a store?"
"Jeez, how dense can a girl get," he muttered under his breath.
Leaf looked at him, offended. "I'm not the dense one here. Take a hint," she said, scowling.
Red held both arms up in surrender, before walking away.
"Wow, Leaf. Since when were you so cold?" Misty asked, approaching her.
Leaf sighed. "I'll apologise later. I'm just… not in the mood today."
Misty nodded understandingly. "Well, good game. See you later?"
Leaf nodded, left alone with her thoughts.
~The next day~
Dawn took a deep breath, knowing today was the last day to make her decision. She thought back to the day, mentally analyzing his words.
She noticed something; the word assassin was never mentioned. Dawn made her decision. Although the more she thought about it, the more unsure she was.
Glancing down at her mobile phone, she dialed a number.
"Hello?" an unfamiliar voice answered the phone.
A/N: Hope you liked it and please leave a review~! :D
