*sniff sniff* You smell that? That is the wonderful smell of character development. Isn't it lovely? I'm a big fan of character development. Haha anyway, I hope ya enjoy! I apologize for any grammar errors. I changed the POV after I wrote most of it. I might've forgot something. Let me know what your think! READ ON!

*Flashback*

"Oh hey Loke. What's up?" Lucy smiled alongside her best friend, Lisanna Strauss. The orange-haired 'sweetheart' walked their way.

"I just aced my Astronomy test! What about you guys?" He grinned. Lucy considered Lisanna, Loke, and herself to be great friends. Loke would always come to talk to them, and she bet Loke liked Lisanna back. She said back because Lisanna said that she's liked Loke since they were kids. It's kind of ironic that Lisanna and Lucy both knew Loke when they were kids before they knew each other. Now, as 7th graders, they were best friends, and together with Loke, they were pretty much The Three Musketeers. Well maybe not, but still, it sounded pretty cool when she said it, right? No? Oh, well, Lucy thought it sounded great.

Anyway, Lisanna likes the guy, and Lucy can kinda see why. Loke has short, orange hair (Lucy thought of it as more of a strawberry-blonde or gold, but whatever), and he has these mysterious golden eyes (which make Lis swoon on the inside) that he hides behind tinted glasses. ( By the way, the guy has a thing for orange and green, don't ask her). His face is rather good-looking for someone who has barely even hit puberty yet, but even then, Lucy couldn't look at him as more than a friend. He's practically her cousin anyway. But Lisanna was all over it.

"He's my prince." or "The definition of perfect hotness" She's always saying, or something along those lines. A new one is "Supreme Hotness." She just recently started using that one.

Anyway. . .

"I think I just bombed my social studies quiz. Hopefully Miss Alberona will drink some extra booze before she grades those tests." Lisanna sulked.

"Cheer up Lisanna. Surely you couldn't be as bad as I am in Social Studies. Next to me, you'll look like some sort of God." Loke stated. He was always out to cheer her up. Sweet if you ask Lucy. Lisanna giggled.

"Yeah. You sort of bombed every test that we had this year. And Miss Alberona is usually drunk when she grades. Why is she even a teacher anyway?" Loke shrugged. Lucy was about ready to turn and leave when Loke grabbed her elbow.

"Can I talk to you after English?" He asked, his eyes strangely serious (for a 7th grade boy anyway). The blonde shrugged, assuming he was going to ask her to tutor him for the big test in social studies (Miss Alberona was forbidden to drink while grading this one. She's always complaining about it). Why she was allowed to drink during class in the first place is beyond anyone.

"Sure. Meet me at my locker I guess." The blonde gave her best friend an apologetic look. They were supposed to go to the library after English and stay there during the free hour.

'Sorry' She mouthed.

'It's alright. Details later!' Lisanna mouthed back excitedly. She loved getting more information on Loke. It made her feel closer to him, she'd always say.

English had just ended and Loke was waiting at Lucy's locker when she went to put her books away. She smiled.

"Hey Loke, seems like you're on time for once in your life." The young girl laughed. He brought a hand to his heart and faked angust.

"I'm wounded Lucy. This agony is almost unbearable." Lucy giggled and nudged him with her elbow.

"That's what I was going for. To see you suffer."

"That one there, just killed me. I'm dead Lucy. Dead. I bet you're gonna bury my dead body behind the school in an unmarked grave, and poor, poor Lisanna, will never know that her best friend Lucy, killed the best looking guy on the planet." She laughed some more and poked his forehead.

"I killed the best looking guy on planet? I don't remember killing Laxus. . . I mean I've been on this killing spree for quite a while now, but I don't remember killing Laxus. And my burial ground is your front lawn by the way. Don't dig around the big sakura tree." This time it was his turn to laugh. We were walking about the school yard now. (When we started walking, I don't know, but we were outside now.)

Lisanna was in the library because regardless on whether Lucy was with her or not, she needed to study. She rested her hand on her palm and sighed. Studying was boring without Lucy. She wasn't there to make her jokes about the periodic table. If she was there right now, she'd already be saying 'AU, where's my gold!?' Lame, but effective. Lisanna sighed again and peered out the window. Speak of the devil. Lucy was just below the window having a hell of a time with Loke. Letting the jealousy get the better of her, Lisanna nudged the window open just enough to hear them.

"I like you Lucy. Like in some sort of romantic way." He blurted out. Lisanna flinched. She figured it was that way for a while now, but it still hurt to hear it.

"Huh?" Lucy responded lamely.

"You're pretty and smart. And really funny. And you're super nice. I just really like you. A lot."

