Um. . . I wanna say thank you to those who left kind reviews and followed and favorited me and my story. Thank you. ONWARDS WITH THE STORY!
"LUCY!" My little blue-haired best friend panted. It looked like she had been running.
"The. . . strangest. . . thing. . . hold on. . ." She proceeded to catch her breath.
"Lu-chan! The strangest thing happened before class just now! Lisanna just apologized! I can't believe it? Do you think she's okay? Why would she do that?" She threw questions, leaving me no time to answer, when Erza came walking up.
"Lucy. I think Lisanna has gotten ahold of some drugs" The scarlet beauty said seriously. Levy gasped.
"YOU THINK SO TOO, ERZA?" She asked somewhat excitedly. She was probably thinking about a novel she read about drugs and gangs. She'll read anything under the sun, I could almost bet my life on it. Erza nodded curtly and it was my turn to talk.
"Guys. She isn't on drugs. It's a truce. We called truce." I said tiredly. Natsu had bothered me all through third hour, so I was exhausted.
"That makes some sense, but why? She was so mean to you. And Aries." Levy questioned adorably. I smiled.
"As I've always said 'forgive and forget'." Levy puffed out her cheeks and Erza chuckled.
"That's so not true Lu-chan! You almost always hold a grudge. Like that one on Natsu. Yesterday you even said 'I'll never forgive that bastard for eating my ice-cream'." Damn her. "You still bring up the time when I spilled my drink on your white converse, too!"
"Point taken. So are we heading to lunch or are we gonna stand here? I'm starved."I watched Levy blushed slightly.
"Sorry Lu-chan. I'm meeting Gajeel for lunch. I gotta go bye!" And before I even had a chance to tease her, she ran off in all her wavy-blue hair glory. I pouted and turned to my other best friend.
"Just us huh, Erza?" I asked. At least I get to make fun of Levy later. Erza shook her head.
"Sorry Lucy, but I told that idiot Fullbuster that I'd eat with him. He promised Ul's cheesecake." She waved, probably feeling guilty. Damn that Fullbuster, bribing my poor, innocent Erza with cheesecake. I sighed, realizing my best friends were being taken away by idiot boys, and-
"OI! LUCY! WHERE ARE LEVY AND THE DEMON?" Natsu yelled. Speaking of idiot boys.
"With your idiot friends. So I guess I'm eating with you." I smiled despite myself because he smiled, and when he smiles, I smile. There is no choice in the matter.
"Alright. Fine by me. I didn't want to eat with Metal-head or Ice-princess. Eating with Lucy is way better anyway." And it was like Mavis slapped me in the face because I realized that I too, was being taken away an idiot boy. I'm gonna skip the cliche, 'I can't believe it; we're just friends' bullcrap. I like him, and it will save a shitload of a lot of energy to just accept it. So what? So I like Natsu a little bit. No big deal.
He then casually slung his arm around my shoulders, which I don't think he has never done before (if you were wondering). My face fumed. Okay, so maybe I liked him a lot. No big deal. I can live with it.
"Let's eat!" And we ate. We talked. And he smiled, and I smiled. There was nothing different, and I was glad. In the stories and books, the girl finally accepts the fact that she likes the boy, and BAM! Everything is different. She becomes bashful and indecisive. But the guy that has secretly liked her all this time acts the same. That's bullcrap. The girl can easily mask her feelings just a well as a guy can. Sexist bastards. (I really don't like those clichés; please forgive me)
The rest of the day went on with a thorn in my side. Literally. Well if Natsu poking my side with a pencil counts as literally anyway. Natsu's basketball practice was canceled due to the gym floor was being waxed, so Natsu walked home with me.
"I've decided that when we get to your place, we will play our game." Natsu stated sternly. Damn. I'd forgotten about that. Ask, Answer, and Tell.
"Alright. Explain the rules to your little game." I asked, peering at him through the corner of my eye. He tapped a finger to his chin with a small smile. There weren't many people out today, so the street was rather empty.
"Well. First we play rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to ask first. Then one of us can ask anything that they want to know. Then that other person answers. After that the asker says one thing nobody knows about them. You get two skips without consequences. After your two skips, you have to suffer a slight consequence in order to skip the question." His obsidian eyes fell on my face and I nodded.
"Sounds simple enough." He didn't say anything after that, leaving the street in silence. I gazed at the sky with a slight smile, enjoying the quiet. It was cloudy today, and I prayed that will rain tonight. The rain washed everything away and let us restart. I loved the sound, the smell, and the way it lulls me to sleep.
Natsu suddenly snapped his fingers like he just remembered something, which literally snapped me out of my daze.
"Shit. That's right! Igneel and Ma, not to mention Wendy, wanted to see you again. Mind playing over at my house?" (Not that why pervs. XD) My pink-headed best friend suggested. I smiled.
"Sure. I don't mind." Natsu grabbed my hand and dragged me down the street.
"Now you can meet Happy!"
"Happy?" I asked as we slowed down to a stroll.
"My best friend," He answered cheekily.
"I thought Gray was your best friend?"
"Ice-Princess? He's just a perverted popsicle that knows all of my secrets." Damn, this guy is always contradicting himself. First Gray's his best
friend, then he's not, and then this dude he calls Happy is his best friend and Gray is regarded as 'just a perverted popsicle'. I'll never get how Natsu's mind works.
"How long does it take to get to your house?" Then the worst thing ever happened. It started raining. What did I ever do to you Mavis? Why? Oh why do you hate me so? The one effing day I don't have an umbrella or a hoodie.
"It's about 5 minutes from here if we run. Where the hell did this rain come from anyway! It's killing my flame." (I had to. I'm sorry. Kill me for my horrible puns later.) "You aren't going to melt now are you, Luce?" He then proceeded to sprint down the street, laughing like a fucking maniac. Then slipping and falling. A young blue haired teen stopped across the street to stare at him. I smiled and waved to try and let her know that he was just a bumbling idiot. She nodded in greeting and was on her way.
"NATSU!" I sprinted after him as he scrambled to get up and run. We ran for a few minutes before calling truce and walking the last block to his house.
We stopped in front of a house that I assumed was his. It was a decent sized house, very old fashioned. It was a royal blue exterior with navy blue shutters and shingles. Rather than looking creepy, the vibe it gave off was extremely inviting.
Natsu kicked the door open and proceeded to shout, "I'M HOME!" He literally kicked it open.
"Goddammit Natsu. Stop kicking the door! I told you billion times to open it-"Grandine stopped in her tracks. We were standing in the doorway sopping wet. Natsu was covered in mud from when he tumbled in his failed attempt to escape me. And well I probably looked like a complete mess, with my large sweatpants and T-shirt.
"Oh hey Ma." Natsu said awkwardly. Is Igneel home?"
Grandine completely ignored her son and smiled. "Sorry about that Lucy. It's sort of his thing."
"You should be happy that he even uses the door. He climbs through my window every morning." I laughed as Grandine glared at her son, sending telepathic messages through her eyes about how she was going to kill him. Natsu told me a lot about his parents and how different they were. Grandine, his mom, was strict and loving, and his dad, Igneel, was carefree and kind. "I really don't mind it. He knocks on the window. Plus, I'd rather keep my apartment door on it's hinges"
I heard Igneel howl in laughter as he came into the living room where we were standing. The entire house seemed to have hardwood floors and vintage furniture. It was beautiful inside and out.
"Sounds like my boy." Igneel approached us and ruffled our already messy hair. "Get cleaned up. Natsu, lend Lucky Lucy some of your clothes." I smiled at my nickname. It's been years since anyone called me that. Natsu saluted and kicked off his mud-covered shoes before opening the door to our right and running down the wooden staircase.
I bent down and neatly took off my wet shoes and set them gently on the small rug at the door. I smiled at Natsu's parents.
"In all seriousness, how do you put up with him, Lucy?" Natsu's mother asked. Despite her tone, her eyes held a loving smile of a mother that loved her son. I grinned and shrugged my shoulders.
"High tolerance for stupidity, I guess." Again, Igneel howled and Grandine laughed. Wendy popped her head out from down the hall and smiled.
"Hi Lucy. Natsu told me you were here." She smiled gingerly, which was adorable might I add.
"Hey Wendy. What are you holding?" She then thrusted a beautiful, snow white cat out in front of her.
"This is Carla. My cat." The young blue-haired teen smiled, lighting up her face before frowning sorrowfully. "I'm sorry Lucy, I've got to go. I meeting some friends at the park. I wish I could play."
I smiled as she set down Carla. "It's okay Wendy. I'm sure Natsu'll drag me here again anyway. I'll see you soon. Bye-bye." I stepped away from the door and Wendy waved, followed by shutting the door.
Natsu came running up the stairs just seconds after Wendy shut the door, holding a fresh change of clothes. He, himself, had changed while he was gone. Now wearing a pair of fresh (well-fitting) pair of dark-gray sweatpants, a plain white tank top, a black Naruto sweater (which I may be slightly fangirling over), and Naruto's sleeping cap to pull his wet hair from his face, he was every geek's fantasy. A good-looking, muscular fellow geek. Hot damn.
Natsu handed me a change of clothes and sat on the couch next to Igneel. Grandine had made her way to the kitchen, probably to make dinner "Bathroom's upstairs. Second door to the right. Go ahead and put your clothes in with mine in the washer. The washer is in the room at the end of the hall. It's already started " I nodded and did exactly that. Natsu's bathroom was alarmingly clean. Sure there were a few disregarded socks on the floor and some toothpaste on the counter, so I'm guessing Grandine made him clean it regularly. I put on the clothes he gave me and tried not to acknowledge the fact that they were his clothes and that they, in fact, did smell like him. They smelled like spices and burning wood. . . just in case you were wondering. I made my way down the hall and put my clothes in the washer with Natsu"s, then I made my way up the stairs.
*END OF CHAPTER*
OKay. OKay. I know. I haven't updated in eons, but there is a reason. I was visited family in Michigan over the summer after I finished summer school and I stayed at my Grandma's house and she didn't have any wifi. And these past few weeks I've had writers block and yeah. So . . . yup. Oh and someone pointed out that I sometimes forget words and I apologize for that. SO THANK YOU ALL! YOU ALL ARE GREAT! AND I'll see you next chapter *wink*. . . Hopefully that'll be soon. . . BYE-BYE! ^.^