"Sorry Loke. . . Let's just stay friends okay." Lucy apologized. Lisanna, well, she got pretty mad. She closed the window, cried a little, and tried to pretend it never happen. Everyday, Loke would talk to them like nothing happened. And Lucy would laugh and make jokes like every other day. Lisanna just floated along in a sinking boat. It was bound to go under one of these days. One thing led to another and the boat sank.

"Just stop Lucy." Lisanna said in a low voice.

"Huh?" They'd been walking to school together like they did every morning.

"I heard it all you know. Loke likes you, you turned him down, and yet to this day, you bat your eyes and show off a cute smile. Just stop giving us false hope."

"I'm not flirting Lisanna, I told you before he's practically my cousin. I wouldn't do that to y-" Lucy started.

"Cut the crap Lucy! You're such an effing flirt! Any cute guy that walks your way, you put on the flirty eyes and give a cute giggle! I hate it!" At this point, Lisanna didn't even know where everything was coming from, whether she thought it or not, the words were out there. Lucy looked hurt.

"Lis, This isn't you. You said it yourself, I turned him down. This "flirting" or whatever you say I do, is really called kindness. I don't bat my eyes or giggle for that matter. Do you really think that about me?"

Lisanna nodded, tears slowly piling in her eyes. "Yeah Lucy I do. You don't leave any happiness for me. You soak it all up like a sponge. Just fuck it and this friendship." She started to run, and Lucy tried to chase after her.

*end of flashback*

Lucy POV

"Lisanna!" I continued to chase after my ex-best friend. No matter how hard I wished to hate her, I never really could. She was my closest friend, not to mention my first ever real friend. You can't just suddenly hate someone like that, y'know? She was so sweet before that whole Loke incident.

She finally stopped running when we got to the back of the building. "Why Lucy? Why the hell can't you leave me any happiness? Wasn't Loke's attention enough? I finally move on, but you decide you want Natsu's attention too."

"That isn't it Lisanna. Natsu talks to me. Do you really think I'm out to get everybody's attention? Because if I was, I sure wouldn't have hauled ass to chase after ya." I couldn't help it. The irritation just slipped into my voice. Not in anyway my fault.

"Why the hell did you run after me Lucy?" She questioned. She looked rather cowardly like I was gonna beat the shit out of her or something. She looked wimpy and hurt.

"I don't know actually. Just felt like it." It was the truth actually.

"Then walk away. I don't like you. Your bitchiness is clouding my vision." She said with weak venom lacing her voice.

"No, those are tears Lisanna. My bitchiness is actually not present at the moment. I chased after you after all." I said matter of factly. i sighed and held out my hand.

"Truce." She glared at my hand like it was coated in some sort of poison.

"Why?" She asked suspiciously.

"Look Lisanna. If you want to hate me for something I had no control over, fine by me. I just thought that maybe we could put that behind us and not act like spoiled little kids. Life just sucks and we just have to deal with it. I'm not out to make your life into an eternal hell. So are we gonna shake hands and call it even or not?" I asked rather irritated. She hesitantly shook my hand. She then stood tall, like she was happy that this was finally over.

"I have no intentions of befriending my rival, but I guess a little friendly competition will suffice. I guess this is a truce then." She said, shaking my hand with one hand and wiping her tears with the other. She gave a small smile and waved as she walked ahead of me to class. Now I just gotta tell stupid-idiot-face about it and my two best friends.

All seemed right in the world. I had two great, girl best friends, an amazing but surprisingly cheeky guy best friend, and his group of friends and my group of friends merged into one fantastic big group of friends. I called truce with my ex-bestfriend/ex-bully. My guy best friend and I almost finished our English paper, and I accepted the fact that stupid-idiot-face wasn't exactly stupid or an idiot (not that I'd admit that). All was right in the world until I realized something devastating. I had to deal with Natsu for the next 7 and a half hours just to walk over to his stupid house to work on the assignment until we finish. Best friend or not, he's fucking insane.

*END OF CHAPTER*

OKAY! I know. Y'all probably wanna kill me because it's summer and I don't have a life so I should be writing, BUT I have summer school for health which makes the thought of picking up a pencil undesirable. I haven't even drawn which is something I usually do all the time. They cram a years worth of health into 6 weeks (5 excruciating hours a day) and give us unpalatable food. Sorry. In a few weeks it'll be over and I'll get a month off before I *sigh* have to start my agonizing high school life. On the bright side, I made a new friend. I call her Ven cos she has a long name and I suck at names (& faces but whatever) ANYCRAP, I'll update soon. See ya next chapter lovelys! (Idek)
